11G XE limitations for production use

Hi Gurus,
I am new for this EX edition here i want to know limitations for this 11G XE edition.
We are planing to implement XE edition for production . Can any one please help me what are the advantages and dis-advantages.
I came to know that up to 11 GB of data it will support and 1GB of Ram. Here 11GB data support means including hole database base only. And how many customers can connect at a time for the database.
Please help me.
Thanks & Regards,
Poorna Prasad.S

Hi,
I'm not a Guru, but if you don't mind, I'll try to answer your question anyway.
Can any one please help me what are the advantages and dis-advantages.Well, the major advantage is obvious: It's free. A second one is the fact that you have a more recent APEX version preinstalled than the regular 11.2 database.
The disadvantages result from the limitations. As you already mentioned, you only can store up to 11 GB data and use up to 1 GB RAM. In addition to that, XE will use only the equivalent of 1 CPU. For all details on limitations, you can read the [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/license.112/e18068/toc.htm]Licensing Information. And of course, you can't get support for XE, i.e. you don't have access to security updates and can't open a service request if something's not working.
And how many customers can connect at a time for the database.Well, there is no hard limit for that. But due to the fact that RAM and CPU are limited, XE doesn't scale up unlimited. The actual limit will depend on your application(s), i.e. how much RAM will it consume and how many CPU-seconds per request. As a result you'll get a physical and an acceptance limit due to the fact that response times usually shouldn't exceed a certain value...

  • Web Service Developer Pack for production use?

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me what the licensing is for use of the web services developer pack reference implementations? Can they be used in a production environment, or are they for development purposes only?
    Any information is appreciated.

The JWSDP can be used for production use. It is not just
a reference implementation. The exception is the bundled
UDDI registry which is just for testing development.

We are starting a SAP project from scratch – and my manager has asked if we could run the solution on Linux. I know that Linux is supported by SAP, but is the solution mature enough for productive use?  Do any off you have any experience with this ?

  • Recommendation of use for MaxDB for production use and Oracle comparison

    Hi all,
We are about to propose to a customer of ours the use of SAPDB for production use. This would be a good way to reduce license costs.
Previous use of this DB platform has shown that it is mature, but since I am not a basis or DBA, I can't really pinpoint if we miss a lot of functionality.
Who could provide some info on the following:
1 - Are there major functionalities that Oracle provides that MaxDB doesn't?
2 - Customer reference (or your inputs) on success stories.
    Thanks in advance.

    > 1 - Are there major functionalities that Oracle provides that MaxDB doesn't?
I would ask:"What functionalities do you expect from a database system?" - and then "Can MaxDB provide those functionalities?". It does not makes sense, IMHO, to compare "possible" things if you never need them.
    > 2 - Customer reference (or your inputs) on success stories.
We run MaxDB (former ADABAS D, former SAPDB) for 12 years now on all our systems. Our main ERP 6.0 EHP4 has a size of 3 TB, we run on Linux serving about 900 users (700 concurrent), a BI with roughly 1 TB (with BWA), CRM with 600 GB, and tons of portals and smaller systems (SRM, SRM-MDM 7.1, GTS 7.2, SolMan,  PLM (cProjects), Content Servers and more).
There are, as with every database, "performance problems" in special areas but generally our response times are below 500 ms on the main ERP.
One drawback of the MaxDB is the fact, that it does not use UTF-8/CESU-8 to store the data (yet) so if you use only single byte codepages in a Unicode system, you will neverless consume the full 2-byte space per character.
Basically I think that you can run roughly 98 % of the current systems on MaxDB without any impacts.

  • Is sql as a language free for production use ?

is sql and pl/sql as a languages free for production use ?
and if you wanna help me , tell me about programming languages in general ?
    thanks in advance

    semsem wrote:
is sql and pl/sql as a languages free for production use ?The questions don't make sense. What is important is whether the database allows production use, not the language.
First, SQL is a standard. Every database vendor implements their own, slightly different, SQL dialect. Whether SQL is free depends on what database you're referring to and how that database is licensed. There are tons of open source databases (i.e. MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc) that support a dialect of SQL and can be used in production at no cost. If you are talking about Oracle, it depends on the edition of the database and the terms of the license. If you have the express edition (Oracle XE), you can use that database's SQL engine in production at no cost.
PL/SQL is Oracle's procedural extensions to SQL. As with SQL, though, what is important is how the database that implements the PL/SQL VM is licensed. That, in turn, depends on the edition of the database just like it does for SQL. If you have the express edition (Oracle XE), you can use that database's PL/SQL engine in production at no cost.
and if you wanna help me , tell me about programming languages in general ?Here, it's even less clear what you're asking.
Most languages are free to use. Many languages or deployment scenarios, however, require you to license something else in order to actually run code written in that language. You can, for example, write and use a .Net application free of charge. But since your application relies on the .Net libraries that come with Windows, you would need to license Windows on the machine you are running the application (or run a Linux box with Mono and hope that everything you need from the CLR has been ported). You can find free JVMs to run Java applications on most platforms. But if you want to run a Java stored procedure inside Oracle, you'd need to license Oracle. If you want to run a Java object on a JEE app server, you'll need a JEE app server (many of which require you to obtain a license for commercial deployments).

  • Can CC subscribers install LR CC for evaluation and keep LR5.7 for production use?

I'd like to evaluate LR CC, but have plugins that aren't yet compatible with it. Therefore, I want to keep LR5.7 for production use. Is this possible?

