  • 11i to R12 upgrade and Maintenance Wizard and the Maintenance Wizard Forum

MetaLink doc 215527.1 recommends using the Maintenance Wizard to upgrade from 11i to R12.
The Maintenance Wizard is extolled elsewhere in this Forum to replace the Upgrade Spreadsheet.
And it is referenced a couple times in the 11i forum.
But that's not much press considering Oracle's description below.
Also, all the Maintenance Wizard MetaLink docs below reference a Maintenance Wizard forum.
The forum contains excellent feedback including how to use Maintenance Wizard within a firewall.
    LCM: Maintenance Wizard
But the Maintenance Wizard forum was Archived ~two weeks ago.
Some clarification would sure be useful.
What I'm actually trying to confirm is exactly what OAS or iAS or OC4J to use with it.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
    From 215527.1:
Oracle Support provides Maintenance Wizard to guide you through the upgrade of Oracle Applications technology stack and products from Release 11i versions to Release 12. It draws on instructions from numerous manuals and other documentation to provide you with a complete picture of the activities required for an upgrade.
Maintenance Wizard helps you to reduce upgrade tasks by dynamically filtering the necessary steps based on criteria it obtains from your Applications environment. The resulting report is a set of step-by-step instructions of exactly what you need to do to complete your specific upgrade, including any critical patches that your system may require. It can also automatically execute many of the tasks for you, so as to reduce the possibility of errors or accidental omission of vital tasks.

    FYI,
I am investigating what happened to the Maintenance Wizard forum. I was not alerted or consulted before it was moved to an "archived" location.
I will provide an update here once I find out how to get the situation corrected.
In the meantime, please use the other support channels (this forum, FAQ, iTAR's, etc.) for Maintenance Wizard questions and problems.

PS - To answer Tom's imbedded question (What I'm actually trying to confirm is exactly what OAS or iAS or OC4J to use with it.), please look at the Installation Guide (note 329476.1). In step 2 of the prerequisites, it states:
Maintenance Wizard version 2.x requires Oracle RDBMS 10g (10.2.0) with 10g iAS (10.1.3).
Hope this is what you needed, Tom....

  • 11i to R12 upgrade Doubts

    Hello,
I am currently analyzing 11i(11.5.10.2) to R12(12.1.3) upgrade and need your expert adivce/suggestion on some of the doubts.
    Current EBS architecture:
    2 Node split architecture.
    Node1:- Web Tier
Node2:- CP, Admin and Database Tier.
OS:- Solaris 10 for both nodes.
    DB:- 10.2.0.3
Although we are running only web tier on node 1 but complet application is installed and to maintain consitency we apply patches on both nodes. We want to keep same architecture going forward also.
    My doubts:-
    1) As per upgrade document we have to run ad preperation script after applying patch 7197849 and by default extent size is 128k(for db size upto 100Gb), as we are having db size of 360 GB ..how should we decide on correct extent size? Please pass metalink note id's if you are aware of.
2)How much space is required for laying down R12 filesystem? I believe it should be same as for new installation. Also what will happen to 11i filesystems after upgrade i.e. ias and 8.0.6 oracle home?
3)After upgrade will my user be able to check log and out of requests that ran on 11i prior to upgrade?
    4) Any idea on increase in demand CPU/memory/swap demand after moving to R12? we are upgrading like to like i.e. not adding any new functionality.
5)How much space should be preallocated to various tablespaces prior to running upgrade, we are not having OATM and decided to move on to it after upgrade. If my database is of 350 GB then how much space should be allocated to filesystem prior to growth?
    6) We are having 11i split architecture where Node 1 is having Web tier and node 2 is having CP,admin and db tier. logically we should run rapid install steps along with all the patching on both nodes. Please correct me if i am wrong?
    7) At what point of time do i need to run patches in preinstall mode i.e before applying 7461070 or after it, i believe before. Also is MOS 1448102.1 correct note for deciding on patches to be run in preinstall mode? I believe these patches are not mandatory but recommendation from oracle to pre-captulate.
    8) After applying main upgrade driver patch i.e. 7461070 upgrade document says to 'Apply latest product patches', where can i get idea on patches to applied?
    Thanks,

