11i Upgrade Plan

We are upgrading our applications 10.7SC to 11i. Can anyone supply a upgrade project plan that we can use as a sample.

Is there any such plan/template available which we can use to gain knowledge on R12 upgrade strategies and planning?I do not think such template exists in any of the links available for public access.
You might google and see if any docs/links are available -- For example, this link http://www.claremont.co.uk/cmsfiles/claremont/docs/whitepapers/WP_PrototypeCRP.pdf
Thanks,
Hussein

  • I bought years ago CS6 - Design Standard and an expensive MLP New Upgrade Plan in order to upgrade the software after. Can I upgrade to CC, or I simply lost my money?

I bought a license to use Creative Suite 6 - Design Standart almost two years ago. In the same ocasion, I bought a MLP New Upgrade Plan, wich were very expensive, but gave me the wright to upgrade my CS6-Design Standart for new versions within two years. I thoght I made good business, buying an Upgrade Plan that allowed me to have further versions of my software for two years without adicional purchase. What happens is that I can't find a way to upgrade my CS6-Design Standard Suite to a CC Suite. Did I simply threw my money away purchasing the MLP New Upgrade Plan, wich never alowwed me to do any upgrade, or is there a way, fairly, to use my Upgrade Plan that is almost expiring to have access to Creative Cloud?

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • SCOM 2012 R2 Upgrade Plan Discussion

    Dear Experts,
Currently I have a RMS and one MS Server with SCOM 2007 R2 in my Test Environment (Windows 2008 R2).
Now, The Upgradation plan is below and please correct me if I am wrong.
    SCOM 2007 R2 CU4 --> SCOM 2012
    SCOM 2012  --> SCOM 2012 SP1
    SCOM 2012 SP1 --> SCOM 2012 R2.
So we need to purchase of three types of SCOM 2012 versions S/W or else we can simply download those versions from Microsoft ?
Please provide me the complete process of this Migration cycle.
    Saravana Raja

    Hi Saravana:
Upgrading to System Center 2012 – Operations Manager is supported from Operations Manager 2007 R2 CU4, or from the latest available CU. See
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh476934.aspx.
As for upgrading from SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2012 SP1 to SCOM 2012 R2, MVP Marnix Wolf is clear that you need to perform each upgrade step separately:
http://thoughtsonopsmgr.blogspot.com/2013/07/upgrade-paths-to-system-center-2012-r2.html. The "complete process" would consists of performing the upgrade for each version one after the other, again, just as you put in your plan.
You do not need to purchase any additional software, but you will need to download the 3 versions as you described from Microsoft volume license site or other media source.

  • Can Apple offer cheap upgrade plans to people who bought iPad 3rd Gen within 3 months to upgrade their device to the 4th gen?!

I decided to get iPad 3rd gen because my iPad 2 wasn't working so well after using it for 1+ year and I really need iPads for work. I got it not more than 2 months ago. I felt being cheated. Although Apple didn't promise the one year thing, but 7 months is just too ridiculous. .
I know it is impossible to ask Apple to replace our 3rd gen with 4th gen, but if they offer some upgrade plans, I would be more comfortable with this. If so, I hope that they wouldn't charge more than USD $150 to upgrade.
Trading in old devices is important to me because I have no income as a student but I just have to get newer devices to make sure they have a higher performance. Dissolving the iPad 3rd gen is not a good idea since the resell value will decrease instantly.
Other than that, my iPad is a bit laggy comparing to what I felt when it was on iOS 5, they shouldn't make a new device to solve this problem, they should improve their software
In the incident, Apple is just being irresponsible to long term supporters like me, I hope that they will provide us satisfying solutions.
(My English might not be perfect because my native language is Chinese, hope you guys know what I mean)

You can check macrumors, there were rumors and they were pretty much squashed the begininng of October, so waiting a month, sure. Usually mac is transpereant enough that its knwn 3-4 months ahead of time that a refresh is coming, I site the release of th Ipad 2 gen i was getting for my daughter, we waited until her bday and got it in March at launch. Not this time. This was a curve ball, ezpecially 4 months ago when I bought mine. I have called Apple everyday, wil call again today to vent frustration, and I am noticing some slowed response on my ipad 3 and would assume why the fast refresh, i have been asking for a path to upgrade for $100 with a well tken care of ipad 3, under apple care etc. Don't know if I will get it, but wont get it for sure if I dont ask. I already was issued a $100 credit on another purchase, which I may be using soon.

