1310 Root with two non-root bridges

I have a Cisco 1310 root bridge and a 1310 non-root bridge . it worked fine for a year, I then installed one more 1310 as a non-root bridge now I?m seeing both of my non-root bridges dropping offline more and more. I checked my first non-root bridge today and the radio is down and I can?t seem to bring it back up. I have recently upgraded the tar to see if that would fix the problem. This problem started when I added my second non-root bridge. Did I miss some setting or something

Make sure the spanning tree protocol is disabled on Vlan interfaces

  • 340 bridge traffic between two non root bridges

I have a deployent with a 340 series bridge acting as root bridge and two 340 bridges acting as non-root remotes. The hosts hanging off the non-root bridges can communicate with the hosts hanging off the root bridge but i cannot get communication to work between hosts on the two non-root bridges. Is there some sort of split horizon type setting I need to configure on the root-bridge to allow traffic back out the radio interface.

There isn't anything in the bridges that would block traffic between the two sites. Is this one large subnet, or are there two subnets? If there are two, how are you routing between the two?
Can one non-root bridge ping the other non-root?

  • 1310 Root Bridge will not Authenticate with 350 Non Root Bridge

I've exhausted myself solving this issue.
I have a 1310 set as a root bridge using WEPS. I have a 350 set as a non root bridge/without clients, also using WEPS (they both use the same SSID)
The 350 will not authenticate to the 1310. After doing a Carrier Busy Test, it is clear the 350 see's the 1310 with signal strengh of 100 percent.
(I have a test lab setup in my office)
If I make the 350 the Root Bridge and the 1310 the Non Root, The 1310 will authenticate to the 350.
I hoping someone else has seen this problem and can enlighten me.
    Thank you.

I have successfully configured a 1310 Bridge as a Root Bridge and a BR350 Bridge and a Non Root Bridge/with Clients. I also had to force the 1310 to operate at 11MB only.
As soon as I make the BR350 Bridge a Non Root Bridge/without Clients, the authentication is dropped between the two.
I was hoping I could transition to the 1310 one unit at a time since I have over a dozen 350's to replace.

  • Connectig an AP1131 act as WGB to AP root with two VLANS and two SSIDs

Someone Knows, if I can connect an AP 1131 configured as WGB to other AP 1131 acting as root with 2 Vlans and 2 SSIDs, and pass all of them to the WGB ethernet port, a mean, passing the traffic from the 2 differents VLANs with two differnts IP range from the ethernet AP root port, to the ethernet WGB port.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately it will not play. AP as a WGB can cary only one (native) VLAN. For interconnecting more VLANs you need a full wireless bridge but it cannot be AP11xx.

The problem is i want to install weblogic server and OIAM with non-root so that it does not have security issues.
When i try to install weblogic i am unable to install it with normal user rights in /opt dir it requires root access. As per the document oiam install on top of weblogic should not be a problem but the major issue is running weblogic with non-root.
pls let me know abt install and running weblogic as a non-root user, or a pointer to the documentation.

  • It's possible (and easy) to downgrade to the previous update, even with a non-rooted device.

I've just complete the downgrade on my non-rooted Galaxy S3 to the previous (MB1) version.  It was easy to do and my phone is back to normal.  I've never been one to mess around with rooting or otherwise modifying my phones and was a little intimidated, but everything went smooth as silk.
Follow the direction on this page
This is the download link for MB1

2nd link VZW does not support and should not be held liable by users who brick their phone and expect VZW to fix it. So it is deleted also<

Most that have received the refurbished phone have said that it fixed the issue as it had the older version of firmware when they received the phone but as they say no guarantee with it.  Good Luck with your refurbished phone we hope there are not other issues with it.  I wonder why all this testing VZW does with the upgrades was or was not done cause this thing sounds bigger than just a handful of customers to me.  I am one of the lucky ones with only issue with name caller ID thing which was really sneaky of VZW sending that out with the update but they did sort of give us a choice.

  • Pretty gtk2 as root, ugly as non-root? [/SOLVED]

Heh, this is actually a little bit interesting. I've never ran anything that requires X as root until just a few minutes ago and realized that running applications such as pidgin and firefox as root, they are significantly prettier than what it looks like when I run it as non-root, even with the same gtk2 theme as you can see in the picture above. Oh, by the way, can you guys which one is my non-root and root running the above? The left is as non-root and the right is as root. See? A lot prettier... And I always questioned why Firefox was so damn ugly on Linux. It looks like it is suppose to as root.
Anyhow, I am curious on either what my non-root account is lacking (I think it is lacking the ability to read certain files), how could I configure it to look like what it does on root, or so on whatever the deal is. To me, this is just crazy. Heh, I am not saying how it looks is totally important, I've always been a fan of usability which is why I use dwm and stuff, but this is just crazy to me, lol, crazy...
Yeap.. So any ideas what I am doing wrong, missing, so on, lalala?
Edit: Blah, I feel like a fool. I played around with it more and realized it was clearlooks on root. My bad my bad my bad. :\ Well, at least y'all know what theme I'll be using. 8D

  • In iPS 3.0SP3a, I would like to change the super-admin entry from root to a non-root user. The problem is I was able to install iPS as a pseudo-root however console will not let me in as that.

