11.5.10.2 -12.1.1 Upgrade- American English patch driver taking long time

Hi,
I have performed test upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1.It was successful.
The American English Upgrade patch driver had taken 20 hours time to complete.
Now i am doing a second test run by following the same steps, but now the same patch is taking long time. It is running from past 24 hours.
And still 54000 jobs to complete.
The main difference between my two test runs is
1.For first instance both database and apps are in one server. (single node)
2.For this new test instance, we have database running one server and 12.1.1 file system on another server.
Will it make any difference? How can i diagnose the issue?
The patch log is not showing any errors, but taking long time to complete.
Thanks,

Hi,
From m note 12.1.1 UPGRADE FROM 11.5.10.2 VERY SLOW XDOLOADER TASK HANGS [ID 1065393.1],
after changing mv /dev/random /dev/random_bak
ln -s /dev/urandom /dev/random
do i need to reboot the server?
After this can i continue the previous session of the patch? or start new session?
Thanks,

  • After Upgrade BI Initial load is taking much time

    Dear Friends,
We had BW 3.5 on  Windows 2003(32 bit) & SQL 2000.
    I upgraded it to BI 7.01 (EHP1 SR1) with Windows 2003(64bit),SQL 2005 & completed all followup activities.
Now when we are doing initial load it is taking long time. Please do let me know your inputs as soon as possible.

    Hi ,
I created the thread under netweaver forum.

  • EHP4 for ERP 6.0 upgrade phase MAIN_SHDRUN/DDIC_UPG running takes long time

    Dear all,
    I just tried to upgrade a fresh ERP 6.0 EHP4 ready (Linux X86_64 - Oracle) to EHP4 ERP 6.0.
I go through phase MAIN_SHDRUN/DDIC_UPG running, but it takes a very long times.
I checked the server resources usage, it 's very low.
I checked on my ERP 6.0 system and also the shadow system (background job, SM50), it seems no activities on both).
MAIN_SHDRUN/DDIC_UPG running - what is this phase about?
Its normal for this phase to takes about several hours??
What should i check to ensure that the upgrade process is still running?
How can i estimate time needed for this EHP4 upgrade?
I installed that freshERP 6.0 EHP4 ready system only on around 3-4 hours.
    Regards,
    Fendhy.

    Dear All,
I have same issue in ERP 6.0, EHP4 update, "MAIN_SHDRUN/DDIC_UPG" phase is still running, 24 hours passed. (only for this phase)
This is a NEW installation and on Production. I had no issues with DEV and QA and has taken only 50 minutes for the same phase.
Everything is same between DEV and PRD except, Production is on AIX HACMP cluster and using latest Ehpi installer + latest SPAM - version 41.
    - There is no any error or warnings in /usr/sap/SID/EHPI/abap/log directory
    - Phase is running, writing and reading files to installation directory
    - No any automatic cluster fail-over mechanisms enabled
    - Cluster has two nodes, DB+ASCS on one node and CI on other node.
    - Shadow instance is running, can login, no errors in sm21, st22, no any running or canceled background jobs
    - I can see 15% to 35% CPU "waits"  in CI node where ehpi is running, but 50% of CPU is idle
    - Also on same CI node, 70% to 100% disk busy waits can be seen on disks which mounted Ehpi installation directory
    - On DB node CPU utilization and disk utilization is low
What could be the reason? Any idea ? How to diagnose.
    Thanks,
    P.D

  • Visual Upgrade in SharePoint 2013 is taking more time!!!

Visual upgrade from UI in SharePoint 2013 is taking hell amount (20+ hrs) of time. My content DB size is around 80 GB. Can you please help us how to reduce
    this timing.
will running power-shell command makes difference?

Do not do this. Shrinking the database will, if anything, make it take longer. Removing content from the database by purging recycle bins etc. isn't a bad idea but 'Shrinking' in the sense of running ShrinkDB is a completely different thing. It's one of
those places where the lanugage used is very important.
Also, there isn't a visual upgrade in 2013, are you sure you don't mean the deferred site collection upgrade?

  • Upgrade can wait, maybe for a long time

I have a wonderfully well-functioning iPhone 4 and an original iPad that also works like a charm. I have been reading these discussions avidly since Wednesday and have come to a couple of disappointing conclusions about iOS5:
It doesn't seem to offer any benefits of any kind to the original iPad that I can tell. In fact, many iPad owners are complaining bitterly about how the upgrade has not enhanced, and rather crippled in some ways their iPad.
The biggest benefits in the iPhone arena seem to be from hardware improvements in the iPhone 4s, especially Siri and the improved camera.  I have yet to read either in these discussions, or on the Apple pages, or on any 3rd party sites a clear description of what usefeul features  iOS5 brings to the original iPhone 4. I was hoping to be able to choose text and email tones wtih iOS5, but that's so minor a feature that it's not even mentioned in any of the posts so far, so i don't know if it even works. On top of this, the upgrade process seems to really mess up some phones and, even if successful, requires reloading of music all over again, etc,, with often loss of other information. What a hassle for what? What will iOS5 allow my iPhone 4 to do that it doesn't do now?
The so-called "wireless syncing," which did seem to offer some real everyday use, still requires a power adaptor (that's a wire!) and choosing EITHER iCloud OR iTunes. You apparently can't use both easily. And if you choose iCloud, your non-iTunes-purchased music (aka ripped music from your old CDs)  ain't gonna be synced anyway. The iPhoto Stream "enhancement" sounds downright silly and useless.
So in two years when my Verizon becomes available for an upgrade, I will see what the iPhoneXX offers. But until then, iOS 4.10.2 seems to be a nice stable platform.  Perhaps in a couple of weeks Apple will sort out all this confusion and there will be ample posts here on which to re-consider a firmware upgrade. But right now I don't see any compelling reason to subject my smoothly working iPhone 4 to this firmware upgrade. Am I wrong about all this?

