1131 ACCESS POINTS BOUNCING
I have a site with Lightweight 1131 access points, with 5508 WLC's in HA running Code 7.4.110. In 2 areas of one site the access points are bouncing, I have attached the logs from one of the AP's at the site. The switch that the AP's are connected to is a WS-C3750-24P SW VERSION: 12.2(55)SE1. This has only happened in 2 areas on the site, and only 24 Access Points out of 335. HELP!!!!!!
Hi Scott
I have 184.2 Watts remaining on the switch. I have just come back from site having tried the following:
1. Took and AP from another site, this worked.
2. Bounced the Access Points to a controller still running 7.3.101.0 this also worked.
3. Bounced the Ap's back to their local controller, they went back to not functioning correctly.
We upgraded to Code 7.4.110 it was an,assured, tested version from Cisco, to fix other issues we had. Any help would be welcome.

Please provide the documentation to configure 1131 Access Point.
We are getting documentation for 1130 and not for 1131.
Help wouldl be highly apprecited.Hi Navinder,
It's the same. 1130 is the generic model number while 1131/1132 is a specific model number. -
Cisco module controller & 1131 access-point
I'm using a blade as a controller in a cisco router. trouble is it does not see
the 1131 access-points. does see 1020 access points. Any thoughtsIf you are using OP 43 to tell the access points where to find the controllers you will need a new entry for the 1130 series of access points.

1131 access point, broken flash?
I have had two 1131 access points die in the last few weeks, both with the same symptoms. I suspect both have broken flash systems and are due for the bin. If anyone can offer any confirmation or a way to fix it, I would be grateful.
On booting, it gives the following error:
Xmodem file system is available.
flashfs[0]: unable to allocate available block.
The system has been interrupted, or encountered an error
during initializion of the flash filesystem. The following
commands will initialize the flash filesystem, and finish
loading the operating system software:
flash_init
ether_init
tftp_init
boot
ap:
Trying to wake up the flash:
ap: flash_init
Initializing Flash...
flashfs[0]: unable to allocate available block.
...done Initializing Flash.
ap: dir flash
unable to stat flash/: permission denied
I have tried the standard recovery mode of uploading a new firmware via TFTP, but I can't even set variables:
ap: set IP_ADDR 10.0.0.1
flash:/env_vars.tmp: invalid argument
The filesystem containing the variables may not be initialized yet. Thanks for the tip, however I should probably have said the access points are autonomous, so the method you suggested will not work.
Yes it does.
You need a two-step method.
Your AP is booting up with either no IOS or a corrupt IOS.
1. In order to efficiently transfer the IOS to an AP that has no IOS you need to use the process I've posted earlier.
2. Once the AP boots up in autonomous mode, it's as easy as giving the BVI1 an IP address and use the command "copy tftp: flash:" to transfer the LWAP/CAPWAP IOS to the AP. -
Cisco 1131 access point status led
Hi
Any one experienced a white light on the status led, its the "ring light" infront of the AP. ive checked on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1130/installation/guide/113h_c4.html where all colours are listed and none point done to white.
ANy ideas?
ThanksHere's an update on this issue. I have had about a 2% failure rate on my 3502i's due to blue, green, and white light freezing. We sent several unit to Cisco's wireless engineer team in Richfield. They have found the issue and have written a fix and are currently doing testing this weekend. They are sending a senior wireless engineer to my office on Monday morning to apply the fix on the 200 units that we have yet to deploy. This is the bad part: the fix can only be applied through the console port and they won't have this integrated into a controller code until May/June. The good news is they have a fix or will just RMA with no questions. I have a webex with their wireless team to explain exactly what the issue is, but from what I gathered is something to do with the boot loader image and the IBM chip in the unit. I will follow up with you guys on Mon/Tues.

1131 access point intermittently stops responding
We have an 17 offices with the same basic wireless config. 2 or 3 ap's with the same configuration on them. This one particular office has 2 ap's that intermittently will stop responding to pings and are no longer reachable via telnet or http and users cannot connect through the ap. We are running c1130-k9w7-mx.124-3g.JA1/c1130-k9w7-mx.124-3g.JA1.
I had the site (located in Spain) send me pics of the ap's and noticed that they are not mounted, just laying on ceiling tiles in a plenum ceiling.
Once the ap's are again reachable there is nothing in the log that would suggest there was a problem and the ap does not reboot.
Any ideas?

