11.5.10 Install -- Hangs while unzipping files

i am trying to install 11.5.10 install on HP TRU64. Installer hangs randomly at different stage while trying to unzip files.
I have made ulimit -d same as ulimit -v ...
does anyone has idea what is going on??
Thanks,
Nishant

Oracle Applications release 11i requires 100 MB of temporary disk space for HP Tru64 UNIX. The default location for the temporary files is /tmp directory. If the amount of disk space available under the /tmp directory is insufficient, redirect the temporary files to another location of your choice by setting the $TEMP and $TMPDIR environment variable to a directory with sufficient space.

  • Windows 7 install hangs while loading

Been trying to install Windows 7 64 to my MBP through Boot Camp, but it hangs when loading files from the DVD. It'll get through the progress bar saying "Windows is loading files..." but then stops after that.
Any ideas on what to do?

One of the reasons Windows 7 might have trouble, is where you are forced to delete and create NTFS out of the FAT/MSDOS partition that BCA creates.
Second, Windows 7 may assume that one of the 128MB or 200MB partitions on there (EFI at the end of each HFS volume and GPT head) look like FAT; Windows 7 creates a 100MB System Recovery partition. It may try to use those instead of taking it from the BOOTCAMP partition.
XP discs could vary and some versions would wipe out Mac OS, not even ask for where to put Windows, for no rhyme or reason, even XP SP3. Of course that means having a backup is doubly important.
Windows 7 64-bit is only "officially" support on some Macs, which doesn't mean it can't or won't, only that may have extra steps, may get an extra "Select 1 or 2" option due to its own EFI menu on Windows DVD.

  • DVD SP 2.05 hangs while opening file

DVD Studio Pro 2.0.5 hangs while opening a project file that until recently worked fine.
The "hang" seems to accur while DVD SP is opening the project's menus. The dialog box "Loading Project" appears and progresses until it reaches "Loading Menus", then it hangs until I click "Cancel", then DVD SP crashes.
I trashed DVD SP's prefs, no success. I even tried to move the project's menu files offline, without success - DVD SP even hangs when the referenced assets are not available to it. All project files that are variations of the main file also hang, all at the same time. I don't think the project files are corrupted, more likely something wrong with DVD SP? Any ideas? Reinstall? I'm a little worried about the project files - lots of work is at stake...
    Thanks

Previously when this has happened for folks it has been related to font management. If you have turned off a font that DVDSP uses as a default for the menus then it won't be able to create the menu when it loads. The solution is to turn on the fonts again.
Are you using font management software?

  • PS CS4 upgrade  install hangs while checking system profile

    System is a Core 2 Duo 6700 with 4GB, XP2 Pro SP3.
Installing PS CS4 upgrade over CS3.
Downloaded file unpacks OK, but when running Setup the Checking System Profile bar gets to about 90% the PS Setup window flashes up for barely a second, then the install hangs, ie no further progress with the Checking System Profile (left if for 20 mins or so).
I've downloaded and run a new CS4 upgrade file from Adobe store. No change.
I've added SP3 (was on SP2), no change.
Any one seen this or have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    @Ender
I've been dragging through the installer mud for CS4 ever since a sunny summer day in 2007, so I clearly know some of that stuff... ;-) And sorry to say so, it's simply not the off-screen dialog problem in most of these cases (which a look at the installer logs would very likely confirm). We can discuss this further off-list, if you feel like it, so shoot me a mail to mylenium|-|at|-|mylenium.de. I sure would like to get to know some of the Photoshop-Aliens a bit better (as someone rooted in the video, compositing and 3D world) :-D
    @Mike
Simply move them all out of the way or rename them and see what happens. The installer will create the folders again if needed and if e.g. you still need to run CS3, simply renaming/moving them back to their original state will still work (as long as you don't touch any folders related to licensing or shared core functions such as Anchor Service or Linguistics). If you're not feeling adventurous, then call support, they will provide you with more detailed explanations and hold your hand ;-)

  • Install hangs at 67% file expansion

I have a brand new Macbook Pro, Retina display.  For business I need to install Windows, and prefer Windows 7.  I purchased a download with ISO image.  Followed the Boot Camp instructions which worked very well until I got to the install screen "Expanding Windows Files."  It has frozen at 67% about three times now.  I see from the web that I am not the only one, but I was not able to follow the threads to a solution.
I would appreciate any direction toward a solution

  • I cannot install flash builder 4.6.  Installation hangs while unpacking files

Below is the information from the event viewer.  I am using Windows XP SP3.  I don't know, but I wonder if it has something to do with our roaming profiles.  The place it seems to be trying to unpack to is \\EssexHQVM\Desktops$\user.name\Desktop\Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 Installer, which has a special character in it.  I can't find any way to have the file unpack to another location, it doesn't prompt for a location.