        p_stream = Stream.get("mp4:"+ streamName +".f4v");
        if(p_stream){
           p_stream.record();
           p_stream.play(streamName);

  • Running 12.1.1 Upgrade driver - 6678700 Taking Long Time

I started running this patch last Friday (02/11/11) on my VMWare front end.....it is still running. There were 124,000+ processes to run back then..now there are only 9234 remaining..but this one sql statement (olkstsch.sql) has been running for days. Now (cctupsp1.sql) is running as well. Why does this take so long. I stopped the upgrade a few times per some Metalink notes (I created a pointer from /dev/random to /dev/urandom) which increased the speed significantly.....but still this thing is still running. No issues in the alert log for db....the load on the box is minimal. Did I do something wrong? How do I reduce this downtime when I get into my real production-esque enviironments. Thanks.

  • Why iPad upgraded IOS7 the charging take much longer time?

I upgraded my iPad3 to IOS 7, everything seems fine, just the charging is much much slower. I'm using all genuine Apple's charger. Don't know why.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • Query Prediction takes long time - After upgrade DB 9i to 10g

Hi all, Thanks for all your help.
we've got an issue in Discoverer, we are using Discoverer10g (10.1.2.2) with APPS and recently we upgraded Oracle DatBase from 9i to 10g.
After Database upgrade, when we try to run reports in Discoverer plus taking long time for query prediction than used to be(double/triple), only for query prediction taking long time andthen takes for running query.
Have anyone got this kind of issues seen before, could you share your ideas/thoughts that way i can ask DBA or sysadmin to change any settings at Discoverer server side
    Thanks in advance
    skat

    Hi skat
Did you also upgrade your Discoverer from 9i to 10g or did you always have 10g?
If you weren't always on 10g, take a look inside the EUL5_QPP_STATS table by running SELECT COUNT(*) FROM EUL5_QPP_STATS on both the old and new systems
I suspect you may well find that there are far more records in the old system than the new one. What this table stores is the statistics for the queries that have been run before. Using those statistics is how Discoverer can estimate how long queries will take to run. If you have few statistics then for some time Discoverer will not know how long previous queries will take. Also, the statistics table used by 9i is incompatible with the one used by 10g so you can't just copy them over, just in case you were thinking about it.
Personally, unless you absolutely rely on it, I would turn the query predictor off. You do this by editing your PREF.TXT (located on the middle tier server at $ORACLE_HOME\Discoverer|util) and change the value of QPPEnable to 0. AFter you have done this you need to run the Applypreferences script located in the same folder and then stop and start your Discoverer service. From that point on queries will no longer try to predict how long they will take and they will just start running.
There is something else to check. Please run a query and look at the SQL. Do you by change see a database hint called NOREWRITE? If you do then this will also cause poor performance. Should you see this let me know and I will let you know how to override it.
If you have always been on 10g and you have only upgraded your database it could be that you have not generated your database statistics for the tables that Discoverer is using. You will need to speak with your DBA to see about having the statistics generated. Without statistics, the query predictor will be very, very slow.
    Best wishes
    Michael

I got a 320GB sata 2.5" hard drive and installed it myself, its easy. I also got a caddy so I can use my old 120GB drive as a back up. Make sure u have everything backed up! Seagate and western digital drives are most popular. I asked similar q and got this answer"
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
If your backup is bootable, then boot from the external drive and use SuperDuper to clone it back to the newly installed drive.

  • Every time I upgrade to a newer version from 3.6 it takes Firefox a long time to start from my desk top, why?

The newer versions such as 4.0 and 5.0 run fine AFTER they launch, but they take a long time to launch when I click on the icon on my desktop. All other browsers including Firefox 3.6 launch immediately, I have had my PC checked it is not the problem. Is there a patch that I need to download?

The iPhoto version that is currently available at the App Store os 9.5.1 and requires the Mavericks OS X.  The early 2008 24" iMac can run Mavericks.  Once you have Mavericks installed (it's free)  you can purchase iPhoto 9.5.1 from the App Store.
If you don't want to upgrade to Mavericks you can purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com and install iPhoto 9.  Then up trade it to 9.4.3 via the updaters at the  Apple Downloads website: Apple - Support - Search

I would understand it if you checked email on your Mac, and then those messages were not available on your iOS devices if you had the advanced account setting "remove copy from server after retrieving message:" set to immediately.
I looked through my iPhone settings and don't even see an option to tell my phone to pull the only copy of a message and delete it from the server.
Possibly there is another setting in Lion (I am running Snow Leopard still) that tells your Mac to only synchronize mail to your iOs devices and is not pulling mail directly from iCloud.
You could try disabling your current iCloud email account in Mac Mail, and adding a new one and just telling Mail it is a standard IMAP account (imap.mail.me.com incoming and smtp.mail.me.com outgoing).
I did that for Leopard to get my email even to work after MobileMe is cancelled and it seems to work fine with my iPhone.
If that doesn't work, you can delete that new email account and re-enable the temporarily disabled iCloud email account from above.
    Hope this helps.

  • After upgrading to iOS 5, my iPhone 4 takes a very long time to open digitally signed emails. I've tried with the SMIME settings enabled, but that doesn't help either. Any ideas on how to resolve this?  Thanks in advance.

I suspect you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them by each sub-folders until you are able to nail down which sub-folder of photos, that causes the sync to stop or gives you errors.
