120 fps double playback time

Hello,
may someone can explain me..
I tried Premiere CS6 while looking for a Programm to work on my GoPro Videos.
I imported a 720p 120 fps Video and is was playing "normal".
BUT, then i noticed, that the video, what should be about 15 minutes long, has double length about 30 minutes in the timeline and also when i export it with 60 fps.
When i play the source file it is 15 minutes long. In other Video editing tools, it is 15 minutes.. only in Premiere it get 30 minutes.
so why? and how can i change that to the original time?
i tried with "change speed" but then, audio doesn't sound original or gets asyncronous.
thanks
Christian

Thanks.. i got it now.. finding the "interpreate footage" in german language
ok.. changed it to 120 fps so the clip is no 16 minutes.
BUT.. playing it, the sound is like playing with double speed.
So now i have to "sync" the sound to the 16 minutes..
Update: The audio ends on the half on the video.
When playing it as 32 minutes the audio ends at 16. > Audio has correct time.
When at 16, audio ends at 8. > video "correct" length, but audio half.
i want to adjust the framrate (footage) of the Video. The audio should be untouched.
pfu.. premiere gets diffcult

  • Problem reading GoPro Hero Black 4 files (1080p 120 fps) on my iMac with Adobe Premiere Elements

    Hello,
    I have a problem reading GoPro Hero Black 4 files (1080p 120 fps) on my iMac with Adobe Premiere Elements : the file is read but the quality is quite bad. When I watch it with other software like VLC or MPC, the quality is perfect but the video is sometimes slowed or there are some jumps in the reading.
    What is the issue with this ?
    thakns for your help !
    Olivier.

    This is easy. I do it all the time. FCPX ingests GoPro footage just fine. Optimize, and you're good to go.
    BTW: A common hiccup occurs when dealing with over-cranked footage. (60fps or 120fps.) Be sure to "conform speed" to actuate the slo-mo. 'Tis also important to designate your project / timeline at 24fps or 30fps to realize the speed difference.
    I've gotten burned in the past. I'll drag my over-cranked GoPro footage to the timeline. As it is the "first" clip layed into the timeline, the project assumes THAT speed as a default. (As per my preferences.) Thus, when I "conform speed," nothing seems to happen. That's because my project is displaying at the higher rate. A 60fps timeline showing footage shot at 60fps looks "normal speed."
    FYI. (And disregard if you know all this.)

  • Final Cut Pro X doesn't seem to recognize 120 fps

    I hust bought a GoPro Hero 2 with the capability of shooting 120fps. When I upload the clip into my timeline it says that it can't recognize the format and prompts to 60 fps. Any thoughts on how to get the full 120 fps? Thanks

    Here is the link.
    http://gopro.com/3d-cineform-studio-software-download/
    But Tim Wolsky is correct. If you set your project at 29.97 before you start editing the project and then drag the clips in, they will conform to 29.97 and be able to slow down. I also like it in Final Cut becasue it is preset to ramp up and down into slow motion. Meaning, if you only want part of your clip in slomo, you select the Range tool, highlight that section and slow it down. Final Cut has an algarithm that does a slight ramp down to slow mo, so it isn't jarring. Very cool.
    The gopro software will allow you to slow it down to the appropriate frame rate then export it as the longer, full slow motion clip. It's more exact than final cut, becasue it doesn't work in percentage, but you do lose flexibilty.
    I shot some footage the day I got the camera and slowed it down in Final Cut. I will upload and post it to the thread, if you are curious on the end result. It's just grainy, becasue it was dark and indoors, but you will get an idea of the smoothness of the effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • 120 FPS slowdown - 240 FPS no slowdown. Why?

    I have a preset on 1080p and 60 FPS. I import a video shot with GoPro hero 3, having 720p and 120 FPS. This video is slowed down 2:1, and my googling skills told me, that is a result of Premiere Pro only going up to 60FPS. However - I also have some WGA 240 FPS shots - You would think that these would be slowed 4:1, due to 240 / 4 = 60, but they smoothly and normaly. How is that? Because I really want my 720p /120FPS to run normally as well.

