12 hours to download iTunes
i just purchased a new Toshiba Laptop, Intel i3 windows 8.1. I have been trying to download iTunes for over 24 hours now. After about 15 hours it got to 71%, but it hung there for hours than told me it had been suspended and would not restart. I am now trying it on another laptop and it is still telling me 12+ hours. I have AT&T DSL speed 6mb. I have even plugged in the Ethernet cable to see if it will go faster, but it is still crawling, any suggestions? This is so frustratiing! It shouldn't take this long to download 145mg.
See the further information area of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for direct links which may work better.

Why, 4 the love of my sanity is it going to take 4 hours 2 download itunes?
Ahh, please help.
My brother in law has handed me a brand new iPod nano complete with lead and a load of CDs and asked me to marry the two together.
Ok, i say to myself, no wucking forries, ah, but that would be too simple i say.
Using the instructions i go to the start page and am told to download the latest version of itunes.
I click on the download button and 1.5hrs later i'm here banging my head on the desk with frustration as i still have another 2.5 hours to go, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I have an older computer that we've upgraded with odds and sods including high speed data ports blah de blah but we don't have broadband because frankly we don't use the computer enough to warrant it.
Anyhoo, is it normal to take this long because within the next 30 mins the whole lot, including brother in laws ipod is going out the window.
Thanks guys and gals, any help would be greatly appreciated.could be a couple of things. I downloaded it the other day on a very old computer and it only took about 15 mins. As the other person said, it could be internet speed. But your speed seems ok, unless that is not correct. You cannot beleive what the comp. says about speed. My comp. says 10mb/sec, utter bs. We live out in the country, no dsl here.
The other problem could be your comp. Have you defraged it lately? Do you have enough room and memory? Maybe other programs like auto updates are working at the same time. Maybe just a staticy ph line. -
Question: Why when downloading a purchased movie from ITunes does it take 8 to 17 hours to download? I have an HP Laptop with Windows 7 using a core processer i7. This is the second day to try to get the movie downloaded and I still cannot watch this movie. Seems like a problem with ITunes or a scam. I use a IPhone 4 with little issues, But when using this lap top -- it is a joke.
First thing to do is get the CC off your system. Then try the direct download option linked below...
You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

after clicking "yes" to the question "do you want to update itunes now", i waited 2 hours and 15 minutes and it was still "loading". i turned computer off thinking something was wrong. now itunes won't open at all. do i need to download itunes again?
Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe... -
I just bought Apple TV 2 weeks ago. I have a brand new Samsung LED TV. Everything works fine. I rented a movie from iTunes and it took 4 hours to download. My friend said this is wrong, his movies play instantly, so what's wrong?

when i start downloading a CD purchase it downloads approx 3 to 4 songs then just stops says downloading waited a hour still downloading had to force quit iTunes then reopen to complete download keeps doing this every time i purchase a cd any ideas ?
I too am facing this problem, however a little differently. I am in the process of uploading my vinyl collection to digital format in Audacity and am having this problem with multiple tracks when played in iTunes. The first few albums I ripped play just fine in iTunes, but the last few skip over about the last minute of every song and go to the next song. As you said, if you drag the time marker past the skipping point though, the rest of the song will play to the end just fine. I then synced these songs onto my iPod and they play perfectly straight through. I was leaning toward a bad mp3 encoding process that was maybe creating a glitch but I'm not sure at this point if they play correctly on my iPod. In quicktime the song will just stop playing at that specfic point, but if you hit play again, it will continue to the end. I can say though, I haven't seen this problem with any iTunes download, or ripped CD that I have ever put into iTunes (which makes my situation a tad different than yours), it's been purely the songs that I have imported via Audacity from LP's.

I have downloaded iOS 6 to my iTunes but I have clicked "Download Only" not "Download and Update" how do i install/sync it to my iPad. Please help me, its taken me hours to download it i don't want to do it again
PLEASE HELP ME!!!Hook your iPad into your computer and open iTunes. GIve it a couple of minutes to get going, then click on the name of your device, then the main summary page. In the middle you'll see a software update button/area. Click on check on updates and update and follow the prompts.
it SHOULDN"T redownload but if you've already got it should just install.
I'd suggest that you first do a complete sync before you update, that way you have a good backup to restore your device from if the upgrade doesn't go perfect. -
Trying to download update to CoPilot Live and CoPilot GPS with maps. Files sizes are large and taking hours to download on wireless connection. How can I download updates and new maps while connected to PC and Itunes through hard wire internet link?
I'm on my iPad, so I don't know if this is the page with an actual download. I don't see a button, but assume that is because I am on an iPad. It is in the DL section of Apple downloads.

Upload and download speed is horrible. it takes hours to download a movie from iTunes.
upload and download speed is horrible. it takes hours to download a movie from iTunes.
VangieChuck the problem is definitely not iTunes it is your ISP download provision. Either your ISP needs to make a service call and solve your bandwidth issues or you need a better service, granted it all depends where in the world you are located. In Kappy's and my neck of the woods we are use to 5 - 250 Mbps download rates with an average of about 25 mbps for most city dewellers. Upload will vary depending on your service.

My movies on Apple TV have started taking around an hour to download and I've not changed anything for this to happen. I've been told to go to Settings on iTunes, to reduce the resolution but there isn't a settings tab. Can anyone help?
On the main menu, isn't there a settings icon next to the green one that says "Computer" ?

I am attempting to download 2 films from itunes one states download in 54 minute and is 2.01 Gb and the other states 1.64gb and will take 4 hours to download any advice?
It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this. -
Why is it taking 20 hours to download a movie from itunes?
i just purchased a movie from itunes and it says that it will take around 20 hours to download, is that normal?
Hi lacostejacket,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are downloading a movie from iTunes and it gave you an estimated time of 20 hours to complete. Download times can vary depending on the size of the file and the speed of Internet connection. Please use the following article as a reference. It has a table that shows expected download times for certain speeds.
iTunes Store: Download times will vary
