137 ITMS ERRORS IN MY EPUB!!!

Ok guys, I know that this question had been poped up probably a thousand times but I really need your help !
Apple just relased a new version of iTunes Producer (3.0) and I had great expecations about an easier sending process for e-books but it is actually worth.
I am FRENCH and I just created a free lanced e-book support. I have been helping more than 250 indies and small editing companies (mostly in Europe), my business is growing up every month but, this time time, I am serioulsy thinking of asking my customers to avoid Apple and give it up with the iBook Store.
I know that we are far from the US but in Europe, an area of almost 500 millions of inhabitants and potential customers, there are a lot of people who don't speak English at all and I let you imagine how many frustrations Apple is creating with its products which are more and more complicated to use... (sorry, I am getting angry)
All of this to tell you that there are more than 100 ITMS errors in an Epub of one of my customers and I really don't know how to deal with that.
The Epub is legitimate, I made it with Sigil, there are no photos inside it except for the cover (in the right dimensions (1400 x 2087 e.i)).
Can anybody tell me in English how to solve this ?
Many thanks for your help.
Rémy.

I assume you have already gotten answers, however, since there's no reply, here is mine, in case this helps someone else:
Your epub is not valid. Sigil is a great tool, but you cannot rely on its internal validator. Download a copy of Pagina or use one of the online 3rd party validators. The language, by the way, is mostly not Apple's (The 9000 bit is and the image size error is) Most of it is straight from the ePub validation tool language, which is annoying as heck, but actually does tell you exactly what is wrong. Figuring out to fix it is another issue.
1.   ERROR ITMS-9000: "Images larger than 3,200,000 pixels are not allowed in books.  The following images are too large: /OEBPS/Images/Cover
This one is easy. Your image is too reported as too big, so I would double check that your image is the size you say. Try sizing your interior image down a bit and confirm that the documented height x width is a value less than 3.2 million.
2.OEBPS/Text/Section0009.xhtml(11): attribute "clear" not allowed here; expected attribute "class", "id", "style" or "title". This error occurs 17 times."
You probably have an html error, probably underneath the body tag -- likely an unclosed tag and most of your errors are cascading from there. The fact that some of the errors reference "coords" makes me think your error starts with with an image, and further than you may have had a file that poorly converted to html. This is common when someone uses Calibre to convert a file to ePub, so start with the file that contains your cover.
One other possibility is that the problem is with your stylesheet. Confirm that your stylesheet does not have a typo in it. I have seen two instances where the epub, for reasons that mystify me, was unable to parse the stylesheet, even after I confirmed that the stylesheet was parseable in a normal html editor. As I recall, I had to unzip the file, manually replace the stylesheet, and rezip THEN open it in Sigil.
Because of your "coordinates" language, I think your cover page is poorly converted from your source file. I suggest you replace the html with something like this:
[etc]
<body>
  <div id="toccover">
  <p class="covercontainer"><img alt="Cover of Une si Jolie Rencontre" src="../Images/Name_Of_Your_Cover_Image.jpg" /></p>
  </div>
[etc]
* Remove the id= in the div if you are not using an internal html toc. If you are, replace it with whatever Id you are using for the cover.
* Where the class "covercontainer" in your css file looks something like this  (I have found that the iPad centering issues go away when all margins are explicitly set)
.covercontainer
width:90%;
text-align:center;
margin-top:0;
margin-right:0;
margin-bottom:0;
margin-left:0;
As an aside: NEVER allow Sigil to automatically repair errors. It will make a huge mess that will be more work to fix than tracking down the unclosed tag.
I suspect the rest of the "not allowed" errors are cascading from your first error, and that you let Sigil automatically fix things. You'll need to start over as your file by now is likely hours of work to repair.
3. incomplete; missing required elements "dc:language" and "dc:title""
     Your content.opf is missing at least two required tags.
Add this to your opf (assuming I have correctly derived the title of your book and assuming the language is French):
  <dc:title>Une si Jolie Rencontre</dc:title>
  <dc:language>fr</dc:language>

