120Hz monitor usage

NVidia GeForce GT 330M on the Core i7 MacBook Pro 15"
I have the Asus VG236H 120Hz 3D Vision LCD Monitor. I also have the DVI Dual-Link adapter from Apple that they assured me at the store would allow me to run the MacBook Pro at 120hz on the monitor.
So far, I have not been able to make any sort of changes in the Display prefs.
Am I doing something wrong?

Still working on the issue on my end.
Although I am using Windows on my Vaio, I would like to be able to hook a Macbook Pro up to the same monitor (I have the Dual Link DVI display port adapter)...but right now I'm more concerned with getting the Vaio working as that is my primary gaming laptop (want to bring the 120hz LCD + Vaio to lans).
No progress really yet so far....
BSteely - as far as I can tell, the laptop dock does do Dual Link (link: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1055 1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666055167&tab=featuresTab#specific ations ), but I'm not 100% on that. The cable is definitely dual link, but as you pointed out, wont help if the dock doesn't support it.
Hooking the monitor up either way, DVI-D using the dock or HDMI direct from the Vaio Z, Windows 7 doesn't detect the monitor, it just comes up as Generic PNP Monitor. It appears as you may be right about it not getting the EDID as I did somewhere get something about it not getting the DDC info.
Anyway..I'll keep you posted and if I get it working Ill try getting the MBPro to work.

Hi I was planning to buy the samsung 3D 23" Full 120hz monitor (LS23A750DS) to connect to my MBA late 2011, it has a displayport and an HDMI cable, does the mac support 120hz, I've been searching around and people say no but that is like 2 years ago so I want an updated answer. And if it does what cable should I get to connect to the monitor?

As the signal is digital your TV will be seen by the MacBook as 1080 PAL or NTSC with no options to change the refresh rate, but will work fine. We use a similar model as a presentation screen.
As it turns out a LS23A750DS really is a monitor and not a TV (I initially thought it was a TV too). So it may be that the EDID info sent from the monitor to the computer may (or may not) include refresh rate options. That is why I couldn't definitively say whether such options would be presented by the Displays preferences.

Allocating Bandwidth and monitoring usage by device

Can this ben done? I'd like to limit bandwidth to one of my computers, also monitor usage by device.

If your goal is to prevent users on your local network to be able to go to certain websites or category of websites, two simple solutions would be: DynDNS and OpenDNS.
If you are looking at tools that monitor network traffic, there a quite a few out there ... ranging from free to ultra expensive. The latter aimed at corporate or governmental use. One such product for both home or commercial use is Net Monitor.

7970 lightning with 120hz monitor

I got myself a 7970 lightning yesterday. I have a 120hz monitor that has hdmi and dvi output. i see that lightning has sinle link dvi's. how can i connect my monitor to my card. is mini displayports capable of 120hz and should i use mini dp to dvi adapter? if there is something like that.

This is referred to as SQL generating SQL. It is most useful when you need to generate SQL statements for all indexes or indexes for one user. After generating the text you then would execute it in SQLPlus or the tool of your choice. If you combine this with a spool statement, SPOOL MyGeneratedScript.SQL you can run it with @MyGeneratedScript in SQLPlus. I combine this into a script which generates the file, calls the editor so you can look it over and then executes it. Here is an example of moving indexes to a different tablespace.

Real-Time 120fps web video now possible! (for 120Hz monitor users)

With the emergence of "120fps" cameras (Galaxy S4, GoPro Hero 3, Casio EX-FC200S, and the upcoming iPhone 5S), Blur Busters did some research on a distribution medium for playing back 120fps videos in real-time. We have discovered some good news.
(1) Presently, 120Hz monitors are quite popular among high-end video game players. There are more than a dozen models avaialble:

In general, any machine capable of playing back 1080p@60fps, is easily capable of playing back 720p@120fps. Both are pretty similiar bitrates. Also, some websites (www.testufo.com using Chrome browser) also shows that it's now possible in some web browsers to automatically detect the refresh rate of a web visitor, so you can present 120fps videos automatically only to 120Hz visitors.
I want to make sure that Adobe Premiere Pro is capable of converting 120fps slow-mo into 120fps real-time, as a natively-encoded 120fps H.264 video file?

I need an answer to this question as I'm getting more than one inquiry (I run Blur Busters) and I want to help people be able to create 120fps videos.
Do I recommend continuing using Adobe, or do I refer them to a competitor's product if it's the only way to output 120fps????
Even plain free tools such as ffmpeg can do 120fps!
Some people are starting to think abot 120fps editing (e.g. http://www.hfrmovies.com/tag/120-fps/ ...) so this is an emerging area that Adobe also needs to pay attention to.
The 120fps distribution medium is already here today, and it's called "web browsers running on a 120Hz computer monitor".

120hz Monitor with early 2011 MBP?

Hello. I have this question: I want to buy a 120hz monitor for playing Quake Live, so the gaming is smoother. My question is if the AMD Radeon HD 6500M will be compatible with the 120hz of the monitor, since I know some graphic cards don't support those much hz.
I know I have to use a Dual Link DVI cable and not an HDMI. My question is if my graphic card will hold on. I have an early 2011 15' Macbook Pro. Thanks.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

We are not necessarily looking for performance data but how many times a bsp and/or function module is called. The idea is to try and determine how many calls are made to SWN_WIEXECUTE BSP via a URL (http://<hostname>:xxxx/bc/bsp/sap/SWN_WIEXECUTE/MAIN.DO to track a usage of a new workflow approval/rejection process.
We also want track how many calls are made to SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE function module to track approval/rejection of a workflow process via Portal UWL.

How To: Monitor usage of a connection pool

So I have a bunch of EJBs using a DB connection pool hosted under iAS
6sp2 on Solaris. How do I monitor pool usage? I would like to see
available pooled connections and in use connections - that would refresh
periodically.
The iAST tool has the monitor thing, which I turned on and added some
plots (active connection, and something else)...but those plots flat
lined and never showed any activity nor usefull information.
Can you hook up SNMP to an iAS? What about JMX? What are other
suggestions?

You can enable debug ( level = 1 ) at the pool level. This would throw some additonal information into kjs log. Unfortunately there is no time stamp with these lines. But you will get an ides of how your pool is performing during the test.

I understand your frustration of receiving a bill that isn't what you expected but sometimes this happened because a number of possible things that may have been over looked or even simply a possible error but I have to point out that the usage automated system updates daily but isn't guaranteed to be 100% reliable because of a number of different variables that could cause the information to be off. My suggestion is to use the #BAL from the device or #MIN to check usage, these are usually closer to the correct usage balance.
Another got suggestion to avoid this from happening is to log into your MyVerizon app on your device or online and keep track of your activity there..

How do I monitor usage going through my WRT610N. COMCAST limits

I have been looking all over the net for a simple network monitor. I am looking for a freeware program that will monitor all my upload and download usage. I have comcast and I cannot go over 250 G a month. I know that is alot but my roommate has a computer and I have a PS3 and XBOX360 hooked up to my router. All I need to do is monitor monthly what upload and download traffic that is going from my modem to my router. And please something that is easy to setup and control and read. Some of the programs I have seen are crazy hard. I am in no way a Network Guru. Thank you in advance..

Correct, but if he and his roommate install the utility on their PCs, it's highly unlikely that the xbox or ps3 will take up anywhere close to what 2 people using their computers will take, and they'll have an idea of what they're using combined.

If you think/suspect or are worried that you're taking up a whole lot of data on your consoles then another option would be to try to find a wrt54g or wrt54gs for really cheap someplace, possibly used or a refurb and then just slap on Tomato firmware. You'll have to find V1-V4 router, the newer ones V5 and later don't accept the Tomato FW. Check out the Tomato FW website to see what routers are fully compat.
You can stick the wrt54g/s before the wrt610n but route your internet connection directly to the wrt610n to get the firewall features etc. Tomato firmware has a bandwidth usage monitor built in. Every few weeks, check your wrt54g and see how close you are to the 250GB cap.
Those are the only 2 things I can think of, and I believe that either option would be better than Comcast suspending or banning you (which they will do if you're over 3 or so consecutive months in a row or over by a huge amount in 1 month).

What do you mean exactly with disconnecting and connecting?
Does the display switch to the internal and external display or the display on the external monitor goes simply off.
Did you check the connection to the notebooks monitor port?

To turn Messages off, you'll need to turn it off in the Messages setting, and then set up Restrictions and disallow changes to accounts. Otherwise your child can just turn it right back on. For more information, see:

This presumes that your iPhone is running iOS 6. The option to disable Messages is not present in iOS 5, if my memory is correct.
