1127 Sync Conflcts (Missing Sync)

I've followed some folks' suggestions and installed Missing Sync. I'm using a PDA (Tungsten E2), along with my MacBook (Intel) with Tiger 10.4.6, along with a PowerBook (also on Tiger 10.4.6).
I'm pretty good at following instructions, and I thought I had done everything that Missing Sync suggested. It took me a while to get to the "clean iSync" as there were some corrupted files. But I finally got there. And then I did the "Missing Sync" sync.
At first, I had a hundred or so sync conflicts. I thought I resolved them (some of them were 3-way: iCal, MarkSpace/Events, and "deleted"). So I synced again. And then then there were more. Rinse, repeat. And now I have 1127 sync conflicts.
As far as I can tell, my iCal (on my MacBook) is just fine. And it looks as thought my PDA is fine. So, how do I clear up this problem?
Thanks (and, btw, I'm cross-posting this to a Missing Sync discussion list, as it's unclear whose problem this is—other than mine, of course).

  • To Dos not syncing with Missing Sync

When syncing with Missing Sync 6.0, my events sync fine. However, my tasks from my Tungsten E2 do not show up in the To Dos list on iCal. If I search in iCal, I can find them by name, but they do not show up in a list in the To Do pane. Any suggestions?

Same here. After the update to 10.5 I have succesfully done one sync between my Treo and iCal using MissingSync. Now iCal gives an error, see below. What is the workaround? Downgrading to 10.4.x? Or get an iCal 2 somewhere and run that?
I really want to get my ToDo and Calendar data from my Treo before I go from my Treo 650 to an iPhone. Any workaround is welcome.

  • Spanning Sync or Missing Sync?

    Hello,
I am syncing my google account, HTC Hero Android phone, three Macs, and an iPod Classic. I use iSync (which is splendid) to sync the Apple part and Spanning Sync to reach google. Spanning Sync is possibly the worst software that I have ever used. It randomly creates duplicates. If I delete the wrong duplicate then the event is removed from my google calendar and phone. I think it has not resolved google push technology with iSync's polling technology, because Spanning Sync conflicts arise the moment I create a calendar event. (I am not sure if these duplicates appear if I create the event using a different computer, because I do not see myself as an alpha-tester.)
Anyway, I was wondering if Missing Sync was any better. Any comments appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

Hi Mark. Try out Syncmate http://mac.eltima.com/sync-mac.html - it will sync your Google and Mac for free (contact and calendar) so you can test it without any risk - it is free:)
they also have how to's for Android and Google sync
    Google http://mac.eltima.com/syncmacgoogle.html
    Android http://mac.eltima.com/syncmacandroid.html
Though they cannot sync mac and iPod, Google sync and Android sync is offered.

  • Palm Sync via Missing Sync

I have been using Missing Sync (version 5.1) to sync my Palm calendar with the Palm Desktop (version 4.2.1). I have started exporting Palm calendar via vCal file and importing into iCal 2.x. I have recently experienced trouble with one day or multi day events (without any time restraints).
In Palm Desktop the event is fine. In the imported iCal the one day event carries over to two days with the first day being the day before the event.
This is causing me to have to go through the iCal and adjust each of the one day and multi day event.
I have tried using Missing Sync's iCal conduits but not everything transfers.
    Any suggestions please?
    -Chuck

    CFL,
I don't know if you are still monitoring this, but when I had this problem last week, I concluded it was the result of how iCal handled HoliDates, the application I use for holidays, and also how it interprets multiday events differently from the Palm Desktop.
What I had to do was go through the iCal events, deleting ALL the oddities from the import, and replacing them with corrected versions in the iCal calendar. Because of this, I chose to do a hard reset of my Tungsten T3, and told Missing Sync to overwrite the handheld using the Mark/Space conduits. The other conduits are all set to "Do Nothing."
For this effort to make sense, you have to want to use iCal, Address Book, and Mark/Space MemoPad as your desktop PIM, and discontinue use of Palm Desktop. Tough decision, I know, because while old, the Palm Desktop is a very nicely integrated app.
Hope this helps if you are still trying to deal with the issue!

  • Ical - deleted events prevent from syncing with missing sync

When I try to sync ical with my windows mobile 5.0 running Motorola Q via Missing Sync, I always encounter an error message that one of my ical-events prevents Missing Sync from an error-free sync.
This message comes up when I start Missing Sync: "iCal is reporting synchronization errors. One or more calendar events may not have synchronized properly from iCal. Errors may prevent this application from completing a successful synchronization."
The Missing Sync Protocoll rerfers to an event which I did already delete. So here's the question: how do I really get rid of a ical event which I have already deleted?

Same here. After the update to 10.5 I have succesfully done one sync between my Treo and iCal using MissingSync. Now iCal gives an error, see below. What is the workaround? Downgrading to 10.4.x? Or get an iCal 2 somewhere and run that?

  • The Missing Sync for Palm OS v6.0.4 won't run with my Palm Tungsten E2

Having problems with Palm iSync on My iBook with 10.4.11 I bought The Missing Sync.
I removed Palm Desktop and installed Missing Sync. However sync won't start when I press the HotSync button.
Is my Palm Tungsten E2, running Palm OS Garnet v. 3.1.1 too old?
If so, can I upgrade it?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

No, there is nothing published - that I am aware of - other than the Missing Sync User Guide that you received [as portable document format file] when you purchased the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
There is some developer documentation available from Apple, but it has little direct bearing on anything like the issue you are seeing. Your crash logs should have provided an indication of what was going on, and - using them - Mark/Space should have been able to identify your issue pretty easily.
It's very difficult to troubleshoot unusual issues remotely. Common problems - which can be easily identified - are readily corrected just by following the instructions posted by some knowledgable person here in the Apple Discussions forums. Given the unique circumstances you report of total failure following the installation of the Missing Sync, it's very likely that the actual culprit in your configuration is NOT the Palm desktop, iSync, .Mac Sync, the Missing Sync for Palm OS or your Treo 600. Something unique about your configuration is likely responsible. Trying to eliminate the variables, though, is not an easy task.
One relatively easy way to troubleshoot such issues is to create a new user, reinstall the Missing Sync and attempt to synchronize using that new user account. If that process is successful, you'll immediately know that something involving your existing user account is responsible for the issue.

  • Dilemma: missing sync or e2sync?

i have googled and searched in apple discussions, i havent found good answers yet. (or perhaps i failed to find the right thread, sorry.)
Basically, I want to synchronize (seamlessly!) my treo 650, entourage, iCal, and addressbook.
I am using the sync update of entourage but i am disappointed by how my treo650 syncs with entourage. I would lose phone number/s and calendar events on my treo. All my Treo calendar events (except for birthdays) would not even "upload" into iCal and entourage.
I don't know what's the difference or advantage of missing sync and e2sync over each other. E2sync is designed to sync entourage and iCal and addressbook and devices. But i guess, this can also be done by missing sync? Missing sync seems to have better reviews than e2sync (my impression). But i am not sure whether missing sync can seamlessly sync entourage.
Which one really would give me no headache?

I am personally a fan of missing sync, when it comes to palm based devices (Do I recall right, when it comes to treo, that it is palm based?). Been using it since over a year to sync my Apple suite with my palm. This is my first choice for syncing a palm based device, rendering a lot more choices, option and better integration than Apple's Palm conduit. With Missing sync there are only in my opinin minor aspects to be taken care of while syncing these two different platforms.
Aside from Michael's suggestion you might want to take a look at:
    http://www.pocketmac.net/products/gobetween/indexg.html
It puts Entourage as a "device" into the devices to be synced by iSync, incorporting it into these syncing features.
It's been two years that I last used it (I do not use Entourage anymore since). At that time, it worked well, with a few shortcomings regarding the then more profound choices of using multiple addresses etc. in the Mac apps compared to Entourage.
At the time I found there was more care to be taken of how to enter data in Entourage and the Mac apps than with Missing Sync / Palm. Fields in both sets of program (e.g. Entourage Address Book) did not comply as well.
There have been a couple of upgrade notices since, which I did not make use of, but they seem to have improved quite a bit. So, if I had to go back to Entourage, I would do it with a combination of Pocketmac and Missing Sync.

  • Address Book images not syncing via .Mac sync

i recently decided to get serious about attaching images to my contacts in address book. the images sync perfectly with the iphone, but they dont sync at all between the other copies of address book on the various macs in my home. the addresses (text) sync just fine -- but not the images.
    what am i missing, here?

I had the same problem. My Mac's address book (including images) were synced via Missing Sync from my Windows Mobile phone. None of the images transferred to the iPhone. I then went into each Address Book entry and manually resized the image (edit, dc on the image and drag the slider to resize the image) and then resynced. Now all is perfect!
One side note- if you assign a contact image on the Mac or PC and sync to the phone, the image is shown in a small thumbnail on the top line of the phone when that person calls, etc... If instead you assign a photo on the iPhone itself using the "select current photo" option, then the photo is shown full screen instead of thumbnail! I copied all of my "CallerID" photos to an iPhoto photo album, synced that album to the phone, then manually assigned a photo to a contact on the phone and now they are full screen. Very cool!

