1280 x 1024 Export for computer

All:
I am a CS3 User.
I have several videos that I need to export to show well on 1280 x 1024 large monitor for a trade show.
I had exported as a "NTSC Widescreen" and the quality was there, but the customer did not want that black space surrounding the video, but instead wants to movie to "fill the screen"; or at least most of it.
Can anyone give me ideas of the best setting to use for such an export? Otherwise I am just spending many hours experimenting with various settings for export. This will be used at a Trade Show.
Also usefill info for exporting quickly would be appreciated.
Thanks very much!
Just call me,
Workin' late.....

HI,
That sounds like fun...I never did anything like that...but if I had to try I would probably do this:
Make a project file that duplicates everything my source video is ( fps, progressive or interlaced , aspect ratio , audio, etc ) EXCEPT the frame size dimensions, which I would make the same as the monitor at the trade show.... ( using desktop, custom settings for this..no preset )..
Then with my asset in that timeline I would basically SCALE the video to fill that frame size as best I could to use most of the space...
Then I would export avi uncompressed ( the settings depend on the source )....maybe using lagarith codec -- I have no idea as you didnt supply any info about what you actually HAVE for your video etc.

  • Export for computer viewing.  H264?

I exported my 33 minute FCE film as Export>QuickTime Movie and got a beautiful end result and a file size of 13.47 GB, all as I expected. I will use iDVD to make a DVD of the film from this QuickTime movie.
I would like to export another version of the movie to keep on my internal hard drive purely for viewing on the computer (no additional editing or burning to DVD). Although I would like to have decent quality for this version, my main concern is to end up with a relatively small file size. It doesn't have to be tiny, but certainly smaller than 13.47 GB.
I intend to use Export>QuickTime Conversion, but have some questions about how to accomplish what I want. First, though…..
    My video is:
    Frame size: 1280x720
    Vid rate: 29.97fps
    Compressor: Apple Intermediate Codec
    My audio is:
    Aud Rate: 48.0 KHz
    Aud Format: 16-bit integer
    Data rate: 187.5 K/sec
My sequence settings match my video and audio.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Is h264 the compressor I should use?
    2. The default video settings for h264 are:
    Quality: High
    Key frame rate: 24
    Frame reordering: yes
    Encoding mode: multi-pass
    Dimensions: 556x313 (Current)
Are those the settings I should use? And why are the dimensions stated as 556x313 (Current) even though my video in FCE is 1280x720?
(The default audio settings match my audio settings in FCE so I assume they're fine.)
    3. Since I don't intend to put the movie on the Internet, should I uncheck "Prepare for Internet Streaming"?
    4. I started an export using these settings and got an estimate that it was going to take over three hours to finish the export. That's significantly longer than it took to export the original Export>QuickTime Movie version. Does that seem right?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve
    1. Is h264 the compressor I should use?
Yes - right now H.264 is pretty much the go-to codec for universal video playback. It's a highly compressed codec (meaning that it generally requires a more powerful processor for playback) but gives you great quality at relatively small file sizes.
    2. ... Are those the settings I should use? And why are the dimensions stated as 556x313 (Current) even though my video in FCE is 1280x720?
The dimensions will be whatever the size of your Quicktime window. So if you've reduced your QT playback window, you'll see those values are smaller than expected. You can change this to full-frame if you want to keep your true frame size.
Yes, you can turn off Internet Streaming.
    4. I started an export using these settings and got an estimate that it was going to take over three hours to finish the export. That's significantly longer than it took to export the original Export>QuickTime Movie version. Does that seem right?
Yes, and here's why. When you originally exported from FCE, the system wasn't doing any transcoding. It was using the same codec and frame size as the raw video you're working with. That's why the file size is so large. When you export to a more compressed codec, like H.264, there's a lot of processing to be done. The speed of your system will greatly affect the time that this takes. Three hours for a half hour piece is not unheard of. Perhaps you can run it overnight?

  • Digital Input Cannot Display this Video Mode Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60hz.

