11g on windows , Oracle Home problem

while installing 11g on windows it asked for oracle home i make and gave the direcotry name like
C:\fs01\app\oracle\product\11.1.0.6\db_1
at the end of installation i noticed it added one product dir by itself and installed
every thing on
C:\fs01\app\oracle\product\product\11.1.0.6\db_1
what's the solution now to fix this ?

This could be avoided during installation
I assume that you have the Oracle 10g under product\10.2.0..something like this..
When it prompts the directory during installation you would have select oracle\product as oracle home...I had this a few minutes back...
But just found at the start of the Installation itself ..when is selected the \oracle\product ,it added another product folder under the selected folder which will be \oracle\product\product..
Thats the thing

Do you have any specific issues with your installation? I don't see why you shouldn't be able to install Oracle 11g on Windows 7. Found a quick blog post for you:

  • OBIEE 11g On Windows 7 home-  62-Bit

    Hi,
    I'm planning to install 11G on Windows 7 home - 62 Bit.
Is RCU available for 62 - Bit.
Please help me in installing with steps & Pre-requisities.
Thanks for the help in advance.

BI Administrator WILL NOT RUN in Win7-64 OS. We went round and round with Oracle on this because we wanted to do the same thing. Also, Oracle will not support installing it as a 32-bit app in a 64-bit OS. Microsoft claims that any 32-bit app can be installed in Win7-64 using their emulation mode, however we could not make that work either, but without Oracle support we decided to skip it. We could not understand why Oracle would include a 32-bit app in a 64-bit download package when the doc says clearly it must run only in Windows and only in 32-bits.
Curriously, however, it DOES run in Windows 2008 Server 64 bits. Go figure.

Can any one let me know whether windows 7 home premium supports oracle 11g 32bit version?

    Welcome to the forums !
No - Home versions of Win are not supported for any Oracle installs. One option you have is to create a Linux VM on your Win 7 machine and then install 11gR2 in the Linux VM - pl see my blog (linked in my profile) for detailed steps

  • How to set Oracle 11g as Primary Oracle Home

    Hi All,
I've Windows 7 operating system & have Oracle 11g client ( enterprise edition), Oracle 10g XE and Oracle Developer Suite 10g. I want to know how can I set Oracle_11g_home as my primary oracle home.
Note: Currently, the home of Oracle Developer Suite 10g is my primary home as it gets invoked whenever I type sqlplus in the command prompt or tnsping my remote database from command prompt.
    Regards,
    MK

You have two options. Either edit your %PATH% environment variable and place the Path related to your 11g home first. Another option is to add an ORACLE_HOME environment variable that points to your 11g home.
    Hope this helps!

  • 64-bit database and 32-bit companion on same host oracle home problem

    Hi.
We have following situation in production.
Installed database version is 10.02.04. 64-bit,host Windows 2008 x64, now we are trying to install 32-bit companion cd and this time we are trying not to loose/kill our 64-bit oracle home inventory.
Last time 32-bit version was installed our 64-bit home vanished and attachHome script always returned error, it seems to me that 32-bit and 64-bit versions overwrite installation info to each other, only last install is visible.
When I run setup for 32-bit companion I don't see anything in installed products(it's not listing 64-bit oracle homes). We had a lot of problems with this, patch failing, no way to install anything anymore for 64-bit version...
So is it possible to install 32 and 64 bit homes on same host, can they coexist, and keep both homes(OUI homes info), are there any special steps or something?

Well I looked at Inventory.xml file, after 32-bit version was installed entry for 64-bit install was gone.
Although I can not confirm that 100 percent because 32-bit installation was not done by me, maybe other guy who did it manually delete it as I did with 32-bit version to return my 64-bit inventory.
So my options are to backup 64-bit inventory, install 32-bit companion my 64-bit inventory will be overwritten, backup 32-bit, delete 32-bit, restore 64-bit inventory and I'll have active 64-bit inventory. Now I have inventory for 64-bit and I can restore 32-bit or 64-bit inventory when I need it.
This woks by is there another way...somebody...

  • Multiple oracle homes problem

    Hi!
I have multiple oracle homes on my machine: Oracle9DB, DevsuiteHome_1 and now as I have just installed Oracle Discoverer 10g....BIToolsHome_1.
The problem is ever since I installed Discoverer, nothing is working......
    Can anyone help?
    Best regards,
    Aparna

    Dear Rod,
What I mean by nothing is working is I cannot connect to the dataases. I get 'No listener' error message.
Oracle Hone selector gives the following message:
The is only one Oracle Home defined on this machine and so this tool cannot be used to change your primary Oracle home.
I tried to start the listener service, however, it says:
Listener service started and then stopped.
Is there any solution to this problem?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Aparna

  • Oracle 11g client installation on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

I'm having trouble installing the Oracle 11g client installation on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) machine.
Can Oracle 11g client even be installed on the Windows 7 Home Premium 64?

As mention here home OS not supported, so as mention here again if you make some googling you can find link&blog which is mention to create WM machine, install linux(you can use OEL linux which is free and can be download from e-delivery site) than you can make 11g installation on it

Your early help will be highly appreciated.
    thanks and regards
    Hassan

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.
