1280x720 30p prores to h.264 errors quicktime-50

HI,
I've done this dozens of times but now it's not working.
Taking 1280X720 30p Sony EX footage captured to prores in FCP then export to QT movie. Dragged that .mov to compressor onto my vimeo settings which abbreviated are:
1280x720 6000kbps LAN streaming presets with a text overlay. nothing that special. keyframes 30
Yesterday the 3 min clip took over 14 hours before it gave me a "quicktime error-50"
Right now I'm trying to go straight out to compressor from FCP and it looks like it's going REALLY slow I really hate having to re-install compressor. It seems like an every 3 month deal that kills a few days.
Please help, I'm praying that I don't need to reinstall. Any and all help is truly appreciated!

Had to re-install the entire fing suite again. Yay. That answered it.

Hello, when i export my work i have always the same error quicktime -50 or error quicktime 0, do you have any solutions ??
I cut my project : same error

    Many thanks for any help

    From Crash Analyzer:
    -50 (QuickTime)
This error occurs when there is corrupt or invalid media in your timeline. Check that the codec used by the file is recommended for use in your editing application.
    Suggested Actions
For best results, convert all long-GOP media to ProRes.
Make sure all images are RGB, not CMYK.
Ideally ensure all images are less than 4000 pixels in width and height.
Use Corrupt Clip Finder to locate the corrupt clip.
After the corrupt file is located, use QT Repair or Media Salvage to fix it.
Make sure your files do not have Digital Rights Management (DRM) that prevent them being played outside of their intended application. Some files purchased from the iTunes Store will have DRM.
Make sure you are using AIFF or WAV audio files.

  • Processing service request error: QuickTime Error: -50? ***?

Hey everyone, trying to export a movie from FinalCut Pro X with compressor and when compressor gets to the end I get this error and no file
Processing service request error: QuickTime Error: -50
    What is going on?
Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.7

    Got this error -50 too.
At first thought it could be due to incompatible format but when I isolate it, it was alright.
But when I change my ext HDD, the problem stops. Weird.
My guess is maybe due to insufficient memory space (well at least for me).
    Good luck ...

  • "Share Error: Quicktime 0" error message in FCP - any ideas why?

Getting an error that states "Share Error: Quicktime 0" when using the share function to write to blu-ray. Of course, this comes at about 3 hours into a four hour encode, and of course everything is lost after this completely useless message. I've got the most recent version of QT, all the updates have been added, etc.
I burned one BD and one BD on DVD with no problems, and nothings changed. I've gotten this error twice in a row now, and rendering for three hours just to get this is beyond annoying.

See if anything here helps: iPod not recognized correctly on Toshiba laptop

  • After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108)

I am using CS3 After Effects and have been receiving this After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108).  Can anyone help with this issue?
I am using a Mac Pro 6-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz with 6 memory slots at 1GB DDR3 ECC at Speed 1333MHz.

Sounds like one of those many "old version of AE on new hardware" issues... You may need to fiddle with Rosetta or install it in teh first place, if you haven't already and you may also require a specific older version of Quicktime...

  • ProRes 422 Not Playing in QuickTime 7.6 or FCP5

I am trying to edit footage exported from REDrushes with the QuickTime ProRes 422 codec. After I export the file it does not play in either FCP5 or QuickTime 7.6. Under the "Show Movie Properties" in QuickTime, the video shows the "Video Track" having a duration of "0.00". I'm not sure why this would be happening. As always, I've got a quick deadline for this project, so any advice would be greatly appreciate!!! Thanks!!

Apple ProRes 422 was introduced with Final Cut Studio 2 which means Final Cut Pro 6. Unless you've installed Final Cut Studio 2 on your Mac, you won't have the required software to play ProRes in Final Cut or QuickTime.

Something is wrong in the export settings. Try different export format, bit rate, or resolution.

