11g R2 Companion CD

Hi,
I am trying to down Companion from E delivery i could'nt find it.
I found it in metalink patch 10098816 as per http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2010/11/db_11gr2_11202_ebs.html.
Could any one please tell me out of these 7 parts which one is companion, if any one has already downloaded.
In 10g it was Disk3 of 6. Is it same in 11g. [I dont want to download all of them.]
Thanks,
Taher

  • Upgrading Oracle RAC from 10.0.2.3 to 10.0.2.4 on HP-UX

    Hi all,
I have to apply 10.0.2.4 patch to Oracle RAC that running on HP-UX system. I'm inexperienced with this subject. What is your suggestions and recommendations about this? Can you share the your own roadmap and your experience?
    Regards,
    Alper.

    Hi Alper,
a good starting point for upgrades are the Oracle Upgrade Companions for 10gR2 and 11g - they cover best practices and behaviour changes:
    Note.466181.1- 10g Upgrade Companion
    Note.601807.1 - Oracle 11g Upgrade Companion

  • Dataguard upgrade

    system: solaris 10
    Oracle: 9207
physical data guard using broker is running on oracle 9207, want to upgrade oracle 9i to 11g what will be steps to upgrade? how standby site will upgrade?

I would suggest looking at Metalink not 601807.1, the 11g Upgrade Companion. This gives a good overview of the upgrade steps required, as well as informing you of expected behavior changes, other useful documents about specific environments (e.g. RAC), and so on. For example, you'll find specific information relevant to your scenario such as a link to the chapter in the Data Guard concepts manual that talks about upgrading using SQL Apply:

  • Separate Media -vs- Companion CD - Oracle HTTP Server for 11g

I am finally upgrading to Oracle 11g. We have been using HTML-DB for a couple of years. In the Oracle Database Installation Guide 11g it says "Starting with Oracle Database 11g, Oracle HTTP Server is available on a separate media shipped with Oracle Database. In previous releases, this product was available as a Companion CD component."
What's the difference between "separate media shipped with Oracle Database" and a "Companion CD"? Wouldn't something that is shipped with something else be a companion?
    Cheers,
    Gregory

What's the difference between "separate media shipped with Oracle Database" and a "Companion CD"?
The Companion CD was used for material that wouldn't fit on the base CD and which might be optional or unnecessary for many customers. The packaging was labeled with the term "Companion CD" using the English language proper-noun-as-adjective capitalization convention.
Wouldn't something that is shipped with something else be a companion?
Sure, but the suggested semantic relationship between the ad hoc notation "Companion" and companionship neither excludes accompanying or adjunct materials that do not have this designation from the "companion" category nor does it situate all "companion" material as members of the "Companion" category. If Oracle had labeled the CD as the "Overflow CD" the difference in connotation would have been slight but would not lead me to conflate such supplemental offerings with certain household plumbing mishaps.

  • Oracle 11g New Feature

    Hi Experts
I am currently doing a Oracle 9.2.0.8 32bit upgrade to 11gR2 64bit and I come across Oracle Document ID 7691270.8 and Oracle Database 11gR2 Upgrade Companion (Version 2.80). Both mention about the new feature of datafilewrite_errors_crash_instance. It started with patchset for 11.2.0.2 stating that a write error to any data file will cause the database to perform a shutdown abort of the instance.
Hoping to understand more about this new feature I google found this site that explains slightly abit more about it - http://www.jobacle.nl/?p=1126
Now my question is should I use this new feature in my new 11g database?
    1) Will 11g recover automatically from such instance failure?
    2) Is datafilewrite_errors_crash_instance=true REALLY similar to SHUTDOWN ABORT? If so, am I right to say that Instance Recovery in 11gR2 will occur automatically when an administrator attempts to open a database that was previously shut down inconsistently? (11g Oracle Documentation)
Now I would like to hear your views and input and would appreciate if there are other Oracle Documentation that explains more about how datafilewrite_errors_crash_instance and 11g instance recovery works hand in hand..
Thanks guys for taking time to reply this thread!

  • Which Companion Version for WebCenter Extensions in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5

My firm is using SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 for a variety of services which requires JDeveloper Studio 11.1.1.5. However, my firm also develops applications using ADF / WebCenter (currently 11.1.1.4, soon to be 11.1.1.6). While trying to experiment with a simple WebCenter application in JDeveloper and run a simple one-page test using the Integrated WebLogic domain within JDeveloper, the script used to "extend" that integrated WebLogic domain fails to execute successfully, stating extension JAR oracle.wc_adrs_template_11.1.1.jar is missing.
That JAR is provided by the WebCenter Suite JDeveloper Extension which is provided as part of the "Fusion Middleware Companion". I went to http://edelivery.oracle.com, drilled into Fusion Middleware 11g for my platform (Linux x86-64) then selected the 11.1.1.5 version of the "Companion". (I also downloaded the 11.1.1.6 version as well, more on that in a second...)
I unzipped the archive of the 11.1.1.5 companion, drilled into the Disk1/SmartUpgrade directory, then unzipped the WLsmartupgrade.zip archive, then copied jdeveloper_smartupgrade.zip to a folder on my Windows Vista machine used to run JDeveloper. I then started JDeveloper, went to Help | Check for Updates... then chose "Install from Local File" as the source and browsed to the location of the jdeveloper_smartupgrade.zip file and selected it.
The following compatibility errors were displayed:
    Extension Required Version Installed
    oracle.toplink min=11.1.1.1.0, max=11.1.1.4.99 11.1.1.5.37.60.13
    oracle.jdeveloper min=11.1.1.1.0, max=11.1.1.4.99 11.1.1.5.37.60.13
Ooooooookay, so how about the 11.1.1.6 "companion"? I unpacked that archive, extracted its version of jdeveloper_smartupgrade.zip to a directory, then attempted to load that patch within JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 and encountered the following compatibility errors:
    Extension Required Version Installed
    oracle.toplink min=11.1.2.0, max=11.1.2.99 11.1.1.5.37.60.13
    oracle.jdeveloper min=11.1.2.0, max=11.1.2.99 11.1.1.5.37.60.13
In short, the "companion" content labeled 11.1.1.5 requires extension versions TOO LOW for the default extensions installed as part of the 11.1.1.5.x build of JDeveloper. The "companion" content labeled 11.1.1.6 requires extension versions TOO HIGH for the default extensions installed as part of the 11.1.1.5.x build of JDeveloper.
Is there some other patch file somewhere that is compatible with the 11.1.1.5.37.60.13 versions of these other extensions? Again, it is NOT clear to me that upgrading JDeveloper from 11.1.1.5 to a newer version will maintain compatibility with the existing SOA Suite infrastructure I also need to interact with.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your answer.
    My Requirements are:
    1) Develope a stand alone ADF FACES(JSF 2.0) application
    2) Develope a Portal using webcenter- We need to implement portlets by taking some of the functonality that was implemented in section (1) and use the Portlet-JSF bridge to create the portlets.
Basically, we need to support JSF 2.0 standart.
As I understood I must use the JDeveloper 11.1.2 version as it support the JSF 2.0. but what about the Webcenter and the Portlet-JSF bridge to support JSF 2.0 ?
I will be happy to get a clarification for those requirments.
    Thanks a lot !

