11gR2 Certifications

Hi all,
Do anybody know when the Oracle 11gR2 certifications exam will be ready? I want to be certified in 11g R2 and I know now I can upgrade my OCP to 11g but with release 1.
For example, RAC administration are shared between 10gR2 and 11gR1 but the architecture and implementation is different in RAC 11gR2 where there are not yet certification ready for it.
Approciate your kindl update,
Regards,
C.

Dear HGDBA and Mirza,
Thank you for the update. I had checked a month back and didn't see this update statement. I am going to start the review and sharpen the skills for the OCP upgrade exam :-)
Do you have any idea for RAC administration 11gR2 OCE ? I know that RAC Adminisration in 11gR2 is different from 11gR1 and 10g because if the Grid Infrastructure.
Regards,
C.

    Hi,
From OIM 11gR2 certification all the OS it support is of 64 bit.
Is there no suuport for 32 bit architectures from 11gR2.
    Please clarify..
    Thank you.

Yes, it supports 32 bit as well.

  • Oracle 11gR2 certification for Oracle Linux 6

    Hello,
According to Oracle documentation, database certification and support for Oracle 11gR2 under Oracle Linux starts with 11.2.0.3.
I was wondering if this might have anything to do with the i386 software prerequisites. Speaking of Oracle 11gR2 x86_64, the need for i386 libraries was removed with 11gR2 11.2.0.2. Or in other words, one can go straight to 11.2.0.2 without the need to install any 32-bit libraries.
Under Oracle Linux 5 x86_64, the "oracle-validated" package triggers the installation of several i386 packages. Under Oracle Linux 6 x86_64, the oracle-rdbms-server-11gr2-preinstall package uses x86_64 only. Under Oracle Linux 6, i386 changed to i686.
For what it's worth, I have installed Oracle 11gR2 database 11.2.0.1 under Oracle Linux 6.1 to 6.3, both x86_64, simply by using the oracle-rdbms-server-11gr2-preinstall package, and so far have not noticed any problems. Is there some information available, why 11.2.0.1 (x86_64) should not be used or is not certified for Oracle Linux 6 (x86_64)?
    Thanks.

I was afraid of that. Since the question is Oracle Linux 6 specific, I thought I'd try my luck here, thinking that if I get an answer, then probably here. Maybe it was not very realistic to get an answer anyway.
For what it's worth. Using "oracle-validated" under Oracle Linux 5, and "oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall" under Oracle Linux 6, I was able to install Oracle 11gR2 11.2.0.1 just fine, both platforms x86_64 and 32-bit. I have not found any operational issues yet and it seems to run perfectly well.
The only trouble I had was with Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.1, and here 11.2.0.3 is indeed required for it to install. I made a custom patch, just a few lines and after that 11.2.0.1, both x86_64 and 32-bit installed just fine and is fully operational.
I'm though I could post the patch. I guess it might make those people happy who do not have access to Oracle support and download 11.2.0.3. The patch will allow them to use the 11gR2 OTN version and install it under Oracle Linux 6. It won't be certified, but it is good enough for the purpose of education.
    I'm closing the thread.

  • 11gR2 Certification for 12.1.2 and 11i10

    Hi Steven,
Can you please confirm if 11gR2 is certified with 12.1.2? Some of the notes that I came across, seemed contradictory..
A large client of mine is now considering upgrade to R12.1.x for multiple instances.
    Also, is 11gR2 certified with (a) 11.5.10.C2 (b) 11.5.10.C1
    Thank you
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
Assuming that the "Steven" you're addressing is Steven Chan, you can check his blog for the definitive list of EBS component certifications: http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/certifications.html :-)
Browsing through the list, it appears that RDBMS version 11.2.0.1 is certified for both R12 and 11i. In the case of 11i, the certification is for "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 plus Maintenance Pack 11.5.10.CU2 or later," so an 11.5.10.1 instance will need to be upgraded to at least CU2 first. The certification for R12 is "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 or later" or "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.0.4 or later," so EBS 12.1.2 is covered by that certification.

  • Create RAC on Virtual Nodes

I have to create 2 node RAC db where the 2 nodes are vm's.
    What is the process?
Can I get some references to it please.