  • IPhoto '08, Microsoft Word 2004 and an error: QuickTime and TIFF

    Hi,
When I drag and drop photos from iPhoto into Word, I get the following error:
QuickTime and a TIFF (decompressor) are required to see the picture.
The image is placemarked with a black border with the error message in the center. iPhoto indicates that the picture is JPEG. I have also discovered that dragging the picture to the desktop and then into Word works fine.
I checked the console log and found the following:

    Hi
This sounds like a problem that's been discussed many times. If you use the Search button (select more options) and change the 'Restrict by Date Range' to something like 'Last Year' you should find something? You might want to read these:

  • QuickTime Newb... Converting MPEG-2 to H.264 - ERRORS :-(

I’ve just purchased and downloaded both the MPEG-2 playback add-on for QuickTime PRO 7.1.3 as well as QT Pro it's self
And I am in the process of trying to convert (encode) some video files into QuickTime *.mov files, using the H.264 codec… and every time I try it gets about 20% thru the video file and freezes and then a windows error appears.
I’ve taken multiple screenshots of the errors:
    http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c155/ChrisRut/quicktime/qt_error1.jpg
    http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c155/ChrisRut/quicktime/qt_error2.jpg

    http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c155/ChrisRut/quicktime/qt_error4.jpg
I was looking forward to using QuickTime to help me publish some home videos of mine on a website. But now I am beginning to regret my purchase decision. I might just stick with DivX... But now I am out $50
Please help me resolve these issues.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Chris

I forgot to upload the text file that was given in screenshot #3 (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c155/ChrisRut/quicktime/qt_error3.jpg)...
So I re-ran it again and got a new error log file.
It's rather large for a text file (126KB)
So Here is a link to download it: http://rapidshare.de/files/33028502/9afe_appcompat.txt.html
Hope this will help find a solution.

  • Apple Animation 1280x720 to ProRes codec??

A friend of mine is receiving Quicktime files that have been doctored in After Effects (PC). What I see is an Apple Animation Quicktime 1280x720 ... where everything but the subject matter has been blacked out: nicely matted so the black becomes transparent. It's obviously an alternative to Green or Bluescreen. Her computer can't handle the file size of that particular codec. It just chokes on playback the moment other tracks are added.
I'm wondering if there is a way to convert the animation file to something in ProRes and still maintain the alpha channel or whatever it is that he has created to do the matte. I tried to do a conversion from the Apple Animation to ProRes SD 16:9 (something the computer could handle), but whatever is causing the matte was flattened, so the black no longer has any transparency ... and no setting in the composite modes does the trick.
I'm in unfamiliar territory. I can't reach the fellow doing the matting - I talked to him briefly a week ago to find out he is on a PC After Effects and can't do ProRes or some other of the more familiar Apple/FCP formats.
Could anyone suggest something? A way to convert to a smaller footprint format, and maintain whatever it is in the Apple Animation file that's creating the black transparency?
    All ears,
    Ben

    Hi -
I am not sure what the problems is - unless she is using a very high horsepower computer with a lightning fast RAID, she is going to have to render when she drops the Animation to the timeline - therefore I would just edit the animation to the timeline, make whatever scale and position changes she needs to make to get it to fit above her background video properly, and let it render. The rendering will composite the animation on the background in the codec and frame size of her sequence, and she should get real time playback as soon as the render is done.
    Unless, I misunderstood the question . . .

  • Encoding to high profile h.264 with quicktime (7 pro) export

Is there anyway to encode high profile h264 with quicktime export ?
Been using a canon HF100 for years now, and my goal is to edit and export my movies to h264 with the least quality lost. I can edit(trimming and merging) without quality loss. My endresult is in AIC codec, but when I export it to H264 in quicktime, in the highest settings, I can still see quality(or actually, color depth) loss in low light scenes.
Even with a bitrate which is almost identical to the AIC file...
    I have a 130.2Mb (52.7Mbps) h264 main@Level 5 with 2 reference frames/second clip that looks worse the the original AIC file(56.9Mbps) of 143.8Mb
The canon HF100 records in high profile at level 4.0 (high@L4) with 17Mbps. It does 2 reference frames per second and CABAC.
So in theory exporting my projects at 17Mbps should be enough, if only the right settings where available in quicktime export.
Is there anyway to convert AIC to High profile settings, CABAC(available in main profile but not used bij quicktime in h264 output) on the MAC ?
    My workflow:
    1. I use shedworx VoltaicHD to convert my AVCHD files to AIC (pretty much lossles)
    2. I use Imovie 6 to create a new Project in the following structure: HDV1080i
    3. I don't import the AIC files with iMovie but I dump them with Finder in the "media" folder of the Imovie project.(This way I can maintain the 1920x1080 resolution, with importing it gets 1440x1080)
    4. Then I open the project in Imovie, open the trashcan and see my movie clips.
    5. Then the trimming, cutting and merging begins, no use of effects(adding effects creates 1440x1080 video)
    6. Time for export with quicktime h264 codec.