There must be a way to do this. Pls help.

    Hi,
Please Check whether the said unix user is already existing under any roles of the default-domain.
If so, delete the user from that role in the default_domain and then
Goto : Manage Domain > view Domain Administrator Roles > Admin Role > users
Create the non root unix user name .
Once you create the user profile for this under the role defined for super admin, you can access as super admin.

  • Trouble with luks non root partition

    hello,
today i struggled with creating an encryptet archlinux installation.
what i want is to encrypt my root and all other partitions with luks.
basically i used the guide on the archwiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt_with_LUKS ),
but iam always failing at the same point.
my setup is a bit more complex, but to describe my problem i want to use a simple testcase
    /dev/sda with 2 partitions
      /dev/sda1    as /boot
      /dev/sda2    as crypto_LUKS
    /dev/sdb with 1 partition
      /dev/sdb1    as crypto_LUKS
    /dev/sda2 should be / and /dev/sdb1 f.eks. /home
iam using passphrases for both partitions.
i edited the HOOKS line in mkinitcpio.conf and added "encrypt" before "filesystems",
and i also edited the crypttab to somethink like this:
    sdb1_crypt /dev/sdb1 none luks
my fstab entry for /home looks like
    /dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt /home ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
so far so good, when iam booting iam prompted for passphrases 2 times. first time to encrypt and mount the root-partition, which works fine.
second time for the /home partition, but then the boot process stucks and systemd times out
    [ OK ] Found device /dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt
[ OK ] Started Cryptography Setup for sdb1_crypt
[ OK ] Reached target Encryptet Volumes
[ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device dev-mapper/sdb1_crypt
    [ DEPEND ] Dependency failed for /home
[ DEPEND ] Dependency failed for Local File Systems
iam thrown to emergency shell then.
/dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt exists, but when iam trying to mount it with
    mount /dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt /mnt
    it says
mount: special device /dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt does not exist
cryptsetyp says , that /dev/mapper/sdb1_crypt is inactive.
anyway i can luksOpen it manually with
    cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdb1 foo
enter passphrase again and now iam able to mount /dev/mapper/foo
what am i missing in my here?
    thanks for helping !
    ineb

I just worte this. It dose not cover the LVM part. However, you do not need to do anything for that.
Just add this between "keymap encrypt" and "filesystems" in the HOOKS= array
    lvm2
Also, becuase you have more then mone parition that is encrypted and needs to be decrypted at boot, you may need to have this the the /etc/default/grub instead of what what I put in the post I linked to.
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:root cryptdevice=/dev/sdb1:home"
The `grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg` command WILL find all your LVM2 lv's with no problem and configure grub.cfg correctly. You just need to edit /etc/default/grub and use that command to rebuild the grub.cfg
Other then that this post should solve your problems.

  • Non-root AP associates itself?

    Hi,
I have three AP , one Root and two non-root. I notice something weird when I type  command "sh dot11 associations"  on Non-root APs.
If I type "sh dot11 associations" on NON-ROOT1 AP there is a lines that shows a client with the name NON-ROOT1 as a client associated, sometimes the line dissapeared but when I type " sh dot11 associations" on NON-ROOT2 AP a similar line is shown ; theres is a line that shows a client with the name NON-ROOT2
What could it be the reason???

    Hi ,
I have  few question for you
Are both the Non root associated to the same root bridge ?
Is it possible that one of the Non root is associated to another non root which is running in Non root bridge with clients mode ?
Can you verify the Mac and IP address of the Non root bridge and check if they are the same ?

  • Root-Bridge and Non-Root Bridge Support

I was wondering if the ISR Routers (Cisco 1811w) support the root-bridge and non-root-bridge feature. If not is there another device apart from the 1310 and 1410 bridges that support this feature?
    Thank You,
    VT

    Hi VT,
    The ISR AP supports both of these roles;
    Access Point Link Role Flexibility
Access Point Link Role Flexibility allows access point radios to operate in a combination of radio roles,
such as access point root, bridge root (with or without clients), bridge nonroot (with or without clients).
This provides a more flexible deployment scheme to support the various applications requirement. Note
that the ISR AP does not support access point repeater and WGB.
    Wireless Non-Root Bridge
The wireless non-root bridge allows the access point radio to operate as the remote node in a point to
point or point to multi-point network.
    Wireless Root Bridge
The wireless root bridge role provides support for both point-to-point or point to multi-point bridging.

