11g tutorial - FileNotFound Exception
I'm working through "Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF" using JDeveloper Studio Version 11.1.1.1.0 which I downloaded on 2nd July (Fusion 11g).
Platform is Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard) \[ which I understand is a certified platform for this release \]
I've got as far as the section entitled "Binding Data Controls to your JSF page" item 9 where I try to Run for the first time. This fails.
In the server log I see this:-
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk TI/-Tmp-/adfmeta883844420450827226.xml (No such file or directory)
There is no directory on my file-system named "/var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk TI"
However, there is a directory named "/var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk+++TI"
This directory contains 4 sub-directories:-
-Caches-
-Tmp-
DocSet_Downloads
TemporaryItems
Has anyone else seen this and/or know of a workaround?
As far as I can tell, the only essential pre-requisite for running JDeveloper on Mac OS X is the creation of a symbolic link for classes.jar / rt.jar. In fact, the installation instructions state that this is required in order to run JDeveloper. In fact, I discovered, this is essential for the installation process to work.
Mac OS X uses an unusual (to say the least) mechanism for handling temporary directories. However, the actual location should be completely transparent to any application.
The actual path to the temporary location will vary by user within system. For example, on my machine, this code \[fragment\]
File t = File.createTempFile("Andy", null, null);
System.out.println(t.getAbsolutePath());
... reveals this ...
/var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk+++TI/-Tmp-/Andy6602723369474613581.tmp
This is entirely as expected.
So let's remind ourselves of the error reported during the deployment...
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk TI/-Tmp-/adfmeta1025791649343788752.xml (No such file or directory)[01:42:37 PM] #### Deployment incomplete. ####
Now, if we take that path literally (as reported), it would be impossible for such a file to exist because the directory "/var/folders/gp/gp1gPqTdGuKbVycxxGdzyk TI" doesn't exist.
I suspect that the temporary directory (or maybe the full path) has been "massaged" in some bizarre manner which has caused the characters "+++" to be replaced by " " (i.e. 3 spaces)
I'm currently looking to see if there's a way to coerce the system into using a different location for its temporary files.
In the meantime, I'm certain that this is a bug in the current release.

File LookUp in the MM : FileNotFound Exception
Hello Friends,
I am trying to fetch a file during the message mapping. The code I have written in the UDF is as follows :
<u>
String company = "";
HashMap fileMap = new HashMap();
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("C:
testfolder
Mydata.txt"));
String line = "";
while((line = reader.readLine())!=null)
String[] lineArray = line.split(",");
fileMap.put(lineArray[1], lineArray[0]);
company = (String) fileMap.get(a);
return company; </u>
<b>
But I am getting the FileNotFound Exception when I tried to run the interface mapping.
I have confirmed that file is there in the respective folder.
1. Can we use the above code to fetch the file ?
2. Do we need to put the file in the XI server ?
</b>
Thanks for your time.
~PRANAVand what exactly you are trying to do with this code ?
to access files,you need to use Java io api's,and you can access file from any server,not just XI server
but there are few drawbacks with this,first of all the file name and path will be hardcoded so u need to change it every time you move your file from Dev to QA to Prd.
secondly this approach is good to read the file,but not a very good idea to write something in the file
Thanx

BUG!: JDeveloper 11g Tutorial code is incomplete.
I am attempting the complete the JDeveloper 11g Tutorial from the Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework
After adding all the latest jars available from the ADF Installer to the StoreFrontModule I am left with 10 errors all of with seem to be the result of missing methods (especially findByAltKey) from both Oracle packages and the tutorials code itself. The errors and the .java files affected are listed below. Please let me know if you need more information or if you have a solution to these compilation errors.

}/Thanks alot Mike ..The tips you gave were very helpful..I could solution using the Object IFSJavaFile, cause when i make :
IFSJavaFile chosenFile = (IFSJavaFile)(chooser.getSelectedFile());
II was getting only the path but not the system and when the systems are different(you were right XMl files were on OS400) then i got the FileNotFound Exception always.Down is the corrected main methode:
public static void main(String[] args) {
try{
// Work with /Dir/File.txt on the system wkdis3.
AS400 system = new AS400("wkdis3");
IFSJavaFile dir = new IFSJavaFile(system, "//wkdis3/ROOT/home/bwe/");

System.out.println ("Canonicalpath-Directory4: " + directory4);
// IFSJavaFile dir = new IFSJavaFile( "\\wkdis3\ROOT\home\bwe");
JFileChooser chooser = new JFileChooser(dir, new IFSFileSystemView(system));

IFSJavaFile chosenFile = (IFSJavaFile)(chooser.getSelectedFile());
System.out.println("You selected the file named " +

