1394 net adapter not working in device manager

I,m running the KT4 Ultra  with fire wire on board with XP prof. Every thing is working fine except in device manager I have two listings for the 1394 net adapter. The first has the yellow explantion mark, Code ten."this device won't start. And the second is working but listed as 1394 net adapter #2. On the adapter it has two bhig ports and one small port.I quess the small port is for cam corders. Can I disablr the first 1394 in device manager and just keep the second one. I don't have and fire wire cables so I don't know if the adapter is working on all ports. Thanks Bruce
KT4 Ultra/Lan

BIOS->Advanced- see if there is tab like Intel Ethernet ........... Go into it if it is there, and see if it shows if adapter is connected or not (Not link connection as this will bne disabled)
Take adapter out and see if it has bent pins, as this might bre causing the issue. If all fine, get it bnack into the slot for it and take motherboard out of the case and test on non conductive material (motherboard box is ok, NOT Anti conductive bag).  Also >>Posting Guide<<, and you could also try second BIOS (little switch, flip it when PC is OFF)

  • K8T Neo FIS2R "1394 Net Adapter" in XP's Device Manager

I can't get my firewire port to work or recognize devices attached to it!
I just built a system with the K8T Neo FIS2R and an Athlon 64 3400+ running at stock speeds.  It also has GeiL Golden Dragon (matched pair) PC-3200 DDR which is running 1 trcd increment higher than rated to ensure stability.  I have a lot of devices installed and have reinstalled windows fresh twice now with the same problem.
In device manager, the "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" seems to be fine, but in the "Network adapters" category, I see my D-Link Wireless NIC (fine) and "1394 Net Adapter" with a big yellow exclamation mark next to it.
This computer is for a music studio and I absolutely have to use the firewire port because DigiDesign's Digi002 needs to be attached to the computer and communicating properly in order for ProTools 6.1 (our main studio software) to install and run.
I also have the BIOS set to enable the on-board sound, but I also have a pro-audio card installed (the M-audio Delta 1010) and the computer doesn't even see the on-board sound device whether enabled or disabled, when the M-audio card is installed (but this isn't my main concern, getting the firewire working is).

Where?  Nobody seems to be able to provide a valid location to acquire this mysterious "1.3 beta BIOS".  Someone mentioned it is on the german MSI website.  If it is, it's hidden, because I scoured it and found nothing.

Can you Help - Toshiba Satellite Pro A10
    Model No PSA15E-01PFQ-EN
    Serial No Y3602494G
    Windows XP Pro
On the front of this laptop is a switch for wireless - this switch is set to On, Windows XP Pro cannot find any wireless device - Windows Device Manager does not show any wireless adater. Can you advice please - do I need to install Driver - Does this laptop support a wireless conection?
    Many Thanks
    Owen

    Hi
Usually if you have a wireless switch your notebook should have a wireless LAN card too. In your case I would try installing the driver. Then the WLAn card should be displayed in device manager properly:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
If this doesnt work you can try a BIOS update.
Are you running factory settings or have you installed your own Windows version?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3043ee Realtek Network Adapter not found in Device Manager

Hi I own an HP Pavilion dv6-3043ee, 64bit and running Windows 7. And somehow the network adapter for the LAN got uninstalled for some reason. Now after posting something on the site I finally downloaded the driver for my laptop.
Now another problem, after or at the end of the installation process a pop up message was shown:
"The Realtek Network Controller was not found,
If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."
Now I checked Device Manager to see if the Realtek Network Adapter was there but it wasn't. All I can see are:
    -Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi Adapter
    -Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
    -Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocl TDI)
    -TAP-Windows Adapter V9
    Someone please help. Thank you.

If device is identified but there is no driver for it, it will be appeared as unknown device in Device Manager with question mark icon (?), are you seeing such thing in device manager?
If not, you should refer to your PC manufacturer's website and download.

  • W510 w/WinXP, device manager reports issue w/1394 Net Adapter (error code=10)

I recently reimaged a brand new W510 w/WinXP w/SP3 & installed Lenovo Toolbox utility. Which immediately identified an issue w/the 1394 Net Adapter in Device Manager. Looking at the Device Status (details) it states "The Device Cannot Start (code 10)" and suggests reloading the drivers. I've tried updating them using the UPDATE DRIVER button and searching the web but it states Windows cannot find a better match then the one I have. I've copied the driver from a 2nd WinXP machine (nic1394.sys). I've installed all of the Microsoft updates (for Critical Software and Hardware). Installed the Lenovo Driver Update utility & installed all available driver updates and flashed the BIOS and nothing has resolved it.  I've run the full Lenovo toolbox diags and everything passes (including the 1394 adapters) I've also sent the PC into Lenovo for repair and they indicate everything tests fine as well..
Question, does anyone one know if this device is compatible w/WinXP ? Any other suggestions ?
    Thanks,

  • G470 Bluetooth not listed under Device Manager and not working

    Hi,
Can someone teach me how to solve my G470 problem?

    hi athirah11,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices and check if the Bluetooth device is being listed.
    - Link to picture
    - Link to picture
    2. If the bluetooth device shows up under the Device Manager, do the following:
        a. Under Control Panel > Programs, uninstall the Bluetooth driver/software (reboot if necessary)
        b. Run the Bluetooth Driver Installer
         -  this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, the Bluetooth device and its components should now appear normally under the Device Manager.
If the bluetooth device still doesn't show up, can you provide the model number of your G470 (eg. 59xxxxxx) fur further checking.
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • 1394 Net Adapter problem in XP

