11g ocp hands on course

Hi
I want to become 11g ocp.
I know that I have to take one hands on course to achieve this.
I am not new to oracle thefore I am not interested in subjects in 11g workshop1 and 11g workshop2.
I am just wondering, if I can take "11g R2 New Features for Administrator" course as a hands on course?

The fact that the course is now 11gR2 based rather than just '11g' (R1) is not relevant in your context. (I dont have an athorative reference on that but essentailly 11gR2 based courses are replacing 11gR1 based ones not supplementing them)

    Oracle Certification/Support Team!
I have submitted Hands on Course Form thru Pearson VUE Login Credentials, as a result I got the message from [email protected] to provide Course Certificate "Needs Your Attention" for the applied OCP-DBA Certification on Oracle 11g.
Hence, I sent the scanned copy of the Course Attendance Certificate to [email protected], as a result I got immediate system generated response from Oracle "Please Allow 5 Days For A Response"  But, after 12 days (9 working days) I am unable to get the response from Oracle.
What is wrong in this process, I sent an email reminder TODAY (Sept. 18, 2013) and submitted a Service Request using CertView Login Credentials and YET TO GET A RESPONSE. Anybody from Oracle Certification Support Team can resolve this issue, please?
I will appreciate the response from OCP Support Team!
this is not the "OCP Support Team".   This is simply a forum platform provided by Oracle for the use of their user base to be able to support each other without unduly clogging the official support channel.  There are very few people here who are oracle employees, and those that are are un-identified as such and are NOT here in their official capacity as Oracle employees.

  • Can 10g course be used for 11g ocp hands on requirement?

    Hi,
I recently cleared 1z0-051 and 1z0-052 and awaiting OCA certificate.
Can any one please assist and guide me on how to proceed to 1z0-053 as Oracle University in my area is not offering any 11g course yet; they are still offering 10g courses?
I do not see any 10g course on list of courses for 11g hands on:

    Hi,

    Congratulations.

    Thats unfortunate ...
Can I confirm you have checked ...
and checked your country and selected course schedule. I dont know what your country is but i see both India and Saudi Arabia are offering 11g courses.
You could try contacting your local Oracle university by phone, other options might be a Live Virtual Class instructor led course which i believe still satifies the requirement, or attending a course out of country / area.
I do not see any 10g course on list of courses for 11g hands on:

    Agreed.
My question is, should i invest on 10g hand on to pursue 11g ocp?
In my opinion probably not. But I dont know your exact situation.
One option would be to sit 1z0-042 .. ( i think the topics are 80% common with 1z0-052) , so if your head is currently filled with 1z0-052 then its possilby not too difficult to adject to 1z0-042 ... checkout the topics. You could then take 1z0-043 , take 10g training to get your 10g OCP, then take 1z0-050 to get your 11g OCP. Thats a long way round and a lot of exams to get to 11g OCP from where your are, and if you've not much experience of earlier versions of Oracle you might want to stick with 11g so you dont get confused between slight differences between the two.
Another thing to note is that the 1z1-053/1z0-053 has today 30-jun-2009 finished beta ... so it will not now be possilble to take 1z0-053 until the production exam is released which should be sometime in september, and you may want to plan round that.
If you really cant see any 11g courses , and have contacted your local Oracle University, then you could go to [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and look up the FAQ's under support and if your're really stuck then use support/contact-us.
    thanks and kind regards,

Edited by: raoofdba on Apr 28, 2010 11:02 PMSome things you say here dont make sense.
In general often things to do with a workforce development program institute can seem to get into a difficult areas.
As far as I can tell the WDP programme cirriculum is published here: https://workforce.oracle.com/wdp_curr.html (accessed from UK).
(The last updated date of last updated February, 2007 and copyright of date 2002, i may have my doubts about, i can't recall finding this page previously, however having found it i welcome it. The instructional hours are up to 12 hours per week now ... used to be less ... i would think there is a risk of this is a web updated in late 2009/2010 with some detail inaccuracies ).
Now I see no mention of a +"WDP Oracle Database 10g : Performance Tuning"+ course on that page.
The nature of the voucher I cannot myself authoratively confirm. WDP Institiutes get one official voucher per student attending a course: see: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=156
    If it is a voucher as described on that link (Which is certifcation home page ... Getting started ... Exam Vouchers) then it is usable for any exam in the price bracket (The page may have a bug .. {thread:id=1065162} }
Being a cynic, and I may be completely wrong on this, I suspect some institutes end up with a surplus of such vouchers through candidates abandoning courses and can trade them down Peckham market in ways not intended.
To sumarise I think there is a good chance the WDP Institute is offering you the 'Oracle Database 10g: Administration Workshop II' course not a "WDP Oracle Database 10g : Performance Tuning" course unless in institute is both a OAEC and a WDP Institute.
There is a possibility they may be offering you vouchers outside of the general scheme.
Any issues/disputes with vouchers/course delivering/course eligibility for certification hands on purposes is between you and the institute.