  • Photos Not Syncing; Photos Missing From Albums, No Error Message, Running iTunes for Windows & iOS 7.1.2

I am having an issue with syncing my photos on my iOS devices running iOS 7.1.2, the two being an iPhone 4s and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.
When I sync photos, I keep on having photos turn up missing from entire albums. I have tried everything I can to resolve this issue from the support article titled <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3697">iTunes: Unable to sync photos</a>, and nothing has successfully worked in any kind of permanent form. I have even gone so far as to sync albums individually with a limit of around 400-500 total photos per sync, (give or take), and tried using what very little options I have on the photos tab for my devices in iTunes to essentially trick the devices to sync the missing photos. Despite this, iTunes still fails to sync newly added photos from the source location.
I have even made the attempt of re-installing iOS 7 on both devices, and restoring from backup. Again with no avail.
My best guess for my iPhone is that as it is a 16 GB, not all of 15.6 GB of photos will sync to the device, (go figure), but that doesn't explain why recent photos aren't added OR why my iPad 2 of 64 GB has missing photos.
As of this post, I have an estimated 38,940 files, spread across 1,703 folders, (a large amount of folders being in some of the folders; from my knowledge never being more than two folders in). They are all in one dedicated folder on a hard drive I've dedicated to iTunes and music related files, (for the sake of AVOIDING this kind of nonsense, I might add).
As for the system OS and iTunes, I am running Windows 7 64 bit, and I am using iTunes 11.2.2.3, but will have updated to iTunes 11.3 by the time anyone responds.

I have the exact same problem.
Same kind of photos/videos taken with the same camera randomly sync.
    Did 11.3 fix this issue?
    Sincerely

  • Iogear GBU211 and internet sharing with missing sync

I have an iogear GBU211 bluetooth to usb adapter and it has been behaving strangely. I use the connection between my TT3 and the computer keeps dropping and it cannot complete a full sync over bluetooth. I would also like to take advantage of internet sharing over the palm. I decided to give missing sync a try. I was finally able to perform a hotsync (as long as I didn't try to install anything to the palm), but the real problem hits when I try to use internet sharing. I get a kernel panic everytime. Here is the snippet from the panic.log file.

I would (i think) rather use the iogear as it has a better range and I don't want to go and buy the d-link. I dislike that apple is trying to force me to use the d-link adapter. Does anyone know of a fix for the iogear problem?

I do understand what you're saying Michael, it isn't exactly profitable to offer broad range support, but at the same time, a little broader would be a nice thing. In the case of the IOGear module, it's packaging did have the os X logo on it (if memory serves me correctly) and it did state it will work in Mac os as well. With that in mind, one would think that either or both IOGear and Apple would know about this and make sure that it does work, or, barring that, Apple should have IOGear pull their compatibility statement off of their packaging. As a consumer, if a product I purchase states that it will work with my machine, I would expect it to do so with minimal headaches.
In any case, as for my main problem (no wise cracks please), I caved and picked up the D-Link. I had a friend with a pee cee who needed a bluetooth adapter, so, for a "fair" price, I was able to go grab the D-Link.
With the exception of it's shorter range than the IOGear BT adapter, it has worked flawlessly (so far).

  • Are you having problems syncing with Pocketmac, Missing Sync or Media Sync? Here's what I did...

Just throwing this out there as a solution that worked for my situation. It may not work for everyone's needs.
After NUMEROUS emails back and forth with Pocketmac support I was finally told that Pocketmac will not work if Media Sync is also installed. It causes the "Error 1 Skipping" problem due to a USB driver conflict. So I tried Missing Sync's free trial. No good. It would not sync either, so paying money for the non trial version wasn't going to happen.
So, I ended up keeping Media Sync to keep my iTunes library synced and I started to use a wonderful little free app called "Google Sync". It works beautifully for my needs. It runs in the background (with no negative effect to the BB's performance or battery life) and automatically syncs your gmail contacts and google calendar to your BB device. If you change something on either the BB itself or online, google sync catches it and updates the other accordingly.
So if your sick and tired of messing around with Pocketmac and Missing Sync, give Google Sync a try. I love it!

it was only burning at 4x even though 47x was requested.
That's a issue discussed in the past.
It turns out that 8X DVD burning means about 47X CD burning - you were requesting 8X DVD but only got 4X DVD burning.
I haven't seen it discussed anymore so maybe Apple got around to eliminating that 'quirk' in terminology.
I suspect some of the early 8x DVD burners didn't perform as advertised. I'm glad your new 16X burner is working for you.

  • WOES: iSync, Palm Pilot, iCal, Missing Sync, Palm Desktop, Ericsson Phone

Here's my situation, I've been a long time Palm user, and fairly recently (within a year) a new Mac user. I've always used the Palm Desktop on my PC in the past. I've had a Palm Vx for years, and fairly recently (within a year) I bought a Palm Zire 72 and a Sony Ericsson S170a cell phone. I also have an iPod Photo.
I really would like to sync up my address book, calendars, memos, maybe even photos, with all my devices. I tried using iSync, but nothing seam to work right, so I tried a million things, now everything is messed up.
For right now, I'm just trying to get my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the correect times, alarms, colors, and groups).
I'm really frustrated with trying to get the mac's iCal, the palm pilot, the phone to all have the same calendar info. I really like iCal, and the mac address book, and how well it works with the mail app. As well as subscribing to shared iCals. Especially the holiday ones! I use to have to enter all that info by hand, and have them "other" repeater. The Palm Desktop software's calendar and address book is pretty clunky compared to the Mac apps, or even the Palm Desktop for the PC. But everything is messed up now. I even tried the "missing sync" software and it messed it up even worse.
Several of my cal events are now GONE from iCal, my Palm Pilot, and my Phone! Many of them have duplicates, some have wrong times. Some have right groups, some don't. The ones that do have right groups, don't have any colors applied to them. If I create certain calendars on the mac and sync with the palm, the groups do not come over. If I create them on the Palm, the groups don't come over on the mac. Getting the colors/groups to match, and all 3 items to sync all at once is a nightmare as well. There were a million conflicts, and chose the correct ones, but some of them would NOT let me pick the one I wanted, it would just keep on saying "conflict".
What would AT LEAST get me back to the original info on the Palm and the Mac would be to restore from my Palm Desktop software, but I can't get to that because it looks like the missing sync software has messed the conduit/hot sync manager up. I can no longer get to my Palm Desktop condiut settings. I'd re-install the palm software to get it back, but I will probably loose all the data stored in Palm Desktop. This is the ONLY place that has the correct info right now. I'm varry warry about loosing that information. I use to have the PC copy, and the Palm Copy, and it was all right. The Palm Desktop has an import/export feature, but it doesn't seam to carry all the info (like notes attatched to cal events).
Also, has anyone tried to RESTORE a Palm Pilot not using the Palm Desktop software? When I had to reset my Palm, I tried using iSync or even missing sync to get all my apps, settings, calendars, address books, everything, but it never put the info back on the Palm. This info was always restored with Palm Desktop.
And let's just say I DO get back all my calendar items back into the Palm, and the Palm Desktop software up and running correctly. What is the proper way to do what I was trying to do in the begining? Which was "just have my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the right times, alarms, colors, and groups)." I don't seam to have too many problems with contacts. Except work/home fields seam to swap all the time.
    What I'm running:
    G4 PowerMac w/ Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.3)
Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8)
    Missing Sync (v5.0.3)
    Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1)
    Sony Ericsson S170a Cell Phone
    iPod Photo 60GB
G4 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8), Missing Sync (v5.0.3), Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1), Sony

Where to start? Maybe with some background about the synchronization process.
What Apple hasn't explained outside of the developer community is that you are not actually synchronizing applications [like iCal or the Address Book] or servers [like .Mac] or devices [like your mobile handset or a Palm organizer] when you initiate a synchronization. What you are really doing is triggering an interaction with one or more of these and the SyncServices engine, which maintains what is termed the 'truth database'—or simply, the 'truth'—to which is pushed, or from which is pulled, the current state of data maintained in fields and records for one or more specific data types. Because of the way this process works, it is not necessary to have all synchronized devices available or attached when a synchronization event occurs.
You can synchronize your SONY Ericsson S710a, a process which exchanges the most current data maintained in the truth with it, and hours later, plug in your iPod, an action which will trigger iTunes to pull the latest data from the truth and write it to the iPod, updating your contact and calendaring records. The same is true for other applications, servers and devices.
While it all seems clumsy and confusing, it is actually a huge step forward in making synchronization nearly automatic, almost transparent, and virtually mistake proof. It's clear that there is some distance to go before those objectives are achieved, but SyncServices is actually a huge improvement over the prior synchronization technology in iSync 1.5 and earlier.
That said, there are bugs in SyncServices, and in the applications written by several developers to take advantage of it, along with issues in at least iCal, and probably the Address Book, that complicate what you are trying to achieve. It's possible to do, and once working, should work nearly flawlessly. But, it takes some planning to get there.
First, a word about backing up your data. It's a good idea to periodically back up contact and calendaring records using the facilities built into iCal and the Address Book which appear in the File menu of each application. These options make easily restorable local snapshots of your data. Should something go terribly wrong with a synchronization event, you can immediately restore your iCal or Address Book data from these files. In addition, it's a good idea to have a more comprehensive backup plan in place, using Backup and .Mac, Backup and rewritable media, and so on.
To synchronize photos, music and other media files, you'll need to use the Missing Sync for Palm OS. iSync just does not support anything beyond contact, calendaring and task data. To begin the process, you should simplify your device pool, initially concentrating only on getting a complete, accurate set of contact, event and task records pushed to the truth from the Address Book and iCal, and onto your Palm.
You will have to take an inventory of where the best records reside, and insure that you get them into iCal and the Address Book before attempting to synchronize your Palm, because to do it properly, initially, you will have to overwrite the data on your Palm, replacing it with records from iCal and the Address Book. If you're going to edit them by making additions, changes and deletions, perform all of those in iCal and the Address Book until you have synchronized your Palm device or devices with them. Backup before performing the initial synchronization, and be sure to overwrite each Palm device the first time.
If you want a historic snapshot of the data on either Palm device before doing this, first follow the instructions provided by Mark/Space to use the standard Palm conduits instead of Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks, and be sure to set each Palm conduit to Palm overwrites handheld in order to transfer the data from your Palm Vx and Zire 72 to the Palm Desktop. Once there, those records can be exported as vCard and vCal files, and easily imported into the Address Book and iCal if you wish to do that. Edit them as you see fit, once they have been transfered. If you elect to do that, you must thereafter turn off these Palm conduits and reconfigure the Missing Sync to use the Mark/Space conduits, again choosing to have your computer replace the contents on each Palm device on the first synchronization.
Once you've achieved a 'balance' with the records in iCal, the Address Book and your handheld organizers, you can reset the records on your mobile handset. iSync alone performs this function, and later synchronization events with your SONY Ericsson S710a will always be manually triggered, and performed using iSync, not the Missing Sync. Reset once, and subsequently synchronize.
Anything else you want to add to the mix—.Mac Sync, for example—you can then add, initially performing a reset of your .Mac data, then subsequently synchronizing.
Synchronization of your iPod is handled by iTunes and only pulls data from the truth, so it need not be reset, as it cannot write changes to the truth which would adversely affect your other devices.

  • Treo 755p, Leopard, missing sync, no event syncing

i initially had entourage but decided it *****, so i'd simply use ical and apple mail. when i had entourage i installed the palm software, but used isync to sync and everything worked fine. once i stopped uing entourage, and deleted the conduits, isync wouldn't sync anything.
after lots of reading i decided to try and get things moving with The Missing Sync. it now looks like my tasks and address book are syncing, but my calendar does not. kind of important, i think. my photos don't sync anymore, either, but im way more concerned with the events
i'd be very gratefu for any assistance anyone can give. i've searched this forum, but i keep getting hits from 2005-06!

Well, not to split hairs, but the actual issue is with the fact that apple does not sync properly with Treo's using the native iSync application. Due to the known issue, Apple itself pimps The Missing Sync as a "Productivity Tool." http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/productivity_tools/
Due to this fact I was hoping for a response from someone here who could help me with this.
I will certainly look around in the Mark Space forum; however, if anyone here could help me i would really appreciate it.

ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by
ICRC or ABRT error as described in the section called “ATA/ATAPI device error (non-NCQ / non-CHECK CONDITION)”.
Controller-specific error completion with error information indicating transmission error.
On some controllers, command timeout. In this case, there may be a mechanism to determine that the timeout is due to transmission error.
Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • Need help with Missing Sync

    Hi Guys
I have a Treo 650 and I use missing sync. It was working fine when I was syncing with address book and iCal. I wanted to use Entourage and I followed some instructions and then I moved the Entourage conduit to Conduit folder and now it syncs with Entourage although not perfect. I want to switch back to address book and iCal but the missing sync is not working properly. I would appreciate any help in this regard.
    Vijay

    In Hot Sync,
Bring down the options menu (the key with the lines and down arrow).
Go to Connection Setup, New, and choose Connect To: "PC". Via: "Bluetooth". You can choose a name for this connection.
Go back to the main Hot Sync screen.
With "Local" highlighted, you should have a menu below the hot sync icon and your connection name should be listed.
Make sure that is your chosen connection when you sync and you shouldn't have to go through the setup each time.
