Is there a package I can use to install the 11G client that includes SQL*Loader?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    All,
Our 10g Oracle Client install includes the Oracle Directory Manager.
We just installed the Administration version of the 11g client and I don't see ODM there.
Can someone verify that ODM is not bundled with the 11g client?
If it is bundled, how do I run it? The 11g Installer did not give me a menu item for it.
    Thanks,

  • Transition from 10g client to 11g client causing locks

Currently our middleware is using the System.Data.Oracle objects with the 10g client install and we've recently started converting to an 11g database and upgrading our client software.  However, during high loads we're seeing concurrency problems with the 11g client installed, specifically library cache locks.  The problem seems to disappear when we downgrade to the 10g client software.
Using the fully managed driver also replicates the problem. Disabling the statement caching using the managed driver has been unclear so far and there have been no other code changes in the environment. Obviously we need to move off of the System.Data objects but has anyone seen anything similar to this?

    Thanks sb for the reply.
I have checked and there is not sqlnet.ora on the client.
Pls find below the COPY & PASTER of sqlplus from the client.

  • Download for XDK 11g as add-on to 11g Client?

    At http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdkhome.html I can see only a 10g XDK package. Where's the 11g XDK?
I have sample OCI Spatial code, which also depends on XMLType, and thus the code includes xml.h, but this header is only available as part of a full 11g server install, not the 11g client install.
I don't think it's practical to have all developers install the server instead of the client just to be able to interact in the code with XMLType. Does anyone know when the 11 XDK will be available as a stand-alone download?
Any advice / work-around awaiting this, to avoid having to install the full 11g server?
    Thanks, --DD

  • Oo4o ofr 64 bit 11g client on windows 7

    hi,
can anyone tell the path from where I can download oo4o component for oracle 11g client installed on Windows 7 64 bit OS?
    Rgds,
    megha

I currently have a VB6 application using OO4O (oip10.tlb/dll). Our company is moving to x64 Windows 7. My application is not compatible with the version of Oracle (10.2) being installed on the Windows 7 boxes.
What are potential workarounds for this situation?
I find it rather frustrating that I build an application to use Oracle functionality that is later (now) being dropped... but it is what it is.
If I'm to move to something other than OO4O, what is the best choice?
Assuming it's a different VB6 project reference and the connection object can be used the same way programmatically, it shouldn't be too hard... but if I have to reword all my queries and Oracle procedure calls... it's going to be ugly.
Please advise. I'm kind of in a real bind here.

  • Is it possible to have 64-bit 11g Full Install and 32-Client on 1 computer?

    Here's why I ask:
I have installed a full 64-bit 11g R2 install on my Windows 7 D: drive, installed two DB's, worked great. Then I realized application I need to support (Cognos 10.1) requires 32-bit client (for drivers) so I installed the 11g client also on D: drive as well (for space reasons).
My problem is that my registry only shows one ORACLE_HOME--the 64-bit full install whereas Cognos reqs to point to 32-bit client.
My sqlplus in the 64-bit OH worked fine (D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) whereas the 32-bit client sqlplus (D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) did not work. The error was:
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Mon Sep 26 18:02:30 2011
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Enter user-name: cognos
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Any login id (sys, system, etc) gave same error. 64-bit sql-plus worked fine. If I opened a cmd prompt and navigated to the 32-bit sqlplus under the client this WOULD work to login (but then I noticed it was using the 64-bit ORACLE_HOME and PATH settings if I typed set). In order to fix Cognos, I changed my ORACLE_HOME and path to point to the 32-bit client (i.e. from D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 to
    ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1
    PATH = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\syswow64;C:\Program Files\Intel\WiFi\bin\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\WirelessCommon\
Guess what? This stopped both the 64-bit and 32-bit sqlplus from working, even after bouncing the computer. Now the listener (64-bit) OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener will also not start either.
Sooooo, I think I need to set the OH and PATH back to the 64-bit as that is what the Listener requires but any ideas how to get the 32-bit sqlplus to also work?!? The Cognos application appears to use the default server settings (most likely from ORACLE_HOME and Path) and in it I just type the name of the database and connection string, there's no real way to point it anywhere to differentiate. If it doesn't find 32-bit drivers it throws an error hence the reason I need the client sqlplus, etc to work.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Windows 7 64-bit and need to install both 32bit and 64bit Oracle 11g client

    Hello
First I am sorry for asking what is probably a common knowledge answer from most in the forum. I just cannot find a straight forward answer searching these forums or via google.
We have Windows 7 64-bit planned as our next desktop upgrade. We have several Oracle databases, and all of the client software in our environment is 32 bit.
I want to try and be ahead of the curve so I want to deploy the latest 64-bit 11g client instead of our current client (10g 32bit).
The simple question is this: Can we actually do that with our 32bit application suite or do I need to install the 32bit client for 32bit applications side-by-side with the 64bit 11g Oracle client for future 64-bit clients?
For a follow up to that, if I do, then does anyone have good instructions on that? I found one article on this but it seemed custom and made use of the mklink command, so I have my doubts this is correct.
    Thanks

Thanks for the tip. What I wonder though is should I do that or does the 64-bit client have a 32-bit layer that works with 32-bit applications or, am I forced to still deploy a 32-bit client because of my 32-bit software?
    Thanks

  • Issues installing 11g client on windows 2008 R2

Hi I am a windows admin and have been asked to install oracle SQL developer and oracle 11g client on a windows 2008 R2 server.
    However it will not work.
After having issues and having to manually set environment variables and creating the folder path network\admin for the ora files, we still get the following issue
"IO Error: The network adapter could not establish the connection"
We have tried both 64 and 32bit versions.
Any help here would be very much appreciated.
    Paul.

Thanks for everyones response to this.
First issue was the server we were installing this on is not on the domain and doesnt point to our internal DNS. Hence it couldnt resolve the Host name in the tns file.
I added this to the hosts file, then we had to modify some of the registry entries and path manually.
We were then able to succesfully make a connection.
    Paul.

  • Installing oracle 10g and 11g client  on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g and 11g client on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host and have the application switch between 10g and 11g? and how would the 10g and 11g be installed?

    Thanks for your reply.
Typeically if 10g is installed in /home/roacle/product/10.2.0, are you saying that for 11g, it would be /home/oracle/product/11.0.0 ?
How about switching the application? Does changing the ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variable setting enough ? Let's say from
    ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1 to /home/oracle/product/11.0.0/client_1

  • OBIEE 11g on Linux - do I need a DB Client Installed???

I have installed an 11gR2 database on an OEL Virtual Machine, and on a separate VM installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
The RCU created the metadata required for BI - and out of the box, OBIEE works absolutely fine.
Now I'm trying to migrate a database and RPD etc from another (Windows) environment... and I'm getting errors:
"Oracle Error code: 12154, message: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at OCI call OCIServerAttach. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)."
This suggests that I need an Oracle Client installed on my OBIEE server, to enable it to connect to my DB server.
This seems odd - as RCU has created the metadata fine, and OBIEE is obviously using it? Do I really need a client now? Please could someone explain?
    Thank you!

Oracle client should be installed in the OBIEE machine, then add Oracle server information to tnsnames.ora file . Later copy the tnsnames.ora into OBIEE installed directory, for more information see the following link.

Easier than I thought. Just go back into the previous oracle client home install and the preinstalled items will be greyed out. Just add additional components you want to install.