So, the best solution that I have come up with, which is a poor solution, is to run the .exe file on a machine that is not connected to our network and wait for the files to unpack.  Then copy the files to a thumb drive and move them to the computer that I work from.  I can then install Flash builder with no problem.
This is a kludgy work around that ought not be.  How hard is it to have the unpacking routine prompt for a location?  That would allow me to give it a location to unpack that would not cause a hang up.  Or, failing that, why not unpack in the same location as the file that is doing the unpacking?  Then I could simply place the file in a good location and let it run.

  • IMovie hangs while .mov file compression.

I am using the "Share" option to create a .mov file that has minimal audio and 4 pictures, with a length of only 3 minutes. I have been watching the Activity Monitor and not running anything else while running iMovie with no luck. There is plenty of memory. I have tried for two days to create this .mov file. It will get all the way down to 20 minutes left and then start increasing time. I have let it sit for over two hours yesterday and today with no luck.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    iMovie pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named. com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)
    iMovie updated ?
    QuickTime updated ?
    Mac OS version ?
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

  • Why does Indesign CC hang while opening files?

iMac running OSX Yosemite, version 10.10.3. Files take forever to open and I have to force quit and reopen. Everything is updated to latest version, Indesign CC and Suitcase Fusion 5. Could the problem be with Suitcase auto activation?

SF5 is not supported under Yosemite so yes, that could well be the issue.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 hangs while exporting and during peak file generation.

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 (PRE7). I have a project which is using a single clip from a Mini-DV that was captured with Nero 8. Nero 8 was used because it was captured prior to installing PRE7. The file is 12GB and is on a USB disk drive because I don't have the space on my main hard drive (I have about 11GB free). My project doesn't do too much that's fancy. It merely uses about 20 minutes of the 60 minute Mini-DV captured AVI, and it uses simple transitions between each scene. I also have very simple titles at start and end. No themes or anything else.
I've seen two problems. 1) While editing the project, seemingly (but I'm not positive it's related) while the peek file was being generated, PRE7 would get into a state of using about 40% to 50% CPU, and it would not let me do anything else. The other problem, 2) While using "Share" to export the video to WMA for playback on PC (about 180MB estimated file size according to Adobe), the file is exported to about the last remaining 5 seconds, but then PRE7 goes into that mode of hanging with 40% to 50% CPU usage.
One time when it had this 50% CPU issue, I let it sit overnight, and the export was finished in the morning. The export that time was to a 90MB FLV for posting to the "web" according to the Share wizard. But when I was doing the above (issue #2), it went into the 50% CPU usage but didn't finish after waiting around 2 hours. Even if I were to let it sit that time, and it were to finish, it seems like something's wrong and that this is unacceptable.
When this happens, and PRE7 goes into 50% CPU utilization, there is no pacifier or percentage bar advancing. It usually happens near 100% finished. Only one time did it complete successfully after leaving it unattended at 90% complete for an extraordinary amount of time.
    To recap:
    C:\ hard drive ---> PRE7, my project.
E:\ USB drive ---> 12GB source AVI file and destination for export.
I saw elsewhere on this forum that someone imported a mini-dv captured AVI into Window Movie Maker and then exported it to Mini-DV from that app. This solved that person's problem with hanging during peak file creation. I had the 50% hang issue during peak file generation but I'm not sure it was related to peak file generation. A peak file was generated in a project which, when exported with share as mentioned above, still did the hang 50% CPU issue. Regardless, I will try the import/export/movemaker thing and report back but I've been trying enough things that I wanted to take a second to ask for assistance.
Does anyone have this issue, and is there a patch or fix?
I might be able to provide a user mode dump of the 50% CPU adobe process. There is some call stack information and I'm wondering if developers would want this info if they don't already have a solution/fix to this bug.
    Thanks for any help.