  • Oracle OCP Hands on course discount for OPN member ?

    Hi guys,
I work for a company in Australia that is a Oracle Advantage Partner (highest level).
I have completed the OCA but I understand the OCP requires a instructor led training courses. Seems like the price of these courses is $3000-$5000 AUD.
Is there any discount for a certified Oracle Advantage Partner company ?
    Thanks

For sure in courses there will be no discounts for oracle advantage partner companies that too for an individual attending the training in public batch. But if you company want to arrange a private training through Oracle University then they may give discount but your company should arrange minimum 6 candidates to attend the training.
But you can get benifited with one new features...If you attend any Oracle 10g DBA Workshop I or Oracle 10g DBA Workshop II training through oracle university then they are providing a free exam voucher for the exam. So maximum that you can save is the exam money. For more details on discount vouchers check education.oracle.com

  • Oracle 9i Hands-On Course Requirement

    Hello all,
I have finished all 4 exams for Oracle 91 OCP DBA certification and I need to take the Oracle 9i Hands-On Course Requirement. From what I understand from oracle website you have to attend a class from a list of approved courses at oracle university or oracle authorized center or an oracle partner and then
    1) the institute where you attended the course sends information about your attendance to Oracle. And oracle in turn verifies attendance.
    2) How long does it take for Oracle to verify that I attended that course if not taken at OU and
    3) How long does it take for Oracle to send me the final OCP certificate?
    4) Oracle website also mentions that a candidate needs to submit a form online and take a test at the prometric website.
    5) Is there a cost effective way of taking this course?
I am trying to locate centers in US within New York City that offer the Oracle OCP Hands-On Course Requirement for Oracle 9i certification OCP DBA. I am specifically looking for an Oracle authorized center or partner in NY (as a cheaper option). I have been looking for hours on the oracle website and I am unable to find any specific information. I can only see oracle university locations or oracle partners who do not provide training
for individuals. At this point I am quite frustrated and I would really appreciate any help.
I want to quickly take the course and get my OCP certificate. Since I am planning to visit India, I thought of taking the course there as it would be lot cheaper ($200 Vs $750 for an online course in US). I talked to an institute in India and they tell me that I need to enroll for a course and then on completion they willvsend oracle all my details. There are no exams for the course. It will take a month for them to receive the certificate for the course and then I can apply for the OCP certificate to Oracle. (So are we talking about 2 months here for the certificate?)
However when I spoke to a customer care rep at oracle uni, they gave me a complete different picture. They tell me that I need to enroll in a class which might be a max of 5 days and then I can get my OCP certificate within a week. I also need to give an exam for the course
    that I take.
I am confused and I am unable to find any oracle authorized centers or partners in US in New York so I can call and confirm. If you have any information regarding this with the correct sequence, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Purvi.

    Hello Neil and 355099,
Both your links are helpful and i was able to find the centers. I had earlier looked at the courses and schedules and assumed that the same offered by and Oracle partner or authorized center might be less money. Anyways in case some one wants to take the course outside US here's the link - http://www.oracle.com/education/partners/partners.html#5
    Thanks again,

  • Help..Oracle could not trace my WDP hands on course for OCP 10g

    Dear All,
Can somebody on Oracle (OTN team) could help me to validate & check my WDP hands on course as below detail :
    Class Name :
ORACLE DATABASE 10G: ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP II RELEASE 2 - WDP (D17092GC31S)
    Location : CV Informit Indonesia
    Student Id : 62156
    Student Name : Zulfirman
    Schedule : 25 March 2011 - 10 April 2011
    (10 sessions @ 3 Hours)
I have put above information on VUE, but then come up an email response from oracle asking my hardcopy certificate course.
I have contacted the INFORMIT, they said it takes 2 up to 3 month to get the certification from OU indonesia.
Since it take long time to get the training certification, I come back emailing the oracle to ask for speed up, then they said they need to check further about my training detail.
FInally they come up with an email that asking me to ask INFORMIT to email the oracle confirming that i have already completed that course.
Worstly, i have not in that city anymore where the INFORMIT located, but i drop informit an email just now to forward oracle request to them.
    Question :
    1. Can someone help me to validate my training instead of waiting oracle with the emailing back - forward ?
2.Why ORacle unable to trace my detail WDP class above ? Is it because of a cheap WDP training so they dont provide a connected server between WDP training provider & OU or Oracle headquarter ?
    3. The Hardcopy certification for WDP student take too long. What is the std lead time for WDP student to have thier training certifiaction ?
    Thank You,
    Zulfirman,PMP,OCA

