120hz is not supported on 800x600 (MSI AE2420 3D)

Hi guys, i buy a MSI AE2420 3D AIO PC today, i asked the company about the maximum screen refresh rate support of the LCD and they told me it supports 120hz.
now when i go to display settings and set the resolution on the 800x600 i cant put the refresh rate on 100hz, the maximum supported is 75hz?!
i understand that the LCD supports 120hz only on 1920x1080 full hd 3D mode, am i right?!

Yeap 120hz make no sense @ 800x600 but when you are a counter-strike gamer this will be important for you
Also im on your side, dont know wht 120hz mode is darker, but i think it should reason around 3D Viewing! :-?

  • "Core Center does not support your motherboard" MSI P965 Neo Mobo

    Hi all,
after upgrading to bios version 1.8 I can not seem to be able to use the Core Center application. Every time I try to start up the application I get an error saying that "Core Center does not support your motherboard". I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, update to the latest version but with no success. I also tried to use the Dual Core Center but the result was the same.
Since I am using this program does anybody knows any fix for this problem please. I am sure that this is due to the bios update but I do not know what to do.

  • MOVED: MSI live update not supported on Win XP 64

This topic has been moved to Operating Systems.
MSI live update not supported on Win XP 64

Yes you are right.  The system drive will always be Drive C, but I am not sure if D will be my storage drive or the other sytem drive.  I could always try and find out but just havn't.
In the past, I had lots of virtual drives (partitions), and HDD's (as many as 10 total IDE devices).  But when the larger drives became more affordable, I prefer running with just 2, the system and storage for the sake of simplicity.  Since I do beta testing, I have having to reformat and reinstall a lot, so this system has worked great for me.

  • [290x] MSI Gaming App error "The platform does not support this application."

Using the latest AMD Omega drivers, I am unable to launch the Gaming App and am presented with this error -  "The platform does not support this application."
I have tried downloading Gaming APP 3.0.0.16.zip from another post on the topic but I am receiving the same error. The only other thing I've seen as a 'solution' is to install the drivers from the MSI support page for my card - however this is version 14.4 and is over 3 months old, I don't really think that's a viable solution.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Is your vga driver 14.12? Any other settings changed?
Do you have any other msi or vga software installed?
Can you do a fresh re-install OS and what's the language of your OS?
Yes, Catalyst Omega. No other software or hardware changes.
Yes MSI Afterburner. Have tried uninstalling and installing gaming app, have also not had it running when trying to launch MSI Gaming app. No joy there.
No I can't, that's not really an option for a piece of software like this which worked before but doesn't since the latest AMD driver updates.
    Quote from: JLio01 on 07-January-15, 16:07:38
Since your motherboard is not the supported gaming series mobos, there might be something detected wrong with your card. The error message shown if neither motherboard nor vga is supported in Gaming App. I suggest use AMD Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility to totally uninstall the current driver:
    http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16748/
and re-install the latest driver 14.12. I have no problem using Gaming App 3.0.0.16 with my R9 290X, hope you too.
I have never seen anything stating that you need a supported gaming series motherboard to use the MSI Gaming App - maybe for other features if it has any, but the gaming app I used when I got my card was a little box with a few options for the GPU on it. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver already unfortunately, using both AMD CCUU and a second attempt with DDU. No change at all, the exact same error message.
But as I've said, the fact that there is more than one person reporting this and older drivers make the gaming app work, it's definitely a software ended problem on certain configurations. I have installed driver 14.4 now and can once again use the gaming app, just as someone with a different card and different motherboard has stated in another thread. xxhttps://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=251885.0xx this solution however is not really acceptable.

Thank you... i have got it... it likely not support for that mainboard...
    flobelix is right.
    Something more:
For the G41 chipset DDR3 is a workaround.
This chipset has been designed to work with DDR2.
On the other hand, DDR2-800 (CAS = 5) is as fast as DDR3-1333 (CAS = 9) in most of the benchmarks.
So for your motherboard, 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 is the best match.

PLEASE HELP!! I just purchased this Barebone Computer Kit from Tiger Direct to replace my wife's laptop which is dying. I finally have all the parts to assemble it and start it up. When I purchased the kit "Online" it was sold as a "All Systems Tested and Fully Compatable System".
I was having problems cold booting this computer for the first time. I have now resolved that issue and found the source of the problem in the bootup process itself. Evidently all is not well and fully tested and compatable as Tiger Direct says it is. As the computer boots up for the very first time, you have only 3-4 minutes to tell it weather or not to proceede with installing the following message. I have taken the time to copy the message exactly as it is displayed on my computer screen. I of course will be calling Tiger Direct's Tech Support Line. I have found them to be only as good as the person who answers the phone. Being I'm green anyhow and won't know weather or not I'm being feed a line of BS or not, I thought I'd get some other opinions from folks who understand Computers far better than I. I'm simply firefighter who is trying to buy his wife a decent computer without spending an arm and a leg. In fact I thought this thing would arrive already assembeld and all I needed to do was add an OS and some extras, like a decent video card. I never intended to  build this thing from scratch, I could have purchased a simular spec'd Gateway complete with OS preinstalled with a warrenty for less money!!! I'm Not Happy and Not a Techie!! But looking on the bright side, I sure am learning a lot about computers! If I can get it to work without too many more problems I will be very happy.
    When the computer first boots, here is the message that appears on the screen;
AMIBIOS C 2005 American Megatrends Inc

