11g OBIEE install, Administrator details

I am trying to install 11g OBIEE on a Windows 7-64-bit machine. When it gets to the "Administrator details" no matter what password I type(including numbers, special chars), it puts red "X" against Administrator details and doesn't let me go further. Any ideas please?
I've seen another posting else where about the same issue from another user, no solution though.
Thanks.

If you attempt to install on a Windows machine that is using DHCP, does not have a primary DNS suffix, and does not have a loopback adapter configured, then the Oracle BI installer will stop at the screen prompting for the Administrator user details. This appears as a red cross in the tree on the left hand side of the installer. This issue is caused by the installer not being able to resolve the IP address to a hostname.
The workaround is to configure a loopback adapter or primary DNS suffix.
The preferred installation method is to not use the loopback adapter at all. Perform the installation completely disconnected from wired/wireless netwoks (no IP address at all). Set localhost in the hosts file. The installer will fail since the OBI cluster controller cannot start due to binding to localhost but who cares...your workstation is not clustered anyway (verify this via opmn status). Continue anyway. The launch WLS console and bind the admin server and the managed server to localhost. Then just like magic....OBIEE should work not connected to a network, connected to home network, connected to work network, connected to wireless network and connected to VPN.

  • Should OBIEE 11g be installed on a machine having  weblogic already installed?

    Hi Experts,
We have weblogic server already installed on one of the machines( It got installed when Hyperion was installed)
Can OBIEE 11g be installed on the same machine with its own weblogic server?
    Thanks
    Ashish

So If I install OBIEE with software only install and then configure it with Configuration assistant, Would I be able to see the same stuff  in console and the enterprise manager, which I would normally see if had installed OBIEE with its own weblogic?
Also, what would be the console link in that case?  for OBIEE with its own weblogic .. link is  http://servername.com:7001/console/login/LoginForm.jsp
And looks like I will always have to coordinate with the Hyperion team as in like restarting of the server and other tasks like config changes.
Or can you tell me the pros and cons of having a single weblogic server.. cause we have different team for hyperion.
    Thanks

  • Cannot find dashboard and reports after upgrading rdp from 10g to 11g OBIEE

    Hi all
I am trying to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g. These two products are installed on different servers. I have followed the guide: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-jul/o41bi-402913.html and everything seems to work fine.
So i have taken a copy of rdp from the server where was installed OBIEE 10g and took it in the server where OBIEE 11g is installed.
Ran the upgrade tool and upgrade finished successfully. Restarted the BI Servers in core application on Enterprise Manager.
Now when i access the upgraded rpd, the layers and the fields are fine but I cannot find all the reports and dashboards that i had created.
Am I missing any upgrade steps?
    Please suggest
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi Deepak,
    Thanks for your response.
Oracle also came back to me and looks like my method is not valid:
    Hi Jim,
Thanks a lot for the information. First of all I would like to inform you that upgrade CANNOT be performed across two machine. So, if 10g installation is on Host A, then upgrade to 11g will be on Host A.
So, in your scenario this is what you can do:
    1. On Host A running Forms/Discoverer 10g on Windows 2003, install Forms/Discoverer/Reports 11g (11.1.1.6.0)
    2. Run the upgrade Assistant to perform the upgrade from 10g to 11g.
    3. Now upgrade OS of Host A to Windows 2008
In short, I would like to inform you that upgrades across machines does not work. Source instance which is 10g and destination instance which is 11g must exist on same box.
Here is the documentation which you can follow:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/upgrade.1111/e10130/toc.htm
(Oracle® Fusion Middleware Upgrade Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer)
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
Let me know if you have any further questions.
    Thanks,
    Rishi

  • OBIEE install

I like to install OBIEE on laptop which is on home network.
it is configured as home network rather than a server software with domain name.
When I installed loop back adapter which is prerequisite to OBIEE install, documentation says that I should use static ip address like 10.10.10.10 with computername.domainname.
I have been guided that change the ipaddress in HOST file.
But I can not edit host file.
I like to know what comes first like
changing computer name and workgroup on mycomputer will change the HOST file or I actually have to edit host file.
editing HOSTS file is not straight forward and many suggest not to edit it.
I like to have an expert advice
    thank you

  • Is it possible to have 64-bit 11g Full Install and 32-Client on 1 computer?