What is the switchport config of the port connected to the AP? The AP is set to be 100/Full, if the switch isn't set as well, you could be going half-duplex and losing connecitvity due to that. -
WLC 5508 and remote site (DMVPN) Access Points
Hi All,
We just purchased a WLC 5508 and would like to know if it will control remote VPN site Access Points. Here are the details:
The 5508 will live at our home office. We have multiple remote sites that are connected via Cisco's DMVPN. Each site has one Cisco 1131 Access Point hanging off of either a Cisco 1841 or a 2811 that is using DMVPN back to the home office 2811. Can the 5508 manage the remote Access Points?
Thanks for your help guys! Are you are talking about OfficeExtend?

Bridging with 1131 Ag series access point.
Hi,
I want to use 1131 AG series access point for bridging between two buildings which are 20 metres apart from each other.
Is it possible and what are the limitation for this design?
Please help.
thanks in advance.
Pulkit SharmaHi Pulkit,
The autonomous 1130AG series access point supports these operating wireless modes:
? Root access point?Connected to a wired LAN and supports wireless clients.
? Repeater access point? Not connected to a wired LAN, associates to a root access point, and supports wireless clients
? Workgroup bridge? Not connected to a wired LAN, associates to a root access point or bridge, and supports wired network devices.
As this unit was not designed to be use outdoors, having a clean RF line of sight is really difficult. To be honest I do not think this unit was designed to connect two remote buildings even if the units are indoors. I would look for APs with detachable antennas like the 1242AG or the 1200 modular series so you can use external antennas and bridging roles.
Hope it helps,
Roger Carpio. -
Access Points do not show in CDP neighbor
Hi All,
Last night I was performing mainteance on access points throughout the network. I was converting them from Local to H-REAP to allow for vlan support. The maintenance went well however afterwards I've noticed access points are not showing up in CDP neighbor and with a "show power inline" the access points shows as a IEEE PD. This is causing some weird issues where a client can connect but then will lose it's DHCP address. The problem happened on 9 of the 12 floors that I did this on and there is no configuration differences and bouncing the access points did not resolve the issue. The access points do show a blue light.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? If so what did you do to fix it?
I have a mix of 1131 and 1142N access points on a 4402 WLC running version 6.0.188.0.
Thank you,
Chris PrattThe maintenance went well however afterwards I've noticed access points are not showing up in CDP neighbor and with a "show power inline" the access points shows as a IEEE PD.
I see all the time.
"sh cdp neigh" shows nothing and "sh power inline" shows the port connected to the WAP as "IEEE". This is mostly caused by faulty cabling. If you have the right Cisco switch, you can test the cable using the in-built TDR feature.
Here's how you do it:
1. Command: test cable tdr interface
2. Wait for about 5 to 7 seconds;
3. Command: sh cable tdr interface
4. Please post the complete output. -
Access points wont accept clients on 2.4 GhZ
Hi
We are having some Issue with some Access Points are dropping clients on 2.4 GhZ radio, the radio is if you SSH to the Access Point "Dot11Radio0 is up, line protocol is up".
Our setup is 2 x Wism2 controller (7.5), a CPI (1.4), and around 750 Access points of various types (1121, 1131, 1142, 2602).
If we reset the Access Point from CPI it comes up and it will again accept clients on 2.4 GhZ for a random time period, sometimes it works for some hours, sometimes for a couple of days, total random.
The once we have seen the problem on is as I know 1142:
Software Version
7.5.102.0
Boot Version
12.4.23.0
AP Model
AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9
IOS Version
15.2(4)JA1$
Hope to get help finding a solution.
Best regards
JørgenIf you have a high density deployment, you might want to look at your RRM. What is the power set to on the AP's. If the power is set too low, that can cause clients not to see or be able to join an access point. If this is the case, you need to set the min tx power level for the 2.4ghz radio which is under the wireless tab in the 802.11bgn TPC.
If you have an issue with a certain AP model, it might be a bug, but you didn't mention what model AP is was happening to.

Capturing MAC Addresses from an Access Point AP1131 with SNMP
Hi!
I'm trying to use SNMP to track information as to whats connected to
our access points. The purpose is basic security and auditing in case
of a problem ( virus, technical problem, etc ). We're already able to
capture what wired devices are connected, but not the MAC addresses of
the wireless clients.
We're employing Cisco Aironet APs 1131, and looking around the MIBs, I found
one object that has what I want, but it's not accessible.
cDot11ClientAddress OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX MacAddress
MAX-ACCESS not-accessible
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"The MAC address of the client."
::= { cDot11ClientConfigInfoEntry 1 }
Does any one know another way to get this information via SNMP?
Thanks U by advance!