  • VHD detaching and 137 & 14 errors

    I have a Hyper-V server running 2012. It has 4 VMs all running 2012. The host has a removable cartridge drive which contains a VHD for each VM which is attached within each VM as a drive used by Windows Server Backup.
    The problem is that sometimes, but not often, the VHD will become detached and so the backup fails. The VMs are not rebooting (which would require reattaching the VHD) so that's not the cause.
    I've looked in the event log and the only errors other than the failed backup are in the System Log. Event 137 from ntfs which says "the default transaction resource manager on volume <volumeID> encountered a non-retryable error and could not
    start"; and Event 14 from volsnap which says "the shadow copies of volume <volumeID> were aborted because of an IO failure on volume <volumeID>".
    I tend to think the errors came after the VHDs were no longer available, but I can't be certain.
    I have the same setup at other locations and they don't have this problem of the VHD randomly detaching.
    Anyone run into this before and know how to fix it?
    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan,
    The VHD is connect through Hyper-V settings or other methods such as iSCSI?
    If it is in Hyper-V settings, you may also need to check the host server and see if any reconnected occurs between the host and the removable cartridge.
    If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]
    The VHD is attached by using the Attach VHD menu command in Desk Management in the VM and using a UNC path. This is how we do it on all our clients with an RDX cartridge drive containing VHDs that are used by all VMs for backup drives.
    As I said, this is the only client this happens to and it's very random and never do all the VHDs become detached at the same time. It's usually one or maybe two of the 4 VMs that have this happen at the same time. I believe one time 3 of the 4 had it happen.
    So I don't think there would be any reconnect errors between the host and cartridge as if there were, then all VMs would experience the problem at the same time.
    Jonathan

  • I'm using the free epub reader, the file I imported says "Due to an error in the ePub file, the table of contents can't be displayed correctly.

    For experts: The NCX-file is not a valid xml-file..Can you help me? Donna

    Hi,
    It's actually not the first time I have seen this issue, please refer to this thread below:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/01bbe40c-f522-4148-a7cc-86303da5416d/your-file-could-not-be-printed-due-to-an-error?forum=excel
    Here are some suggestions:
    1. If this issue only occurs to one Workbook, copy the file contents and paste them to another new Workbook, try to print and check the result.
    2. Maybe Excel is configured to run in Compatibility Mode. Right click on the Excel shortcut, click Properties -> Compatibility tab -> If Excel is configured to run in compatibility mode, untick it and click OK.
    3. There may be some corruption in the Excel install, try to repair Office from Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
    I hope the information is helpful to you in this scenario.

  • ITMS error "network connection was refused"

    Whenever I click the search button to the right of certain songs in my itunes library to send me to their page in the music store, I get an error pop up saying "Network Connection was refused". But I can still enter the music store using the main link in itunes. These songs also won't retrieve their Album art (especially the Comic relief tracks) when I select the option in the menu once they are in my library. This problem only seems to occur with a hand full of songs.
    Any ideas on how to fix this would be most appreciated.
    Thanks
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    I got it to work.
    You have to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime and iPod updater.
    Then install iTunes 6.0.1 and download the standalone Qucktime. And then download then iPod updater. Then install Quicktime and the updater.

  • ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml must contain one and only one root file reference."

    Hi all,
    After correcting a table-of-contents error in my .epub file, I am unable to upload it via iTunes Producer. It lists this error message:
    ERROR ITMS-9000: "META-INF/container.xml in 9780615431727.epub must contain one and only one root file reference." at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    The file has been verified and only has one root file reference in the container.xml file.
    Has anyone been able to find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hello Forum Users…
    For those of you who have run into the upload roadblock, getting an error message similar to this:
    Package Summary:
    1 package(s) were not uploaded because they had problems:
              /Users/slm/Desktop/MUSIC to PICTURE for IBOOK/2012 MTP for iTUNES Bookstore/9780615600918.itmsp - Error Messages:
                        Apple's web service operation was not successful
                        Unable to authenticate the package: 9780615600918.itmsp
                        ERROR ITMS-9000: "OPS/ibooks.ncx(5): 'p50': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content9.xhtml'" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
    Following is a "specific" fix, but the idea of the fix will help you with your specifics too.
    I tried for 17 days to upload a book that looked and worked perfectly in iPAD via Preview.
    After many discussions with Apple, who to their credit stayed with me over 2-3 days, I decided to play a hunch.
    I went into a duplicated copy of the book and on every page, (because the error message was not telling the whole story), looked for what InDesign would call "Overset Text."
    Now... the "flaw" in iBOOK Author (hint) is that it won't advise you of this "overset text" as does InDesign.
    And to compound the matter, the exported ePUB document WORKS in iPAD Preview.
    See Screenshots from InDesign:
      Okay... Couldn't add it but it is a Warning Box that says there is overset text. (Characters which exceed the text box.)
    Nevertheless, I played this hunch, and sure enough found a few boxes with the + in them.  In other words I clicked on EVERY text holder and every text block in the entire document.
    Where I found + signs, I simply deleted some carriage returns from the iBOOK file... (please note… carriage returns and literally empty spaces that caused the overset text) and then erased all previous copies of the Music to Picture Book on my hard drive,  iTUNES and iPAD.
    The result?  A "text-book" upload with no snags!  As my Son would say… "Victory!"
    So, first make sure that you are using only PNGs, Jpegs and Movie files to iBook Specs.  Then... make sure there are no overset text boxes, which you must do manually.
    Enjoy & Godspeed!

