11i upgrade - Step: Apply latest product patches (required)
Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading 11.5.9 (DB 9.2.0.4) to 12.1.1 (DB 10.2.0.5).
As part of the upgrade steps in document titled *"Oracle® E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide Release 11i to 12.1.1 Part No. / E16342-04 / August 2010"*, I was directed to apply the latest product patche. Chapter 3, section 5.
I downloaded the latest copy of the patchsets.sh from Oracle and ran it with the following parameters:
patchsets.sh connect=apps/<apps_password> available=metalink
This tool generated a bunch of reports including one called "Report.txt" and "Report_R12.txt"
Which one of these patches am I supposed to download and apply to be able to continue with the upgrade?
An excerpt From "Report.txt":

R12.1.1 - Step 12 - Apply latest product patches
DB: 11.2.0.3
OS: Linux x86
I am upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and am trying to understand what is needed for step 12, page 3-5 of the R12 upgrade document (Part No. E16342-04), "Apply latest product patches".
I have searched around and there seem to be multiple methods, all of which seem a bit ambiguous.
I have downloaded and run the patchsets.sh script. Can I use that to get an answer for this step?
Thanks, Chazuser11988333 wrote:

MathiasHi,
1) Is there a script that I can execute to find out exactly which are the installed products on our system so as to select the right products from the 'Product or Product Family'?How to Establish if a Product is Installed in e-Business Suite 11i [ID 420648.1]
2) I have installed 12.1.1 and I believe I have to upgrade to 12.1.3 but with the dozens of documentations around the upgrade it is just so difficult to pinpoint exactly which way to move forward with. For example I have lead to
Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme [ID 1080973.1] and I am wondering if I should follow the guidlines in this document?You will need to follow all the documents listed in

MW R12 - key upgrade steps clarification
OS: RHEL4 x86
DB: 11.2.0.3
EBS Upgrade: 11.5.10.2 -> R12.1.1
MW: 2.20
<-> Process Step: Upg to Rel 12.1.1
<---> Product Family: Perform the Upgrade
<-----> Task: Apply Preinstall Patches
<------->Step 1-Check for critical pre-upgrade patches for Financials
I am on my 2nd upgrade. With the first upgrade I had lots of problems with this step since it refers to an MOS note that has lots of information and refers to other MOS notes and it isn't clear what steps in those notes is duplicated within the MW steps.
The first time I did some things in the wrong order since there was no clear direction between the MW steps and all of the notes.
Is there anything that can help clarify how to correctly proceed through this task and the next task, Perform the Upgrade, which are so critical?
Thanks!It would be really nice to have the exact steps spelled out in detail since this is too crucial to have it be vague and not well understood.
Here's how the MW explains it.
- Process Step: Upg to Rel 12.1.1
--- Product Family: Perform the Upgrade
1) Apply pre-install patches
----- Task: Apply Preinstall Patches
-------- Step 1-Check for critical pre-upgrade patches for Financials (Required)
I think that I understand this section except that I don't know whether patch 7303029 should be applied in this step or not.
2) Apply DBA CUP and related patches
----- Task: Perform the Upgrade
-------- Step 9: Apply DBA CUP and related patches
This is basic and understood.
3) Step 9.1:Apply patch 7303029
Here's what the MW says for the "setup" section:
"This step will download patch 7303029. It will also verify that the u67780700.drv driver is in the correct location and ready to be merged."
Here's what it says for the "execute" section:
cd $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver
admrgpch -d . -preinstall -master u6678700.drv
Neither of these steps actually applies patch 7303029 in pre-install mode but I am under the impression that this needed to be done at some point.
So, please provide the exact steps needed to get this done correctly.
Thanks -
Hi,
I need to apply latest FSG patches. for that i refered to doc. ID 549289.1. My doubt are all these patches cummulative or i need to apply one by one from bottom. ( I only have two of the patches listed in the document with XML). So shoud i apply from old one to the latest one or just the latest one is enough?
I have licensed XDO (XML publisher) and the PASTA version is 3.0.4
Appl: 11.5.10.2
RegardsHi,
Not all the patches are cumulative.
What are the patches you have already applied?
From the "Patch & Update" table, when you search for the patch it should say if it is included in other patch/patchset or not.
Thanks,
Hussein -
Category 3 Upgrade Steps for Rel 11i
Upgrading Oracle Applications Rel 11i manual page 4-2 lists three upgrade steps for Oracle Common Modules.
Step 1: Delete all AK data for Production 16 Global Demo databases (conditionally required)
Step 2: Check for invalid AK data in non-Global Demo databases (condionally required)
Step 3: Fix invalid data in non-Global Demo databases (conditionally required)
My Questions:
1. What is AK data?
2. What is the difference between a Global Demo database and a non-Global Demo database?
3. Does the AutoUpgrade utility migrate the data from the Global Demo and non-Global Demo databases to the Vision database?