New ReportDocument() thows System.IO.FileNotFound exception
I've inherited a Visual Studio 2003 windows service that uses managed C++ and C# + Crystal to print reports. It was using Crystal 9 and now I'm trying to upgrade it to Crystal 11.
Most of the windows service is in managed C++ but the Crystal part is in C#. Basically it does a new ReportDocument, loads a report file, feeds it a dataset and some parameters and uses ReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(...) to output it.
Everything still compiles after moving to Crystal 11 but I get a System.IO.FileNotFound exception when it gets to
m_rptDocument = new ReportDocument();
The exception doesn't include any information as to which file is not found. So far FileMon hasn't been very helpful. there are too many NOT FOUND results generated just as part of the normal running. I tried a simplified test windows service and that seemed to work.
I assume it is some sort of dependency issue. Does anyone have any ideas how I can uncover the problem source?
Thanks.
BenThe service pack helped a little. I'm getting different errors now. They are a little more informative. 4 exceptions all stemming from doing a new ReportDocument();

Strange javax.ejb.EJBException FileNotFound Exception though form is found
Hi,
I've set up a simple workflow, which consists of two user QPACs, which are connected to each other, let's call the first one 'user' and the second one 'admin'.
I use a simple init-form, which merely consists of a dropdown and a submit button.
The workflow works fine: 'user' selects a value from the dropdown-list, submits the form, 'admin' opens the form, the dropdown's value is still selected.
However, in the logfile, the following exception is thrown:
INFO [STDOUT] Got tempFile : D:\Adobe\LiveCycle\temp\adobejb\DM4268780530925093172.dir\DM6500814794164759285.pdf

As the workflow works, I could easily forget about the exception. But it outputs a couple of thousand(!) lines in the logfile each time, the form's submit button is pressed.
Does anyone know, why do I get a FileNotFound exception though the workflow works fine???
The exception may result from the incorrect path, which contains
//. But why is the form then loaded anyway?
Regards,
SteveHi Steve
I'm not sure what the cause of the problem is.
One thing...do you use the same form all the way through your process?
If so, you should just be moving your form url information via your form variable. You would only choose "Change the form template Url to:" field if there was a different version of the form at this step. It doesn't hurt to do it but there is no need to. This is extra overhead.
To use the same form all the way through the WF and move the data from each step:
1) specify an init-form
2) specify a form variable
3) on the Mappings tab of your user QPAC you select your form variable as your "Input Variable" and select "use form template Url defined by Input Form Variable".
4) also on the Mappings tab of your user QPAC you select your form variable as your "Output Variable"
(You are probably not doing this, but there is also no need to fill in the template-url field in your form variable.)

Hello,
with build 36, I had a desktop application which uses spring framework. There is an XML file that is read from the classpath, using the ClassPathXmlApplicationContext from spring. The XML file is in the root of my jar file. JNLP is used to release the application (on Tomcat). Everything worked as expected.
With build 37 and 38, I have a FileNotFoundException when running with JNLP. Running in IDE works fine.
Has anyone else found resource / classpath problems when running with JNLP?
kind regards,
Peter

Problem with reading from DAT file. FileNotFound exception
Can't seem to find the issue here. Two files, one (listOfHockeyPlayers) reads from a DAT file a list of players. The other (HockeyPlayer) has just the constructor to make a new hockey player from the read data.
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.io.*;
public class ImportHockeyPlayers
private ArrayList<HockeyPlayer> listOfHockeyPlayers = new ArrayList<HockeyPlayer>();
public ImportHockeyPlayers(String fileName)
throws FileNotFoundException
try
Scanner scan = new Scanner(new File(fileName));
while (scan.hasNext())
//Uses all the parameters from the HockeyPlayer constructor
String firstName = scan.next();
String lastName = scan.next();
int num = scan.nextInt();
String country = scan.next();
int dob = scan.nextInt();
String hand = scan.next();
int playerGoals = scan.nextInt();
int playerAssists = scan.nextInt();
int playerPoints = playerGoals + playerAssists;
//listOfHockeyPlayers.add(new HockeyPlayer(scan.next(),scan.next(),scan.nextInt(),scan.next(),scan.nextInt(),scan.next(),
//scan.nextInt(),scan.nextInt(),scan.nextInt()));
catch(FileNotFoundException e)
throw new FileNotFoundException("File Not Found!");
public String toString()
String s = "";
for(int i = 0; i < listOfHockeyPlayers.size(); i++)
s += listOfHockeyPlayers.get(i);
return s;
public class HockeyPlayer
private String playerFirstName;
private String playerLastName;
private int playerNum;
private String playerCountry;

private int playerAssists;
private int playerPoints;
public HockeyPlayer(String firstName, String lastName, int num, String country, int DOB,

this.playerFirstName = firstName;
this.playerLastName = lastName;
this.playerNum = num;

