12c Console reports two agents on one target, I don't understand why

Greetings,
I have completed the installation and upgrade from 11g to OEM12c Cloud Control using the 2-System method and am in the process of deploying/configuring the 12c agents on numerous hosts. On one particular host after successful deployment/configuration of the 12c agent I bring up the 12c console, choose the target in question (there were metric collection errors but those were resolved, not sure if that is pertinent), drill down and under the hosts tab choose related targets. I see two agents displayed.
One agent, the active one is displayed as <hostname>:3872 and is up. The other is displayed as agent12c1_3_<hostname> and shows as n/a. Drilling down to the <hostname>:3872 shows the metrics and performance information of the agent and all is well. But under the monitored targets it lists the agent12c1_3_<hostname> agent and a database target named <sid>.<domain>oracledatabase_home. Both are listed as n/a.
Drilling down to the agent12c1_3_<hostname> agent shows tabs for products, patchsets and a list of patches which have been applied.
From the setup -> agents dropdown this agent does not appear. This second agent did not appear when the host was viewd using the 11g OEM Console.
I haven't been able to find any information as to the source of this, where the agent came form, what configured it and what will happen if I try and remove it. Has anyone else encountered this situation? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Bill Wagman

Hi Bill:
As Rajesh has noted, the new agent has multiple HOMEs for separate components. There is the traditional HOME (core), and instance, sbin and plugin locations. This Oracle note has a great summary: 12c Cloud Control Agent - Details of the Directory Structure and Commonly Used Locations in a 12c Agent Installation [ID 1386113.1]. I used it to set the correct environments as I patch the components.

    1) Load file in the oracle table (LKM --> File to oracle) --> agent linux
    2) Load Table in BAM (LKM --> oracle to BAM) --> agent windows
I would like to have in one interface File to BAM.

    Hi.
You can execute scenario from command line http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integrate.1111/e12643/running_executions.htm#BABJEHIG:
    On UNIX systems:
    ./startscen.sh <scenario_name> <scenario_version> <context_code> [<log_level>] [-AGENT_URL=<remote_agent_url>] [-NAME=<local_agent_name>] [-SESSION_NAME=<session_name>] [-KEYWORDS=<keywords>] [<variable>=<value>]*
    On Windows systems:
    startscen.bat <scenario_name> <scenario_version> <context_code> [<log_level>] [-AGENT_URL=<remote_agent_url>] ["-NAME=<local_agent_name>"] ["-SESSION_NAME=<session_name>"] ["-KEYWORDS=<keywords>"] ["<variable>=<value>"]*

  • I tried two dvd players,one freezes still,the other ok,Why?

I made a dvd with photshop/premiere 7.All still pictures with some music.I tried the dvd on two sony players. One works great. The other will freeze frame at same still. Why?

    Ok... some thoughts
Since you ask in the Encore forum, I will presume you created the DVD with Encore... which does, by design, create "legal" discs that are "supposed" to play
But... as I said, no player is required to work with a burned disc
Go to http://www.imgburn.com/ and scroll down to the link for the FREE version, now at 2.5
Tell Encore to create an ISO on your hard drive and use Imgburn to burn to disk... at the SLOWEST setting possible
As far as the 2 Sony models... I can only GUESS that the newer model has more built-in DRM "crapware" that is getting in the way of playing a burned disc

  • Crystal Reports - Two Tables in one report, grouped by machine.

I have two tables for machine schedules.  One is a Current Job Table, and the other is a Que Job Table.  I do have tables joined to a definition table for the machine name.
Cur Job Table - Def table
Que Job Table - Def table
I want to report the information from the current job table for each 13 machines in sequence.  Some machines may have more current jobs than qued jobs.
    ...Machine 1 (Machine Name)
    .....Current Jobs (Cur Job Table)
    .....Qued Jobs (Que Job Table)
    ...Machine 2 (Machine Name)
    .....Current Jobs (Cur Job Table)
    .....Qued Jobs (Que Job Table)
    Etc.
Is there a way to do this easily?  I have tried grouping and sub reports.  Seems like I end up with duplicate records due to the SQL joins.

    Sharon,
Select distinct will not work here, as select distinct checks all fields in the record, and when joining the two detail tables, it will not clear out "duplicates" on only one side of the join.
I would also humbly suggest that using Select Distinct to try to "clean up" a query is rather dangerous.  You may end up dropping some data that should appear on the report.  (In fact I recently had to fix a report due to this issue - coded by someone else, of course!  :->)  If you are getting duplicate records and you don't want them, the query should be coded to produce the desired result set WITHOUT the Distinct clause being the reason duplicates are dropped.  (This is not to say that select distinct is not useful, or should never be used.  If you need a distinct list of customers over a date range, using Select Distinct custcode from sales where date between {?start} and {?end} is perfectly OK.)