Which patchsets to apply before 11.03 - 11i upgrade?
What is the best way to find out which patchsets I need to apply before beginning the upgrade from 11.03 to 11i? We are running Government Financials and we are only on patchset D for most modules including FND. I am fairly new to apps and am getting very frustrated trying to determine how to get this information. It is my understanding that the patchset levels need to match up and you can't go a lot higher on one module without patching the others... additionally we do have several bugs especially in Purchasing.

Ensure that you have the most recently updated patch list by consulting http://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support). Search for the knowledge document 1004881.1 - Live Upgrade Software Patch Requirements (formerly 206844) on My Oracle Support.
The patches listed in knowledge document 1004881.1 - Live Upgrade Software Patch Requirements (formerly 206844) on My Oracle Support are subject to change at any time. These patches potentially fix defects in Live Upgrade, as well as fix defects in components that Live Upgrade depends on. If you experience any difficulties with Live Upgrade, please check and make sure that you have the latest Live Upgrade patches installed.
If you are running the Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 OS, you might not be able to run the Live Upgrade installer. These releases do not contain the set of patches needed to run the Java 2 runtime environment. You must have the recommended patch cluster for the Java 2 runtime environment recommended to run the Live Upgrade installer and install the packages. To install the Live Upgrade packages, use the pkgadd command. Or install, for the Java 2 runtime environment, the recommended patch cluster. The patch cluster is available on http://support.oracle.com (My Oracle Support).

Latest PeopleTools patch for the next PeopleTools only upgrade
Hi All,
Is it mandatory to be in the latest PeopleTools patch for the next PeopleTools only upgrade?
For eaxmple, I am in PT8.50 and I plan to upgarde to PT8.51. Is it mandatory to apply the latest patch(PT 8.50.14 Product Patch) before the PeopleTool upgrade?
Thanks
SoundappanWhether it is not mandatory to be on the latest Peopletools patch for a Peopletools version upgrade, you should be on the least recommanded one if any. It is maybe playing on words, but hope you see the difference.
It is well explained in the following pdf, page 16 :

Hi there, I have an older version of 10.5.8. What is the next step to upgrade to the latest version of 10.9 Maverick?
Thanks in AdvanceIf yours is a PPC iMac (G4 or G5) you cannot upgrade further.
If it is an Intel iMac:
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
(NB: PowerPC applications can still be run in Snow Leopard using Rosetta, but they will not work in later versions of OS X.)
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
You can now upgrade to Mavericks OS 10.9 for free IF you have one of the following Macs, with not less than 2GB of RAM, and at least 8GB of available space on your hard drive:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later), (15-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later), (17-inch, Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac Mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)
iCloud system requirements:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4759
If you cannot run Mavericks you can purchase the code to use to download Lion from the App Store (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard):
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
or Mountain Lion:

Hi Friends,
I am in the process of upgrading Oracle Applications 11.0.3 (Vision instance) to 11.5.3 and have successfully reached till Category 4. AutoUpgrade ran successfully. Per upgrade manual of 11.5.3 (Page 5-2), before using Oracle Applications products apply d110_to_1153.drv patch. I am applying this patch via adpatch of the new APPL_TOP (the one created after running Rapid install) but autopatch gives error: The sequence AD_SESSIONS_S does not exist in the database. Failed to get identifier for the session.
Has anyone encountered such a problem, if so please share your solution.
Thanks,
Rajesh GuptaWhat you need to do is look in $AD_TOP/patch/115/odf for the odffile which creates this sequence and then run adodfcmp to create it. Believe me you will come across many more of these type of things and I suggest you get familar with adodfcmp, FNDLOAD and FNDSLOAD.

# Disable system triggers for the duration of the maintenance
# operation.
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED=FALSE
IMPORTANT: 이 parameter는 위의 작업이 끝난후 true 로 다시 설정시에는 comment처리 하세요.(default 가 true 입니다.)
Oracle9i
~~~~~~~~
Oracle9i 에서는 필요시 SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED를 false로 dynamically setting 이 가능하다.
ALTER SYSTEM SET "_system_trig_enabled"=FALSE;
ALTER SYSTEM SET "_system_trig_enabled"=TRUE;
SPFILE이 아닌 경우에는 oracle 8i와 동일하게 setting 하면 된다.
Oracle8.0 / Oracle7
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED parameter 는 oracle 8.0 이전 version에는 존재하지 않는다.
Explanation
~~~~~~~~~~~
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED 란 무엇인가 ?
System trigger는 Oracle 8.1의 new feature다.
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED를 TRUE (the default)로 setting 하면 system triggers가 enable 된다.
이값이 FALSE라면 system trigger 를 stop 한다
False 로 setting 하는 이유?
trigger에 의존하는 object가 invalid나 drop될수있는 dictionary 작업의 script가 실행되는 경우 해당
trigger는 fail이되고 이 script는 정상적으로 실행이 안되게 된다.
다음의 몇몇 예를 보자.
Example Problem Scenarios
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dictionary maintenance operations를 수행중에 system triggers들이 있다면 많은 문제들이 있을수 있다.
가장 일반적인 경우를 다음에 설명 했다.
After running "rmjvm"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
만일 JIS install 되어 있고 "rmjvm" 를 사용하여 java를 deinstall 하고
후속적인 조치로 "DROP a ROLE "을 시도할때 error 가 날것이다.
이것은 <Bug:1751857> 와 관련있으며 "rmjvm" 은 모든 java와 관련한 objects drop을 할수 없다.
eg:
SVRMGR> drop role a;
drop role a
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-29540: class oracle/aurora/mts/http/security/RdbmsHttpPolicy does nt
ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTTP_SECURITY_CASCADE", line 0
ORA-06512: at line 3
Running CATALOG / CATPROC
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
eg:
SVRMGR> drop public synonym dba_segments;
ORA-4098: trigger 'SYS.JIS$ROLE_TRIGGER$' is invalid and failed re-valin
8.0에서 upgrading 이나 7.3 에서 migrating 할때.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
만일 SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED이 FALSE로 setting 되어 있지 않으면
package STANDARD에서 ORA-604 , ORA-6553 , PLS-213 를 일으키는 <Bug:1362374>를 만나게 될것이다.
이는 Oracle8i/9i에서 db open시에 error 를 일으킨다.
만일 ODMA (Database Migration Assistant)를 사용하여 Oracle7 or 8.0 로 부터 upgrade 한다면
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED를 setting 하는 것은 불가능 하다.
ODMA를 사용하여 성공적으로 upgrade / migration 가 가능한지 확인하고 그렇지 않다면 parameter 를 false 로 setting 후에
수동으로 upgrade / migration을 하도록 한다.
Oracle9i로 Upgrading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SYSTEMTRIG_ENABLED를 FALSE로 setting 하지 않으면 Oracle9i에서 db open시
ORA-600 [16201] errors를 만날수 있다 <Bug:1747065>

<Note:149948.1> <Note:68636.1>Helios,
Looks like I should not apply this patch, it assume the version of 11.2.0.2, I am on 11.2.0.1.
What took me off a little was this statement me in the BUG:12317756 - DBCONSOLE PERFORMANCE PAGE NO LONGER DISPLAYS ON LINUX
"it used to work in previous versions including 11.2.0.1"
and this is not true for me - I have 11.2.0.1. and it is not working - the graph can not be displayed.
So I guess I am back to the original question I was asking about in my other post. Let me see if other 2 Notes you provided will take me to any other patch
Thank you
Anatoliy