    Hey Jeff
    I looked into the modify you talked about, and found this:
    The upper one is WGA, 240 fps. In the modify ->interpret footage, it doesnt change the FPS, video or audio.
    The lower one is 720p, 120 fps. In modify --> interpret footage, the FPS is changed from 120 (as seen to the left) to 60. If I change it manually, or by "assume this frame rate: 60", the video runs normally and not slowed 2:1 - But the audio is off sync because is doubles the speed.

  • The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?

    I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
    I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
    Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
    This is the problem:
    The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
    Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
    I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?
    Thanks!

    No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
    Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
    (In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

    Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
    iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

    There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to.

  • XML DB: As XML file size doubles validate time more than doubles

    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    We have default XMLDB install. I am using schemavalidate() to successfullly validate xml files against a registered xsd. For some reason as the files size doubles the time to validate the file grows at a faster rate than double? We wanted to generate approx 18MB files since they hold 5000 records. But as you can see it appears I would be better off generating six 3MB files instead. What init.ora or xdbconfig.xml parameter might I change to help out with behavior? Any other ideas of why this happening? Is this an example of "doesn't scale"?

  • How to write step name and playback time to an output file?

    In OpenScript for Functional Test, I want to create a csv file with just the step name and the playback time for the step. I don't care to carry all the details in my report file. I see that in the Session folder, there is a csv file with all the playback results. How can I either customize this csv file or create another csv file to report only the step name and the play back time for each iteration?

    Hi
    That line of code should do the trick:
         utilities.getFileService().appendStringToFile("pathToFile", getStepResult().getStepName()+ "," +getStepResult().getFinishTime() +"\n");Hope this helps

  • FCP: Capturing 120 fps slo-mo?

    A friend has a Canon camera and has shot some 120 fps video. It looks gorgeous in the camera. How can this be imported in FCP? Don't see frame rates that high for capture....
    thanx!

    Search the forum for the camera model. It \probably shoots a proprietary format at that speed. You will need the Canon software, likely PC-only.

  • Clear data taking double the time than usual...

    Hello,
    We are on 11.1.1.3 and force archiving the database to ABC.arc file. All of sudden we noticed the double the size of ABC.arc file (from 3GB to 6GB) and the calc script to clear data is taking double the time than previous( earlier it was .30mins n now its 1hour).
    But the daily data files are of same size like 90MB and other 2 metadata files 80MB & 60KB.
    And also there was no change in the time to archive the database & calulating aggregation of whole database etc.,
    Only Clearing data script itself taking double the time. From EAS logs we noticed that the no. of blocks to be cleared are same (3000) on all days and no. of fixed account members also same on all days.
    There was no suspicious log while the clearing data script running..it is same as before.
    So,could any one has idea what might be wrong and what are the arficats would be there in .arc file which may cause to increase its size almost double.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    If it was taking 30 mins to clear data before something else is wrong to begin with. Also - FIXing on dense members with calc commands (CLEARDATA, COPY DATA) degrades performance severely.
    For what it's worth you will probably get more replies with a more professional post, where are is not abbreviated 'r' and would not abbreviated 'wud'.

  • Trouble with current playback time on progress bar

    First, some terminology.
    As Adobe Flash Player is preparing to play a video, it displays a spinning icon in the center of the video window.  I have seen web pages which refer to this as the spinning beach ball.  I will refer to this simply as the "spinning icon".
    While Adobe Flash Player is playing a video, when one hovers the cursor over the video window (or moves the cursor while playing the video in full screen mode), one sees a progress bar at the bottom of the window.  To the left of the progress bar is a pause button.
    The progress bar has a pointer representing the current playback time within the video.  The progress bar also has a display of the current playback time and length of the video (eg, 40:37 / 01:12:35, meaning that play back is at 40 minutes and 37 seconds within a video which is 72 minutes and 35 seconds long).
    On my Windows XP system, when Flash Player V10.0.32.18 is playing a streaming video, the video pauses when bandwidth is momentarily insufficient to deliver the video bit stream.  The spinning icon appears in the center of the video window.  The current playback time on the progress bar also pauses, as it should.  But when the video resumes, the current playback time does not begin incrementing again.  It remains stalled at the time the pause occurred, which is irritating because it is no longer possible to tell how much time remains in the video.
    It took me a very long time to discover that once the current playback time has stalled, pressing the pause button will cause the current playback time to refresh to the correct playback time and begin incrementing again.  Yaaayyyyyy!
    Now, perhaps someone can help me with a challenge I have been unable to solve.
    On occasion, I want to back up a few seconds within a video.  But if I use my mouse to grab the pointer within the progress bar and move it backward, moving the pointer only a few seconds is a huge challenge.  Even a slight movement of my mouse moves the pointer back a minute or two.
    Is there a way to move the pointer using a key (eg, an arrow key) so that each key press moves the pointer back only a second or two?
    And how about being able to key in a time and press enter, thereby causing the pointer to move to the specified time? Any way to do that?

