12.1.3 NLS Help Patches

Hi,
After upgrading from 11.5.9.2 to 12.1.3, we are applying 12.1.3 online help patch 9239095.
Where can we find the NLS help patches? Can we merge the nls help patch with generic help patch?
Thanks,
Kavitha

  • Need help patching a kernel to use new ALSA

I have a friend who's just starting out with Arch, and I've been getting him started on his install. His system uses a Biostar 6100-939 motherboard and an Athlon64 processor.
Everything has been working so far except sound. According to documentation, the correct ALSA driver for his nForce4 chipset should be the snd_intel8x0 module. However, loading this module didn't make any soundcards available to alsamixer.
We started to investigate the problem, and recently found this: http://jrbelvin.freeshell.org/weblog/linux/mcp51-alsa stating that the problem is fixed with the 1.0.11rc3 release of ALSA. We also found this : http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=60493 covering the same issue. We tried applying the patch listed in that forum to a build of the ArchCK kernel. While we were able to confirm that our patch really did patch the kernel, and that the patched kernel built, the snd_intel8x0 module still didn't work when we loaded our patched kernel.
So now it seems like we'll have to properly use the 1.0.11rc3 release of ALSA to get sound working on his computer until 1.0.11 is finalized and merged into the kernel. Does anyone have any experience on patching a kernel to use a different release of ALSA? Any help would be appreciated.
    Woogie

I had the same problem with my new computer (less than a week old) using an ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 board. For me the problem stopped when I switched to the 2.6.16 kernel then in testing but now in current. If it's not working with that kernel try modprobing snd-intel8x0 by hand and running alsaconf.
I actually made packages of alsa-lib and alsa-driver 1.0.11rc4 for myself in the process, but I've switched away from those again, so I don't think they should be needed for NF4/MCP51 to work. That said if your problem doesn't go away I'll be happy to post the PKGBUILDs I modified or even send the packages themselves (with absolutely no guarantees).

  • Can any body help patches applying through powershell?

    Hi,
Is there any posibility to apply patches automatically on servers by using powershell?
In my Environment having vbscript is using for applying patches to servers with notification E-Mail to respective DL.
I'm planing to change script language from VBscript to Powershell.
anybody have any idea about this?

We are not installing patches through WSUS. In share path all the patches will be placed and that share path will be mapped to respective server. some VBscript files are there that are interlinked with .bat file once runs the .bat file automatically files
should be download to respective server then automatically installed patches and reboot will happen after that get a mail notification to respective DL.
This is procedure happening in my environment. My plan is to change VBScript to Powershell.

  • Help patching a kernel

    I've read the three wikis:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ker … _Patchsets
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cus … n_with_ABS
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ker … n_with_ABS
and am still pretty lost as to what I have to do or which way is best. At the moment, I'm looking at the fallen patchset because of gensplash and suspend2. I'm just not sure where to start and if I could save my old kernel just in case I decide to go back.

Sorry for the stupid mistake and for one (hopefully) last question. Torwards the end I get

Go into Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. What is selected there as the preferred device (for playback, and recording)? Which options do you have?
In the right hand corner you should have a little icon that looks like a little loudspeaker. If you open that, you should see your mixer settings. If you go to Options> Properties, you should be able to check the recording settings.

  • I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and trying to install a purchased copy of Lion 10.7, to no avail. Apple Support doesn't seem to have a solution - help?

I purchased Lion 10.7 on Christmas Day, I received my redemption code a week later. I've tried to download Lion to no avail. I've been in contact with Apple Support and they haven't been much help so far. My computer is currently running Snow Leopart 10.6.8 - however, I received Photoshop Elements for Christmas and I need at least 10.7 in order to run the program. Nothing is working. Before commenting - I CANNOT install Mavericks because it'll mess up the versions of Filemaker Pro and Quicken that I use regularly. I tried installing Mountain Lion, at the suggestion of Apple Support but I need to be running at least 10.8 in order to install that. What do I do? I don't want to have to be pushed into buying another computer when this one works just fine - but I'd like to be able to run Photoshop Elements. Apple has charged my credit card for the purchase of Lion and yet it won't install and I don't know what to do now.

Quicken 2007 for Intel (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks) for $15:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
It will input your Quicken PPC data file directly if it was Quicken 2005 through 2007.  If older you need Quicken 2006 or 2007 PPC first to convert your data file; and this update must be done BEFORE you upgrade to Mavericks:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/patching/quicken-2006-manual-updates--mac -/GEN82200.html
Filemaker Pro PPC (in this case 7) running in Snow Leopard Server installed into Parallels for use in Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks:
Snow Leopard Server: 1.800.MYAPPLE (1.800.692.7753) - Apple Part Number: MC588Z/A (telephone orders only)
This solution allows you to run your Photoshop Elements in Mavericks concurrently with Filemaker Pro PPC.  Mavericks is a free download.

  • Need help with opatch for OBIEE 11g

I'm running into some more of Oracle's typical gibberish and poorly written documentation, and need some help patching OBIEE 11g.
I'm TRYING to follow the instructions here:
    https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download?type=readme&aru=13160647
So, let's see. How about step 2:
For FMW Opatch usage, please refer the doc at :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fmw_opatch.htm
Well, that IP address automatically redirects to the general download page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html
    Nice.
    So, let's try this doc:
    http://docs.tpu.ru/docs/oracle/en/owl/E14571_01/doc.1111/e16793/opatch.htm#CBHDEGBJ
Section 2.3.2, "Patching a Fusion Middleware Product"
Quoting: "Once you obtain the patch, determine the Oracle home directory to which you are going to apply the patch....If you do not know the name of your Oracle home, you should run the opatch lshomes command as described in Section 2.4.6, "Listing the Applicable Oracle Homes for a Patch" to obtain a list of Oracle homes that pertain to the domain."
So let's see, I've got two OPATCH.BAT files, one in c:\mw_home1\Oracle_BI1=OPatch\, and the other in c:\mw_home1\oracle_common\OPatch\.
I open a command window, CD to one of those paths, and run opatch lshomes. I get this error:
"The Oracle Home C:\mw_home1 is not OUI based home. Please give proper Oracle Home. OPatch returns with error code = 1. OPatch failed with error code = 1"
Same results for the other opatch.bat in the other directory.
Besides the atrocious grammar, this error message is not helpful in the least. I'm trying to patch OBIEE 11g, which is installed in c:\mw_home1. What else is opatch wanting?

Yes, the error message is misleading. It should say something like "Environment variable ORALCE_HOME has not been set or set incorrectly".
Here is how I solved the problem on a Windows Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA installation. The SOA installation already comes with OPatch installed. In my case it is located in D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1\OPatch. On a command prompt, I set the environment variable ORACLE_HOME like this
    set ORACLE_HOME=D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1
and the CLASSPATH variable like this
    set classpath=
The latter prevents opatch from loading classes it does not need and throwing java.lang.ClassNotFoundException. Also notice ORACLE_HOME does not point to D:\Oracle\Middleware but D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1. I made a mistake by setting ORACLE_HOME to D:\Oracle\Middleware kept getting:
"Recommended actions: Please make sure no other OPatch or OUI processes is running. Try to run $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstsaller.
OPatch failed with error code = 20"
I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong.

  • Install a new NLS on Oracle 12.0.4

    Hi all,
I want to install a new NLS on my Oracle 12.0.4 installation. But I don't know exactly what to do.
I followed the steps from the Oracle Applications Maintenance Procedures manual.
    I did step 1,2, and 4.
I skipped step 3 because I found that in Note 402310.1
Step 5 says that you could be notified that there is a Translation Synchronization Patch available. Can I find that in the log?
Afther those steps I used adpatch to apply the NLS language patch I downloaded from edelivery. And that gave a lot of errors:
    AutoPatch error:
File in pathc is not a know Oracle Applicatiosn file:
    'zx reports/NL ZXXVATRV.rdf'
I also get the same errros for frm files.
What did go wrong? And did I do the correct steps to install a new NLS?