    Hi MartinR,
    Some answers on your thoughts:
"You have an AVCHD camcorder. Where did you get the technical information that it records HiProfile/Level 4/2 ref frames per sec/CABAC?"
-I'v dropped some original mts files from my camera on a program called "mediainfo" from sourceforge net.
"VoltaicHD's conversion isn't exactly 1920x1080, either. Open one of your AIC files in QT Player, do Window > Show Movie Inspector and tell us what it says for format and fps. 1440x1080? 1888x1062?"
-Both mediainfo and quicktime (7 pro and the new quicktime) show in their info that the movie format from voltaicHD file is 1920x1080.
But I can remember I've seen the 1888x1062 resolution in the info in the past. Maybe things where changed by a new version of voltaic or an update by quicktime ?
" certainly understand your efforts to get the results you want with what you have on hand. However you will be better off with iMovie11 and/or Final Cut Express 4 or Final Cut Studio 6. FCP 6 by the way supports ProRes which, if you are very driven for the highest technical qualities, would be the way to go."
I thought about buying imovie 11 in the app store. For 11,99 euro's it's a bargain!
But a little search on the forums kept me from buying it.
My camera puts out interlaced files, even when I record progressive. This is done by most camera manufacturers for compatibility on blu ray players and older lcd and plasma tv's.
Now it seems that if you use effects in imovie 11, it drops half the fields, resulting in 960x540 resolution...In that case imovie 6 with 1440x1080 supported effects is still better.
The same 1440x1080 limitations seems to exist in Final cut express 4.
I know the backdoor in imvie06 works, you can see the 1920 to 1440 resolution drop with your own eyes when effects are added. The drop is only visible in the frames that contain a special effect, the rest of the exported movie is untouched and still 1920.
I did some thinking, and what bothers me the most is that exporting the movie results in loss of color depth/detail. I could imagine that if I could use Prores422 instead of AIC, which is only available in FCP (999Euro's!). That the end result is better, but I'm not sure.
Could be that the colors of the original movie file are spread more over the range because it supports 10 bit sample depth instead of 8. Even when that is true, I am not sure if the h.264 codec will tread it different and maintains some more color depth.
And for fact the avchd files are 4:2:0 and not 4:2:2.
Do you or anyone know if there is any different in quality in an exported to h.264 pro resolution file or an AIC file. Even when the source is 8 bit 4:2:0 ?

  • Error opening video files - mp4 h.264 - Error -50: an unknown error

Whenever I try and load a movie in Quicktime then I get the message:
"Error -50: an unknown error occurred" and then it fails to load. Quicktime appears to be left running in the background, but there is no GUI.
The player can be launched without a file, but once loading a file it gives the same error.
I am specifically trying to load camcorder MP4 (H264) files, but this appears to happen with other file formats as well.
I have tried uninstalling from control-panel and then downloading and installing the latest version, but this still doesn't work.
A search shows that lots of other people are having the same problem, but the only solution appears to be to install an older version of Quicktime. Is that a real solution? Is there somewhere that the older versions can be downloaded from?
More relevant is there some fix that allows this to work in the latest version?
    I am running Windows Vista
    Thanks

Thanks - that will help with playing the video. Unfortunately that doesn't solve all of my problems. I have Adobe Premiere Elements, which uses Quicktime when importing H.264 (it doesn't have a native import, but instead calls Quicktime as requried). As Quicktime doesn't work this means that I'm unable to import into Premiere Elements.
I'm still looking for a way to get Quicktime working. This seams to be a bug in Quicktime as others seam to have the same problem.

  • Compressor Error: "QuickTime Error: -6662"

Anybody know what "QuickTime Error -6662" is? I got this after a failed encoding. I was trying to transcode DV25 material down to the iPod format.(H.264 for iPod)

Interestingly, I modified the Compressor iPod preset to not do MultiPass and Compressor handles the files fine. Perhaps it did run out of memory, though the machine that I'm using has 2GB of RAM plus a lot of HD to spare. Perhaps the multipass mis-manages the memory? Or perhaps it did indeed just run out. Is there a recommendation for free HD space?(if Compressor caches to the drive)