    Hi OSW, Thanks, now if the NPSWF (FF) files listed are 10.0.32.18 which I'm sure they are, then your FF Flash files are correct. You can right click on each of those and click Properties to confirm the version numbers. Then you have the SWF that is correct. So you have FF Flash files and the SWF, so you are ok on FF.
    IE is a different story. That FIDbg10c.ocx should not be there, it should be Flash10c.ocx to match the FlashUtil10c.ocx.
    Now as far as doing what you suggested, in a word NO. First of all the plug-in is normally used as referring to FF or other browsers than IE. ActiveX is used for IE. If you ran the uninstall_plug-in.exe, you would be removing your FF add on, so don't do that since all of your related Flash files for FF are intact. (Do not disturb:-)
    Now the proper way to Uninstall is to use the Adobe Uninstaller that is downloaded to your Desktop. Then the IE Flash Player Installer is likewise downloaded to the Desktop. Then the FF Installer is downloaded to your Desktop. That way it seems to work better. Also the following must be taken into consideration. Any Anti-Virus/Spyware/Firewall can block
    the install of the ActiveX Control for IE. You must run in the Administrative mode or be the Administrator to install the
    ActiveX and write to the Windows Registry, which Flash Player does on the Install.
    Keep in mind that an Uninstall will remove Flash Player files and the SWF and the SWO for ALL browsers. Then the IE Installer is used to Install FP and the SWO for IE. Then the FF Installer is used to Install the FP & SWF for FF.
    Trying to update or download the Flash Player latest version does not remove the old versions as some software installs do. The old versions must be removed by the Adobe FP Uninstaller prior to any download of the new version.
    I have to be offline for a time. Will check back in later. Just wanted to give you some info on this. There are a couple of things that can be done, and will explain later. If you are satisfied with FF & IE with how Flash Player is working, you don't have to do anything. Again, the update may not accomplish the progress bar issue either. So it is something to think about.
    Thanks,

  • JMediaPlayer - get media duration, current playback time ... etc

    Hello everybody,
    I can't seem to find API calls for the following purposes:
    - get media duration
    - get current playback time
    - set current playback time
    Does anybody know how to get/set those values?
    By the way, I'm embedding the JMediaPlayer within a Swing application, not developing a classic FX tool.
    Thank you in advance,
    r.