  • SAP 1602 Wireless bridge issue. Non root bridge loses it's configuration

    Hi guys,
Today I tried to configure wireless link between two autonomous AP 1602 APs.
There is a problem with Non-root bridge. I configured it with this command:
    AP2(config-if)#station-role non-root wireless-clients
Non-root bridge successfully joins the root bridge (root AP). Anyway, this configuration does not work, if I reload my non-root bridge. Even without reload, If I check my non-root bridge configuration it looks like this:
    interface Dot11Radio1
    no ip address
    no ip route-cache
encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers aes-ccm
    ssid WiFi-Bridge
    antenna gain 0
    stbc
    beamform ofdm
Command "station-role non-root wireless-clients" is missing here. But I just configured it few seconds ago... Does anyone know, where could be a problem?

Okay... Everything works with OPEN ssid. Not with my WPA 2 configuration.
On both APs configuration looks like this:
    dot11 ssid Private
       vlan 10
       authentication open
       authentication key-management wpa version 2

  • Can one Root Bridge support multiple non-root bridges?

    Hey gang,
I have a pretty simple question here I think
I have a wireless bridge currently setup to support a separate office building on our property about 200 yards away from the main building.  The wireless bridge has been working great and was a much cheaper solution when compared to the cost of making a fiber drop to this building.  The needs of our business have changed (go figure), to include a warehouse building also on the backside of the property.  It's not feasible to run a cable between these two building either.  So I need to create another wireless bridge to this back warehouse as well.  My question is can I just use another non-root bridge to link to the root bridge already in place, or does each wireless bridge require one root bridge and one non-root bridge?
I have good LoS to both buildings from where the current root bridge is, so if two non-root bridges can talk to one root bridge I should be able to just an additional non-root bridge and be good to go.  But if wireless bridges are meant to be a one to one setup, then I'll need to setup an additional root bridge to link to the new non-root bridge?
It seems like you should be able to have one root bridge link to multiple non-root bridges but I haven't been able to find any clear examples of this being done.
Thanks in advance for the help!

    That was just too easy.
I copied the configuration from the working non-root bridge to my laptop.  I changed out the ip address of the BVI interface.  I uploaded the configuration to the new 1300 bridge.  I plugged it in and pointed the yagi antenna in the general direction of the original root bridge and started pinging the new 1300.  Success!
I'll use my spare 1300 to get service up and running in the warehouse by the end of the week and I'll just need to order one more 1300 to make sure I have spare on hand if needed.
    Thanks again!

  • Non-root bridge association problem

I have an installation using Cisco 1242 Access Points (IOS) as bridges
in 5Ghz band, and as AP in 2,4 GHz band. Sometimes I get problems
with the non-root bridges, after mains outage, they will not
associate to the root bridge. Command "dot11 do 1 carrier busy"
issued to the non-root bridge helps, but sometimes I have to use it
several times. Have anybody any idea about possible cause?
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
I think I have found the reason of my troubles. It is the following configuration command:
    (interface Dot11Radio1)
    world-mode dot11d country CZ outdoor
which is not only not-needed on the non-root bridge AP, it prevents associating the non-root bridge to the root-bridge AP. It does not cause the troubles on each root non-root couple. The troubles are more frequent with IOS version 12.3(11)JA or 12.3(8)JEA than with 12.3(8)JA2.

  • NON-ROOT TO NON-ROOT ASSOCIATION??

    Hi,
I have one AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9, and two AIR-AP1242AG-N-K9. I have already configure them to work as bridge.
    Root Bridge with  wireless-clients  ----------->     1   AIR-AP1242AG-N-K9
    Non-Root Bridge1 with  wireless-clients  --->      1   AIR-AP1242AG-N-K9
    Non-Root Bridge2 with  wireless-clients ---->      1   AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9
I notice after reseting the root bridge or one of the non-root bridges that  when I type the command "sh DOt11 associations"  the results shows that there is an associatiation between the 2 Non-Root bridge. When this happend the connection of the clients associated to this APs is very unstable.
as far as I know the association is just between Root and Non-Root bridges.
I don´t know why this happend.
In order to avoid this I disable in one of the non-root bridge (AIR-AP1242AG-A-K9) the option "Force Infrastructure Device to associate only...."
Cisco's Docs show an example of config when there is one root bridge and one non-root bridge but in my scenario I have 2 non-root bridge and one root bridge.
I would like to know if the config for my scenario must be  different from the simple scenario (1 root and 1 non-root).
I hope any of you can help me.
    Regards

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your recommendations.
The mac-address authentication option you recommend is the option shown as "Root Parent MAC 1" ,"Root Parent MAC 2 ....." on Setting---> Network interface???
For root bridge , I should write down the MAC addres of the non-root bridge1  on Root Parent MAC 1 field and  on the field of Root Parent MAC 2, the  MAC of  the non-root bridge2 ?? ,  am I right?
and for the non-root bridges I should just set on Root Parent MAC 1 just the MAC address of the root bridge???