I have tried e-mailing this issue to MSI tech support, but unfortunately they did not have the answer I was looking for.  Below is the main issue.
I am using Windows XP with this motherboard (model# MS-6704-030).  Everything within Device Manager is working except for the 1394 Net Adapter.  It has a yellow "!" next to it, and the description is: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Everything else in XP comes up perfectly fine, even the 1394 controller (VIA OHCI compliant).  I have successfully connected my Creative Labs Nomad 3 Jukebox through the firewire port and it works great.  I have removed the 1394 net adapter and restarted the system several times.  Each time XP recognizes the net adapter again but still has the same problem as above.  I have no idea why this is happening.
I'm actually one of the few people that wants to use networking through the firewire port.  If anyone has any clues, I would appreciate it!  Thanks!

I just took a look at the thread you mentioned and it's interesting.  I'll have to check those settings:
    1.  -Is ACPI enabled in the bios ? (probably)
-Is APIC enabled in the bios, and what MPS table ver ? (not sure what that is)
-Is PNP OS disabled in the bios ? (I'm pretty sure it's enabled, but why would this cause an issue?)
-Are all resources controlled by "auto" in the bios ? (probably)
I'll know more when I check tonight.

  • HELP!!! AE3000 Adapter Not Working With Windows 7

Hello, I have a Gateway desktop with Windows 7 installed on it. I recently bought the Linksys AE3000 adapter to
get internet for it, but whenever I plug it in, the light doesn't come on or anything. I tried the CD as well and it says that
the adapter is not being detected. I've tried different usb's in the same port and they've worked perfectly, I've also tried the
adapter on different computer's and it's also worked perfecftly.
I've downloaded the right driver for it and installed it on my computer, but when I try to update it, it says: "Windows has found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install."  The adapter shows up in device manager and everything but it just won't work no matter what I do, is there anything I could do to fix it?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It would also help if you will try to install (if possible) another adapter to that computer. In that way, you will be able to determine if which device was having the problem. By the way, have you tried contacting the computer manufacturer or Microsoft on this one? In that way, they may be able to assist you in fixing the concern with that computer.

  • Graphics Adapter not working

Hello HP support, I ran a game after a long time and it was lagging, so i check and find out that it was not using dedicated graphics that is Radeon HD 8670m so i check device manager and there was only one display adapter which was the integrated graphics Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I then click on show hidden device and there it(Radeon HD 8670m) was, but i wasn't working it said that Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45). I then uninstall the driver in a hope that this problem will fix after reinstalling the drivers, but it does not!.... now there is no trace of the Graphics card not in the device manager not even hidden... What should i do?

    Been there tried that.
I have done a full backup and restore... and the joys of Microsoft's "This software has already been registered" hops.
If the drivers are not recognising after the first run through or second... what makes you think they will after the third on a fresh install?
The DVD restore is Vista Home, I have upgraded to Business and then to Ultimate out of desperation... that will make the 6th install and seeing as the issue hasn't been resolved in any of others I just think I'll be wasting my time.
I think there must be something more fundemental not working if the driver can't find resources.

  • My dvd drive not recognized in device manager, getting the yellow explanation mark.

my dvd drive not recognized in device manager, getting the yellow explanation mark. Tried uninstallingdevice drive and scanning for new hardware. scanned for updates, etc. I getting no results. The laptop is a Pavilion DV5. Thanks

    Hi,
It could be that the drive has a Hardware issue, but try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, open Device Manager, right click the DVD drive and select Uninstall.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows rediscover the device and check.

  • Mini-Displayport to DVI adapter not working, but Mini-Displayport to VGA and Thunderbolt work fine

Mini-Displayport to DVI adapter not working, but Mini-Displayport to VGA and Thunderbolt work fine.
This is a brand new MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2012) just received.  I suspect that this is a hardware problem as:
The mini-displayport to DVI adapter and the external monitor that I am utilizing connect and operate just fine using my older MacBook Pro (mid-2010) with the same OS.
The new MacBook Pro powers the external monitor with a mini-displayport to VGA adapater without issue.
The new MacBook Pro powers an Apple Thunderbolt display without issue.
Both MacBook Pro's are running OSX Lion 10.7.4.
The only combination which does not work is the mini-displayport to DVI adapater used in conjunction with the brand new MacBook Pro (mid-2012).
All adapters and components (mini-displayport adapters) are Apple retail adapter.
I have tried several external monitors, including my Dell U2412m.
When I connect the mini-displayport to DVI adapater to the new MacBook Pro (mid-2012), nothing happens. The external monitor reports "no signal" and attempts to go into sleep mode.  Using the "Detect displays" button has no effect, even when used multiple times.  Rebooting does not help, nor does resetting the SMC or PRAM.
Any other suggestions before I take it to the Genius Bar?

I turns out that the logic board of my MacBook Pro was faulty (despite being brand new).
I took it to the Apple Store, presented the problem, and one of the Tech's came to the same conclusion that I had -- hardware failure.  Phone support was no help in the matter (and even told me that what I was trying to do wasn't a supported option, which is rediculous).  However, the Genius Bar did take care of the problem, and my MacBook Pro was back to me with a replaced logic board within a few days.
    Hope that htis helps.