HP Pavilion h8-1360t, Windows7 home premium 64-bit,  AMD Radeon HD 7570 graphics card.
error message: Digital Input Cannot Display this Video Mode Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60hz.
I get the error message as soon as Windows opens and the desktop displays.  Then it goes black with that message.  I've been using the computer for awhile and I had it so that when I maximized a window it would go across both screens.  I have two monitors on the graphics card.  Somehow I changed the settings so that a program would maximize to one monitor or the other.   That is how I want it to work.  Maybe I activated HydraVision.  Now I have the problem when I start.
Also now when I boot to Safe Mode I get the message that there is no AMD graphics driver installed, or it is not functioning properly.  I have tried to update it and the computer tells me I have the most recent version installed.   I would like to uninstall it and reinstall it, but I'm a little worried I won't get it installed and be without video.  Something like that happened to me once before years ago.
Could someone tell me what I should do please?
    Thanks,
    Jim Allen

    HP support is here:
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/contact.html
In safe mode you should uninstall the driver, then try to boot normal again.
Then check if driver was installed by win7.
If not go go AMD website and download latest driver for your card.

  • Edit Color Sync for Exports for Web Sites

    Hi,
Perhaps this has been covered, but I've not found the thread. Most of the export color sync questions seem to revolve around printing or displaying on one's own monitor. Neither is an issue for me. However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out. Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB. I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile; however, my default EXIF - Expanded shows "Color Model" as simply "RGB", and "Profile Name" is Adobe RGB (1998) (my Canon 50D is set to sRGB). Again, I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors. Where/how can I change the export for uploading jpg's to the web.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile
If the profile were proprietary, it would be an illegal profile under the ICC Specification.
However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out.
If you did not disable embedding of an ICC source colour space in Aperture, if you did not use a non-ICC enabled browser, the OS X system level services will set up a ColorWorld and convert the pixels in your JPEGs matching from the ICC source colour space to the ICC destination colour space of your display. Thus you will get what you uploaded in the first place.
I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors.
The idea is that each and every colour device is calibrated and that calibration is captured in a colourimetric colour characterisation from which an ICC colour device profile is computed. Colourants that form certain colours one one colour device at one calibration will form other colours in the same colour device at another calibration and in other colour devices at yet other calibrations. By means of device profiles, the COLOURS can be kept constant while the COLOURANTS are recomputed to compel the device to paint the closest possible match it is capable of.
Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB.
The issue is whether people who post pictures do or do not embed ICC source colour spaces into their pictures and whether they pick browsers that are ICC-enabled or pick colour blind browsers.
To determine if there is an embedded ICC source colour space in a picture, download the picture to disk, open iApple Preview and select Tools > Get Info > Summary.
Colour Model: This defines the format or model of the colourants, e.g. three component RGB, four component CMYK.
ColorSync Profile: This defines the ICC source colour space. If there is none in the image file, the system level service assigns the Generic RGB Profile for model RGB, the Generic CMYK Profile for model CMYK and so forth. Therefore, any ICC source colour space than a Generic Profile source colour space is embedded in the image file itself.
In technical terms, the rule is that to construct a ColourWorld that does a colour space conversion through the PCS Profile Connection Space, you have to have an ICC source colour space and an ICC destination colour space (typically your display profile). It follows that the system level service ASSIGNS an ICC source colour space automatically where is none embedded. The ICC source colour space that is assigned when there is none embedded is the Generic RGB Profile for colourant model RGB, as explained.

  • Help Please: Can't run 1280 x 1024 after update (Solved)

My display has changed to 1024 x 768, and my monitor is not listed in gnome display settings.  Was working fine up until only minutes ago.  Display went to sleep while I was away and when I woke it the settings were changed.
    What can I do?
    Thank you. Brian
    Edit:
After looking around I think my xorg.conf file changed.
When I re-run 'Xorg -configure' it returns an error stating that the number of screens detected does not match...
The current log file Xorg.0.log [1], an old log file Xorg.12.0.log [2], and the log from the configure command above Xorg.configure.log [3] can be viewed here.

With these, I'm not sure running "xrandr -s 1280x1024" will work.
I think you need to use something like:
    Section "Monitor0"
    Identifier "VGA-1"
    Modeline "1280x1024_75.00" 138.75 1280 1368 1504 1728 1024 1027 1034 1072 -hsync +vsync
    Option "PreferredMode" "1280x1024_75.00"
    EndSection
Use the "official" modeline calculator to get the Modeline (refresh rates from the manufacturer website, I hope), restart X, and there you have it. It worked for someone once: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=140496

  • HELP! QT file deteriorates around halfway when exporting for web

I have an iMovie project that I have regularly exported to DVDs or other quicktime files: only when I export "for the web" this file (a 1G file that gets compressed to about 18MB for the web) deteriorates, starts to blur as if losing sync with the codec. When I work in iMovie the file is perfect, when I tried to export it into one (or two) small .mov it deteriorates. I tried everything, including re-exporting to a new original and re-importing, splitting the file in shorter segments etc. At a specific point in the movie, it just falls apart.
I was wondering if any of you had some suggestion.