    Hi Brandye Barrington,
    No,
they didnt provide me an exam voucer. For your info, i have already passed all the exam required for OCP track.Which is an indicator of something not right. Mabe not your fault. Maybe the Institution. Maybe WDP.
My goal to get this training is to refresh me about the topic & to claim my OCP status.
you can check my exam history using my ORacle Testing ID (or Oracle Certification Program ID): XXXXXXXXXXWell you've just 3.2 (iv) No Misconduction of the http://education.oracle.com/education/pdf/ocp_candidate_agreement_V0810.pdf of the agreement you make before taking this exam by disclosiing your Oracle Testing Id to another person ... aka the whole internet!
    >
    For your info,
I hve just got confirmation from my WDP training centre (Informit). They have emailed "[email protected]" to confirm that i have officialy registered with WDP training centre by showing to them (them = oracle) the screen shot or print screen of regsitration form from WDP website, where my name alrady been registered inside the WDP system.
Ho Ho Ho !! The WDP training center are well enoughton the ball to know that email address have been withdrawn. ( http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2011/03/email_alias_ocpexam_wworacleco.html ).
Perhaps that document does show a registration number.
Now i can only wait, wheter oracle still could not accpet that email from INFORMIT as a proof or i have to wait for my certification hardcopy (take 2 or 3 months ahead)
Emails can be faked. And I am reasonably certain a percentage of WDP Training centers would not apply the rules properly if they could get away with it.
If i still have to wait for the scan hardcopy certification, then for sure, i really upset with ORACLE, due they could not manage best communication & sychronization database between ORACLE - WDP TRanining Centre, & me as a unlucky candidate due to their bad communication on both system.
IMHO I can see from this and other threads that WDP or the training centers fail to publish clear and precise information of what is involved so the students can authoratively check on an oracle website. IMHO The WDP Traiing centers have a degree of control which they can use to mislead students.
And I assume you have access to the following :: https://workforce.oracle.com/pdf/html_rd/wdp_stu_reg.html?wdp0 ... and if not why not ? ( I dont .. i am not WDP).
If ORACLE is a great database company, then they must already predict such issue in early as possible instead of waiting such complaint raised in.
Oracle is Great. Larry is Great. Any Oracle RDBMS version with a zero in it may be a bad vintage.
But IMHO you may be right wrt WDP.
Again, Pls help me on this..
    Besr Regards,
Zulfirman,PMP,OCAWhen one does training at OU the attendance is properly recorded and there are nless real issues with attendance not being recorded.
With WDP institutions as far as I can tell this is not perhaps as well auditted and there is perhaps room for shenanigans; faked attendance, etc.
As far as i know when WDP was started (oracle 9i) the students used to have to attend the whole track of a specially constructed coiurse to get the credi ( I used to call it a never mind the quality feel the width training). And the training was spread to ensure the pupil had time to absorb the training. And it might be taught by non Oracle Professionals. WDP can however now be used for a single session set of part of track being sufficient for the training requirement (This may be simply a never mind the quality appreciatethe cheapness approach).
This may all seem off topic for you.
However please realise Oracle Certification (whcih operates independently of WDP who do there own thing) need to establish training has been properaly attended. And if there is a loophole many WDP candidates wll rush towards it.
This however does give me a chance to kick Oracle to ensure WDP has its house in order.

  • Differences between 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053 and 11g OCP