  • 10.7 to 11i Upgrade Horror Stories?

I am interested in hearing any horror stories re: 10.7 to 11i upgrade on SUN. How long to upgrade a 400Gb db (PA alone is 95Gb and AP is 90Gb)? my E10K has 12 cpus and 6Gb of memory. Any ideas?

We have several situations on the go for upgrades. THe main problem is that the process is not optimised at all. You need to see which processes take the time (depending on the volume of data in each table) and look at how to optimise. We have an OPM situation where one process went from 20 hours to 2 hours by making some simple performance changes. I believe that when the developers create the migration process they work with a very small number of records so the timing issues are not as obvious. Also look at getting 11.5.3. at this point to avoid the process of 11.5.2 to 11.5.3.

  • What happens to volume customers with upgrade plans?

We're a nonprofit TLP customer with a few dozen licenses for the Creative Suite, InDesign standalone, stuff like that. When we buy new licenses, we always buy the upgrade plan. And we keep those upgrade plans current - management loves the fact that we can predict costs for Adobe software two years ahead.
    Linked PDF says:
Make your software budget more predictable
Predicting timelines and prices for upgrades of your current software licenses can be challenging, but budgeting for Adobe upgrades doesn’t have to be. By investing in Upgrade Plan, your organization can lock in a set price for all future upgrade licenses that are released during the length of your Upgrade Plan coverage period.* This takes the guesswork out of software budgeting and buys you tomorrow’s software at today’s prices. For a percentage of the license cost, your organization gets access to the latest Adobe products, which streamlines software management and stabilizes budget forecasts. In addition, Upgrade Plan costs can be paid up front or through annual payments, allowing flexibility in the purchasing process.
I've not been able to find any information about what happens to our upgrade plan. (And when I called Adobe CS, I was disconnected after 70 minutes on hold. And when I tried CS chat, they told me to call in.) Has anything been posted or said about institutions with upgrade plan coverage?

Actually, Jeff, I wound up coming here and posting this as a result of my conversation with my sales rep. I have also already contacted Adobe Volume CS and found some answers - answers that were, notably, nowhere in the FAQ.
To be honest, I'd come back here to mark Arjit's response as "helpful" as that is obviously what he was trying to be. I can also see why his answer could be marked as correct, as this question should (his term) be covered in the FAQ, although it is not.  However, your answer is also correct - there is no one global answer for all AVL customers still covered by an Upgrade Plan, and that each volume customer will need to contact the Adobe Volume Licensing Team.
Seeing as random internet people have been emailing me out of the blue for years with difficult questions on the strength of an answer marked as "correct" on these forums, I wanted to ensure that none of the AVL customers who were searching for answers found this conversation with a search, and then went and read the entire FAQ over and over again without finding any answers, as I did.

  • 11i upgrade(11.5.3 11.5.8) using rapid and cloning.

    Hi all,
Has anybody done this kind of an upgrade...?
    (11i upgrade(from 11.5.3 > 11.5.8) using rapid and cloning).
I would like to use rapid install to install 11.5.8 base and then i would like to clone the current instance to the newly installed 11.5.8 instance and if needed apply the 11.5.8 maintenance pack.
If anybody done like this, please provide me the step by step procedure.I am cofused whether i need to apply 11.5.8 maintanance pack after cloning to 11.5.8 or not?