  • When I error check my Pages-created epub, I get the error code "undeclared prefix: ibooks." How do I resolve this error?

    I'm creating an epub with Pages for upload to various sites. When I error check the epub, I get only one error message: "undeclared prefix: ibooks." The file itself works perfectly and looks fantastic when I open it directly from my computer/ipad with numerous Mac-compatible reading apps. However, I have no idea what distortions this "error" will cause when the epub is uploaded and redistributed. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did it create problems in distribution? Or is it irrelevant? Thanks for any practical and straight forward answers and/or suggestions.

    Based on that, it does sound like the sites you were having problems with had to do with filenames, not this error.  I can imagine a site running a standard EPUB verifier, and if any errors at all are thrown rejecting the file, but practically speaking an unknown META tag (what's causing this error) should be ignored by the parser and therefore by definition be harmless.
    I was using a free Java-based checker myself, and the fact that I managed to clear up the error indicates to me (unless I'm remembering wrong or misunderstood what fixed it in my case) that it's probably not technically the EPUB checker's failure to recognize the Apple META property; more accurately, it's that the XML dictionary the file is referencing doesn't include the Apple items in it, so the EPUB checker is correctly complaining about it.
    It could also be something as simple as Pages generating a file that is marked as an EPUB v2 file but that uses EPUB v3 features (I know my book was intended to be v3, and I could have inadvertently used headers for v2).
    Regardless, if the sites accept it, there's a good chance it is okay; DRM, at least, isn't going to change anything--only if an e-reader changes its EPUB parser at some point and breaks something, which seems unlikely.
    However, the best way to find out if it's going to work right is to test it.  Kindle is far and away the most popular reader, so try it with that and see if it comes out looking how you expect.  You should be able to view it in the Kindle application, and there is also a Kindle simulatior available from Amazon that lets you see how an e-paper Kindle will render books without having to buy one.  They have very limited EPUB support as far as features go, so it's definitely worth testing even if there are no errors--a lot of things iBooks will display just fine a Kindle will choke on.  The older e-paper Nooks, in my experience, are even worse.

    Hi
    The procedure you wrote i.e. SM50>Process>Trace>Dispatcher>Trace file displays the dev_disp file that would give the trace for the displatcher file.
    dev_w0 should be the trace for work process 00(first work process) that would be showing you a RED status for an error in it or because the threshold parameter for max run time for a work process would have exceeded.
    however the trace file holds the history for all the jobs/processes that ran in that work process. Some RED lines in the trace may indicate errors that may have occured previously in the WP.
    Every job executed in a WP has its logs maintained in the trace file.You can see the timestamps for each of them in the file. Check for the time you were logged in and see if the errors actually occured for your process.
    I hope this helps.Feel free to revert back for any queries.
    Regards
    Chen

    Hi TJ,
    normally 75 should work - but I would strongly recommend to upgrade the kernel first ... 75 is the initial delivery and should be patched during installation ...
    (even when the problem might persist)
    You might want to try the command SAPLICENSE as follows:
    (after that you copied the license to /tmp)
    saplicense '-install ifile=/tmp/E6I_WEBAS.txt'

  • Unable to open an epub borrowed from overdrive.

    Getting error "Error retrieving Adobe EPUB loan. E_ADEPT_TIMEOUT (error code 1069)"  Same issue occurs in Adobe Digital Editions, Kindle, and Android phone.  I tried authorizing another id and get "Error contacting Adobe activation service. (error code 2001)"   Both issue occur on all three devices.  These were all working 3 days ago

    I uninstalled Adobe Digital Edition from my computer cleared the cache and temp files from my browser.  Rebooted the system and then downloaded Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 form here: Adobe Digital Editions - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com   After reinstalling it I allowed me to authorize it and I was able to download my epub from Overdrive.
    I uninstalled the Overdrive app from both my Kindle and Android,  rebooted them, and then reinstalled the app.  They both immediately authorized and started working as normal.

    This is an example from a test file that basicly includes the <iostream>
    I have been looking around a bit but I'm not entirely sure of what I'm looking for except I suspect gcc can't find a file or something related to that.
    Also I was quite unsure however this is a newbie post or programming post...so I made a guess.
    Thanks on forehand
