11g install on Redhat, difference between umask 022 & 0022

For file permissions, Redhat install by default has umask set to 0022, and 11g install steps require 022. What is the difference? why 022?

The first digit sets special permissions:

  • What's the difference between AIA 3.0 and AIA FP 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)

    Hi, experts,
Have a question need your great help and clarification, you know we have Oracle AIA Foundation Pack 2.5 based on SOA 10.1.3.4 installation, the new release for SOA has been released on this version Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 (11.1.1.4.x) Released the other day, within this version, we have a Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) based on SOA11g.
    My questions are as below
    1) What's difference between AIA 3.0 and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)?
    2) We know, on the top of AIA 2.5, we have Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0) and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0), doesn't mean that the Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) has another nickname that is AIA3.0?
    3) Does anyone provide AIA 3.0 installation and implementation guide?
Appreciated if you could provide some suggestions or comments based on above question, thanks in advance!

    Please see the answers below...
#1 . AIA 3.0 is internal project name, AIA 11g R1 is an official release which is 11.1.1.2.0, then after two patch sets released they are 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.4.0
#2 hope the above answered your question.
#3 AIA 11g R1 x install and developer guides available on OTN.

    Hi all,
I would like to know what the differences between Oracle and other NoSQL database are.
When and why should we use Oracle?I suggest that you start here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/nosqldb/overview/index.html
Is Oracle NoSQL database link with Big Data Appliance?Yes, Oracle NoSQL Database will be a component of the Big Data Appliance.
Can we use map-reduce on a single personal computer? How should we install Oracle NoSQL database to use map reduce on a single personal computer?Yes, I believe you can run M/R on a single computer. Consult the various pieces of documentation available on the web. You may run Oracle NoSQL Database on the same computer that you are running M/R on, but it is likely that they will compete for CPU and IO resources and therefore performance may suffer.
Do we also have eventual consistency with Oracle NoSQL database? Yes.
Can we lose data if master node fails? If you run Oracle NoSQL Database with the default (recommended) durability settings, then if the master fails, a new one will be elected and data is not lost.
Are transactions ACID with Oracle NoSQL database? How can we prove it?Yes, each operation is executed in an ACID transaction. The API has the concept of "multi" operations which allow the caller to perform multiple operations on sets of records with the same major key, but different minor keys. Those operations are also performed within a transaction.

  • Office 2013 installed with KB2817430, windowsupdate still finds KB2850036. difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036

    Hi,
I've made a silent Office 2013 installer with /admin and put SP1 MSP's in the updates folder.
After deployment under installed updates it shows: Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2817430) 32-Bit Edition
But when I check for new updates, "ServicePack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition" is ready for download and install.
What is the difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036?
It seems that I cannot download KB2850036 and also integrate it in the silent installation.
Another question: Is the updates folder from Office only for servicepacks? or can I put also updates and patches MSP files in here? If yes then i've got a lot of files with the same name and different files sizes. For example After extracting SP1 I've got
the file "proofsp-en-us.msp" which is 10MB and when extracting another patch also i've got a proof-en-us.msp and is 8MB.
So which one need to go in the updates folder?
    Can anyone help me out?
    thanks

    Hi,
As can be seen from below KB articles, KB2817430 only contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2013, whereas KB2850036 also contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) updates for other Office 2013 related desktop products. For example, Microsoft Office 2013
Language Pack, Project 2013, SharePoint Designer 2013, Office Proofing Tools 2013, etc.:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2850036
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2817430
So if you have any of these products on your computer, Windows Update might offer related updates to you.
Regarding the Updates folder issue, you can put any Office software updates in it during the initial installation, such as service packs or hotfixes. A newer patch might make changes to a specific file, you can check the version number of that file, and keep
the newer one in the folder.
Here is the reference you will need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/05/05/using-the-updates-folder-to-deploy-software-updates-with-an-office-2010-installation.aspx
(Note, it was created against Office 2010, however the steps should hold good for Office 2013)

  • Whats the difference between a German Tiger install DVD and a English one ?

    Title says it all really.
Apples online store gives an option of German or international English Tiger (Intel). If I get a German DVD (the local language) can I install in English or not?
Delivery time tot the international English goes up from 24hrs to 5 days
    TIA.

You can install English language files for Tiger from the German Tiger installation DVD. The difference between the packages is likely the fact that the documentation which comes with the package is in a different language; you will get German documentation with the German package, and English documentation with the English package.

  • Important differences between oracle 10g and 11g

Hi friends, can anyone tell me (pointwise) what are the major (and minor) differences between Oracle 10g and 11g.
Please point me to some documents if possible.
    Thanks in advance

The name of the link says it all: "top_features."
In short it is Oracle's list of what they have for marketing and sales reasons designated "top features."
It is not intended to be, and is not, a complete list of features. Often the features Oracle does not
talk about are the most important.
Let me give you some examples. I have never seen Oracle announce DBMS_XPLAN as a new feature
yet you should not run an explain plan without it. Neither have I ever seen Oracle announce the new
NO_DATA_NEEDED predefined exception. I have listed literally hundreds of new features you will not
find in Oracle's new features docs.
I did a presentation at OpenWorld this year as part of the unconference titled "New Features in
Database 11gR2 that Oracle will not announce." It was easy to prepare a one hour presentation with
little fear of being proved incorrect. As I turned out only one of the features I presented was mentioned
    by Oracle.
You can find the presentation slides here:

One is for the base version of the Mac OS, the other is for the Server version. You can only install the one that matches your system.

  • I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for?

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
    Good luck!

  • Difference Between OBIEE 10g and OBIEE 11g

    Hi everyone,
I have a doubt when choosing two versions of OBIEE, 10g and 11g.
Actually, is there any big difference between 10g and 11 version ?
From the point of view of easiness finding tutorial in internet, simplicity of using the tool, and other considerations, which one is better ?
I hope you guys could also explain with your arguments.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Few differences..

New features in OBIEE11g...Re: OBIEE 11g
    http://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/2010/07/new_administration_features_of.html
I have a doubt when choosing two versions of OBIEE, 10g and 11g.If you are new to OBIEE its best to start with 10g,there are lot changes in 11g.It takes time to get used to it and you many not get enough docs or material to read, may face some new issues also.
Actually, is there any big difference between 10g and 11 version ? Yes there are some differences between them...you can see them in above links.(many things like graphs, server)
From the point of view of easiness finding tutorial in internet, simplicity of using the tool, and other considerations, which one is better ?For sure obiee 10g as 11g is new many of them just started using it,so you may get less help on this if you face issues & may not get enough tutorial in internet and OBIEE10g is bit easy to use.
Its best to you go for OBIEE10g,parallely you can try 11g.

  • Differences between 10g and 11g

    Greetings to all,
I am a student who was directed to this site to download Oracle 11g express edition release 2 and Oracle SQL developer 3.1 for class. However, I found only the 10g express edition to be compatible with my OS. I was told I could probably use this but was warned that my certification test would be in 11g. May I get some experienced opinions on if this would be a wise choice? What are the primary differences between the two?
    Thanks in advance.

May I get some experienced opinions on if this would be a wise choice? It depends on the scope of the certification test. For basic SQL certification, either is probably OK. For a DBA certification that covers features only available in Standard or Enterprise Edition, or features added in 11g, you need the appropriate version.
What are the primary differences between the two? 10g XE vs 11g XE differences:
