12.0.2 update for Photoshop CS5: Installation failed

The Adobe Application Manager kicks off every day now and tells me there is an update for CS5. It downloads the update and then promptly says"Installation Failed".  There is no more information.
I tried running Update from CS5 itself but it just launches Application Manager, again downloads and again gives this message.
There is no information about what failed or why.
I have an i7 processor, over 900GB free on the drive with CS5 and 12GB of RAM.  No adobe products are running other than all the background updater stuff they insist on running.
What can I do?  I have no idea how to proceed.  Google provides no hints other than similar issues with version 11 two years ago where Adobe support states they are going to provide more information on what failed in future versions (I guess maybe version 13?)

Rant much?
I never said its not a big issue, but I was not the one calling for adobe to fire people. I posted a reply to Safari Dave and was not even addressing you or your issue.
First I would love to point out this is a "USERS" forum. Most everyone here is a user not adobe staff, they come to try to help people like you with issues simply because they are good people who like to help others.
Biggest issues "support" has with software "users" are people like you.
Absolutly no understanding.
You rant that things do not work and are very short tempered about it.
Most of the time resistent to provide accurate and complete information and unwilling to take the steps they recommend.
People think they (support people) should just know exactly how to fix what is broken. and thats as rediculous as going to the doctor and saying fix me then complaining when he does not know what is wrong.
take a chill pill.

The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.

The Adobe auto updater is highly unreliable.
You need to look for and download the update yourself and then manually apply it as per the detailed instructions on the download page:

Please note that the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in must be updated separately, after you have updated Photoshop:

  • Updates for PS CS5 keep failing, have tried several times but no luck

I've just installed Photoshop CS5 on my laptop, running Windows Vista SP2.  When trying to update the software, i keep getting a download error:
    Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
I'm not that tech savvy when it comes to analyzing log files to see what the error is (that was Adobe's suggestion!) so can't go down that route.
I've tried several times via the programme, and also via the Adobe download website, but still get the same errors.  I'm also unable to update the programe on my PC running Windows 7.  I realise that Adobe want everyone to update to CC, but I cant afford to do that!  Anybody got any solutions?

Please clean AAM cache By deleting following folder contents:
    For Mac:
    ·        /Volumes/%Volume Name%/Users/%Username%/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0
    For Win:
    ·        C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0
    Then try running Updates.

  • Can't find updates for Photoshop CS5 *Extended*

    Hi,
I'm checking for updates to Photoshop CS5 *Extended* and only find regular CS5 updates.  Do they work on Extended?  Without removing the "Extended" aspects?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Do they work on Extended?  Without removing the "Extended" aspects?
    In other words, YES.
Is something wrong with the auto updater or Help - Updates from the Photoshop menu?

  • Update for photoshop cs5 not working, deletes files before installl happens

My computer crashed, so I rebuilt it.  I installed photoshop CS5 with no errors.  I go to update it and it downloads without any problems.  Then when it goes to install it errors out.  I found that just as one part of the update is 100% downloaded, it is deleted.  And this happens for each and every part of the update, so when it goes to install the updates, there is no files to do that with.

I went to that web site and downloaded those files.  And what happens?  Most of the files extract without any problem, but the one that errror out on every single one I downloaded was the AdobepatchInstaller.exe.  I have 2 computer and tried it on both computers and both said the same thing.  When it does extract it, it says it is corrept.  So now how is that my computers fault????

  • Error window when installing update for photoshop CS5 (I own photoshop PS6)

I haven't updated Photoshop since I purchased PS 6 in 2012. Now I am unable to get & install updates for PS5. Adobe product expert advised me to go to FORUM!

Not Helpful - but Thank you for trying!!
    1) Yes I have Photoshop CS6 & Adobe Bridge CS6 installed, since 2012
    2) Yes they work, but Bridge, Edit in Camera Raw is missing at least one(1) function
in LENS CORRECTION. This is the impetus for installing the updates, and how I                     discovered Photoshop & Bridge are missing a CS5 up grade.
    3) I installed "Adobe -Photoshop : For Mac : Adobe Photoshop 13.0.6 ( which I am
operating with NOW) and this window popped up:

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 "Installer failed to initialize"

    Hey!
So i Just downloaded CS5, I Open the .dmg and then i click on the install and i get a message which says "Installer failed to initialize".
According to the support app this is the reason:

I have tried Rebooting and closing all applications but i cant get it to work.
I shall hasten to add that the first time i ever opened it up it worked but i had to cancel while it was installing.

  • Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5 fails

I've been trying for several days to update CS5. I ended up uninstalling the entire suite and reinstalling only Photoshop as my memory was fairly full. However I now have adequate memory but am still unable to perform the latest update. It runs to 100% and then says "Error downloading. Please try again later".
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

First do this from an Administrator account, or alter your account to administer your computer.
I can suggest an uninstall (using the uninstaller in the CS5 folder)  Check "remove preferences")
Then use the Cleaner tool in Step 3. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Reinstall CS5.
Download the 12.0.4 update from here Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh
    And run that update again.

  • Having trouble opening camera raw files. Already downloaded Camera Raw Update for Photoshop CS5. I have a pc.

Please Help? Having trouble opening camera raw files. Already downloaded Camera Raw update. I have a pc.

If the camera is fairly new then the version of ACR you have with CS5 won't be able to read those file. You'll need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop or use Lightroom 5.
Once a new version of Photoshop comes out Adobe does not support updating ACR from the older version of PS.

  • Updates for photoshop will not work/wont open raw images

I have tried to update my photoshop and numerous times to open raw images in photoshop and it wont work, everytime i try to do it the installation fails and doesnt explain why and example is :
      Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.4 Update
      Installation failed
      Adobe Device Central CS5.0.1
      Installation failed
Photoshop 12.0.2 update for Photoshop CS5
      Installation failed
      Photoshop Camera Raw 6.3 Update
      Installation failed
    can anyone help?

Might be helpful if there are any more specific messages being shown to list them.
Just passing on what I've read:  Some people using PCs have reported that removing Photoshop, reinstalling from their original media, then updating to the very latest works where they haven't been able to get the software updated via the integrated process.  I don't know whether this applies to Mac, but it could represent something to try if you run out of options.
But before trying that, have you tried doing a manual installation of the latest updates?  You can download the appropriate one(s) directly from the following:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Macintosh
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows

    Hello Vineet,
I did a complete uninstall (including the CS5 Clean Tool) and reinstalled MC CS5.  I ran the updater and everything seems to have updated properly.  Thanks for your help.  I was holding off on the reinstall because of the time involved with reconfiguring the apps, reinstalling plugins, etc.
Looking at the installer log, there appears to be some permissions related entries that were not present in logs of the failed installs.  Here is the relevant section of the log.

there is no such thing. Camera Raw is specific to certain versions of PS. 8.x will never work in CS5. you need to update your software or settle on using the DNG converter.

  • Failed installation: How to rerun Adobe Application Manager updates for Photoshop CS6

    Hi.
The installation of  Adobe Extension Manager CS6 failed - while 2 others update for Photoshop CS6 did intall. I was installing Adobe Reader X .
That's why I discovered the notication from the application manager about updates for CS6 - and I just confirmed that as well.
Apparently the Reader installation blocked only the update installation of Adobe Extension Manager CS6 - saying another installation process was running ... such stuff happens sometimes.
However, it seems Adobes Application Manager update module does not track its failed installations? It does not automatically advertise that update has not been installed and notifiying me again to install it. At least not immediately ...
So how do I rerun the Adobe Application Manager update moduel to check for updates manually?

    You go Photoshop CS6 > Help > Updates ...
