11gr2 - 11.2.0.2 -root.sh executed on remote node first can harm anything ?
Hello Expert,
It seems like we have Oracle GRID forum having some issue so i am posting grid Question on Real Application Clusters forum.
I am installing 11gr2 - 11.2.0.2 Grid infrastructure on Red hat linux 5- x86_64 (Host01-04, Host01-LOCAL and Host 02-04 REMOTE) . During install it pop up to execute
orainstRoot.sh,root.sh as root and they clearly mentioned that execute
orainstRoot.sh,root.sh on local node first and then the remote node. But by mistake i have executed root.sh on remote node first HOST02 (Host01-04, Host01-LOCAL and Host 02-04 REMOTE).
Does it really affect anything?
Thanks in Advance.
Billy
Yes, you're right.
Its a empty Prod Box where nothing is running but eventually it would become Production LIVE box with Prod Database instances.
Yes, Only concerns about the master instance .As you seen below host 2 is master right node right now.without bringing down the node 2 can i convert node 1 to master.
we are not using ASM so you'll see ASM services in OFFLINE state.

Edited by: Eren GULERYUZ on 06.Ara.2010 05:57Hi,
it looks like, that your "shared device" you are using is not really shared.
The second node does "create an ASM diskgroup" and create OCR and Voting disks. If this indeed would be a shared device, he should have recognized, that your disk is shared.
So as a result your VMware configuration must be wrong, and the disk you presented as shared disk is not really shared.
Which VMWare version did you use? It will not work correctly with the workstation or player edition, since shared disks are only really working with the server version.
If you indeed using the server, could you paste your vm configurations?
Furthermore I recommend using Virtual Box. There is a nice how-to:

Hi All,
Where will be the setting of enviroment when I become superuser ? I have a few binaries in /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin but when I su to root I can't execute directly the application inside that directory. So I have to
give the full path i.e /usr/local/bin/sudo to execute sudo.
But how can i just execute it whereever I am so i do not need to give the full path. I know that for users you can do it on .profile but how about when you su to root, where does it read the default enviroments.
thank you in advance.
AlphaThe same is true if you su to root ie the default path is taken from your users (roots) .profile and the $PATH env variable.
So my guess is your actual problem is roots .profile is not being sourced when you su to root .......
Why ? again a guess, but if you attempt to do this under say CDE via a dtterm or similar be aware of the loginShell resource, see man dtterm.
You may want to try the following : open a dtterm window, su to root, then run dtterm -ls and check in the new dtterm wiindow that roots .profile has been sourced as expected. If this works ........
create in roots $HOME a file called .Xdefaults and add the following line :
dtterm*loginShell: True, then either reload resources or log out of CDE and then back in to activate the resource.

How to Execute a Remote Procedure in Portal using Database Link
Hi,
I followed the instructions to create a Portal form for a remote procedure. But I am encountering the following error. Can someone advise what may be the cause?
Failed to execute - Missing string(create_package_body) language(us) domain (wwv) sub_domain (wwv_builder) (WWV-04300)
ORA-04020: deadlock detected while trying to lock object PUBLIC.PORTLET_SCHEMA (WWV-11230)
Failed to parse as PORTAL - (WWV-08300)
PURPOSE
How to execute a remote procedure in Portal using Database Link.
DESCRIPTION
This procedure assumes that you have two databases, one of which is remote, and Portal is configured in the other.
Remote Database A:
==================
1) Create a procedure as follows: Create or Replace PROCEDURE SCOTT.ADD_TWO_VALUES ( v_one IN NUMBER, v_two IN NUMBER, v_result OUT NUMBER) as begin v_result :=v_one+v_two; end; 2) Grant execute privileges to PUBLIC on the procedure.
Database B (where Portal is configured): ========================================
1) Create a public database link and choose to connect as a specific user (say SYSTEM). By default, in an Oracle 8i database, the "global_names" parameter in initSID.ora (or init.ora) file is set to "true". This Global Naming parameter enforces that a dblink has the same name as the database it connects to. Therefore, if the remote global database (A) name is "ora8.acme.com" then the database link should also be named as "ora8.acme.com".
2) Create a synonym for the procedure in Database A. Make sure you fully qualify the procedure name in the remote database (like SCOTT.ADD_TWO_VALUES).
3) Create a dynamic page to execute the procedure. The ORACLE tags in the dynamic page will look similar to the following: <ORACLE> DECLARE v_total NUMBER; BEGIN ADD_TWO_VALUES(:v_one,:v_two, v_total); htp.p('The total is => '); htp.p('<input type="TEXT" VALUE='||v_total||'>'); htp.para; htp.anchor('http://<machine.domain:port#>/pls/portal30/SCOTT.DYN_ADD_TWO_VALUES.show_parms', 'Re-Execute Procedure'); END; </ORACLE>
4) Portal does not have an option to create a form based on a synonym. Therefore, if you want to create a form instead of a dynamic page, create a wrapper procedure and then create a form based on this procedure. For example: Create or Replace PROCEDURE PORTAL30.ADD_TWO_VALUES_PR ( v_one IN NUMBER, v_two IN NUMBER, v_total OUT NUMBER) as begin add_two_values(v_one, v_two, v_total); end;
5) Grant execute privileges to PUBLIC on the procedure.hello...
any input will welcomed... Thanks.. -

