12V AUTO ADAPTER FOR HP 460

I purchased a HP 460 OfficeJet mobile printer and it came with a 12V car adapter.  It does not fit the printer, but is the same Model number as what is listed on the HP website.  Model number is hp c8257a L and SN 076005.  The end has a black tip as opposed to a yellow tip from the AC adapter, and the diameter is larger.  It does not fit the laptop that I bought around the same time, so it must go to the printer.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Did HP have a recall or accidentally packaged the wrong item?

  • 12v adapter for HP Envy X2

    Hi all,
recently acquired an HP Envy x2 with 64gb for using as navigation PC in my boat. Excellent piece of hardware and I look forward to using it. However, I have searched the net and havent found anything whether HP has or will have a 12v adapter with suitable connections for the Envy x2?
Sure I can use an inverter but power on a sailboat is always an issue and converting 12v dc -> 220v ac -> 15v dc sounds like a waste to me :-)
Any ideas? I am looking for a car adapter type of thing, since the power plug for the Envy x2 is a square proprietary thing its not as easy as buying a universal adapter - or is there one with a fitting plug?
    Thanks in advance.
    //Anders

I bought an extra adapter just to get the plug. There are three cords running into the plug so apparently some kind of intelligent adapter. Was not enough to just plug in + and - and charge... I'll have to do some more research. In the end I gave up and used a 12V-220V adapter.
Please HP, make us a proper 12V charger!

  • Travel Adapter for 130W T530

    Hello,
I have a T530, and I'm stuck for what I need to do to get a travel (airplane+car cigarette lighter+AC) power adapter for this system.  It has the enhanced graphics, so I use the 130W adapter.
I have the 90W travel adapter from my T500, and I tried connecting it with Power Manager set to "airplane seat power mode" so that it wouldn't blow any fuses and will reduce its power draw.  However, when I connect the 90W adapter, it runs off battery anyway and hover over Power Manager shows a tooltip saying that "this adapter does not provide enough power".  So, I disconnected, turned off Airplane Seat Mode, and reconnected, and it did run for a few seconds but sure enough blew the 3A fuse in my car.
    So, two questions:
    1) Anyone know where I can find a 130W+ travel poewr adapter?  I want to have 130W when I'm on AC mains, and the option to use DC power, without having to carry two separate bricks.  So I need the 130W equivalent of the old travel adapter.  I don't even see a 3rd party option like iGo at this wattage.
    2) Anyone know how to get a 130W T530 to stop blowing fuses?  If I have 3A@12V, that is up to 36W available.  I noitice right now while disconnected from a charger that my laptop is pulling 1.4A @ 11.57V from the battery = 16W, so it should definitely be possible to run off of my car's cigarette lighter without blowing the fuse.  I was hoping the "airplane seat mode" setting would do the trick... but apparently not.
One note... hardwiring an AC inverter to the battery/alternator with an 11A fuse is not an option for me since I am always in a rental car when using my laptop.

I have a 15A fuse for all 3 cigarette lighter outlets together.  My 2-way splitter in one of them has a 3A fuse in each leg, which I am holding, that is now blown after  my experiment.  Be that as it may, my question is whether there exists a travel power adapter that is capable of outputting 130W when connected to AC mains and also running at any wattage (maybe 130W or lower) when connected to car DC power.  Can anyone help with that?

  • In-car adapter for macbook air - what's the latest on this please?

I've got the latest macbook air and need to use it, and charge it, from a 12 volt car socket. I understand that I cannot do this though - surely I must have been misinformed?
It seems that apple do make an "empower" socket rated at 15 volts that you can use on a plane, but it doesn't recharge the battery. However, clearly this limits the usefulness of sorting out some kind of rig-up, suggested in some chat rooms, with a dc-dc (ie 15v - 12v) adapter.
Does anyone know where a dc in-car adapter for a macbook air is available?

Modern Outpost is coming out with a MacBook 12V DC car adaptor, and are hoping to add an Air adaptor in the near future...
    http://modernoutpost.blogspot.com/
I see the comments about using an AC Inverter, but I prefer to speak about solutions that will work with solar chargers too. An AC inverter will not only NOT work from a solar panel without extra & heavy equipment, but it wastes more than 20-40% of your power... first it converts your battery power to dirty household AC, then your Apple adaptor converts it back to DC for your Mac.
I suggest using a DC adaptor and bypass the middleman.
Modern Outpost's website has nothing posted yet...

  • Which car adapter for PB 17 ?

I am looking for a car adapter for a Powerbook 1.5 17". One model that is readily available in my area is the Targus Car Air, a universal laptop model with 70W output. It does also work as a main power adapter, which would be good if the original fails on the move. But it is sold through the PC shops and there is no mention of older Apple plugs. Anyone knows, or has another model to suggest? Would 70W be okay with an added external USB powered drive? Thanks!

go to wal-mart and to the auto section. In the same aisle as the car stereos you will see some ipod accessories that are not in the electronics section. They will tell you on the package which one is for your ipod. You can probably go to walmart.com and look it up too.