    Hi All
    I have a small dilemma
For Christmas I was given a copy of OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam Guide with CD-ROM: Exams 1Z0-051, 1Z0-052, 1Z0-053 (Osborne Oracle Press Series) [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Database-All-Guide-CD-ROM/dp/0071629181/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262090730&sr=1-5|http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oracle-Database-All-Guide-CD-ROM/dp/0071629181/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262090730&sr=1-5]
As you will see in the book title it covers 1Z0-051, 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053
About a year ago I attended the following courses
    TT - Oracle D/B 10g Program PL/SQL-QA-IQ
    TT - Oracle PL/SQL - GK
TT - Oracle 10g Intro to SQL
I have been meaning to get round to taking my exams and OCA qualification is no problem as I can take 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 using the above book and the knowledge I gained on the course (even though the course was 10g).
But my question surrounds 11g OCP and how it requires instructor led training - now I have done my 10g course but I guess this wont count as an instructor led course for 11g OCP.
If not then im going to need to take the route of 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 to get OCP and 1Z0-050 to upgrade to 11g
So I would ask how safe I would be learning the above mentioned book and taking the 1Z0-042, 1Z0-043 exams. I understand there is no accurate answer as it is subjective but if 1Z0-052 and 1Z0-053 (11g) knowledge covers 1Z0-042 and 1Z0-043 (10g) knowledge then there should be no problem, right?
I really dont want to have to take the book back or purchase another.
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

    user3554032 wrote:

For Christmas I was given .... (Take me to your santa ...)
    .... (snipped)
    Thanks in advance
RobYour'e thinking sensibly about this. Well done. And the hands on course needs to be considered carefully and I often say this can be deciding factor in planning.
IMHO there is at least 80% commonality between the topics for 1z0-042 AND 1Z0-052 .... and probably similar for 1z0-043 and 1z0-053 whoug I've never directly checked this and there may be a greater divergence there.
Be aware some topics in 1z0-050 will not be covered in the books you have as far as I am aware.
One option you have not considered is taking exams in this order ..... this will give you 10g OCP and 11g OCP. This is wha I did .... but it mainly occured that for me way as the 1z0-053 was fairly delayed into production and I wanted the certificates I could have as soon as possilble .... ie 10gDBAOCP and 11gDBAOCA. I actually did the 1z1-053 beta for my 11g DBA OCP ... cheaper than 1z0-050 as I already had 11g DBA OCA.
    1z0-051 1z0-042 1z0-052 1z0-043 1z0-053.
I know you dont want to buy another book, but the 10g ones from Sybex (and associated CDROM's) give a slightly different viewpoint (though they are for 10gR1 and are not updated for 10gR2 topics). IMHO the sybex books can ometimes go a little over the top in some areas. But all these books can contain some errors ... however they do provide an extra set of practice questions. However it is an option for you.
Its worth registering your 10g course as a hands on course as soon as reasonably possible to ensure there are no issues with it (I assume you have attended the course from Oracle University).
Anyway these are my thoughts. But you know your own circumstances and are responsible for your own decisions. Good Luck.

If I have completed 10g Administration I and II. Can I take the 10g RAC course to fulfill the hands on course requirement? even though the prerequisites for this course are:
10g New Features for Administrators and
10g Administration Workshop 1 Release 2If you have passed 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 then my understanding is the 10g or even the 11g will fulfull the course requirement. (1 did 1z0-042+1z0-043+11gRAC to get my 10g OCP).
The training course prerequisites indicate the level of experience the candidate should have to appreciate the training course. If yu've passed those exams and are a experienced DBA then you should have no problems (though you'll have to get your head arround RAC sequences and learn to think RAC on the course and you'll know the difference between a database and an instance for sure ;-) )
(I think its good that the range of handes on courses for DBA admin OCP allows the candidate to choose either to pick a course that helps them prepare for the exam or to pick a topic that extends their knowledge if they understand the core exam topics well (and/or have passed the exam)).
You've probably found this already, but authorative information is here : [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#3]

  • 9i oca to 11g ocp

    Hi
1-) What is the correct path to upgrade 9i OCA to 11g OCP?
2-) Is it compulsary to take lessons, or is it enough to pass the exams?
    Many thanks

    Thanks for your help Kamran;
In order to upgrade 9i ocp from 9i oca, Is it compulsary to take a course?
    or
Can I upgrade it by passing the exam without taking a course? The term 'upgrade' is this context is really to upgrade from DBA OCP/OCM at one oracle version to another. For instance from 9i OCP DBA to 11g DBA OCP.
The first time you wish to achieve a DBA OCP certiifcation at some level you will need to, as part of the requirement, submit a hands-on course and get verified that you have attended a course suitable for that certification.
This list is different for 9i DBA OCP , 10g DBA OCP and 11g DBA OCP. (To upgrade from 9i DBA OCP to 10/11g DBA then you dont need a course).
You can choose to believe me or not, or attempt to see if you can wriggle round it, but don't cry if you find yourself not receiving a certification even though you've passed the exams.
    - The choice of courses are quite wide, so those you are already sufficently familiar with the exam topics can choose a course that will cover useful topics that are new to them.