You could try duplicating the iMovie project, replacing the video clip which plays at the point that the movie deteriorates with -anything else- and then export again to see if the problem is related specifically to that one video clip.
If not, then perhaps trying the export from another user account or on another computer would help determine if settings or software versions are an issue.
If it is the one particular clip, try converting that clip to some other format prior to importing to iMovie and then exporting again ?

It doesn't work for me if I just maintain * entry.
But it works after I maintained specific IP address into the table,
ref notes:2072995 - User has no access authorization for computer
    Cause
The message comes after the implementation of note '1605054 - Restriction in access to FTP Servers & usage of test reports' or upgrading to a
support package that contains this note. This note was created to prevent malicious users from accessing remote FTP servers.
    Resolution
    1. Please ensure that all manual steps from note 1605054 are implemented in your system along with the code corrections
    2. Then please enter the allowed FTP servers into the table SAPFTP_SERVERS or enter ‘*’ to allow all FTP servers.

  • Exporting for Windows Media Player?

I work on a Mac and am switching from FCP. In FCP the option was to export as QT or h.264. I'm noticing in CS5.5 on a Mac that there is no .WMV option.
    1. Is .WMV not used anymore?
    2. What is the best format to export for Windows users?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jim,
post your exact export options (screen capture of the AME gui video, audio & multiplexer tabs will suffice) - I'll have a look for you.
MP4[h.264 + pcm] or MP4[h.264 + aac] etc should absolutely play on Windows 7 (and Vista?). Now if it's Windows XP then yes I don't think h.264 is supported as a video codec and it also doesn't understand the MP4 container.
!tip! if you bring up WMP->Help->About then click on the bottom "Technical Support Information" you'll get a page showing all the codecs WMP has to work with.
eg here is my virgin work computer (windows 7) that plays mp4[h.264] just fine...

  • Exporting for earlier flash plugin with CS5.5

    Hi,
I am making a flash site for someone at www.danielkidane.com, and I am creating it using flash CS 5.5 Pro. I have set the publish settings for flash player 9, yet my client who is running flash plugin 10.3 is still receiving a message asking him to download 11.1.
Other Sites I have created previously in CS 3 such as www.absolutionsaxophonequartet.com work fine on his computer, so I think there should be a way of exporting for his flash plugin. He is also on a mac...i dont know if this makes any difference!
    Thanks very Much
    Fraser

Is it possible that you are generating the html for the Flash from Flash also? If so, the html may have a plugin test that is testing for the latest version rather than the one that you are trying to use.

  • Screen Resolution - want to go to 1280 x 1024 from 1024 x 768 !!

Is there any way of increasing the screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 from 1024 x 768 ??

Unsupported screen resolutions generally are not possible on internal
displays; some screen spanning software (unsupported by Apple?)
and ResX third-party patches may allow you to use those higher res-
olutions on an external display. But since they are not supported
officially by Apple, any hack to your system software/hardware which
could result in hardware damages to the computer will not be covered
under any Apple warranties on your computer.
So, were you trying to change the internal display's resolution beyond
specs or try running a different res external display?!
Best of luck in your experimentation.

  • How do I batch "Export For Web" from Quicktime, one at a time

I have 20 quicktime movies in folder A.
I would like to "Export for Web" for all 3 options (iPhone, iPhone (cellular), and Desktop) to folder B.
How do I create an automator script to complete this action one at a time, until they are finished converting?
Also, I do not want to delete the originals.
I have never used Automator, but I'm guessing it should be easy to execute a shut down command when it is done...
    Thanks a lot!

iTunes does not handle the import of photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
If this is not the computer you sync your iPhone with, you should have been provided a warning message that your iPhone is associated with an iTunes library on another computer and when trying to transfer any iTunes content from a different computer, a warning message is provided indicating that all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first.
When connecting an iPhone to iTunes on another computer, none of the options under the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes are selected automatically. This means you had to select Sync Contacts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your wife's computer.
Assuming you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, connect your iPhone to Tunes on your computer and without syncing, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences below the Advanced section, select Contacts for replace info on this iPhone followed by a sync.
For importing photos/videos from the Camera Roll which can be done with a computer that is not used for syncing the iPhone since syncing with iTunes is not involved.

