120 GB iPod what generation?

Hi,
I purchased three 120 GB from Amazon.com. The ad tells me they are sixth generation. I looked at the review on cnet.com and they say second generation.
I'm confused as to what the different generations can do. Would someone please help a newbie? Also the new 120 GB should be the same reguardless of where they are purchased correct?

You're fine with the 120GB iPod Classic as far as purchases and rentals from iTunes are concerned.
Some games and all rented movies won't play on the 5th gen iPod, but you don't have one of those.
Also, games purchased for the 5th gen won't play on the iPod Classic, but again, that's not a concern for you.

I am afraid to download the new update software ios 6.1.6. Because everytime I let it put new software on, It makes my Ipod 4th generation mess up one way or another. Nope, though it did allow me to get some missing songs back onto my iPod. That's something. But neither "Back in Black" or "Dirty Deeds" show up anywhere on the Touch. Could this be because iTunes has no deal with AC/DC?
Quite frankly, at this point, I'd really rather not have the "ease of use" of iCloud attached to the iPod. It's not like I change my playlists that much. It would just be nice to get what I want onto my MP3 player. Not sure which one it was: iCloud, Music Match or the Air Port but the only real result of all the $ I plunked down is seeing all of my Wife's 231 Christmas songs popping up on my laptop. Really don't want them here. She SURE AS **** is sick of seeing all of my stuff on her computer.

I tried downloading the iOS8 to my iPod 5th generation and when it finished downloading it shut down completely and it said there was an error and no the iPod is in recovery mode. What can I do to restore it and update it? Please, I need help.

I recently tried downloading the IOS8 to my iPod 5th generation and when it was almost done the computer said there was an error. Right after that, the iPod shut down completely and now it's on recovery mode. I plugged it in and it said that I had to restore it and update it so I could use it again but it doesn't let me. What can I do? I even did a backup before the update.
I really need help.

What happens when you connect to computer and restore via iTunes?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i dont know what generation my ipod touch is but its 8gb . the features are built in camera in both sides. So i was wondering if you guys know what generation i have. its also because i dont have the new updates (icloud and i message) i dont no how to accsess them? and if i want the new updates do i need to reset my ipod touch?

If it has a front facing camera, it's definitely a 4th generation. You'll love iOS 5 once you update . To update, all you need to do is plug it in to a computer and launch iTunes. It should let you know there's an update available. If you are not prompted to update, you can click on the name of your iPod under the DEVICES section on the left in the iTunes window. Then click on Check for Updates (may also say "Update").