    Here's why I ask:
I have installed a full 64-bit 11g R2 install on my Windows 7 D: drive, installed two DB's, worked great. Then I realized application I need to support (Cognos 10.1) requires 32-bit client (for drivers) so I installed the 11g client also on D: drive as well (for space reasons).
My problem is that my registry only shows one ORACLE_HOME--the 64-bit full install whereas Cognos reqs to point to 32-bit client.
My sqlplus in the 64-bit OH worked fine (D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) whereas the 32-bit client sqlplus (D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\sqlplus.exe) did not work. The error was:
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Mon Sep 26 18:02:30 2011
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Enter user-name: cognos
    Enter password:
    ERROR:
    ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Any login id (sys, system, etc) gave same error. 64-bit sql-plus worked fine. If I opened a cmd prompt and navigated to the 32-bit sqlplus under the client this WOULD work to login (but then I noticed it was using the 64-bit ORACLE_HOME and PATH settings if I typed set). In order to fix Cognos, I changed my ORACLE_HOME and path to point to the 32-bit client (i.e. from D:\oracle\app\dock\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 to
    ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1
    PATH = D:\oracle\client\app\dock\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\;C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Bluetooth Software\syswow64;C:\Program Files\Intel\WiFi\bin\;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\WirelessCommon\
Guess what? This stopped both the 64-bit and 32-bit sqlplus from working, even after bouncing the computer. Now the listener (64-bit) OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener will also not start either.
Sooooo, I think I need to set the OH and PATH back to the 64-bit as that is what the Listener requires but any ideas how to get the 32-bit sqlplus to also work?!? The Cognos application appears to use the default server settings (most likely from ORACLE_HOME and Path) and in it I just type the name of the database and connection string, there's no real way to point it anywhere to differentiate. If it doesn't find 32-bit drivers it throws an error hence the reason I need the client sqlplus, etc to work.
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi zelgay,
    This is my result:
From your error code, it seems this is relate to your windows update, please use following command to fix corrupted files:
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
In the meantime, you can delete temporary update files in the SoftwareDistribution folder:
    Stop Windows Update service.
    Open File Explorer.
Double-click the local hard disk where Windows is installed, typically drive C.
Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click the
    SoftwareDistribution folder.
Double-click the DataStore folder to open it, and then delete all files and folders in the folder.
Note If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click the Back button. In the SoftwareDistribution folder, double-click the
Download folder to open it, and then delete all files in the folder.

  • Seeking confirmation - SQL Dev now in 11g RDBMS install

    Hi gang
Can somebody confirm the following for me please? I'd confirm this for myself but it requires me to download the 11g RDBMS tarball for Linux -- which could take me weeks on my current internet connection.
Is it correct that SQL Developer is now included in the 11g RDBMS install?
Is it the intention SQL Developer will be included in every edition of the RDBMS (eg. Standard, Enterprise and XE etc)?
Will SQL Developer be included for every RDBMS platform (eg. Linux, Windows etc)?
...and am I correct in saying that SQL Developer was not included in any earlier RDBMS release (eg. 10g)?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    CM.

That's great, except you say that 1.2 is included by default. It's 1.1.3 that's included. (i.e. just a release earlier.
Yes, the SQL Developer team will be at OOW in San Francisco. We have 2 papers and a hands-on session. I'm really pleased about the hands-on session. Even though it's only an hour long, we are offering users a choice or tasks to work on, so hoping to give everyone an chance to get their hands onto the product, from beginners doing an overview to those wanting to get into more on the PL/SQL debugging to those wanting build XML extensions.
We'll also have a demo stand where we're planning to show off some new stuff and of course meet all the forum readers and contributors.
    See you there.

  • Webcenter Site 11g : Cluster Install : logout issue facing.

    Hi Friends ,
We have installed the Webcenter site 11g Cluster install on Weblogic server successfully. We have faced any issues while installation. After successful installtion , When we login to sample sites( going here & then) and click on the LOGOUT button on the page , its not logging out , again it is landing with same page where we clicked LOGOUT button.
We shutdown one cluster server (NODE1) , and NODE2 was up and running , now logout issue is not persisting and same NODE2 was down and NODE1 was up , now also no issue. BUT , if we start accessing sites from LBR url , this logout issue facing. There is no Error in sites..log & cas.log.
:-( we have created the ORacle SR , but still we have not received any soln.
Please help us , what could be the issue here.
    Naveen

It's possible this is due to the cas url not being set correctly. In SSOConfig.xml you have two places to set this
casUrl - needs to be set to the external address for cas, this link will be included in pages visible to the end user (eg via webserver or loadbalancer).
casInternalUrl - needs to be set to an internal address for cas, Sites/CS will call this directly (should not go through webserver/loadbalancer)
If these are correct, then try to rule out whether the webserver/loadbalancer is an issue
    - is it session sticky?
    - if you set casUrl / casInternalUrl to point direct to cas can you login/logout direct to CS without the loadbalancer?

    Hi,
The error which was mentioned "The database you are connecting is with non-AL32UTF8 Character set. oracle strongly recommends using of AL32UTF8 as database character set." can be ignored.
"Error : Repository creation check failed." came because while creating the RCU, u must provide the sys user and password as it would created the required "BIPLATFORM"and "BIDEV" users. The error came because u did not use the sys user ....

    Hi Pedro,
Does your VM have a static IP? I feel like I read somewhere that the install could freeze on that step if you don't have a static IP/loopback adaptor.
I've got a thread over OBIEE 11g Cluster Controller Failed to start with a checklist of the pre-install steps you be aware of before doing an OBIEE 11g install.
Good luck and let me know if this helps!

Make sure all the BI services are up and running before deploying the RPD in the Enterprise manager. You can check to see if all the services are running by going to the system maintainance tab in Enterprise manager under Business Intelligence Domain. After making sure all the services are up and running, try to upload the RPD again, and make sure the RPD is not corrupted.