  • QT Pro Export for Web--poster doesn't work in Firefox or IE, only Safari

Hi QuickTime gurus (within Apple and in the 'real world
I had thought that when you Export for Web in QuickTime Player Pro, the 'poster' movie would display in all browsers, on Mac and Windows.
Unfortunately, the poster does NOT work in Firefox (neither Mac nor Windows) nor in IE. It only works in Safari.
    See this example - http://www.wellesley.edu/~kenny/a.html
Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with the JavaScript such that it doesn't work in all browsers, or....?
    Thanks...k

    Ok here try this:
    http://setfreedenver.org/a/readme.html
And here's the zip file for the above.
    http://setfreedenver.org/a.zip
You should have four files in the folder that makes everything for the video in the html:
video.m4v This is the actual video that plays.
video.mov This is the referance video that points to video.m4v
poster.jpg This is the poster frame.
html.html This is the html for the above video to play in.
Move one of the above to somewhere else and it will break the video playing in the html.
    Sidebar:
I couldn't get this to work on my server. I had to go to my server control panel (somewhere out there in Texas) and make a MIME Type setting for the .m4v, so the video could play. Not all servers are setup to play different kinds of videos, documents or images. So, if you ever run across something that plays locally on your computer and not on your sever and your at your wits end.. Contact you server administrator and have them check the MINE setting on the server.

  • Exporting For YouTube - Premiere Pro CS5 (Canon XL2)

I shot a promo video with my Canon XL2, and would like to upload the finished product to YouTube at the highest possible quality in order to help promote the company I work for.
Footage shot in 30p at 29.97 fps, 16:9 - NTSC.
Sequence settings are all correct and match my footage perfectly.
I have exported the video as H.264, AVI, MOV, MP4, MP2, WMV and countless other formats. When played on my computer the video quality is SUPERB. I am ecstatic at how it turned out, HOWEVER, when I upload the video -in any format- to YouTube, it looks absolutely horrible - as though it were shot with a webcam.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I might be doing wrong? Anyone had any experience with the XL-2 and Premiere Pro videos being ugly when uploaded to YouTube?
    Thanks a bunch!

Be very careful when using Adobe's presents for YouTube, Vimeo, etc.  They have a fixed frame rate but it doesn't always match your source frame rate and this adds additional render time and can drop or add (adding is much worse) frames.
The worst offender is a preset that is for non drop-frame 30.0 fps (instead of drop frame 29.97) because every 3 seconds 3 frames get added.
Also be aware that when exporting for the web (or most anything other than to DVD), you want to use square pixels.
This might require a bit of tweaking with the presets but it is well worth the effort.
864x480 is the square pixel equivalent to 720x480 widescreen (1.21...).
For more indepth info on the presets (and my rants on the matter) - have a look at my CS5 and C5.5 articles.

  • What is the best way to export for use on internet?

what is the best way to export for use on internet?

It depends. Is this for a personal web site or for a site like YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook?
For YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook, use Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD using one of the YouTube presets.

  • FCE and Export for Apple TV

I want to be able to use FCE to edit my HD footage from my Sony HD7 camcorder then display results through Apple TV. I know I will lose resolution, but am having one particular problem. After importing clips to FCE I exported to Quicktime movie, then opened the file in Quicktime and exported to Apple TV. The resulting video seems "jerky" at least to my eyes. Almost like every other frame was cut out. Do I need to export from FCE at a different resolution or frame rate to get the export to Apple TV looking better?
    Thanks all for the help.

Thanks Tom. Could be just my eyes seeing the difference in the results, but here are the details.
    Original File from Sony HDR-HC7
    Video Tracks:
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps, 98.77 Mbps
    Audio Tracks:
16-bit Big Endian stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps
Export direct as QuickTime movie and conversion to Apple TV seems to show some jagged sharp motion to my eyes, so I tried the steps below and got a more fluid result.
The exported from FCE to 1280 x 720 with these settings:
    Compression: H.264
    Quality: High
    Key Frame Rate: 24
    Frame Rendering: Yes
    Encoding Mode” multi-pass
    Dimensions: 1280 x 720
Results of export from Final Cut
    H.264, 1280 x 720, 29.97 fps, 17.48 Mbps
16-bit Big Endian stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps
Then converting that to Apple TV file (opened in QuickTime and used export for Apple TV):
    Video Tracks:
    H.264, 960 x 540, 29.97 fps, 3.81 Mbps
Could be that Export to QuickTime Movie makes an Apple Intermediate Codec file and the export using QT conversion made an H264 codec. Perhaps there is a difference in the way the QT function "export to Apple TV" handles those two codecs???
