11" MacBook Air internal speakers do not work

My macbook air does NOT play any audio from the Internal Speakers, but it will play from the audio jack. I've reset the PRAM, SMC and it still doesnt work. The system believes that i have headphones plugged in. I cant take the p.o.s. to the Apple Store so if anyone can help fix this that would be great.

    Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
Best.

  • The internal speakers are not working on my macbook pro

the internal speakers are not working on my macbook pro

Are they selected under System Preferences>Sound? Or do you see something such as "Digital Output" listed instead of "Internal Speakers"?
It may be that your digital out switch is 'stuck.' This usually happens after using headphones and you can usually see a red light coming from the audio out port. You can 'fix' this by plugging and unplugging a headphone jack repeatedly until the switch is reset.

You will need to use an external DVD drive to run the disc installer that came you your machine. You can also do it with another Mac using the Remote Install Max OS X app. Finely, if you have access to another computer, you could burn the install image on a USB thumb drive, boot from that, erase the drive and run the installer.

  • Internal Speakers do not work at all

My sound was working just fine a few days ago, and all of a sudden, there is no sound at all comming from my macbook pro. I have tried plugging in headphones and still there's no sound comming from there neither. I don't even hear the chime at start-up. I have looked at a couple of fourms on here and tried everything from toggling with the headphone jack to reinstalling OS X Mavericks but still no dice. There's no red light showing up in the headphone jack, and the interna speakers are not showing up at all in sound preferences. I don't know what is going on, i have tried everything! What should I do? Do I need to buy a new sound system??

I'm having the exact issue. I, too, have done everything I know to do to correct it. I've never had a moments trouble with it until I update to OS X Maverick the other day. I sometimes plug my computer to my TV via a HDMI cable, and the sound plays through the TV just fine with that. The only thing left I know to do is to take it to the Mac Store....

  • HT1338 my internal speakers are not working

I went to the sound preferences, thru my system preferences menu, and my internal speakers are not listed as a choice in the "select a device for sound output". It's like the computer doesn't acknowledge their presence. I can get sound thru my headphones but not thru the built in speakers

  • Internal speakers are not working,  they're not showing up at all. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My computer's speakers are not putting out sound. They worked fine yesterday, and I just now started up my computer and began using it today. The internal speakers don't show up on my list of output devices in settings, and I can't adjust the volume. Any help is really appreciated!!!

They are all in the same folder and it says all images are there, but it is only showing 1 card's images at a time. Does anyone know how to fix this?
This is kind of confusing, on the one hand you say "it says all images are there" and then you directly contradict this by saying "it is only showing 1 card's images at a time".
Could you explain in a lot more detail what you see (and don't say "it", say exactly what part of Lightroom or what part of your operating system you are looking at), or show us a screen capture?

  • Apple TV & Mid 2012 Macbook Air 11.6'' - AirPlay not working

So I just purchased the new MBA to replace my 2010 air...which also suffers from a cracked screen. Since mirroring wont work on the old model anyways, I sold the unit and cut my loses (I was going to replace to LCD but decided it wasn't worth the effort.)
    Anyways...
I attempted to use the MBA and the mirroring function out of the box and it worked great. Sure the mouse was a little sluggish, and the audio obviously delayed (on the MBA), but synced perfectly to the TV. I watched YouTube videos, and some other flash and HTML5 embeded content. I was prompted for an update for my Apple TV 3, and today for my MBA. After updating, and restarting both units (which I have done several times since then too), mirroring does not work as it should.
When I select the TV usually it would adjust to a resolution higher than the MBA native resolution--but appropriate for the TV. Instead, the MBA screen goes blue, adjusts to the resolution, and then goes blue again, returning to a non mirroring mode.
Sometimes when I do get mirroring to work--at the MBAs standard resolution--AirPlay will be "working" despite it saying that mirroring is off and greyed out.
The biggest frustration out of all of this is that whenever I go to play a video, assuming AirPlay doesn't stop mirroring at whatever random resolution it picks (I have adjusted between a fixed and aspect appropriate setting), the AUDIO will only play through my televisions speakers, and the video will stop feeding and go back to the Apple TV home screen.
It has done this with YouTube, HBOGO, Hulu, and a number of other video streams online.
Has anyone else had this issue so far?
    To reiterate:
Using mid 2012 MBA on OSX Mountain Lion
Apple TV 3 will stream audio and mirror sometimes, but stops mirroring whenever video is played.
AirPlay icon will remain available, but will say mirroring is unavailable / greyed despite it actually "working."

    Hey thellamaPod,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides troubleshooting information for AirPlay Mirroring in OS X. Usually, this may be caused by the firewall and a simple tweak of the settings should resolve your issue:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
    Firewall security settings
If you use a firewall, make sure the following firewall security options have been set to allow AirPlay Mirroring to work:
    1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu ().
    2. Click Security & Privacy, then click Firewall.
    3. Click the lock icon to unlock it if it's locked, then type an administrator name and password.
    4. Click Firewall Options.
    5. Deselect (uncheck) the “Block all incoming connections” checkbox.
    6. Select (check) the “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections” checkbox.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My 2012 Macbook Air Keyboard and Trackpad Not Working

This all started last weekend when I installed the latest updates from Apple. The reboot and startup went fine, and nothing happened for a couple of hours, but while I was reading on the Kindle app (fullscreen), the trackpad stopped working. The keyboard stopped working too. Only the power button worked.
Since I received both a Growler and Notification Alert while this was going on, I assume everything else in the background is working just fine, but the keyboard and trackpad simply are not working. I rebooted the machine and it was working just fine. I dismissed it as a one-off occurance.
However the same issue occured a few hours ago, this time with the Safari screen full-screen. Since I was home, I've added a regular USB keyboard and mice, and that's how I'm typing this out on my Macbook Air at the moment
Like I said, this all started after I installed the OSX 10.8.4 updates onto my machine. I've never had a prior issue with the keyboard and trackbar until yesterday.
    Any advice?