    user539083 wrote:
I uderstand that RAC on Vm's where VM's are on the same physical server is not supported?
Is that correct? No, we support RAC regardless of whether the nodes are on the same or different physical hosts. From Metalink ID 464754.1, here are the restrictions for running Real Application Clusters under Oracle VM:
        * Oracle 10.2.0.4 (10gR2) and 11.1.0.7 (11gR1)RAC for Linux x86 and Linux x86_64 certified on Oracle VM
o Guest OS: OEL 5.1 (and above) RHEL 5.1 (and above) for Linux x86 / Linux x86_64
o Paravirtualized (PV) mode only (Guest OS and drivers)
o Only supported on Oracle VM 2.1.2 and above
o Over-committing CPUs is not recommended, but supported with the following restrictions:
+ The total amount of VCPUs allocated to guest domains (running Oracle RAC guests), should not exceed two times (2x)
the amount of real CPUs / cores in the Oracle VM server.
+ The amount of VCPUs allocated to a single guest domain should not exceed the amount of real CPUs / cores in the Oracle VM server.
+ Maintain Oracle VM’s default VCPU allocation for dom-0: Oracle VM will allocate 1 VCPU for each real CPU or core to dom-0.
+ CPU pinning is only recommended for hard partitioning. If no hard partitioning is required, CPU pinning should not be used.
o Static support only (dynamic support is being planned):
+ Dynamic resizing of guest virtual machine is not supported (VCPU, memory and I/O)
+ Live Migration is not supported
+ Virtual Machine Pause/Restore of an active Real Application Cluster virtual machine is not supported. Note that 11gR2 certification is still pending, but expected soon.

    Hi,
My client is planning to upgrade from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 database(AIX 6L). Client having ORACLE 9I AS on different machine and connecting to 10.2.0.2.  I am trying to check the certification details for this. but could not able to.  Any references please?
I gone through MOS certification, but could not find any thing related to this combination.
I am in the way of checking further options as well..

Well, seeing as how AS 10g has been gone since 2009 Oracle Application Server 10g 9.0.4 & 9.0.4.x (Doc ID 295948.1) I'm not sure an older version would be supported.  Now, that's been superseded by an alleged lifetime support policy http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-technology-069183.pdf
but that probably has a funny definition of who's life.

And, here we are on 21 Feb 2012, and you still have not certified Oracle Database 11gR2 (your most recent and up to date version of the database that's currently available!) with Oracle Linux 6!
You think you'll get around to that, any time soon?
    All my love,

    Hi Hans;
    Thanks for answer ;)
Because it is not a certifiaction issue. It is a timing issue, and that is in the hands of the legal department. Support can do absolutely nithing about it, and if they indicate a date, the Support Analyst will likely get fired. Please imagine, let us say my company always prefer to work lastest version of server, oracle products and also OS because of company policy. If I want to use 11gR2 with lastest version there is no problem. Because Oracle suggest to use lastest oracle version because of new futures wiht less bugs. So in my company happy with to use lastes oracle products and my company always want to work oracle linux. Big bosses ask the manager " Why we are still using old OEL 5.x version, there are already new products avaliable at market, If oracle 5.x perfect why they made annoucement new products, If they not certified wiht their other products why they create new OS, is it bad to use *nix 6 instead of 5?
So I wonder thah question and Dont I have a right to get to find some answers from oracle which I pay xxx$million dolar each year for their products and their metalink support.
So if its timing issue and let us say again I am only using windows not any other OS. Why oracle publish same product for different OS? If its timing issue than there are huge difference between annoucement

So must I start by migrating the database first to 10g/11g on aix 5.3 (with it's different patches and pre-requisites)  and then migrate the OS to IBM AIX 6.1 with the right release TL4 SP2.
    Or
I must start by migrating the OS to AIX 6.1 to have every thing running on AIX 6.1 and then migrate the database to 10g/11g and it's different patches and pre-requisites ?
    Thank you for any help.

Do I Have to do the steps :

  • Need information on OAM 11gR2 protecting OIM 11gR2

    Hi All,
I need to implement a solution wherein I have to protect OIM 11gR2 application using OAM 11g2.
So in this case the identity store for OIM is the normal Oracle database and we have used the generic LDAP connector to provision the users to a LDAP directory which is the identity store for OAM.
I have gone through the OIM integration with OAM and it talks about a lot of steps involving extension of the identity store for both OIM and OAM,(Integrating Access Manager and Oracle Identity Manager - 11g Release 2 (11.1.2))
In my case I don't need the features like centralized password management functionality...we only want to protect the OIM application.
So is it possible to enable SSO without
1)Externalizing the identity store of OIM to the LDAP directory which is the identity store for OAM,and hence not running the LDAP sync utility
Also can you please guide me to a document that specifies the steps.
    Thanks

    Hi Thiago,
    Thanks for your replies.
Yes, I followed certification matrix and tried to install 11.1.1.6 only on wlserver 10.3.6.
Can you please eloborate on the below points? Or If there are any urls for detailed steps, please provide them.
    -What you have to do:
+2.1-On Application Server Navigator you can create types of connection:+
    +2.2-Integrated WLS option+
    +2.3-Standalone WLS option+
+2.4-This first option you can install a local standalone WLS 10.3.6 server on your environment, then create a separate "integrated WLS" connection to the standalone server.+
+2.5-Then go to your Application's properties through the Application menu -> Application Properties -> Run -> Bind to Integration Application Server option you can the brand new option created WLS server connection to work with your application.+
+3.0- Don't forget that you need to install the ADF Runtimes for the server to be able to work with ADF applications+