DAT File
Wayne Gretzky 99 CAN 8/13/87 R 120 222
Joe Sakic 19 CAN 9/30/77 L 123 210These are all in early development, we seem to have the idea down but keep getting the odd FileNotFound exception when making an object of the ImportHockeyPlayers class with the parameter of the DAT file.
We might even be on the wrong track with an easier way to do this. To give you an idea of what we want to do...read from the file and be able to pretty much plug in al lthe players into a GUI with a list of the all the players.
Thanks for your time.Thanks for the tip on the date format...good to
know.
public static void main(String[] args)
GUI gui = new GUI();
ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
}It's just being called in the main.
Throws this error:
GUI.java:39: unreported exception
java.io.FileNotFoundException; must be caught or
declared to be thrown
ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
^This error is simply telling you that an exception may occur so you must enclose it in a try catch block or change the main method to throw the exception as follows
public static void main(String[] args) throws
java.io.FileNotFoundException {
GUI gui = new GUI();
ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
}or
public static void main(String[] args) {
GUI gui = new GUI();
try {
ImportHockeyPlayers ihp = new
ImportHockeyPlayers("HockeyPlayers.dat");
catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
System.out.println("error, file not found");
}I would reccomend the second approch, it will be more helpful in debugging, also make sure that the capitalization of "HockeyPlayers.dat" is correct
hope that helps -
Hi,
I would like to follow the webcenter 11g tutorial which stands in the oracle fusion middleware 11g documentation library.
For this tutorial you need to have sample tutorial files. In the tutorial there is this link http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/files/webcentertutorialcontent_11120.zip, but this link doesn't work anymore.
Does anyone have another link where I can download the tutorial files?
Regards,
HermanIs it this one:

Error while running HRFacadeClient of JDev 11g Tutorial
Hi,
I was following the tutorial under Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces
Section 19 says to run application under OC4J,
<strong>19.</strong> Right click the <strong>HRFacadeBean</strong> in the Application Navigator and select <strong>Run</strong> from the context menu to launch the facade bean in the Embedded OC4J sever.
Curently OC4J not available under JDev 11g Production version, so it runs under Web-logic Server which comes with JDeveloper 11g. Please see the log below:

SanthoshHi Heidi,
I tried once again to install a fresh instance of Oracle soa suite 10.1.3.0 and upgraded it to 10.1.3.4 successfully. I did all the JDeveloper 11g installation and configure SOA process all successfully. I can create a connection to OC4J using 12401 RMI port successfully but none of my applications are deployed to server.
This message is repeatedly displaying in messages tab:
Exception returned by remote server: com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIConnectionException: Disconnected: oracle.oc4j.admin.management.shared.SharedModuleType. local class incompatible during deploy ...
The default OC4J RMI port is 23791 but in my installation it is set to 12401 when I checked the Runtime Port option of Oracle Application Server and the connection is fine with this port but applications can not be deployed with this configuration.
I can deploy applications on separate standalone OC4J instance successfully but not able to do it with my SOA application server.
Any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks again

Webcenter 11g Tutorial: Building portlets and wiring them fails at step 6
I'm running through the WebCenter Tutorial. I've done everything up to this point. I've created the portlet, checked the view.jsp works, and registered it as a WSRP producer in my tutorial application.
Step 6 asks me to drag and drop the portlet from the resource palette onto my page. This works, except when I run the page I get portlet unavailable on the generated page.
The only thing I can think of is that the portlet deployment is being stopped when the tutorial app is being deployed - so I can't run then both at the same time, but that's me guessing from the error messages. Can anyone help?
In JDev it says the following:
[Another instance of the application is running on the server. JDeveloper redeploy the application.]
[Application MyTutorialPortlet stopped but not undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]

RBTo anyone else encountering this:
I would just like to report, that Oracle Development has managed to reproduce this problem from scratch by following a similar upgrade path 10.1.3.0->10.1.3.4->11.1.1.0. The problem is NOT OS-related, but related to migrating the user settings from 10.1.3.3. So Jan you were right about that. Credits go to you :)
The only workaround for me has so far been to take a backup of my old SYSTEM directory causing the problem, and I have been forced to carefully recreate all my settings to get around this problem, since I already removed my old 10.1.3.3 installation, assuming the migration went OK - which it didn't... So, I will keep my old backup, in the hope that Development finds a fix to this issue, so I can go back to the settings I used to have, even though I THINK I have recreated them all for 11g - not completely sure though... time will tell.
Until then, I will track the bug, that Didier has logged for me, which he mentioned in his post.

11g ADF TaskFlow Exception Handling in BPM
Hi Guys
BPM 11g
I have a human task that is implemented as an ADF task flow. I would like to be able to throw an exception from the ADF application and have it handled by the BPM process, does anyone know if this is possible or how I would do that?
At the moment I have an ADF error page - I could return an "error" outcome to the process from that but an error is an error and it feels right to show that in the process instead of a normal outcome.
anyone else worked through this?
cheers,
Stevehelp yourself with this thread - Re: Exception Handling
it should answer your question -
Where is the tutorial of OBPM 11g?
Does OBPM 11g has API or API document like OBPM 10g?The Sales Quote demo for 11g can be found here:
