Thanks

Hello, we use 10g Enterprise Manager Console on our windows desktops as a gui tool. We installed the administrator version of 11g client, but I cannot find the Enterprise Manager Console. Does anyone know where this is?

This database may also be used for the RMAN repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.

  • 11g client enterprise manager console

enterprise manager did not install with installation of 11g client Administrator version. The documentation says that there is a standalone enterprise manager console with 11g client. Does anyone know how to install this console?

There is no longer any oem standalone console in 11g, this is a new feature in 11g. There is a java application named sql developer and the web enterprise manager console, that's it.

  • Execute Enterprise Manager Console

I am running my Oracle 9.2 on Linux Red Hat 8.0. I would like to know how can I execute the Enterprise Manager Console without having to launch a terminal and type in "oemapp console"??
Is that anyway to launch the Enterprise Manager Console GUI??
    Thanks!

You can create a "shortcut", gnome calls them launchers, on the desktop.
Right click an empty space on the desktop, then select New Launcher from the context menu. Fill in the blanks. Now, all you need to do is click the launcer.

  • How to search the indexes in 11g Enterprise Manager Console

    Hi,
After setting the Indexes using Java Embedding for a process, can you please tell me how to search the indexes in 11g Enterprise Manager Console for the particular process. In 10g BPEL Console we have the option of searching the Instances based on Indexes we already set at process level which is inbuilt in 10g. I need the same in 11g .
    Thanks,
    Sagar.

    Hi Sagar,
You can define composite sensors in your composite.
Then you will get fields in enterprise manager of that composite instance.(the sensors you have defined will be displayed here)
You can enter the values based on what you want to search the instance. :)

  • Strange problem with 10G using client installed enterprise manager console

I have successfully installed 10G on our SUSE linux 9.0 server, I have created 6 databases (standard edition of the database) and verified their parameter files, control files, and database files are in different locations --- all done at the server console. I created my DBA account on all 6 databases and logged into each one to verify their function.
I returned to my PC where I have installed the 10G client and where I have used the 8 and 9 enterprise manager console to manage my databases. I got the TNSNAMES file in order for the new databases. I logged into the first database and tested my workstation connectivity successfully , I logged into the second database and it said my password was incorrect. I ended up signing in on the second database with my first databases account password. (it then worked). I got fed up hopping around with the mystery with the password being stored somewhere in the enterprise manager java ? and logged in as system and changed all of my passwords. I then went up to the console and found that the only database that they changed on was the first one.
I returned to my workstation and started creating the data files and users and roles in the first database. I now on either workstation in my office, when logging in as ANY of the six database DBA accounts, can see all the objects I created in the first database.
I went to the server console and logged in and verified that the objects only exist in the first database. For some reason the enerprise manager console is really a problem. I have windows XP. Our database is on 10G but we are not taking advantage of grid control due to budget reasons (one server only).
I have heard there is a url based web management console at: http://serverip:5500/em, but it is not working currently in our environment and it will be up to our sys. engineers to release / open up that port through our DMZ. Ordinarily would this allow the kind of control that the old enterprise manager console would?
Is my installing the grid conrol product going to be "overkill" and not useful for me or should I install it?
Is there an alternative 10G version of the enterprise manager console for simpler environments like mine?
Is there a good explanation why my workstations are presenting "false" cached information above what is really in the database for objects unique to each database - ie: why are my #1 database objects showing up in EMC as objects in all databases and why is EMC managing/storing my passwords.?
I just need to get the best choice to manage my environment.
I know I have asked a lot of questions and I would appreciate any insight from someone who has encountered this before.

    fixed
    - the alias in the TNSNAMES was correct but the actual database "service_name" was the first db - -- a long project / late night oversight. I also went into the sysman\ifiles\ and corrected the entry for the database there too where it had registered the settings for the wrong database.

  • How to start the enterprise Manager  console in GUI based.

I am totally confuse while using oracle10g Enterprise Manager Console based. I can't able to get the administrator privileges. Even though I had the administrator privileges and password I knew. But while administrating through Enterprise Manager in 10g little bit confuse for me.
Help me .. I am here to hear a quick response as soon as possible

DBA database privilege is different from EM Administrator privilege. Check to ensure you have the right one.

  • Enterprise Manager Console

    Hello,
I'm reading documentation about Oracle10g, and I am a little bit confused. I have understood that it hasn't the Enterprise Manager Console and that the Administration task has to be executed from the OEM Grid Control (or OEM Database Control). But now, reading the "Advanced Replication 10g Release 2" (B14226-01) doc, in the 7th chapter it explains the Replication Management Tool in Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. So the question is: can I install the Enterprise Manager Console in the clients, if I have Oracle10g (10.2.0.1) in the server?
I would really appreciate any answer, because although I have tried using the Grid Control, I can't. I'm sorry but the Console GUI is much better for me.
    Thanks in advance. Regards,
    Aran

I take it you are looking for the old-style, java-based standalone EM Console. It is still around, but probably on it's way out.
You install it from the 10.2 Client media, which you can download from here.

  • Oracle 8i: Oracle enterprise manager console

    Dear all,
I installed oracle 8i (8.1.6) server on linux and client on my own NT
machine. I had no problem to access the database using sqlplus and DBA
studio. I also configured oracle management server and tried to using
Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. Also, there was no problem to discover
the node and to ping agent. But, when I tried to connect to the database,
it gave me the following error message: "ORA-12545: connect failed because
target host or object does not exit". Can someone help me out?
    Thanks.
    Dewei

add or drop users, Using GUI tools could be sometime dangerous.
You can always use performance diagnostic (oracle provided) to have performance stats in graphical display.
You can also use EM Grid Control (10g) in order to maintain 8i and 9i with 10g EM Grid control.
You need to install an agent on those database in order to communicate with 8i and 9i.

  • Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager DB control vs Enterprise Manager Console

We have a consultant install Oracle 10g on Windows platform. Somehow, I only see Enterprise Manager Console installed and I can use this console to access database. I don't see Enterprise Manager Database Control installed. What difference between Console and DB control? Please advise.
    Thanks

I see the interfaces are totally different. the console is more like Oracle 9i. I know the DB control is a web tool, just for Oracle 10g. My question is in terms of admin, which one is better? Why Oracle has different tool to manage Database? The Oracle Enterprise Manager Console is a Java Standalone client, not a 3-tier product like the EM DB Console.
The Java Standalone client was deprecated in 10gR1. Probably since not all features had been ported to the 3-tier DB Console (eg: Spatial index management and Workspace Management), Oracle decided to let us use the Java Console as an extra install from the Client/Companion disk. However it is no longer available going forward into 11g.
If you look at the 'Console' carefully, you will not that some areas are no longer functional and it does not cover all capability of 10g, for example in partitioning and indexing.

  • Enterprise Manager Console in Ora10g?

    Hey everyone... I
#1 Don't have memory to spare on my client's machine to run the EM website,
#2 Don't like it all that well anyway.
Is there any way to get Enterprise Manager Console (the Java version -- Originally called DBA Studio) back for 10g? Am I going to have to install Oracle 9i Client JUST for Enterprise Manager? Just wondering...

    Hello Mahendran,
    > But in our new Oracle 10.2.0.4 there is no option like that
If you download the full oracle client (not the instant one), you have an option for installing the enterprise manager console. To be honest it is not exactly the same as the "old" enterprise manager .. but it looks like the same and if you don't use the whole enterprise manager functions it will be sufficient.
You also have the possibility to use a Web Interface with Oracle 10g. It is called Enterprise DB Console or if you want the whole framework it is called Grid Control.

  • Enterprise manager console error

    Hi all

My pc is a notebook with a partition c: with the system and the data partition d.
i look into some bat file that launch some oracle application ant it seem that use the jvm distribuited with the oracle client 10g under oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\jdk.
    Why doesn't works?
    Thanks!

Hi all i try some solution but not works.
The problem seems like oracle can't find or can't find the right version of java library therefore i think the solution is to set the right jvm for the oracle
products but how i can do this?
    Any idea?
    Thanks!!!

  • Enterprise Manager Console does not open in browser following patch 41

Last week I installed patch 41 on my Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 Database. The database resides on a Windows 2008 enterprise server (not R2). After the patch ran successfully, I have not been able to get into the GUI Enterprise Management Console to work since. It appears to make a connection to the logon screen and you can see urls/images loading in the browser, but the resulting browser screen for the logon is blank with "Oracle Enterprise Manager" on the title of the tab (non-descript object error in lower left corner). I get the same results with localhost or server name in the address bar.
This was working before the upgrade. I have already successfully recreated the repository and verified that the dbconsole is up and running. I have "googled" this to death and cannot find a solution. I know I can still do things through the command line but for a quick glance at the databases, the grid control is nice to have.
Any suggestions for fixes would be appreciated.

I couldn't locate anything substantiial in the log files under my Oracle Home. However, I could be looking in the wrong log files. Any suggestions on which log file I should be checking.

  • Oracle Database 11gR1 Enterprise Manager Console Cannot Display in Browser

    Folks,
Hello. I am running Oracle Database 11gR1 with Operaing System Oracle Linux 5. I have some issues regarding EM connects with the Database Server as below:
First, the default listener is LISTENER with standard port number 1521 and protocol TCP/IP.
Its corresponding service naming S1 is with port 1521 and protocol TCP/IP and hostname localhost.localdomain.
I run this listener in the following way:
Step 1: [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER (This command runs sucessfully.)
Step 2: [user@localhost bin] ./sqlplus SYS/SYS as sysdba (This command starts sqlplus sucessfully.)
Step 3: [user@localhost sqldeveloper] ./sqldeveloper.sh (This command invokes SQL Developer sucessfully.)
But when start Enterprise Manager Console, it cannot connect with the Database. I do it in this way:
    [user@localhost bin] ./emctl start dbconsole
    The above command's output is:
    https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control ... ...
When open the link https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication in browser, this message comes up:
The connection to localhost.localdomain: 1158 cannot be established.
Thus, I add Port Number 1158 into both LISTENER and Service Naming S1. I run ./emctl start dbconsole again and get this message:
The connection to localhost.localdomain:1158 was interrupted while the page was loading.
In order to solve the above issue, I create another listener LISTENER2 and another Service Naming S2 with Port Number 1158 and protocol TCP/IP because
in my point of view, each listener only can have one Port Number(1521 or 1158) and its corresponding Service Naming (S1 or S2) need to have the same Port Number and Protocol (TCP/IP).
But when I run [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER2, this message comes up: the listener supports no service.
From the message, it seems that LISTENER2 cannot work with its corresponding Service Naming S2 with Port 1158.
EM with Port 1158 cannot display in Browser.
    My questions are :
First, Is there any relationship needed to be established between listener(LISTENER2) and Service Naming(S2) in order to display EM in Browser ?
Second, how do folks display EM in browser ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. I do the following command: [user@localhost bin]$ wget http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em