  • 11i to R12 upgrade

    Hi,
I am doing test upgrade 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1
I am following R12 upgrade guide and 1211 install guide. I finished rapid install step "Creating the Upgrade File System". Now my next step is to perform upgrade (apply upgrade drivers).
It is not clear in the documents and patch readme if I need to apply patches to 11i APPL_TOP or newly created R12 file system. Can somebody help me?
    Thanks.

Which document says I need to apply only database driver? So far I have reviewed upgrade guide Part No. E14010-01.In the Same upgrade guide part NO:E14010-01 check the page no:73 it given as follows:
Under Section 3 "Upgrading to Release 12.1.1"
    10. Run the American English upgrade patch driver (required)
Applies to 11i release level: All
    TUMS step key: N/A
To bring your database to the full Oracle Applications Release 12.1.1 level, use AutoPatch to run the (American English) unified driver (u6678700.drv). It is located in $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver.
Run the driver on the administration server node on your Release 12.1.1 APPL_TOP
    using the following commands:
    $ adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
Do I need to start database in new R12 file system.Yes. All the steps mentioned under Section 3.9 onwards need to perform in the new 12.1 Oracle _home

I just have a small connect about the CP, any reason you are keeping in on the DB node rather than the application tier (Node 1)? Rather than having the application tier filesystem on two nodes, it would be easier to move the CP to Node 1 and have one application tier file system node (assuming you have sufficient resources).

  • 11i to R12 Upgradation(Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1) issue

    Hi,
My Name is Sai, working on OAF.
Recently my code has been migrated from 11i to R12. In 11i my code is working fine.
but in R12 facing the issue that " Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1 "
    for the following query
    SELECT *
    FROM
    (SELECT DISTINCT uf.favorite_name,
    uf.favorite_id
    FROM xxdl.xxdl_sc_user_favorites uf,
    xxdl.xxdl_sc_pta_favorites pf
    WHERE uf.person_id = :1
    AND uf.favorite_id = pf.favorite_id)
    qrslt
    ORDER BY favorite_name ASC
could you please tell me the cause of the issue and how to fix this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sai

    Hi Gourav and Pradeep,
    Thanks for the reply.
    In AM i am setting the bind variable for the person_id using VO.setWhereClauseParam(0,person_id);
But as per the research in R12, In a single query if we are using same bind variable in many places like,
    Select xxdl_sc_com_pkg.GET_LAST_UPDATE_BY('GNS',:1,2,:2) Last_Upd
    ,XXDL_SC_COM_PKG.GET_AS_OF_DATE('GNS',:1,1,:2) hc_as_of_date
    ,XXDL_SC_COM_PKG.GET_AS_OF_DATE('GNS',:1,2,:2) sc_as_of_date
    from dual
in the above query :1 and :2 using 3 places.
the query is working in 11i but in R12 its failing, so i changed the query to
    Select xxdl_sc_com_pkg.GET_LAST_UPDATE_BY('GNS',:1,2,:2) Last_Upd
    ,XXDL_SC_COM_PKG.GET_AS_OF_DATE('GNS',:3,1,:4) hc_as_of_date
    ,XXDL_SC_COM_PKG.GET_AS_OF_DATE('GNS',:5,2,:6) sc_as_of_date
    from dual
In the above query passing different bind variables so
    its working in R12.
To do this kind of process i have to change all the VO objects and corresponding the java code to set where clause params.
Instead of this process, is there any profile option or any Oracle patch available for this change.
    Thanks,
    sai

