12 volt charging plug

I have an HP Laptop and would like to be able to plug it into a standard 12 volt DC outlet. I have checked several computer stores for this type of plug in device and no one has them. My sailboat has many 12 volt outlet receptacles connected to a large house battery bank. I've been told to look for an "air adapter", but I don't know what that is. Surely there must be a standard 12 volt plug.
Thanks
Jerabek

Hi,
Please try the following charger:

I think you can buy cheaper elsewhere such as Amazon, eBay ... if you wish

  • 240 volt charger for ipod

    Hello,
I have a 240 volt charger with a usb port on it that I use for my phone. It outputs 5.2 volts at 400ma.
Will this be okay to use for my ipod? A standard usb prt outputs 5 volts but I dont think the .2 volts more will matter? Or will it??

Plug it into the AC charger and Reset the iPod whileplugged in.

  • Is using a 12 volt charger bad for my iPhone 5?

Is using a 12 volt charger bad for my iPhone 5?  I just purchased the iPad Air and it came with the same lightning cable that was included with my iPhone 5.  The only difference is that the charger that came with my iPhone is a 10 volt and the one that came with my iPad Air is a 12 volt.  I find it would be easier if I could just use one cable instead of two, but I'm afraid that the12 volt charger would mess up my iPhone.  Can anyone help answer this question?

There is no problem using the iPad charger with the iPhone. I've been doing it for years because it's just easier. The iPhone will stop charging when it reaches capacity. If you look at the Apple Online Store, you'll see that the 12-volt charger they sell is listed as working for both iPhones and iPads.
    Best of luck.

  • HP Battery, Is It OK to keep the charger plugged in ?

    Hi All
This is my first question here and I hope you'll help me
I want to ask if it is OK to keep the charger plugged in the laptop while the battery is full ?
I mean when the battery is 100%, will the energy go directly to the PC or it will go to the battery before ?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Nowadays batteries should be smart enough to stop getting charged when full. I can't see the difference from removing and keeping batteries on AC, some machines sit on docking stations all the times and some machines can be ON/OFF. This is my reply to another post:

  • Is it OK to leave my iPad charger plugged in (i.e., charging)

Is it OK to leave my iPad2  charger plugged in at full charge when I'm in one place for long periods? If so, should I still cycle the battery down once a month as recommended for the Mac Book?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Your Device is in Recovery Mode and needs to be connected to the Computer you Usually Sync with.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...

  • My ipad air charging plug is getting hot. Should I be concerned?

My original iPad Air had to be replaced because of a hardware problem. Then my charging cord also had to be replaced. Now I am noticing that my charging plug is getting hot. Should I be concerned? Thanks. This is the plug on the end of the charging cord that came with my iPad, of course.

Make sure you are using the 10W/12W charger.
5W charger will get hot if you use it to charge the iPad.

  • ZMP Charging/Plug I

I have had my ZMP for about 2 weeks. It did not come with a DC charger so I must charge it from the USB. I have the lastest firmware installed. My problem is, the player never seems to fully charge. Actually I think that it charges and maybe fully, but i never get the charge icon to change from blinking lighting bolt to the fully charged plug. I think that i have tried everything and read over many post about this issue but I still can not the icon to change to the fully charged plug. Any help greaty apperacted.

<SPAN>It has been charging for 2+ hours. I will elaborate; it seems like the player is charging and after a few hours it will stop pulsating. But I have never been able to see the total charge ?plug? icon. I have the player plugged into a USB on the back of the PC and not through a USB hub. I have had the Zen Micro before and did not have this issue, but I was also using the DC charger that came with it. Let me know what else I can answer for you. I appreciate your help.

My chargin plug for a MBA appears to have failed. The light does not come on at the connection point. Can I use the charging plug for a MBP until I can get another MBA plug? And what do I look for when purchasing a new charging plug for a MBA? All comments appreciated.

    Yes.

  • Leaving charger plugged in-good or bad idea?