Yes, LR 6 will convert (by making a copy) your catalog, and you can then edit in the new version.  You must take some caution, e.g. in operations that change your actual images (such as writing metadata or moving images around).
The safest thing would be to NOT convert your catalog but rather build a whole separate work area of images and catalog that is disposable, but it is certainly possible to test LR6 in place if you are careful and aware of what operations you take.
Note you can run LR 5.7.1 and LR 6 (aka CC) from Creative Cloud at the same time as well -- you can even go back and install prior versions from the CC app.

Why is MSI selling these cards with a firmware like this?
Why there is no updated firmware for download?

Where can i download a retail fw?

This is a user to user forum and MSI does not read or participate in these forums.
You need to contact MSI directly to get answers about this BIOS...
    I see... thank you.

But... why overclock a 6200 video card??? I really doubt that you get a better performance in games or 3D app's with this video card.

Trying to overclock a 6200 is like trying to Supe up a Yugo. What is the point, there is nothing you could do to it, to make it play today's games.

here are some articles about overclocking the 6200:

  • The watermark "Preliminary, Draft, not for production use"

    Hi
Just curious, I see the watermark "Preliminary, Draft, not for production use" on the following page :
    http://agriculture.tennessee.edu/facultyandstaff/forms/LeaveForm.pdf
Is this generated when right-enabled is applied and the owner use evaluation version of Adobe Document Server? or because of other cause?
    Anybody knows?
    Thanks

Yes, it's because of the use of an evaluation version of some software.. probably Reader Extensions.

  • BIOS Update for nVidia GTX 550 Ti? I have a BIOS "not for production use"

    Hi,
I bought a new computer about a month ago, and it all works well, but every now and then, the whole system freezes completely for 2-4 minutes, and then afterwards resumes where it was. This is extremely annoying, and it really could be anything, I don't have evidence that it's the video card, but I'm trying to get everything updated to the latest version.
When my computer boots up, I see this message:
    GF116 P1050 SKU 0 VGA BIOS
    MSIMV261MS.105Version 70.26.20.00.00
Engineering Release - Not for Production Use
    Build Date: 02/23/11
    Revision Date: 02/16/11
    Copyright © 1996-2011 NVIDIA Corp.
So, evidently this BIOS is wrong, and i'm trying to update it, but I can't find where to download an update.
Could you please point me in the right direction?
    Thank you

I noticed the same thing... BUT I made 2 mistakes:
Failed to make a copy of this BIOS using GPU-Z
Updated to 1.06 via MSI Update 5 (26110.rom)
Then I read the posts on this subforum and realized my mistakes.
I'm just in the initial stages of installing software on this machine, so I haven't noticed any problems.
I saved the updated BIOS via GPU-Z and compared the hashes against the 1.06 BIOS offered by MSI on their page for this card (NV261MS.106) ==> they matched  MD5: 52ECDDEFAEA86E745C09FF8A43541078
Afterburner 2.1.0 gives the following info:
    Quote
Display device       : GeForce GTX 550 Ti on GF116 GPU
    Display driver       : ForceWare 266.71
    BIOS                 : 70.26.20.00.00
    GUID                 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1244&SUBSYS_26101462&REV_A1&BUS_1&DEV_0&FN_0
My question is how badly did I mess up and what should I do now?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle 11g express edition for commercial use

    Hello everybody,
does anybody know if i can use 11g or even 10g express edition for commercial use?
    What i mean is:
-Can i use it inside my company to store customers, supplies etc?
-Can i develop an application on it and sell it to another one?
    Thank,

    Hi Mike,
for me the license agreement wasn't totally clear in some areas and after a misunderstanding with Oracle Sales in Germany I decided to talk to Oracle Product Management, here is the answer: http://daust.blogspot.de/2012/08/clarification-on-oracle-xe-licensing.html
It is definitely free for all commercial usages.

  • Mapviewer map_request limitations for when using wms and jdbc themes?

Are there limitations to not use either the bounding_themes or the center option when a basemap requests both a jdbc and a wms theme? I would like to have the bounding_theme be the jdbc theme. I can see how this could pose challenges in that there would be a need to retrieve the jdbc theme and calc the mbr before issuing the wms requests w/ the correct bbox. Would be a nice feature though.

woops, sorry LJ -- it works. Do you have suggestions though for dealing w/ case where the jdbc theme returns one point? id like to use something like the border_margin to pad the point out to a box, but seems to always just return just the point. mkaes sense since multiplying 0 by anything is zero. we are planning on writing a servlet that instead uses sdo_buffer then construct the coordinates tag w/ the sdo_aggr_mbr. that should accommodate 1..n points returned.

  • Is the JMS adapter on the J2se supported for productive use?

    Hello ,
I am in a big confusion whether to go with simple J2SE AE for my JMS scenario or to install the J2EE AE.
Is there any consequences or problems or difference in using the JMS scenario in J2SE AE and J2EE AE?
It is purely for Production purpose. Whether it is supported to use J2SE AE for configuring JMS scenario in
    production systems?

    Hi Michal Krawczyk,
I knew that they are using J2SE AE. But i am having more specific question like, Is it feasible to configure a JMS scenario in J2SE AE environment for business scenario in production system.
Can you please comment on this?

    HI,
Issue for Production is an Inventory Exit document (BoObjectTypes.oInventoryGenExit) where the base type is Production Order
Set the following on Invenroy Exit:
    oPoExit.Lines.BaseType = 202; // production
    oPoExit.Lines.BaseEntry = AbsEntry;
    oPoExit.Lines.BaseLine = LineNumber;
Where AbsEntry is the Production order DocEntry field
LineNumber is the line number of Production order.
