11 inch or 13 inch for creative programs? (Adobe CS6, Blender, etc)

Hello! I currently own a 15 inch Macbook pro and love it, but I have to get a new computer! The reasons why are that my father ('m a teenager, so I still live with my parents) needs a laptop for what he is doing, and because of my horrible, large, and slow handwriting I have to bring a computer to school, but the 15 inch is simply too clunky and cumbersome to carry around class to class, around the school. O.k., great, I would just get an 11 inch Macbook Air, because it is cheaper, smaller, and it looks cool . However, there is another complication. In my spare time I like to develop games and compose music in Logic, so I use progrmas such as Illustrator, Gimp, Unity, porgramming IDEs, Garageband, possibly Final Cut (my hobbies switch a lot), you get the idea. Anyways, I'm worried an 11 inch screen won't be suitable for what I am doing. Do you think I can run these programs effectively with this small of a screen, or do I need a 13? Thank you!

"Effectively"? That's a somewhat subjective question.
The 13", in addtion to greater screen real estate, ahs a higher resolution. As such, both attributes would make the 13" a better choice. I used the 11" for similar purposes for several months, and it was completely usable. However, the 13" makes a significant difference in viewing whole images.
Simple....The 11" will work. The 13" will work much better. You simply have to weigh the transportability factor (slight), versus the usability for your spare time work. Sorry..it's no simple answer.
I think the longer run time, and the SD card reader might tilt it further to favor the 13". Then again, the 11" will probably be a slightly better "school" computer.

My apologies, but I really had no interest in a member's "answer", especially one that is so unhelpful.  Assuming that you were responding to me (we are the only two commenter's at this point), I would not be inclined to read the Creative Cloud offers since this is something that I am not interested in.  I bought the product the first day of offer, I did not rent it....just like I have in all the years past.

  • Removing Adobe CS6 Start menu shortcuts

    Hey all,
I've created seperate packages for every program inside CS6, these will be deployed using ZCM, the installation including exceptions all works fine.
My problem is that it creates shortcuts for every application, including some of the exclusions and programs like Bridge in my start menu.
I've tried creating a transform to run with the msi that removes the shortcuts, but checking both the shortcuts option, and the shortcuts table in the msi, there is nowhere where I can find where and/or how it creates these shortcuts.
I want to install CS6 without any shortcuts at all.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Irfan

    Hello Irfan,
You can add an additional 'Install action' to your Windows Bundle in which you run the Creative Suite MSI, created with the AAMEE, which then runs this script:
del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6\Adobe Illustrator CS6.lnk"
del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6\Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6.lnk"

  • I purchased creative cloud, so I thougth Adobe Acrobat Pro was included. When I install the program with my CC ID, I keep getting a trial version, I paid for Creative cloud so why should I buy Adobe acrobat seperately?

    Can anyone help me please?
I tried to install and remove twice, We bought one year full package of creative cloud programs.
Many thanks for a solution, i have 3 days trial left.

    Hello Kelly,
first, because you wrote that you "installed ..." a try to (un)install by own resources is not enough!)
As strange as it may seem I fear it's now a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
On the other Hand, in my eyes it's as you said, CC includes many other programs, please see Adobe Creative Cloud . Here a screenshot of some of my programms I loaded down to use in CC:
If necessary and for further questions and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.

  • Which should I buy, 13 inch or 15 inch (Late 2013) for Graphic Design?

Hi! I'm in the market for a new laptop and after doing research for a month+ I've decided to go with a MacBook Pro (my first). The thing is, even after all my research (I've practically scoured the whole web), I can't figure out whether it's better for me to get the mid spec (2.4ghz/8gb/256gb) 13 inch rMBP, the low end 15 inch rmbp (2.0ghz/8gb/256gb), or the top spec 15 inch rMBP (2.3ghz/16gb/512gb). If I get the mid spec 13 inch or the low end 15 inch, I  will spring for the 16gb upgrade.
I was wondering if I could get the community's advice as to what is best suited for my needs. I'm thinking the 13 inch will be okay for me but I'm worried about the GPU not being able to handle what I need to do. I'm willing to spend the money for the $2599 model if I must, but if I don't need to spend that much on it, then I'd be happier. I don't want to spend on a laptop that's way more than what I need.
256gb space is more than enough for me, so ssd size is not a consideration.
Here is how I'll use it:
    - (Most probably multitasking these all at the same time)
    - Skype/Facetime/Instant Messengers
    - Web browsing (most commonly with around 30-40 tabs at a time)
    - Heavy Adobe Photoshop-10 hours 5 days a week (sometimes I also use Illustrator and Flash)
    - Video editing here and there (maybe once or twice weekly)
    - Streaming video/music OR playing music/video via iTunes or VLC
    - Some downloading here and there
    - Rarely, I'll also use it for word processing
I do a little gaming here and there, but most likely I'll only be playing Diablo III, Path of Exile, and Sims 3 (or 4 when it comes out), so I do need a computer that can handle it.
    Considerations:
    - I work at home so I'm not too concerned with the lessened portability of the 15 inch. I DO NOT want an iMac, please do not suggest that to me!
    - I'm on my computer almost 18 hours a day and will need a computer that can keep up
    - I'd like for the laptop to last me at least 4 years, since it's a big spend

Thanks! What I do want to know however is if the tasks I need to do can be handled without the dedicated video card? Also since I'm multitasking, is it better if I go for the quadcore?
I wish you could put a video card in the 13 inch. :/

  • 13inch vs 15 inch non retina display for university

13 inch or 15 inch Non retina display macbook for university?
I've been going back and forth for so long and I only have a few more weeks before I go to university.
My major is psychology, so I don't need it specifically for my major. I will be using my macbook for writing essays, researching, watching movies, and occasional gaming (Sims 4 when it comes out). I would be getting the higher end models of 13 inch or 15 inch. I like the portability of the 13 inch, but I feel like the screen is going to be too small and I really don't want to have an external monitor. Also I heard that sims doesn't work as well on the 13 inch. I like the screen on the 15 inch and I like that its quad-core, but I'm worried that's its going to be too heavy; its also a lot more expensive, but if I really have to, ill pay it. My campus is small so it not like I have to walk for very long. I don't like taking notes with a laptop anyway, so I may not bring it to class often.
I've been going back and forth with decision for so long I just want someone to tell me which one would be perfect for me!!!
P.s if I did get the 13inch would an LED 19" flat screen tv work as an external monitor?

Go to the store and try both the 13" and 15". The extra two inches makes a big difference when writing papers.
Neither is a good gaming computer but the 15" is better.
If you will be collaborating on papers, turning in assignments done on the computer, make sure you are running the same programs as your colleagues and professors. If they are using Windows programs then you will want to be running Windows on your computer. I would opt for the 15" for running Windows. The 13" will work but the extra computing power of the 15" will be better.
The 15" is not too heavy to carry in a backpack. I've taken mine all over the world and never wished I had a smaller computer.

  • How to import WMV file for use in adobe programs, especially After Effects and/or Premier?

How to import WMV file for use in adobe programs, especially After Effects and/or Premier?

I have the latest adobe creative cloud and i'm using Mac 10.8.2
My client gave me a wmv file that she wants some people blurred out in the background but when I go to import the media, it's greyed out. I'm assuming that After Effects will be the best solution for this, but maybe there is another way.
I can purchase a video converter and convert it to .mov but that costs extra money that I don't want to spend just to do this one project.

I downloaded the Creative Cloud. I went to the section of the application and did not find the program Adobe Premiere. Tell me how and where I download a trial version of this program?

Hi Dmirtiyter, I suspect that you have a windows computer and seems you have a 32 bit system and that's the only reason you are not getting a download option for Premiere Pro as its a 64 bit Program.