While the MagSafe connector is really nice, it leads me to ask whether it's wise (or safe) to leave the charger plugged in continuously, as it does get warm. I've looked but cannot find any information on power draw when charger is connected vs unconnected to the MacBook.
Does anyone know the recommendation for leaving plugged or unplugging a charger by a knowledgable source who knows how these devices are engineered?
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2GB Apple RAM

    I now have further information.
After charging, the power adapter is warm to hot.
After running with power connected, the power adapter is warm to hot.
After disconnecting the MagSafe connector (and letting time pass), the power adapter(while still plugged into the wall) is cool to the touch.
I am therefore concluding that there is some active circuitry in the power adapter that senses (or responds to) the MagSafe connector being engaged, and that reduces the power draw and heat deterioration of the power adapter.
As always, an answer from an authoritative source would be nice.

  • Tx 2510us Shuts down if charger plugged in

    Hi,
I've Hp Tx 2510us and it works very fine on battery. As soon as you plug in charger, it shuts down in 1 - 2 minutes.
I have tried windows vista / windows 7  .. downloaded bios / firmware , tried everything.
I took out heat sink / fan , cleaned it with blower and all that stuff.
I have tried putting copper coin along with thermal paste between GPU chip and heat sink, same results.
I have tried using it with Power saver mode consistently. same results.
it works fine with charger plugged in when you are in DOS or windows recovery or installing new windows. However as soon as windows is up and running, it shuts down or screen goes black .
My system's warranty is expired in 2009
I don't know what else to do ?

I have the same issue on tx 2500

  • Macbook shuts down without charger plugged in, does need a new battery or is it something else? thx

My macbook works with the charger plugged in but even when it shows it charged without the charger it shuts down. Does it need a new battery or is it something else. How do i check battery life?

It probably needs a new battery. Check your battery info by clicking the Apple menu and select about this Mac, then either click more info or system report depending on which version of OS X you're running.

  • Satellite P50t-A won't power on without AC Charger plugged in

    Hi there,
I'm having an issue with the power on my P50t-A.
    History...
For a while, I was getting less and less time out of the battery, until eventually one night it reached 0% with the AC charger plugged in, and windows telling me it "plugged-in" and "charging". It never increased from 0%, and would shut itself down.
Given this history, I figured the battery had finally died.
I ordered a new battery, opened up the laptop and replaced the old battery with the new one. I assumed at this point it was a no-brainer.
I plugged the laptop back into the AC Charger, and without turning it on, let it charge up for the firs time. After several hours I noticed that the charge light remained red (as opposed to white - charged). I decided to turn the machine on to see where the charge was upto; 75%. Windows says "plugged-in" and "charging". I thought fine, I'll turn it off and let it go a bit longer.
Came back a couple hours later to find the charge light still red. Turned on the machine to check the charge status - guess what - 75%.
I shut the machine down, unplugged the AC charger, and hit the 'on' button... NOTHING.
Opened up the machine, confirmed the battery connectors are plugged in - all seems OK.
Did plenty of forum searching, some posts said upgrade the BIOS, so I did that - now has the latest (at the time, 1.9). No change.
Tried various other updates with the Service Center application, nothing.
Found something referring to uninstalling and re-installing a microsoft battery device driver (I didn't see what something in the OS would have to do with it, since the issue begins before boot, but I thought heck - I'm running out of things to try - I'll give it a go) - no change.
Eventually landed on a post refering to this Toshiba post, talking about a battery reset button:
    http://support.toshiba.com/support/v...tentId=4004523
Tried the battery reset button, with both the AC charger connected and disconnected. No luck.
I'm now at a loss, and worried something is wrong with the motherboard.
It's almost as if the laptop recognises the battery is there, but can't (or won't) send or draw power from it.
Anyone seen this before, or know of a solution?
    Many thanks.

I'm now at a loss, and worried something is wrong with the motherboard.
I’m afraid you could be right…
Usually the DC IN / Battery indicator will glow amber while the battery is being charged.
In case the notebook is OFF the battery should be fully charged after about 3 hours… if the notebook is ON, the charging time would be a little bit longer… after about 6 hours the battery should be fully charged.
In such case the Dc IN / Battery indicator should switch the status to “white”. This would indicate that the battery is fully charged…
New batteries need to be calibrated to reach the best performance…
Calibrating means that the battery should be discharged until its fully empty and then charged again till the DC IN/battery indicator would glow white.
This process should be repeated two, three times until the battery recovers normal capacity.
As mentioned, the DC IN / Battery indicator should glow amber to indicate that the battery pack is being charged. However if the LED does not glow, this indicates that power is not being supplied correctly.