I have some more info on the hang which I've been experiencing during export/share of a project which uses an AVI as its one main clip. Adobe Premiere Elements 7 (PRE7) appears to be hanging because it's looping endlessly in ImporterAVI.prm. I'm wondering if this info can be passed onto Adobe developers and/or if I can submit this information elsewhere for such processing. I also have a process dump file which might be helpful, not to mention the original project files.
I used Process Monitor to help analyze this situation, and prior to PRE7 getting into the endless loop, it appears to be reading from the AVI file little by little, and WMEncodingHelper.exe is writing out little by little to the destination file, both of which I would expect. When PRE7 gets to the end of the import/export, Process Monitor appears to show all the aforementioned disk activity ceasing. I see neither process reading or writing. This would be normal if the share/export procedure had completed. But PRE7 is not complete. It is hung and is operating at 50% CPU utilization.
Far below in this post are technical details which may be helpful to an Adobe developer determine why the importer could get into this endless loop. In those details, there is a jump instruction, "jb ImporterAVI!xImportEntry+0xf32", which will always jump if a particular compare always turns out a certain way. But in my review of the counters being compared, it never will get to a point of exiting. When I modify a flag (the carry flag) to be 0, the loop exits. When I did this, my export/share of my project completed successfully. So it was done, but for some reason, PRE7 was looping and looping in its AVI importor instead of completing the export (aka "Share").
I cannot say that this certainly indicates a bug with PRE7, but it seems to me that there's enough data for Adobe to be at least investigating this particular issue. I'm not the only person who has seen this as there was at least one other message describing the same problem which the user resolved by effectively re-creating the AVI file via a no-op import/export into and out of MovieMaker. My AVI also goes through MovieMaker, import/export, without a hitch.
In a sense, I view PRE7's "share" as essentially an import, processing of imported information (i.e., effects and transitions), and an export. It's an import of all clips into the project at the right times, a processing of all effects, and finally an export to a destination. I realize this is simplistic, but the point I'm making is I have a simple project with a single AVI, and it appears that the "import" portion of PRE7's Share option is choking on the only clip used by this project. I also don't have much but simple transitions and a beginning/ending title on the project, so I'm not thinking this use of PRE7 is much more than what I'm doing with MovieMaker when importing/exporting this AVI.
I fully agree that optimum hardware can be either required or critical for certain types of video editing, but PRE7 is a consumer program and I'm not using anything extensive about it and the symptoms are that PRE7 is looping on its import of a file other programs don't have a problem with. I already tried purchasing a 1TB external, which I'm glad I did, but I really think Adobe developers should look at this issue. There may be a problem with handling certain AVI clips used in a project when those clips come from certain sources. If there is an issue, perhaps it could warrant a fix that would make PRE7 more compatible with these other clips.
Does Adobe have a procedure for people to upload (or mail) projects and files to it so that they can troubleshoot why the importer gets into this state? I also mentioned earlier that I have a full user-mode dump of the process which may be of value to a dev. Can I submit this information anywhere?
    Here are textual technical details:
    Plug-in which loops: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\Plug-ins\en_US\ImporterAVI.prm
The following are the instructions at the "bottom" of the loop which never ends. Below, I put "***" at the jump instruction I mentioned earler. If I force the carry flag to be 0 at that point, and the jump is skipped, the export completed successfully. Additionally, notice that [esp-0x1c] is 0x2000, and that both eax and edi are 0. When I see it loop, eax stays at 0 and never reaches 0x2000. I wonder if something about the AVI is causing values used by this importer to be such that it causes this endless loop, and if that's the case, and if such values are valid/good, I'm wondering if the importer can be fixed by being able to detect such values so as to not choke (if in fact it's an importer issue).

  • Hang while installing OS X Mavericks

Hi, my MacBook Air is currently hanging while installing OS X Mavericks. I got stuck after the installer asked me about my iCloud account, which I forgot, so I clicked 'Forgot Password'. It's been showing a gray loading screen ever since. I tried to restart it a couple of times but it won't, and my laptop won't even shut down. I close my computer and then the startup comes up again, I put in password, but it's the same gray loading screen.
I'd like to reload the installation, or at least get to access my computer files. What do I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Nevermind! It managed to shut down after a while. Whew!

  • ERROR: invalid backup file version. Exception: Error while unzipping invalid wcs 7.x export file

    Hi,
I'm having a serious issue with your brend new Cisco Prime Network Control System (NCS) and i would appreciate if someone could give me good answers.
After a background backup task failure, the database was entirelly corrupted and the oracle server no longuer wanted to start. And because of that the NCS web server is unusable, since no one can log in.
We tryed to restore to last known backup obtained after a former suucessful backup. But we get this error:
"ERROR: invalid backup file version. Exception: Error while unzipping invalid wcs 7.x export file"
All the lost data was previously migrated from the former WCS 7.x server. Before this issue everything was working fine.
So we think that the appliance is seeing the backup file from NCS as a WCS backup.
We need to find rapidly a solution. Here is our configuration:
We formerly had WCS 7.0.172.0 hosted on Microsoft Windows Server 2003  SP2 with the above caracteristics:
    Intel(R)Xeon(R) CPU  5120 @ 1.86Ghz 1.87Ghz 16GB of RAM.
We now have NCS  Version 1.1.1.24 running under Cisco Application Deployment  Engine
    OS Release:  2.0
    ADE-OS Build Version: 2.0.1.038
    ADE-OS System Architecture:  x86_64