System Bus And Reduce Processor Speed (Y/N)
Press (Y) To Continue (N) to Shut Down
If I press the Y the computer will run and not shut off in 3 minutes. I let it run last night to see what would happen?? Would it burst into flames?? Would it shut down?? Well after a hour it shut down. Is that normal? Is it some kind of saftey mechinism?
It will start right up again, but it was almost 5am so I shut er down and went to bed. I'm waiting for some advice before I move forward from here. Please respond ASAP! I'd like to get this thing done so I can move on to the next 'Honey Do' project.
This is my first computer I have ever built so I am green to all this. I dont really understand what all this means and what kind of an impact will this have on my new computer??
    1. What does this mean, my CPU is not compataible to this board?
    2. If I keep it and install it, will it cause the computer to be unstable latter on?
    3. How much of a negitive impact will this have on my computer?
    4. How much will it slow it down?
    5. What would you do if you were in my shoes? Replace the CPU for the right one or upgrade to a better one or keep it??
    6. If I do upgrade, what would be a better choice and not break the bank??

    :no-idea: Thanks Dry Heat,
I went to the link that you provided. Here is the latest problem...... I can get the computer to run longer than 3 minutes by pressing the Y key when asked during the initial boot-up. After that the computer will not move off that window I described in my 1st post, no matter what I do. I tried restarting the computer and pressed the Delete key to see if that would work and the F1 and F2 keys during the initial boot up, the Bios Window would appear but the computer would shut down, there was nothing I could do to get past this, let alone go on-line to download something. How would I get on-line without an operating system to update the Bios? Remember I am Green and have no idea what the heck I'm doing, let alone what is the real problem here. Its like fighting fire blindfolded! Please help and be detailed on how I should procede. Thanks! Woody

  • R7770 / Win XP pro driver issue - directx not supported help please!

Hi guys sorry to bother you, and for such a long question.
I've just purchased a brand new MSI branded AMD radeon r7770 to replace my nvidia 8800gt graphics card which finally bit the dust last week.
Despite uninstalling the old nVidia drivers, trying the ones that came with the card and downloading and installing the very latest versions from both the AMD and MSI sites, I still cannot get directx to work. At first glance, the drivers look to be installed OK, (the Catalyst Control Center starts up etc) but none of my games run, and the desktop refresh is incredibly slow. KSP's crash log helpfully states that it cannot find the device driver. When I run Dxdiag.exe all the directx diagnostic tags are greyed out and the info box states that the card does not support directx.
The system is pretty ancient but should still be up to the task as it was a well speced gaming PC in its day:
Mboard: Asus P5K3 Deluxe (intel P35 chipset)
    CPU:      Intel core2duo Q6600 (quad-core)
mem:     4 gig Corsair ddr3 mem.
    PSW:     600W
    OS:      Win XP pro SP3
I'm aware that this is an old PCI-E 1.0 board and the card is designed around PCI-E 3.0, but the computer boots up and starts Windows just fine. Both the Bios and Windows detect the R7770 correctly. (I'd have thought if this was an issue - it wouldn't go past POST at all and begin beeping like crazy!)
To muddy the waters still further, as a experiment, I installed an old radeon card for test (a crappy Sapphire hd 2600 pro PCI-E version), which is about the same age as the rest of the system.
I couldn't find the drivers disk initally, so downloaded the relevant ones from Sapphire and AMD. Got EXACTLY the same problem as above: it looks as the drivers have installed but no Directx support (which is daft as I used to use that card games until I could afford to replace it with the 8800)
I tried everything I could think of for hours (including disabling driver signing security, stopping anti-virus software, trolling through the windows/ inf, System32 and System dirctories to weed out anything ATI - you name it) then miraculously found the old drivers for the HD 2600. Installed them with no probem at all - everything worked just as it should!
So, I looks to me like the XP drivers on the web are now garbage. Anyone else have similar problems or know of a workaround?
I'm not exactly rich so can't afford Win 7 or the dreaded Win 8  (which I loath) or a new PC, which is why i'm soldering on with this dinosaur!
The only thing I haven't done is splat Windows and do a clean install, do you think that'll help? If so why did the old radeon drivers work (win has been cleanly re-installed many a time since I last used that card, so there was no legacy junk lurcking in the windows diectory or it's registry)
Do you think I'd have better luck with NVidia? If so could you kindly recommend an alternative from them? I know an R7770 is a bit OTT for such an old system, but they are dirt cheap at the mo and not much more expensive than much less powerful cards.
Anyone have any thoughts about UBuntu? If it is a driver issue or there is no workaround, I may need to consider this route. Trouble is none of my legacy games will run on Linux and i'm not sure virtualization is available for my mboard.
Anyways, thanks for your time and for any suggestions you might make
    Regards
    Mike

Hi Flex, thanks for the quick reply and for the advice.
In the end i got it going by changing the boot.ini settings.
They were initially set with the /3GB /fastdetect switch to force the WinXp kernal to run in 1GB, and not take up 2GB as is it's default.
It was set that way to stop a 32bit game (KSP) crashing every 10 minutes or so, through lack of addressable memory.
All I did was simply set the boot.ini back to its default and directx sprung to life. I reset it back to 3GB to make sure it wasn't a fluke and as soon as I did, it killed directx again.
Maybe its a driver issue afterall - probably lack of proper XP support by AMD (This dosen't happen with the old- - 2008 vintage - version 4 ATI radeon drivers.) or perhaps its because the card has twice the memory over my old cards and therefore needs to access a higher portion of I/O allocation than is available in 32bit WinXP.
Its all a bit ironic really as i'm finding the R7770 runs like crap under dirx9 - i'm getting about 30% the frame rate of my old Nvida 8800GT and, as I can't use the 3GB switch anymore, it crashes every 5 mins or whenever I play any resource intensive game.
As the crashes are caused by lack of available address spaces under 32 bit systems, I've bitten the bullet and got 64bit Ubuntu. Got this working in the wee small hours last night - including the R7770 using the AMD catalyst drivers for Linux. Hopefully that will sort things out (and gimmie an excuse to learn a proper OS!)
Wish me luck i can see another "steep learning curve" on the horizon!
    Cheers
    Mike

  • SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (SSRS in SharePoint mode): Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

    Hello,
SSRS in SharePoint mode is driving me insane.
We are recreating a SharePoint 2013 (SP1) farm in a test environment with the following set-up:
    2 SP Web FrontEnds
    2 SP Application Servers
    1 SQL Server
At both SP APP Servers, we installed SSRS (SQL 2012 Enterprise w/ SP1) in SP integrated mode.
We managed to start the SSRS SP service at the first SP APP Server. However when we try to start it on the second APP Server, we get the following error:
"Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the SQL Server Reporting Services Service in the farm.  The SQL Server Reporting Services service cannot
be started on this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm. "
Now I can't stress this enough: This is a SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise. This is the image we got from our MSDN subscription. There is no mistake here.
Could someone please advise why SP might think this version of SSRS is not the correct one?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hello,
I'm afraid that is not it.
After a long, frustrating and strenuous investigation and troubleshooting, we found the problem.
The problem is the current ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP1 (x64) found at MSDN. Bear in mind that we downloaded this ISO from MSDN about a month ago.
As soon as we recreated the environment using the ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP2 (x64) found at MSDN, everything worked as expected -- and that includes running more than one SSRS in SharePoint mode.
Also bear in mind that we tried updating the SQL SP1 install with SP2 and subsequent cumulative updates but that never fixed the problem.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that ISO with SP1 slipstreamed in it that no matter the subsequent updates installed, SSRS in SharePoint mode fails to work properly on a multi-server environment. We went as far as SP2 with CU3 and nothing seemed
to fix the problem. And yes, we also performed manual updates to the SSRS and PowerPivot SharePoint MSI add-ins.
I am shocked and distraught to find out that I lost hours of work due to a dodgy ISO image.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi,
Please try to download the SP1 Edition of the rsSharePoint.msi
file and install it. You have to install the SP1 edition of RS if you are using SP 2013.

  • Problems with new display, "Input not supported"

So, I just got myself a new LCD screen (Acer AL2016WCbd) for my G4 (DP 1Ghz Quicksilver 2002 w/ 10.5 installed). The monitor seems to work alright and everything with my Windows box, but whenever I try to use it with my G4 the monitor goes black, flashes an error box saying "Input not supported," and then goes to sleep. It does show the boot screen... the gray background and Apple logo... but goes black after that.
I've tried rebooting, resetting the PMU, tried booting in Single User and Verbose mode, tried hooking the G4 up to another monitor and lowering the resolution to 800x600 @ 75Hz and then reconnecting the Acer, but no dice.
My only other ideas are to try hooking it up over DVI instead of VGA (though I'd need to get an adapter for that); playing around with a few different things in target disk mode by hooking it up to my laptop (which I don't currently have); and trying to boot from my Leopard install disk (when I find it). Might any of these things do any good? Is there anything else I haven't thought of? Or am I just wasting my time?

OK, so I can get the display working if I first boot up with another display, set the resolution to whatever I want it to be, then hotswap in the Acer that's been giving me the problems. But once I restart my computer I have to go through the whole process again. Either the tower isn't picking up on the display profile from the monitor or the monitor just isn't sending it to the tower.
My question now is: is there a way to for me to lock the resolution and refresh rate, so it always outputs at, say, 1680x1050 at 60Hz? Both Newegg and Acer have been giving me all kinds of (excuse me here) sh** about how they can't help me, so I really don't want to deal with them anymore by having to return/exchange the monitor or get it serviced. I mean, I know the thing works and I know the resolution I want it to run at. I just want to be able to lock it so Leopard doesn't revert to some unsupported output every time I reboot.
