11G dbca missing security options

Hello,
I am looking for default 11G security settings. All documentation I've seen mentions to change this in dbca security options page. I have never seen this in my installations. I tried the database configuration and the database creation routes. I've tried as best as possible to try every permutation of selections (ASM or no, OEM or no, archivelog mode or no, etc..) and there does not seem to be any such thing as a security options page. All paths start out with each page mentioning what step of the process I am on out of 12; (Step 2/12) in the titlebar of dbca window. At step (8/12), no matter what I select or have selected beforehand, the next page is titled step (9/11). I assume the lost step is the security page. Does that happen to anyone else ?
I would like to find out what that page does in terms of roles, passwords, profiles, init params, auditing, etc..
Edit: 11.2.0.1 latest psu

Could be only available if you install Oracle software and create database in one go using Advanced Installation.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10897/install.htm#CBHFDDFE says:
>
You can choose how to configure the database created by the installer. You can select the memory size and management options, the character sets used to store data, the security options for database access, and whether the sample schemas should be installed.

Is it possible to perform network data encryption between Oracle 11g databases without the advance security option?
We are not licensed for the Oracle Advanced Security Option and I have been tasked to use Oracle Network Data Encryption in order to encryption network traffic between Oracle instances that reside on remote servers. From what I have read and my prior understanding this is not possible without ASO. Can someone confirm or disprove my research, thanks.

    Hi, Srini Chavali-Oracle
As for http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-security/advanced-security-ds-12c-1898873.pdf?ssSourceSiteId… ASO is mentioned as TDE and Redacting Sensitive Data to Display. Network encryption is excluded.
As for Network Encryption - Oracle FAQ (of course this is not Oracle official) "Since June 2013, Net Encryption is now licensed with Oracle Enterprise Edition and doesn't require Oracle Advanced Security Option." Could you clarify this? Thanks.

  • WVC54GCA Missing WPA/WPA2 security options in web interface

I just got a WVC54GCA and found out that there are some missing configuration options in the wireless settings:
    On the cameras web interface:
web interface > Basic : Wireless Settings > [ Edit Security Settings ] > Security Mode:
the dropdown gives me only two options: Disable and WEP, but no WPA, WPA2!
I upgraded to the latest firmware (1.1.00 build 02), but the problem remains.
Tried different browsers (Firefox 3.5, IE8) with the same result.
Is this a firmware bug?  A faulty device? Anyone else having the same issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try to clear the Browser settings of your IE and then try to login to the setup page of your Camera, and check if you are able to find that options.... If still unable to find WPA/WPA2 Option on your camera, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your camera, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable....
Now check if you are able to find that options... If still not then i think it might be the problem with the Camera...  I think you need to replace your Camera.

I have installed OWB 11G. under Design Center / Global Explorer / I don't see security option. How do I bring the security option. I tried to deploy a mapping and got ora-01031 insufficient error message. This could be because I don't assign any security to the user.

    Hi ,
You need to login as the repository owner to see the security option in OWB designer.
which version of OWB you are using ?

  • In Apex 4.0.1 Security Option Missing Under Manage Services

In Apex 4.0.1, I am trying to edit session timeouts and password policies. The online docs say to login as as an Administrator and navigate to:

I am unable to see the "security" option anywhere.
Does anyone know how to get to this option?

Sorry. I just realized that I was logged-in as a "developer" not as the APEX Admin which, of course, is why I couldn't find the "security" option. I had too many windows open at once.

    2) Do Oracle have any useful whitepapers on best practice patch management for EBS, i.e. how to test, steps for restore if its affects anything etc.

(I can connect directly to my Airport Extreme by ethernet and download the update that way).  Is a later version of A E software available for download anywhere?   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Download and install AirPort Utility 5.4.2 for Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger" here:

  • WiFi Security Option No Longer There in 1.0.1 Update??

Is the Security Option under the WiFi/Settings no longer there in 1.0.1 Update??
Without it there, it is no longer allowing me to get on 128BIT HEX WEP encrypted WiFi Networks.
    Thanks, Scott K.

No, it is no longer there...
But, I HAVE found a solution...
For a 128BIT HEX password, if you place a 0x before the password, it will then take.
I noticed these two characters before other 128BIT HEX passwords in the Keychain application on my MacBook, and tried it on the iPhone, and it works!!
    Thanks, Scott K.

  • Unable to secure erase: "Security Options" in Disk Utility greyed out.

Ancient eMac running Leopard. I have moved data to new Mac and am ready to erase old computer and sell/give away.
Went to "Erase" tab in Disk Utilities and both the "Volume Format" option and "Security Options" fields/buttons are greyed out and uneditable. According to instructions, to erase the data I need to select "Security Options" to proceed to erase all the data on my hard drive.
How do I "ungrey" that button? Is there a lock somewhere to unlock? Something to disable first?

You cannot erase the hard drive of the eMac when it is in use. You have to insert the Mac OS X install disk, boot up from there and then erase the disk from the Disk Utility software included.

  • Download manager and download tab missing in options box.

  • Missing PDF Options in Acrobat Pro 8

For some reason, on some machines in the office "PDF Options" is missing when we try to print to the Adobe PDF 8.0 printer under OS X 10.4.10. Both machines are Intel-based.
Two of the machines in the office have the option, two don't.
We thought it was something specific to these machines. Then yesterday, on a brand new MacBook Pro, we reinstalled a user's license from the DVD and the same thing happened: no PDF Options. This machine had been used for two days. Microsoft Office 2004 installed, Firefox and that's it - otherwise bog standard. Never had an Adobe product on it, never had Acrobat on it. Updated to 8.1.1, no change.
We've tried completely uninstalling, trashing all the Adobe and Acrobat-related items in /Library and ~/Library, same with prefs. We've searched the entire machine for any string that includes 'adobe' or 'acrobat' and trashed them, emptied the trash, restarted, then reinstalled (re-serialising in the process). We've reset the printing system and added the printers back.
We've cleaned the cache files (using AppleJack, a great little utility), repaired permissions, reinstalled the 10.4.10 Combo Updater, DiskWarriored the machine.
We're tearing our hair out, because in our office, this option is vital to the daily work flow.
Is anyone else seeing this? Anyone got a reliable fix?

I "think" that there may be a way to correct this, but it's at your own peril if it doesn't. Then again what have you got to lose? Here is something from another public forum. It's about Acrobat 6.x and 7.x but it sounds like the same issue. If you decide to try this and it works let us know.

Re: Acrobat 7 Pro: missing PDF Options menu in all applications
    Hi all,
I solved this error with Acrobat 7 by deleting the com.adobe.print.AdobePDF7 folder from the user library preferences. It may be missed by those who are deleting preferences because it is not grouped with the com.adobe.acrobat.xxx.plist files.
The equivalent folder for Acrobat 6 is called com.adobe.print.AdobePDF located in the users home library preference folder.
    I hope this helps.
    Best,
    John"