    To best learn JavaFX and its API and class of what it can do or not do, do learn to decompile the code into Java. You will find most of your answer there (though you may find it limit in understanding Java class compiled from JavaFX Script source)
    First of all, the decompiled JMediaPlayer show the following code
    package com.sun.media.jmc;
    import com.sun.media.jmcimpl.PlayerControlPanel;
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.net.URI;
    import javax.swing.JComponent;
    // Referenced classes of package com.sun.media.jmc:
    // JMediaPane, MediaUnavailableException, MediaUnsupportedException, MediaCorruptedException,
    // MediaInaccessibleException
    public class JMediaPlayer extends JComponent
    public JMediaPlayer()
    mediaPane = new JMediaPane();
    setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    add(mediaPane, "Center");
    add(controlPanel = new PlayerControlPanel(mediaPane), "South");
    controlPanel.setPlayEnabled(false);
    public JMediaPlayer(URI uri)
    throws MediaUnavailableException, MediaUnsupportedException, MediaCorruptedException, MediaInaccessibleException
    mediaPane = new JMediaPane(uri);
    setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    add(mediaPane, "Center");
    add(new PlayerControlPanel(mediaPane), "South");
    public void play()
    mediaPane.play();
    public void stop()
    mediaPane.stop();
    public void pause()
    mediaPane.pause();
    public void setSource(URI uri)
    throws MediaUnsupportedException, MediaUnavailableException, MediaCorruptedException, MediaInaccessibleException
    if(mediaPane != null)
    mediaPane.setSource(uri);
    if(controlPanel != null)
    controlPanel.setPlayEnabled(true);
    public URI getSource()
    return mediaPane.getSource();
    public float setVolume(float f)
    return mediaPane.setVolume(f);
    public float getVolume()
    return mediaPane.getVolume();
    public void setMute(boolean flag)
    mediaPane.setMute(flag);
    public boolean isMute()
    return mediaPane.isMute();
    public void setRepeating(boolean flag)
    if(mediaPane != null)
    mediaPane.setRepeating(flag);
    public boolean isRepeating()
    if(mediaPane != null)
    return mediaPane.isRepeating();
    else
    return false;
    public void setAutoPlay(boolean flag)
    mediaPane.setAutoPlay(flag);
    public boolean isAutoPlay()
    return mediaPane.isAutoPlay();
    private JMediaPane mediaPane;
    private PlayerControlPanel controlPanel;
    The core object is JMediaPane with API to do what you want.
    mediaPane.setMediaTime(_timeSec); // Set media time
    mediaPane.getDuration(); // Get duration
    mediaPane.getMediaTime(); // Get current playback time
    Unfortunately, you cannot simply retrieve JMediaPane reference from JMediaPlayer because it has a private access modifier. Hence the only way is to create your own Player from the reference code above.

  • GoPro 120 fps footage lags in premier pro help!

    So I've filmed action sports mostly in 720p at 120 fps but when I import those files into premier pro it becomes extremely laggy (anything 60fps and under works fine), I have been forced use the go pro studio app  to import and convert the video files into a useable format, but in the process it drops the frame rate 60fps and in turn I cannot achieve the same level of slow mo I could with 120 fps. Please help I don't know what to do, but I inevitably want awesome clean slow mo footage!

    Thanks, but is it possible to use it directly through premier without converting it through go pro?

  • Stream 2 x 120 fps cameras to disk ... HDD can't keep up?

    So I have two Basler firewire cameras.  Each camera has its own firewire-B card.  And I I wrote some LabVIEW software that can grab frames at 120 fps per camera.
    But I am unable to stream to disk quickly enough to keep up with the frame grab.  Even if I use a producer-consumer architecture, my buffers end up overflowing.  Because I am logging from two cameras simultaneously, I am essentially streaming 240 fps to disk, and each image is color and 640x480.
    Question:  any reccomendations on how to get around this?  I am curious if a new and fast PC with a super-fast HDD will solve the problem.  Or maybe even a SSD drive?

    It all depends on the data rate you have to stream. Different storages have different performance. Benchmarks are the key to get a feeling if a storage type (HDD, SSD, RAID) is sufficient to handle the given data rate. This white paper has some sample benchmarks included which can give you some figures.
    Let's make a small calculation on your figures:
    640 * 480 (Resolution) * 2 (32 bit color depth) * 240 (fps) = 147456000 B/s. This is round about 147 MB/s. Pure data without any additional information.
    So you can see that even SSD will most probable be not sufficient (read something about 70-80MB/s for SSD writing), so you will have to use RAID.
    hope this helps,
    Norbert
    EDIT: The transferrates for SSD is very different. Maybe, this chart helps a bit, even though it does not state MB/s....
    CEO: What exactly is stopping us from doing this?
    Expert: Geometry
    Marketing Manager: Just ignore it.

  • Music playback time

    I have a 4th generation nano (16G). The tech specs say the music playback time is up to 24 hours. I am getting only 4-5 hours after fully charging. Anyone else experiencing this pathetic battery performance?

    I agree, the battery life is considerably shorter than the time on the tech specs. I'm wondering if using the backlight significantly reduces the battery so when changing songs, the battery life is drained considerably??? I'm considering conducting a test to see the actual battery life, and if the ipod fails that then I'll send it back in.