  • Can I force the A/V adapter for IPad to output a certain orientation?

I got the A/V Adapter for my iPad 2 and all is well except there's an app I need to demonstrate that 'technically' runs in portrait mode, although you use the app in landscape.
Much to my dismay, the output auto-rotates and the app appears on its side on my television. I am hoping that there's a way to 'lock' the output to landscape mode, although I fear the worst.
Does anyone have any information on this subject?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.
According to this page on the Apple website, you can save up to $30 on an iPad with education pricing - http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/back_to_school
With that, and the lower prices of iPad air in the US, I'll be saving $130 on a 16 GB Wi-Fi model if I bought it in the US than I would in India. Considering that Apple is a very reliable company and that I get sufficient time to use the iPad in the US to learn about any defects (if any) in it, I think I can take the risk of the Indian Apple store not honoring the warranty. Even if the product shows some defect in India, I can use the $130 which I would have saved to get it repaired.
    Any views regarding this?

  • Ligthning adaptator for SD card

I bought the ligthning adaptator for SD card, I'm obliged to reboot the ipad in order it works ! Do you have the same problem ?

    Hi Haakman,
After you insert a SD Card into a computer with a fresh installation of Windows XP for the first time, the AutoPlay functionality of your WXP OS may not work. However, after you insert the SD Card into your Notebook, the AutoPlay functionality may start to work again.
As far as I know, the Auto Play may not be started because WXP has not initialized your SD Card device in registry. What you can do is to restart the system with a SD Card inserted in the SD Card slot. This should reinitialize the SD Card registry entry.
Try it please, and let us know if Auto play functionality work properly.

It should say on a sticker on the router. Match the volts exactly but the amps can be higher but not lower. The connector could be harder to match up though.

  • My Pismo and a VST 3400 Auto Adapter

I've been a long time PowerBook G3 Wallstreet user. Before that I used a PowerBook 520c. Recently I purchased two used Pismos, one for myself the other for my wife. And I've sold the Wallstreet.
Rummaging through a drawer where I keep computer accessories I found a VST 3400 Auto Adapter. I seem to remember that, before I retired in 1999, I used it to power my Wallstreet while on the road. But I can't remember for sure. Can I use this adapter with my Pismo?
In searching the forums I found info from jpl that, "The PB1400, 3400, any black G3, and first generation iBook adapters are interchangeable, all 45 watt output with the same connector at the powerbook port."
The VST 3400 Auto Adapter says it is for a PowerBook 3400 and 1400 series. It's listed input is 12-18v DC, 5.0 A and it's listed output is 24v DC, 2.0 A.

    Related question I think.
Re: the Apple M7332 original power supply, upgrades/replacements?
I'm way out of date on power supply questions
Just now starting to travel with my old Pismo again.
Questions: does this need more AC wattage as modified? IF so, what to get?
Pismo G3 with a 900mhz aftermarket CPU, and 1GB RAM
one NewerTech and one FastMac aftermarket battery.
    OSX 10.3.9.
(The FastMac support folks already replaced their battery once, but claim something may be wrong with the Pismo power supply -- it quit taking full charge after 18 cycles. No problems with their replacement)
The original Apple AC "flying saucer" 45w power supplies (I have two) never did anything odd with the original Apple batteries, even with the 900mhz CPU.
With the NewerTech battery, no difference.
With the FastMac battery -- higher capacity -- the power supply buzzes.
I have two of the original M7332 Apple "UFO" power supplies.
Both of them buzz exactly the same way
(One bought long ago as an office spare, the other from AppleCare years ago, after the original started sparking in the DC wire)
I also have one of the VST3400 adapters, also bought long ago.
    Question is
Is the original Apple 45w UFO power supply safe, or do they have problems?
Is the modified Pismo apt to need a higher wattage power supply?
    If so, what to do?

  • Wrong 'mini dvi to video' adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33

I recently bought the M9319 mini dvi - video adapter for my 12" Powerbook 1.33 to find that the mini dvi on the adapter is a different size to the one on the computer and the adapters supplied with the computer.
I've been doing a bit of research into this and it seems a bit of a grey area. Apple have not made it clear in advertising this product that it is only suitable for the newest 12" Powerbooks and even state that it will work with a 1.33 machine in their following article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86507
Has anyone had a similar experience, or suggest an alternative product that will work? Did Apple make an older version that works with the 1.33?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Graeme.

Just took the adapter to my local Apple store and they identified it as a mini VGA to video adapter - not what it said on the packaging!
I've noticed a few posts with this problem, so just double check before you leave the store that the packaging matches the product.

I have wondered about that G5 support since others have had bad luck with Nvidia boards and the video adapter. e.g. it doesn't work with the 7800GT, which is a G5 board. All current ATI cards on their web-site show support for it but the MacPro card is not on ATI's site.
The adapter seems to have disappeared from the displays section of the Apple Store.
Another option is a VGA to video adapter
    <http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/PC-TVvideoadapter.html>
It costs more, but does a lot more, and should work with any video card.