  • Two Inventories on One Target (OUIinventories.add)

    Hi everyone,
i think i ran myself into a little setup problem doing this for the first time and could use some help. Here a brief overview of my configuration:
    - Oracle 10.2.0.3 (64Bit) installed on c:\oracle\product\10.2.0 (OraHome102)
    - Inventory Directory for this installation is c:\program files\Oracle\Inventory
    - Oracle EM Grid Control R3 with
    - Agent on g:\oracle\product\GRID\agent10g
    - OMS on g:\oracle\product\GRID\oms10g
    - Inventory Directory for this installation is c:\progam files (x86)\Oracle\Inventory
I think most of you already see my problem. One is a 32bit the other one a 64bit installation which causes 2 Inventory directories to be created. My Grid Control discovers only the 32bit version which points to the Grid Components. Therefore i'm not able to, e.g. use Net Administrator to create a tnsnames.ora in my DBHome.
Looking through posts and documentation i found OUIinventories.add and modified this accordingly, but it will not discover anything. I tried various formats
    inventory: "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory"
    inventory: C:\\Program Files\\Oracle\\Inventory
inventory: "C:\\Program Files\\Oracle\\Inventory"which doesn't help and there is no error message in any of the agent logs or trace files.
Any suggestions how i get my OraHome102 into the Host Configuration??

You can install a second agent for Microsoft Windows (x64). It will use a different port to and you can point it to the same OMS.

  • How to delete copies in two projects with one master

    Hello,
I drug images from one project to another, thinking they would be moved. I see that it instead made a copy and now both projects have the same image, but they apparently share the same master. When I choose "delete version" with one of them, the message that comes up is "delete master image and all versions", presumably because there is only one version in the project. If I go ahead and continue the deletion, I lose the image from both projects (and the master).
Is there a way to get out of this conundrum?
    Many thanks, Steve

So, that means that if I use an image in an album, it's master is forever locked in location and can't be moved? That seems like a severe drawback.
I know I've moved referenced masters for images in albums without a problem by using 'relocate masters', but you are saying that dragging the image from one project to another will make two versions referencing a single master rather than moving the master?
I don't understand why I can't just delete one of the versions, then. They each seem to think they are the version of the master.

  • Question - how do I combine two users into one?

I have migrated a lot of data to a MacBook Pro using Migration Assistant, in the process two users have been created on the Mac. How do I combine the two users into one?

You don't. Just log in with one, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Users/ as the path. and drag the folder there; you'll need to provide an administrator password at some point.

  • Is it possible to monitor more than one target/Host with one agent in OEM 12c?

    Hi,
Is it possible to monitor more than one target/Host with one agent in OEM 12c? Please assist me on this

Since by definition a single EM agent must reside on a single database host, then, no, you can't monitor multiple hosts.
Unless you mean that you want to monitor multiple virtual hosts from a single physical host ... but in that case, you'd still need one host per database host.
That's just the way EM works. Always has, probably always will.

  • Weblogic Console hangs when connecting to one of two servers in a cluster

              Hello,
Please email me as well as posting reply if possible as resolution is required
              immediately.
We have two Weblogic 5.1 servers (named server1 & server2) running in a cluster
using multicast over a VLAN and a DNS entry of "mycluster" to point to the list
              of two IP addresses.
Both servers say they have joined the cluster upon startup, however, only one
of them (server2) reports when the other one (server1) has joined, but not vice
              versa.
Also, the Weblogic Console only displays server1 in the cluster, and hangs when
it tries to attach to server2, which generates exceptions on server2. The error
              is as follows:
<Kernel> ExecuteRequest failed. NullPointerException at weblogic.cluster.MemberStash.getManagedSubObjects(MemberStash.java:259).
I expect this would also prevent replication from working properly.
One other thing that might be related to the above is that when the URL "mycluster:7001"
is used directly in the web browser, it sometimes (not always, not sure if it
matters on which machine) gives the error: "Inconsistent cookie: primary !=
              me".
Two IIS web servers are being proxied to the cluster URL, and round-robin load
balancing of the app servers appears to work fine from this perspective.
Both servers appear to be working properly otherwise.
              Many thanks for any clues,
              Ben

primary != me occurs when you restart WLS but do not exit the browser, then hit
WLS (the browser has a stale cookie).