  • Oracle 11g installation on Linux Enterprise 5 remains hanging at 43%!

    Hi all,
as per Subject, I have installed a Linux Enterprise 5 OS downloaded by Oracle Download Center and it is now installed following the nice Guide here.
I have added the missing Linux packages and set up the kernel parameters as per Guide quoted above.
If I launch the Oracle installation, it completes the packages and parameters check fine, install goes fine until 43% and then hangs.
It's not freezing as the Installation window shows ongoing animations, if I try to stop installation it responds immediately asking for confirmation.
    It just hangs up!
The Linux machine is actually on a VMWare image on a MacOS Leopard host.
I have tried it on my laptop and desktop as well, but the hang point keeps being the same.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

  • 1z0-054: Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Expert

I am planning to give the exam 1z0-054 to get the certification, "Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Expert".
The Certification Path says that, if you are and "OCP DBA 11g" then you can directly take this paper, and there is no Instructor Led Training requirement. Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?
    Regards,
    Ahmer Mansoor

Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?First of all, the word 'dumps' has a specific meaning. It is shorthand for 'brain dumps' which are illegal and can cost you this certification and any others you have taken.
    http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0477
Second -- there currently is no study guide or book specific to this certification available at this time. I write study guides and this one is actually next on my list once I complete the current book for *1Z0-117: Oracle Database 11g Release 2: SQL Tuning*. I won't have a guide for 1Z0-054 until some time in May most likely. That said, I have some links to legal study material on the companion website for my guide series relevant to topics for this exam. It also has links to the Oracle documentation that contains information you need. Once I start writing the book for this exam, the links will expand rapidly as I research the topics for it and the documentation links may expand as well.

  • Upgrading from oracle 8i to oracle 11g

    current Oracle version is 8i
front end is visual basic 6
    OS is windows xp
    client OS is windows xp
I guess this question has been asked a lot in here.
But i guess i have some extra queries here
-> I m using oracle 8i and now I want to upgrade it to 11g. Is there any complications. I mean can i simply export a dump file from oracle 8i and import it in oracle 11g using imp tool, importing everything. If not what are not imported and what are other complications and consequences.
-> My front end is vb 6 so is there gonna be any problem. If it's unsupported which version would u prefer for vb 6
-> Can i install oracle 11g in windows xp or at least can i install oracle client in xp.
-> what kind of server would you suggest for oracle 11g.
Is there anybody to help me out here as quickly as possible.
    Thanx a lot

  • Oracle 11g R2 HTTP server for APEX

I am in the process of configuring new apex enviornment to run Oracle HTTP Server instead of the embedded server which we are currently using on another instance. I have configured 11g r2 along with companion version of Oraclle HTTP server entitled Oracle Fusion Middleware Web Tier Utilities.
Currently all is working fine with this configuraiton using SSL.
We have a couple of third party applications that are supplied in a EAR file for deployment. Does this version of Oracle HTTP support such deployments? There seems to be no gui interface to managing the http server and web cache. Do we need to move to the full Fusion app server to support EAR deployments, etc. If so, I am assuming we would then have to purchase Fusion product unlike http product for APEX.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

For a number of reasons scrapped http server and installed and configured GlassFish community edition with Apex Listener. With caching enabled all is working great. Weblogic is overkill.

  • Where is the 11g workflow home page???

On 10g it was at http://<host.:7777/pls/wf/wfa_html.home
Where did they hide it in 11g, since workflow is part of Warehouse builder....?
Everything is working, OWB and workflow...but I can't find the Oracle Workflow home page...help please

Hmmm...that doesnt work for me; there is nothing listening on 7778 or 7777 on my 11g RAC Cluster.
Oracle wants me to install the Apache server off the 10g companion cd and create the dads...etc. Just like you had to do in 10g...
I can see it working fine with a single node; but not with RAC. If metalink's way is the only way, that means I'll have two disconnected http servers, both serving up the same DAD's, that doesn't sound like a really good idea.
Ok...anyone really know what the right answer is...I'll probably go with the metalink sr answer and install the 10g http servers (even though I don't like the idea), if no one has a better solution...