No one cared enough to answer.

  • T400 type 2768, Internal Speakers do not work? Here's what I have tried.

    Hello all,
I just spent hours reading all the problems people have had with their thinkpad internal speakers not working. I bought this computer, which is past the warranty date, and am trying to fix it myself. It originally had Vista installed, and was upgraded before I bought it to windows 7. Once I updated the driver for audio, the three audio buttons began to work, but not the speakers. The headphone jack does work, however? Here is what I have done to try to fix this based on what I read on past posts in this forum:
updated windows, installed over 72 files
updated lenovo drivers for windows 7, installed 132 files. Not all applicable.  Just covering my bases.
rolled back bios to default setting
    uninstalled and reinstalled audio driver
    updated BIOS again
installed new speakers.  Old ones looked fine. No melting, pinched wires, and the inside of the laptop looked fine.
inserted headphones in and out several times to see if the audio is interupted by cutoff there. Sound was fine in headphones, but nothing happened.  No noise or static or anything.
I read that this issue could be a motherboard problem? Every diagnostic I ran indicates that the sound is functioning normally. I need to know what to do next. I feel like I got took, but do really like the computer.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

If Eric's suggestion doesn't work, open System Preferences, go to "sound" and check to see of the mute button is not checked. Also check if the output name is "digital output" rather than "internal speakers" If it is, then it maybe it is the logic board, which it was in my case. However, it was covered under my warrenty. My sound problem came from a faulty logic board that was replaced in my computer for a "non boot" problem.
    Good luck

  • My internal speakers are not working, but my computers says they are

I get no sound with or without headphones it.  I have gone into settings and made sure that I have selected internal speakers as the output device, and that they are not muted.  Everything in the settings indicates that the sound is working fine, but I can't hear anything through the speakers.  I have also checked to make sure sound is turned on in the applications I am using.

  • My macbook air mid 2013 is not working on handoff.

my iPad mini 1 and iPhone 5 is working on handoff but my macbook air is not working on handoff! can someone please help!

Same issue here: I can get my iPad Air and iPhone 6 to do handoff- but not my MacBook Air.  I am running all of the most updated OS X and iOS versions on a MacBookAir Late 2010.
There seems to be a few places to check:  APPLE>About This Mac>System Report>Select Blue Tooth from the Left column > Look for: 1) 4th from the top and item saying HANDOFF Supported - mine says no!  Even though I have Bluetooth 4.3 software.  There is apparently another item called the LMP version which has to be 0x6 - mine in 0x4.  Then go into SYSTEM PREFERENCES>GENERAL>...there is supposed to be a checkbox right near the bottom just below the RECENT ITEMS count selector drop down that says ALLOW HANDOFF BETWEEN THIS MAC AND OTHER ICLOUD DEVICES - I do not have this on mine - again assuming it is because of the afore mentioned shortfalls.

  • MacBook Air and Seagate 3TB not working properly since Yosemite

Hey all, I'm stuck all of a sudden so I'm hoping someone can help.
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air (1.8GHz i5, 4gb DDR3 Ram) and a Seagate 3TB external hard drive (model SRD0SD1). I've never had a problem with either of these units. I upgraded to Yosemite the other day but tonight was the first time I've really used my computer since then. I went to back up some photos/video from my iPhone to the drive, and during the transfer I got a warning about not properly ejecting the disk. I checked the connections thinking the USB may have come lose, but everything seemed fine. I plugged it back in and could only see the folders, no file. I restarted the computer and could see everything fine, which is awesome, however now I cannot write to the disk at all. I get an error saying, "OS X can't repair the disk Seagate. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Backup the disk and reformat it as soon as you can"
I tried repairing the disk in Disk Utility anyways, but I wasn't shocked when it didn't work. A friend of mine works in IT for a university and said this has been popping up a lot the past week or so. Does anyone have any insight/recommendations as to what to do next? I'd rather not replace the drive, it's less than 2 years old!
Thanks in advance for the help, it's much appreciated.

    Seagate problems here too..
    with a macbook pro 15 late 2013
Since the upgrade to Yosemite it does not read my 1 tb Seagate.
Icon does show on desktop, but finder wont open it.
I tried connecting the drive to an other mac and it works fine.
Other 3.0 usb devices work fine on the macbook.
So it seems to be a seagate-specific issue.

  • Macbook Air and iPad iMessage not working

After getting a new iPhone, iMessage no longer works on my iPad and Macbook Air. Advice on how to fix? Thanks!

See this page about the reccomended networking settings for AirPlay. It is most likely due to your router.
    I hope I helped.