Edited by: 868121 on 2011-6-24 上午12:31Hello, it took a little searching, but I found this in a note in the GRID installation guide for Linux/UNIX:
Public IP addresses and virtual IP addresses must be in the same subnet.
In your case, you are using two different subnets for the VIPs. -
Help needed in executing a remote batch file
I need to execute a batch file which is located on a remote machine through my machine. I have no idea to go about with. Please can someone help me out with can be used to execute the remote bat file. I am at present using Runtime.exec() to execute it on my machine.. But i cant use it to execute teh bat file on teh remote machine. Please help
Below is an example server that would run on the remote host. You can connect to it using telnet from DOS prompt, it takes a Y/N to run your command in the cmd variable. I haven't included code for a client as it's really not needed for the example below.
Change the cmd and port variables to what you need. You may need to setup firewall rules to allow your chosen port.
Once it's running, you can test it by using "telnet localhost 1234" on your machine, localhost would obviously become the remote computer's hostname or IP.
I am incredibly new to Java (using the forums to learn bits), so excuse any bad coding practises, I'm sure people will point them out.
Keep in mind that this is totally insecure, so if you're using it on an untrusted network, you may want to look into encryption and providing some kind of password authentication, that, for the moment is out of my league.
Screenshot here.

An error occurred when executing a REMOTE FUNCTION CALL.
Dear all,
We have two syetms called DXD and GRD , we have a remote enabled function module in the DXD system , when i am trying to call this Function module from
GRD system it is going for the short dump, and giving the follwing error,
<b>Error analysis
An error occurred when executing a REMOTE FUNCTION CALL.
It was logged under the name "RFC_NO_AUTHORITY"
on the called page.</b>
But i do have the access for the DXD system also, i am really struggling to solve this problem, if any lights are there to help me , i will be thank full for then,
some body suggested for me that we need to maintain the Trusted system tables in the target system.
Thanks & regards
Satya.first u( user id ) have to get the Authorizations to use RFC ?
object will be like S_RFC or some thing like this.
when u get this kind of error just call /NSU53 then u will come to know which Authorization Object is missing from ur User Profile.

My UDLM version is 3.3.4.9.

the name and the root of the hard drive change, how can i reset it?
That sort of thing doesn't happen automatically,. Someone had to change it. Just rename it anything you like. Right click on it and select Get Info then in the Name and Extension are name what you like.

Execute selection report SDSPESTA first-transaction code v23
we are into upgradation project to ecc6
when i run the transaction V23 (SD documents blocked for billing) i am getting the information (Execute selection report SDSPESTA first)
i need to get rid of this
wt i need to do?
Regards
AnilJust do what it says - run SDSPESTA report in SE38 (or ask an ABAPer to do it for you if you don't have access). This program updates the Overall Block status in VBUP and VBUK tables. Obviously, in your system this status is not filled in currently (possibly due to a configuration change).

Unable to execute a remote proc
Hi I am unable to execute a remote procedure from forms6i, and that procedure runs coolly form sql plus console. I just dont get any exception or error. Thats really pathetic for me now.
I need help.
thanx RajeevHi ,
Remote procedure means the procedure in database. My database is in solaris, d2k on win2k and other database on win2k. I am executing a remote procedure on solaris Oracle db to poll data from win2k db using forms, i.e. on button click. The form user and the solaris db users are same. I am using dblink here.
Hope this helps in clarifying my query further.
thanx -

Boot Camp partition added to VMWare Fusion...can't see original partition
I originally installed Windows XP Pro using Boot Camp. The partition was available using the OPTION-startup to select that partition. Then I installed VMWare Fusion and had it "use" that Boot Camp partition so I could access it while running Leopard.