IOS 4.2.1 breaks web-based authentication to wifi access points
Whenever I tried to access the *wifi access points* I use more often *whose authentication is web-based*, like the one at my public library or at my office, although I input my username and password correctly, I am always bounced back to the login form.
Before iOS 4.2.1 I know that there was a problem of this sort already, related to *some incompatibility between Safari's auto-fill features and the access points*, that could be solved by simply turning off auto-fill, and I did that. But know *it looks like the problem got to a new level of subtlety*.
Interestingly, *everything worked nicely while I was using the Gold Master version of iOS 4.2.0* that never made it to release, so the solution has to be found among the differences between 4.2.0 and 4.2.1, if you're an Apple engineer reading this.
Can you help? Any idea or trick to try that I didn't already? Thanks!
GiaceccoHi Richard,
You mentioned that 'Apple put the AirPrint spec out there for all printer makers'. I've been looking around but I haven't found any spec. Where did you find it?
Do printer makers have to buy a license in order to be able to advertise that they've implemented the AirPrint protocol? Is there maybe an Apple review process in place?
TIA

Access point are not coming up after upgrade image of WLC
Hi,
I have AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 WLC i that current IOS is 7.0.98.218 and i upgraded with 7.0.116.0 IOS but after upgrading and reboot the WLC from 15 access point 3 access point are not coming up and 12 are coing up and working fine (4 1142 and 11 1131 series access point) 3 which are not coimg is 1131 series access point. when i login with console to 3 access point its rebooting 2 times and coming on ap: prompt.
In between that i reloaded the WLC one more time because from 15 acess point only 4 aceess point are came up and i also cleck the show boot on wlc its output is
7.0.116.0 (default)
7.0.98.218 (active)
so i reload the wlc and checked out of 15 acess point now 12 acess point are up and still 3 are not. And i also checked the output of show boot command its
7.0.116.0 (default)(active)
7.0.98.218
So i things its because of when 2nd time i reload the wlc the remaining 3 access point are getting image from wlc but because of reload its connection should be loss and error loading flash error are coming on acess point.
After that i recover the IOS for access point and convert into autonomus and from autonomus convert into Leightweight Access point. I also attached the procedure for recover the ios of access poing
But my question is why this 3 access point are not coming up is this happen's after upgrading wlc can any one please send me Step by Step WLC S/W Upgrade' process and if this this happens some time please send me any doccument related to this.Sunil,
When you rebooted the controller did you do it from the Web GUI, the CLI, or did you physically reboot the controller? I believe and maybe incorrect but if your getting the ap: < prompt > that means that there is no firmware on the unit. If you have restored these to functioning autonomous unit and then re-converted them to Lightweight and it's still happening then we need to look at a debug output of what is happening when those AP's attempt to join the controller.
The capture you attached shows that it appears to join the controller and get a config, but are you saying that when it reboots again it stops working?? the other thing I would reccomend is clear out the flash memory since your capture shows the possibility that there are several copies stored there.
Hope this helps. -
LWAPP Access Point IOS Upgrade?
Using a 4400 Wireless Controller and WCS how do you upgrade the LWAPP IOS on Access Points to the latest version or is this even necessary? My LWAPP access points are fully functional 1131's and converted 1230's, but I would like to know what the procedure to update ios's are when a new one comes out. Do these automatically install when you update the controller software or do I need to download new IOS periodically and copy it to the controller or WCS, etc? What do you think?
Hi Jim,
When a Lightweight AP is connected to the WLC it has the same Version as the WLC. For example if the WLC is running 4.0.155.1 the AP is running 4.0.155.1. If you upgrade the WLC to a new version the AP's are upgraded at the same time. There is no need to do anything with the AP's themselves.
Hope this helps!

Is Cisco air-ap1230a a lightweight access point?
Is Cisco air-ap1230a a lightweight access point? Can it be use for the new CCNP training?
ThanksHi Bao,
The 1230 is not a Lightweight AP, but can be upgraded to LWAPP with the A Radio model listed below (Note that this model is EOS/EOL) this is probably not the best choice for your studies;
Solution Requirements
Migration from autonomous access point mode to lightweight mode is possible on these Cisco Aironet access point platforms:
All 1130AG access points
All 1240 AG access points
For all IOS-based 1200 series modular access point (1200/1220 Cisco IOS Software Upgrade, 1210 and **1230 AP**) platforms, it depends on the radio:
if 802.11G, MP21G and MP31G are supported
if 802.11A, RM21A and RM22A are supported
The 1200 series access points can be upgraded with any combination of supported radios: G only, A only, or both G and A.
All 1310 AG access points