    Hi yehuda,
    Thanks for your reply....
I installed 11.5.8 on both tiers and removed the default database and restored production DB and upgrade it to 8.1.7.4.But now the sysadmin and jtflogins are not working... it seemd like DB configuration parameters are still pointing to production.
So how you clone the database from old version to the new one and upgraded...... please let me know... i already cloned and upgraded it.. but i do have connection issues....
Beside that I also found the new 11.5.8 database instances has around 360 tablespace where as 11.5.3 has only around 290,probably according to the modules i selected... so that's not an issue.. but how can i resolve sysadmin and jtflogin errors using old database(which is now upgraded to 8.1.7.4)
    thanks
    Suju

  • Is there an upgrade plan from 3G till 3Gs?

I bought my iphone 1 year ago here in Sweden. There is no info yet about the 3GS phone on their site, but what is the general upgrade plan? Do I have to return my old phone to get the new one? Or can an I give my phone to someone else who can use it with their own chip while I use my new phone with my own contract? How does this work?

The link was only to give you an idea on options available here. In brief they are:
Option 1 - wait until eligible for an upgrade.
Option 2 - purchase the iPhone 3G S on Pay & Go from 19 June.
Option 3 - pay the remainder of their monthly line rental in one payment and sign a new Pay Monthly contract.
    Makes you sick, done it?

  • Adobe shutting out TLP customers from Upgrade Plan

I am a network administrator for a small company of about 10 million dollars per year.  We have a copy of Adobe CS6, InDesign and 12 licenses of Adobe Acrobat.  For the last 6 or so years we have purchased the Upgrade Plan though the Transactional Licence Program for the Creative Suite and InDesign.  I am mystified why Adobe is now shutting out smaller customers like use from being able to subscribe to the upgrade plan?
The changes in licensing over the last 6 or so months have been very negative for us.  We feel like we are being forced into buying upgrades instead of being able to be on a predictable upgrade plan.  I hate to say it, but Adobe's licensing is now worse than Microsoft's.  At least MS is willing to offer any company Software Assurance at any level.
We also use QuarkXpress in additon to InDesign.  I guess I will need to start pushing that we use Quark instead of Adobe.
I hate to be bitter, but this really leaves me feeling screwed by Adobe.

They also stated the "new" features being released on the Cloud would be released to all users in the next full release. However now there is no next release for perpetual license holders other than the cloud going forward. This is blatant misinformation as well, information they no doubt knew but withheld to ensure further sales of CS6 in the meantime. Very shady practices on Adobe's part, many efforts seem to be made to boost sales of CS6 even when they knew what was happening behind the scenes with their decisions that are now detrimental to many customers going forward.

  • Is this seriously the new upgrade plan??

    http://www.androidcentral.com/verizon-changing-its-upgrade-policy-youll-have-wait-20-months-new-phone
if this is the new upgrade plan for users it is absolutely ridiculous. as someone who likes to upgrade to a new phone every year, and therefore renew my contract every year, this makes zero sense. why would vzw want to prevent me from buying the newest device if i choose? i know my phone is going to be obsolete within a year anyways.
AND getting rid of the new every two?? what's that about? wasn't that a good way to keep customers upgrading and therefore paying the monthly subscription fees? getting rid of it is a good way to **bleep** off customers who have be loyal for so long.

    SydneyK wrote:
Oh, wow, I didn't see this one coming. Thanks for posting.
The annual upgrade was the only reason I'd even consider a two-year contract. Not because I couldn't use the same phone for 20 months, but because of the one-year manufacturer's warranty. If you don't want to throw away money on insurance, at least you could upgrade after the warranty ended if something happened to your phone.
This confirms my belief in paying the extra $70 for a one-year contract, like Spiral said.
    (LOL at the positive spin.)
We have to wait and see if the $70 differencial remains or grows larger......
I wanted a frown wink but there is not one