    Hi,
When running BSC Expert in OWB 11gR2 along with 11.2 Database, getting the following error:

    while executing the statement
    OMBIMPORT FROM METADATA_LOCATION FOR IMPORT_ACTION_PLAN 'BSC_C_$G_OBJECTIVE' .
Since I am totally new to OMB+, I have no idea about why this is happening.
Could anyone please give some pointers/solutions for this problem. Because of this issue we are not able to proceed with our certification.
    Thanks,

Looking at the exception, looks like the metadata location for module is not set.
Did you set the metadata location for the module? metadata location is different from data location. metadata location is used for reverse engineer. Please open the module editor, switch to metadata location panel, check if the metedata location is set.

  • Certification status of Oracle 10g server on windows 7

    Hi all,
I'm trying to understand if Oracle 10g server is certified on windows 7, but I have found conflicting informations.
Note 952302.1 "Is Microsoft Windows 7 certified to install/run Oracle Database Server/Client ?" says :
"Microsoft Windows 7" certification will begin with "Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0.x)". That means, Oracle Database 11gR2 will be the first Oracle Database product certified/supported to install/run on "Microsoft Windows 7".
Oracle also planning to certify "10.2.0.5 Client" on Windows 7. Please refer following article for further information
Note 1061272.1 Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Client (10.2.0.5) with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Note 1061272.1 "Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Client (10.2.0.5) with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2" has only informations related to oracle 10g CLIENT.
So far, so good: Oracle clearly says that only oracle 10g client is certified on windows 7...
However, if I look for info in the "certification" tab in Metalink I found conflicting informations. I have build a matrix looking for:
Product: "Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition"
Release / version: All release / Versions
    Platform / Version: "Microsoft Windows (32 bit) > 7"
    Tier: All tiers
And - surprise!- I see that Oracle 10gR2 is in the "Extended Support" status !
The certifications detail says that Oracle 10.2.0.5.0 is required, and that "11gR1 database and client and 10gR2 database certification are not planned for Windows 7" !
    This is really a mess!
Did you found some clearer documentations ?
How can we shed some light on this topic?
    thanks,

  • How to upgrade Forms 11gR2 to use JAVA 7 after it was installed with JAVA 6

I recently installed Forms 11gR2 on a development server.  We are trying to have the latest versions of everything to migrate from Forms 10g and assure we have support for the next few years.
Our platform has the following software configuration:
    Solaris 10 (Update 19) SPARC 64 bits
Weblogic 11g (10.3.6) that was installed with Java JDK 1.6.0_38
Forms 11g R2 (11.1.2.1) that was also installed with
    Java JDK 1.6.0_38
I tried to install Weblogic and Forms using the latest Java 7 JDK (1.7.0_25) but I got an error in the final steps of Forms setup, when I was configuring the domain.  I searched online and found a couple of tips but nothing worked.  The installation was stuck at the
Creating Weblogic Domain step.  So I decided to try the installation process with the Java 6 JDK that we are using right now for Forms 10g, and it worked perfectly.  I have now two options but I don't know which one might be the better path:
Uninstall Weblogic and Forms 11g completely, and try to re-install them again with Java 7, trying to fix the error that I got at the end of the configuration process.
Try to upgrade the current Forms 11g installation from Java 6 to Java 7.  I found a blog that might suggest it is possible, but I don't know if it may cause additional issues along the road. http://pitss.com/us/2013/02/20/how-to-use-java-7-with-oracle-forms-11g-in-an-oracle-supported-environment/
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have, or if any of you has experience installing Forms 11gR2 with Java 7 it might be great to know how to fix this error.  It might be worth mentioning that when I installed Forms and Weblogic with Java 6 I used exactly the same values, ports, options and paths.  The error appears like this in the installation logs and the process hangs there:

Well if I got it to work with java 6 I'd leave it alone, to say the least. The elephant in the room is the certification matrix.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/overview/index.html
there's 2 issues, what jdk does forms on the server want? Bigger question, what JRE is acceptable on the client?
You would surely want the jre to be 7 on the client. Regarding the jdk on the server, you could leave it as is IMHO.
Note that there was a patch to 11gr2. In conclusion, be sure to check the cert matrix regarding what is certified for the jdk for the server.
I think the matrices are saying that if you have forms 11.1.2.1.0 that you can use the jdk 7. but like I said the big issue is what can the client use?
As I read the matrix I think it is saying you have to have 11.1.2.1.0 to use the jre 7 on the client.
So I would say if you have 11.1.2.1.0 on the server you are good because it's not a problem to have the jdk 6 on the server, if not you have to apply the patch in order to enable the jre 7 on the client.
