12.22.2009 - BIS/BBM/Email Outage

Just curious if anyone has heard any updates on the outage.  I'm in PA (VZW) and haven't had internet service for nearly 3 hours.  I've tried getting updates from VZW to no avail.  I'm trying my best to exercise patience, but would just like a status update.

Dont fret and have some real life fun for a while.
I am going to have a beer and make a snowman.

  • 3 Problems (GPS, BBM, EMAIL)

    Hi,
If you have not already noticed I have three problems right now with my relatively new blackberry (about 3 months old). First off, my blackberry messenger has stopped sending or recieving messages.  It worked perfectly fine untill three days ago, when out of nowhere I could no longer send or recieve any messages.  I have tried in different locations, I have reset the phone, and I have tried sending to multiple people as well as having people send to me, so far ntohing has worked.  Secondly, I no longer can recieve email.  This problem occured at the same time as the bbm incident.  I have not tried sending emails from my phone, but I have sent to the phone and it will not recieve them.  The third problem regards my gps reciever.  I have verizon wireless, so the gps is locked for all applications except bb maps and vz navigator.  Therefore, I have been using the google maps function without gps.  However, after finding out that the gps works with bb maps I turned on the gps function which worked for about 2 days with bb maps.  However, on the second day, the gps function no longer connected with satellites and still will not connect to satellites.  I believe this event may have some connection to the failure of the other two functions (bbm, email).  If this has happened to anyone else, or if this sounds fixable please respond.
    Thank You

Your problems do sound data related as drizzt09 mentioned. For the GPS, I have used a fix that I posted in this thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8300&thread.id=52810&jump=true
You can try it out, it may or may not work for you...it did for me!
Calling your provider to make sure they have the data plan on your account is important. Meanwhile you could try a few things:
    1. In Manage Connections, turn all connections off...wait a minute...turn them back on.
    2. Go to Options>Advanced Options>Host Routing Table...press menu/blackberry button and "register now"
    3. Send service books to the phone by:
Logging in to your carrier's BIS site (where you setup your email)
Go to Service Books and click "Send Service Books"
An as always, a Battery Pull (which I believe you have tried):
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.
Other than that, your provider will be the best place to resolve this for you if none of the above options work out.

  • No BBM Email or Facebook

Any help?  My phone has stopped receiving facebook/BBM/emails.  I dont think I have altered anything??  What could it be?

    Hello!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Selectively Add/Remove BIS-Created Email Signature?

I've put my personal signature block on all my BIS-based email accounts - that works fine.  However, I've noticed that in a thread with a few replies - my signature block gets added (each time) to the very bottom of the thread.  So if I'm replying - say for the 3rd time - the signature block doesn't stay with that 3rd reply; rather - it drops all the way to the bottom of the thread - behind other signature blocks.
With BES - the signature stays with whatever was just typed/added to the thread.  Anyone know of a way to opt out (or in) of the signature block for BIS emails?  For example - when I create an email and the signature block is there - that's great - but I don't need it to go with each subsequent reply to that same email thread - especially if it's not anchored to what I just typed and being thrown to the very bottom.
    Ideas?
    Thanks!
    Coach B.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You could simply disable your BIS sig line altogether and use autotext instead.
Recreate your sig line in OPtions > AutoText wih some of letter combination such as "zx" to activate the signature.

    Hello,
Have you tried removing your battery to restart your BlackBerry smartphone and then test. Also make sure you are able to make outbound calls as well.
    Thank you.

  • BBM/Email not working on unlocked Torch

I have a 2+ years old BB 9800 and just brought it to Colombia and unlocked it. Before unlocking it, whenever I brought it to Colombia I just kept it at home and used it for BBM, email and WhatsApp. I turned off data services when roaming and used my wifi network for all that to avoid roaming data charges.
Today I unlocked it to use it with a Claro SIM card. I was surprised to find out that while I DID have signal and was able to use my wifi internet with my old settings (data off while roaming, even with data just simply off) and I was able to use the wifi network to use the browser, App World, facebook, WhatsApp, etc, I was not able to use BBM, nor was I able to re-set up my email accounts, which I had deleted before unlocking the device.
Interestingly, when it tried to sync the facebook app (working perfectly) with the BBM, it said it was not able to do so since my radio was off (and it was always on, I even turned data services on always, and it did not work then).
I thought this problem was just with the Claro SIM card (granted I was able to text and call from it as a Claro prepaid customer) so I put the AT&T SIM card back in, and the problem persisted.
I should also add that while I am able to use the browser, the automatic search is disabled. For example, if i type in keywords it uses it as an internet address and replaces the space for a period, so I have to go to google.com or another search engine for a search.
Is there anything I can do to recover my BBM (pretty much the only reason why I havent switched to iPhone) and my email?

Also, I have done the battery pull a few times, and I still can't use BBM or enter email settings. I CAN enter BBM, I just cannot send messages (red clock) or receive any, nor can I invite or receive invitations.

  • Email Outage

Does anyone know about the current email outage on icloud??

The last email I sent was Tueday at 3:50 pm. Sometime between then and 8:30 pm, it went down. Everyone seems to forget that today, Wednesday is the day Apple is making the big iPhone 5 announcement. You think this is a coincidence? You think this was not intended to put Apple in a bad light on its big day? I'm not a big conspiracy advocate, but I don't believe in suspicious coincidences. I don't think this is an accident. For all we know, there may be an on-going attack on the system, and they have their handsful limiting damage and responding to the attack. They may not know the extent or the nature of the problem. Would you have them make announcements armed with scant information that would later prove to be incorrect? How would they notify you about the problem, call you on the phone? You don't have email or cloud, so how would they notify you? They are aware of the problem. Do you really think they are dragging their feet in trying to solve it? We expect a great deal from Apple. Nothing is perfect, but they come a whole lot closer than anyone else.

  • BBM, emails not working through wifi

My BB Torch 9800 has stopped being able to use BBM, emails and a couple more apps through my wifi conection. I am in an area where ther is no network signal, so this service is very essential for me. The internet browser on the phone works ok, and some apps work ok (whats app, facebook). I have been onto O2 and they say evertyhing looks fine at their end, and nothing has accidentally been switched off. My wifes phone (BB Storm with T-Mobile) is still working with BBM ok. Please help

  • BBM, Email and 3G isnt working!!!!

I bought my blakcberry torch a couple of days ago, since then i have signed up for a blackberry ID and registered with my Wifi, this has all worked fine. However, for some reason whenever i go on setup and then email accounts it always says "your device is having problems connecting to the server" whats this all about? Also, whenever i go on BBM and try to invite a friend it says "waitng for authorisation" i'm on contract with BSI included. Additionally i know my friend has not declined my invite cause he said my invite hasnt come through (only been 3 days). Help is needed on this too! And finally, if i go anywhere without wifi i can't access the internet because it says "my service plan doesn't approve internet" literally wtf, blackberry's a far too complicated!?! HELP IS NEED ASAP PLEASE!!!!

In the first instance try these two steps, both should result in a message appearing in your inbox saying the handset is registered on the network:
    - remove the battery, wait 30 seconds and reinsert.
    - go to Options - Advanced - Host Routing Table, press the menu key and select Register Now
If you are still have issues After this you need to give Tesco's Mobile a call - it could be that BIS has not been fully activated on your phone.

  • BBM email and password

    Hi
I am switching from a blackberry curve tto a Z10 . i am trying to retore my BBM contacts.but can't remember the email and password I used. Is there a way to find this out?

How to change or reset the BlackBerry ID password
You have to remember either the BlackBerryID password, or the secret question answer. Without either, you're stuck.
    Your choices are:
--Use another email account to create an entirely new BlackBerryID (with which you will lose access to any purchased apps using the "forgotten" first BlackBerryID, or
--Find the initial email you were sent to confirm the initial BlackBerryID, and in it is a link to click to cancel and delete the account. Click on that, delete the account and then you can use that same email to create an entirely new account.
    Good luck.

  • BBM & Email stop working every morning....

Every morning my BBM, Whatsapp, Email and Facebook notifications stop working....
BBM has a red clock when sending and doesn't receive and the others don't receive or send anything...
The only fix has been pulling the battery or doing a soft reset with ctrl+alt+delete.
I have tried reinstalling the apps, reinstalling the OS (don't know how to format and reinstall tho)
Can anyone give me some solutions? Does it sound like a hardware problem?
My phone is a brand new out the box Blackberry Curve 8520, its got an etisalat sim card as I live in Dubai if that matters.

    Cat and Maximo,
    > Let me try to get that straight. Your BM does static NAT for your
    > mailserver (and other boxes), and suddenly UDP and ICMP from these
    > natted servers through the BM still works, but TCP doesn't?
Yes. That's what it looks like.
    > Can you still do TCP *to* the BM from the natted devices when that
    > happens? As you say your proxy continues to work, it sounds as if TCP in
    > general on the server continues to work, but does it also work from the
    > mailserver?
Everyone browsing via BM proxy continues with no interuption.
The mail server can telnet to any other server on the internal LAN but
nothing past BM. DNS continues working for the mail server too.
    > If really nothing changed, this might be a (succesful) DOS attack of
    > some sort. I wonder if a LAN trace could reveal anything of interest.
Do you mean port scan the BM server?
I know that "nothing has changed" is a loaded statement. The only thing
(that I know of) that has changed relatively recently is the addition of
the Squid server. It has been running behind the BM server for about 3
weeks. Recently I added a filter exception allowing the Squid server to
    access higher ports (dyn/tcp).
But, as I noted before, I think removing ipflt should eliminate any
doubts there. Is there some way Squid could be corrupting something there?
The problem was compounded this morning (saturday). I came in today so I
would have the network essentially to myself. But, to my surprise,
    everything was ok.
Cat, You're right. This server is no spring chicken. It is an IBM
Netfinity 3000. Its probably 3 or 4 years old (maybe more). I will think
about this as a hardware problem but I just wish the thing would die
altogether and get it over with. :o)
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Day Two of BT Yahoo email outages

Today is the second day of intermittent outages affecting BT Yahoo email customers, such as myself. I was told by BT Brodband Technical Support that the problem is related to the swicthover from BT Yahoo to BT Mail, which began in March 2014. That is EIGHT MONTHS AGO, although BT notices say that is being done over the coming "weeks." Yesterday I was plagued with problems in connecting to the BT Yahoo email server. Emails often could not be sent, and some incoming messages took 10 hours to arrive in my inbox. The most common error message related to passwords. At the beguinning, before I called the BT Service Stats Line, I thought it could be ersolved by changing my password; when I tried to do this on the BT Yahoo website, the web page went blank when I clicked the box. Today he error message changed to 'internal server error IS6532.' I Googled this and found references to problems with BT Yahoo.
I have complianed to BT, and also lodged a complaint with Ofcom. I recommend that all BT customers who are exoperiencing similar problems do the same. BT has neglected to keep its customers up to date with the changeover from BT Yahoo to BT Mail. It has never provided any reasons for the protracted delays in this changeover, or offered any real apology to the millions of customers who must have been affected by these technical problems.

Woeful does not even begin to describe the utter, utter shambles that is BT email at the moment. And as I have said in another thread just where are the apologies? I know that BT itself does not monitor this forum but some of their employees in the shape of the moderators do - surely they should post a very prominent sticky announcing the problems, what is being done about it, when is the estimate for the reolution but above all APOLOGISING for the problems and maybe, just maybe (but don't hold your breath here) offering some kind of rebate for all customers who are affected. And that means all those of us who have not yet been migrated to the all new, singing dancing (I joke) BTMail!!!
    Yours sincerely

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Is that email account currently added to the BlackBerry?
Also if you have 140 now and had 150 last week, you will not have access to who were deleted.

  • BBM, email not working on the new network

    Hi!
I was using Vodaphone earlier, and all the function of my Blackberry were running perfectly. I could use my BBM, my email etc etc.
Only recently I shifted to the US and took H2O sim card.( H2O uses AT&T towers.) My monthly plan gives me 500MB data free. Though I am able to use the internet (that too only through Opera Mini broswer) , my BBM, and my blackberry Email client are just not working. (I have to access my emails through an internet browser)
I must have called up the H2O customer care service at least 10 times asking for the right configuration etc..but I have recieved no help from them at all. They keep transfering the call..and never respond.
    I hope i would some help/answers here.