  • Work Items to PR Agents (Only one of two agents received)

    Dear all,
I am facing a problem like this:
In my PR Workflow, the task TS00007986 is assigned agents by position. There is one position applied for a particular release strategy and there are two agents under this position.
Now, there is one PR created, it went to the correct release strategy and thus sent to the correct agent. However, only one of the agent is receiving that work item while the other don't. In another words, instead of sending to both the agents, only one received.
In SWEL, the possible agents are showing both agents' names, but the icon "In User's Inbox" is only appearing on one of the agent.
I would like to know, what would be the possible error for this and in such cases, how could I trace the errors?
Thank you very much in all advances.

Here's an update on this issue:
For example, the two agents are Agent A and Agent B.
I think Agent A and Agent B both received the work items. However, Agent A executed the work item but later canceled the action without processing the work item (approved or rejected the PR). When Agent A executed the work item, the same work item would be removed from Agent B's inbox, but it is still in Agent A's inbox.
The problem is, the work item has yet to be processed. In this case, how this issue should be solved (only processed work item is removed from all the agents' inbox)?
    Thank you very much.

  • Please tell me basic trouble shooting for one call answered by two agent in UCCEnterprise?

    Hi,
We using UCCEnterprise. Last day we faced the issue from customer. Issue is "One(same) call answered by two agent?"
Please tell me what are the basic steps I need to follow to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Gopi
    [email protected]

Is this an one-off occurrence ?
This is quite complicated to troubleshoot and would probably require traces to get into the details.
But yes under certain scenarios this can happen.
Here is one potential scenario that might have happened.
Call comes in from PSTN to the gateway
The gateway sends an admission request to the gatekeeper
The gatekeeper returns the CVP server 1
The gateway extends the call to the CVP server 1
For some reason CVP server 1 does not reply immediately (network delay) so the gateway thinks it is unreachable
The gateway request another CVP server from the gatekeeper
The gatekeeper returns CVP server 2
At that time CVP server 1 sends a reply to the gateway
We might end up having the same call landed on two agents.
However the above is just a scenario and it might not apply in your case. Detailed call flow analysis, version of all the systems involved and detailed tracing from all the components are required to be sure

    Christos

  • Two horizontal reports bottom the third one

Is that possible to get two horizontal reports bottom the third one?
    cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
    caaaaaaaa 1st report aaaaaaaaaac

caaa 2nd report aca 3rd report ac
    cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
On the first moment I was sure it's very easy (and probably it's), but after a while, realized that I can't find solution... ;)
options: "regions templates" and "columns position" doesn't work ofcourse because of position of 1st report.
    anyone knows the solution?

  • Oracle 12c Grid dashboards shows wrong status of target database

    Hello Community,
A database in the 12c Cloud control, even if the database target is up, it says it is down. Agent, listeners are also added as target on that particular host. They show correct state where as database target show as down. Database is in 12c. [12.1.0.2.0] I have referred doc.id 1535613.1. That did not help here.
Every time it is showing down with an additional message "got a minus one from read call "
    Agent Core version is 12.1.0.3.0
Could you please guide me in this problem?
Kindly let me know if I am giving sufficient information for preliminary investigation or I need to provide some more details.

  • Is Multiple SDM agents in one Host supported?

    Hi Experts
I know about the rule of one SDM agent per host.  Is it possible to install 2 different SDM agents in one host...
Does SAP supports this?  Is there any documentation supporting this.
    For Example...
I want my Development systems connected to my both Solution Managers ( Production and Development ).  I want to have the possibility to start  monitoring from either one of them.
Or, I want an SDM agent pointing to an external service provider to monitor my landscape throught their SolMan,   And I want to keep one SDM agent configured to my own Solman Server.
    Again
Should/Can I install an additional SDM agent in every system?
Do you have a particular documentation that support this scenario?
    Regards and thanks
    Henry Lopez

    Hi,
first, if you mean SMD Agent, then yes, the diagnostics concept from SAP needs only one diagnostics agent per host.
Big negativ impact on this SAP concept is, that if you implement monitoring with SAP Solution Manager, you have a single point of failure = the SAP Solution Manager itself,
In former days, there was CCMS and primary / secondary target servers possible.
Now with SMD you may have a agent with instance 98 (older versions had 97 as default) which "reacts" to the prod Sol Man and an additional agent with a diffent number which "reacts" to the non-prod Sol Man and so on.
This "single point of failure" in the E2E / SMD concept is for me not acceptable.
Everytime there is a Sol Man downtime, you and your complete "monitoring" will be BLIND.
Sometimes the Java Agent turns from Green to Yellow, then the blindness is for all compontents on that host.
If any alerts (MAI) etc come up, the SolMan down, you will not know / auto-react it until SolMan downtime is over or you restarted the Yellow agent.
That's the reason and solution why the making a SPOF to a "halt/two point of failure" might be better on larger landscapes.
    Raymond