  • 11i to R12 upgrade preparation and guidance after multiple errors

This seems like a nice place to get some help. The MOS help I have received so far hasn't been so great.
I am trying to figure out how to proceed from where I am right now. Here's what I have:
    Project: 11.5.10.2 upgrade to R12
    1) Successfully installed MW version 2.18 and completed the 1st four steps under the "Configuration" category (I have not yet laid down the R12 code tree)
    - Tried step "1.6-Apply patch 7429271" and it failed:
--- The script being run is "get_from_url_1703_7429271.sh".
--- When running the script manually this error occurs:
    --- "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/support/mw/AruExecutor"
Needless to say it cannot download the patch.
    2) I thought that I might install the LivePatch release 2.19 patch (12728371)
    - I tried to install this patch using the "auto-install" method via "Configuration -> LivePatch" and recieved this error:
--- "The requested URL /pls/EOF/eof_manage_livepatch.main_page was not found on this server".
I think that I can install v2.19 manually if need be.
3a) Moving forward should I apply MW version 2.19 patch manually and try again with step 1.6? Is v 2.19 important at this stage?
3b) I can down download patch 7429271 manually but will further patch downloads fail? Should I insist on getting this issue fixed before continuing?
What is the best path for continuing?
    Thanks, Chaz

**** Maintenance Wizard configuration Information ****
    Protocol = https
Am I going to need to drop the MW schema and start all over or is there some way to change this dynamically?
Another thing that I noticed as part of the HTTPS selection is that it added these lines to these files:
    listener.ora:
    SSL_CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION = FALSE
    WALLET_LOCATION =
    (SOURCE =
    (METHOD = FILE)
    (METHOD_DATA =
    (DIRECTORY = /up2001/R12/10g/102/eof/config/ssl_wallet)
    tnsnames.ora
    (SECURITY=
    (SSL_SERVER_CERT_DN="CN=nwb-chi-tdb01.itciss.com, O=Maintenance Wizard, OU=Development"))
I don't think that they were there when I selected Protocol=HTTP.

  • 11i to R12 Upgrade -  Adoption Rate

Is there any publicly available information on the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12?
The management at my company was told (by an Oracle rep) that the R12 adoption rate is pretty low. Because of this information our management is considering putting our R12 project on hold until next year. I would like to provide them with some real data that they can use as they are making their decision.
It would be helpful to know the following:
1.) Number of new R12 customers
2.) Number of 11i customers who have upgraded to R12
3.) Number of 11i customers who are in the process of upgrading to R12
Please let me know if this information is available.
    Thanks.

There is no publicly available information about the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12 because it is just too many customers to manage and organizations upgrade and go live many times without telling Oracle because the implementation has gone so smoothly.
Having said that, I do track many of our customers who have approval from their management to publicly tell their upgrade story. Here is just a small sample of these customers who have upgraded and gone live on Release 12 and Release 12.1. • Impact of keeping COGS & DCOGS account same in 11i to R12 upgrade

    Hi All,
customer is upgrading from 11.5.10 CU2 to R12.1.3 & we know that Deferred COGS is a new mandatory field in R12.
If we are not populating any value for DCOGS then it defaults to COGS account.
Since this upgrade is AS-IS & customer is trying to minimize the new functionalities, whether we can leave COGS & DCOGS as same account? will there be any costing impact with this?
    With this setup ,
Customer is not going to make use of the functionality of Deferred COGS
As long as customer is OK, are there any other complexities at later stage?
    Please update with your experience.
    Regards
    Raju

  • 11i to R12 upgrade : Unable to merge patch 9179588:R12.AD.B with 9477107:R12.AD.B and patch 7461070:R12.AD.B.1

    Hello Sir,
As per readme for Patch 9179588, I am trying to merge patch (9179588:R12.AD.B) with 9477107:R12.AD.B and R12.AD.B.1
(patch 7461070). When I run admrgpch without -admode option, admrgpch completes successfully.
However, when I just add -admode option in same command, getting error that "invalid option -s". Please see below details and suggest since there is Note: This merge should be a full merge using -admode.