I was getting this error too. TL;DR: When you transfer the wcs.zip file to your FTP server, make sure you are using BINARY mode... which is often NOT the default FTP mode.
    Long Version:
TO GET THIS ERROR, what I had done was use the Windows CLI FTP command to transfer my "wcs.zip" to the NCS FTP server.
    -----BEGIN WRONG STEPS-----
    C:\ftp
    ftp> open x.x.x.x
    Connected to x.x.x.x.
220 Service ready for new user
    User (x.x.x.x:(none)): ftp-user
331 User name okay, need password for ftp-user
    Password:
    230 User logged in, proceed
    ftp> put wcs.zip
    200 Command PORT okay
150 File status okay; about to open data connection
    226 Closing data connection
ftp: 526768949 bytes sent blah blah etc
    -----END WRONG STEPS-----
I would then run "ncs stop" and "ncs migrate" and get the "ERROR: invalid backup file version. Exception: Error while unzipping invalid wcs 7.x export file".
I remembered something from my misspent youth: Windows, for no good reason, likes to transfer files in ASCII mode. UNIX (which LINUX comes from) prefers BINARY, and the two do not like to negotiate.
TO FIX THIS, I had to just FTP in Binary mode.
    -----BEGIN RIGHT STEPS-----
    C:\ftp
    ftp> open x.x.x.x
    Connected to x.x.x.x.
220 Service ready for new user
    User (x.x.x.x:(none)): ftp-user
331 User name okay, need password for ftp-user
    Password:
    230 User logged in, proceed
    ftp> binary
    200 Command TYPE okay
    ftp> put wcs.zip
    200 Command PORT okay
150 File status okay; about to open data connection
    226 Closing data connection
ftp: 526768949 bytes sent blah blah etc
    -----END RIGHT STEPS-----
NOW when I enter "ncs stop" (actually... had to restart them... then stop them... x.x) and then the proper "ncs migrate" commands, I get a happy output and don't have to go home late troubleshooting this.

I hope this helps anyone banging their head against the WCS->PI1.3 install wall.
(Note, WCS needs to be migrated to NCS 1.1.1.24 (NOT NCS 1.1.3!!!!!) before you can migrate to Prime Infrastructure 1.2 or 1.3, because for no readily apparent reason the "ncs migrate" command was removed from PI 1.2 and up. Also note, there is no "Prime Infrastructure 1.1;" they just renamed NCS to Prime Infrastructure after NCS 1.1 because. Yes, the sentence ends there. Great products, all 3, just... agonizing to migrate.)

Usually, the 9i client install hangs at 54% (at globalization support file - udc_zht.txt). Some 9i installs have worked while others have failed. Identical hardware (IBM ThinkCentres). Any one else had this problem? What was the solution?

  • How do I install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings

I need to update my system, I realized that I need Snow Leopard (quiet late) before Maverick. My question is, how can I install it keeping files and all the data. I found this on Internet, does it work?
Install Snow Leopard while keeping files, applications, and settings
If you follow these steps, the installer will replace your operating system if one is already present, but will preserve your account information and personal files.  You may have to reinstall some applications, however.
Insert the install disc (or the first install disc if you have more than one) into your disc drive. Restart your computer while holding down the c key. This causes your computer to start up from the install disc rather than your hard drive. When you see the gray Apple insignia, release c .
The Mac OS X installer should open automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to read and accept the license agreement and begin the installation. When prompted to choose a destination disk, select your preferred location and click Install.
When the Mac OS X installation finishes with the disc, restart your computer. After the installation completes, a configuration program may begin automatically if you are installing for the first time. You will need to supply basic setup information for your computer.
Update your system software to ensure that you have the most recent operating system components.  From the Apple menu, select Software Update... , and then follow the instructions on the screen. Often, you will have to restart your computer, and you may have to run Software Update multiple times before it can completely update your system.

That's why you need to back it up. You won't need to restore the backup immediately afterwards unless something goes wrong during the upgrade, but you'll need it later; the drive will eventually fail.

  • OUI patch install hangs, files being used by another application

Hi when a patch install hangs, and the OUI error message is that files needing to be reinstalled are being used by another application, how can you identify which files or processes are responsible so that they can be shut down? All normal Oracle services and DTC are shut down already.
This is patch 6810189 upgrade to 10.2.0.4 (from 10.2.0.3) which includes the April CPU on a Win32 server.

Please check any oracle service is still on ..
need to shutdown listener/oracle service .. and other db service belongs to Oracle.
You can download windows process explorer and check for any oracle process and kill those and then apply CPU
