14-N009ax /virtualization technology problem
Hi all,
I have problem with virtualization technology.
I want to use Windows phone emulator. So i have enabled virtualization technology.
But the computer hangs at boot logo with the circle spinning continuously.
This problem is similar like this.
BIOS is updated F16.
Thanks.
OK. That means that you didn't have a successful BIOS update before.
You can download BIOS F.15 from the following URL.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-134409-1&cc=kr&dlc=en&lc=en...
I downloaded the version f.12 as an example. This was done on my desktop PC in a sandboxed environment. That is why the update is greyed out and Update is blocked is seen. I did not want to whack my gaming system.
double clicked on the softpaq and the following window appears.
As you can see, you have options. We want to use the usb option first and for firmware management we will use the copy files option next. Plug a usb flash drive into a usb port for this one.
Inside the Hewlett-Packard folder in the usb flash drive. You can boot to the flash drive to update your BIOS. Each .bin and .sig files with the same name are a BIOS image and signature file.
Now the copy files option. You can copy the files to a usb flash drive or a directory in your operating system. In this case I chose the latter.
Inside the folder on my PC.
Now go back to the BIOS firmware management window and path to the directory where you copied the BIOS files to.

Enabling Virtualization Technology to Install Windows 8 on Virtual Machine?
Hello…I have an HP HPE-310t Desktop computer that is currently running the 32-bit version of Windows 7.
I'm interested in installing the Windows 8 Customer Preview on a virtual machine such as Virtual Box. I've done a little bit of research on how to do this, but there is one thing I am unclear about, and so I'm requesting assistance here.
The documentation I've read states my processor must support Virtualization Technology. The processor is a quad-core, so I'm assuming it does. However, the documentation also says Virtualization Technology is often disabled by default, and may need to be enabled to use it.
I'm not sure how to do this. I'm assuming it has to be done in BIOS. Can anyone please tell me where to find the option to enable Virtualization Technology, or check to see if is already enabled?
Thank you for your assistance. J. DannielHello, and thank you for replying.
I actually found the Virtualization Technology option in BIOS and enabled it. I had no trouble installing Windows 8 on Virtual Box.
However, while I'm sitting here typing this, I should say something: I did install Windows 8 Customer Preview on my computer when it first came out. (I did a full system backup with Acronis True Image prior to the installation.)
Anyway, the installation went smoothly, and I installed a dozen or so programs on it with no problems. When I installed a Thunderbird E-Mail backup program, I rebooted, and my computer froze at the HP Welcome/BIOS sign-on screen.
It just stayed there. I shut the computer off for a minute or two, restarted it, and it froze again. I began to feel a touch of panic. I shut the computer off yet again, waited 15 minutes, and restarted it using the Acronis True Image boot CD. Fortunately, it booted up, so I restored my backup.
For the brief period of time I used Windows 8 on my actual system and not in Virtual Box, my reaction was highly negative. I was VERY impressed with the revised Explorer--they finally got that right. I actually LIKE the ribbon in it!
But Metro? The elimination of a Start button? It's hell on earth to use a keyboard and mouse to get to a Shut Down, Log Off, or Restart option.
I can't envision a scenario where I would upgrade my computer to Windows 8. Messing with it once in a while in Virtual Box...yeah, I'll do that. I can nuke the whole thing without much chaos.
Thanks again! Jd -
Lenovo G510 Intel(R) Virtualization Technology
hi.
i have a g510, intel 4700 mq corei7
i enabled Intel Virtual Technology under the Configuration Tab.
after that in windows 8.1 :
run Intel(R) Processor Identification Utility
>>>>>it shows Intel(R) Virtualization Technology: No<<<<
what is the problem?????
how can i solve it??????????Hi,
A couple of things that can cause that to happen: on most machines, it's necessary to fully cycle power (shut down, power up) after changing the VT setting in BIOS. Also, having Hyper-V enabled in Windows Features can hide the VT status.

How to enable virtualization technology
hello
I'm working on toshiba satellite L850-b404 laptop with intel i5-3210m processor which shows the intels' website that it supports virtualization technology
http://ark.intel.com/products/67355/Intel-Core-i5-3210M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz-rPGA
Also virtualization technology is enabled in my bios settings.
But I can't run virtual machine properly I'm using virtual box and getting this message
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it."
Plus when i run intel (R) Processor Identification Utility it's shows me no next to virtualization technology
Any suggestions?
Solved!

Intel Virtualization Technology in the MacBook?
I know several people have posted here that they have had success running Parallel's virtualization software. I was wondering if this implies that the MacBook contains the Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) chipset that purported to be in the iMac and MacBook Pro?
Article about MBP's chipset:

Types of sun's virtualization technology are avalible in the ultrasparc T5 series
I've been trying to figure out which one to use. I heard that the T1-T4 series have two types of virtualization technologies (ie containers and paravirtualization) but the T5 series has one more virtualization technology added to it. Any advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks
In the T and in the M10 families we have only one virtualization technology. This is OVM Server for SPARC. But if you look on M5 and M6 new machines, we have added with OVM Server for SPARC an second virtualization level named Dynamic Domain.
You can of course add zones with Solaris 10 or 11 if you want an additional level. Then in this case we can have 2 or 3 levels !!! -
Satellite U500 - How to enable Intel virtualization technology?
How to enable Intel Virtualization Technology on Satellite U500 or if this feature is already available or not because im VMware configure in my laptop and when I wont to run it I'm getting the message
*You have configured this virtual machine to use a 64-bit guest operating system. However, 64-bit operation is not possible. This host does not support VT.*
By the way my Laptop is Core2duo, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, RAM 3GBHi hersi,
Yes, thats the important model number.
According the Toshiba website your model has Intel Core2Duo T6600 CPU. So I have checked the Intel page directly and T6600 CPU doesnt support Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x). You can check this yourself:
http://ark.intel.com
Unfortunately there is no option to enable Virtualization :( -

Do the Intel chips in our current MBP support Virtualization Technology?
Do the Intel chips in our current MBP support Virtualization Technology? I think there are going to be many advantages to having that supported, esp in the future. the ability to run multiple OSs at the same time is coming and i want to know if we will be able to take advantage of that technology with our current chips.
Hypervisor support doesn't allow the system to switch between active INTERACTIVE OSs.
Its designed as a more efficient replacement for products like Qemu and VMWare. Like Xen, it brings down the level of emulation/virtualization closer to hardware so that no OS has any kind of priviledge over the others (not really any host OS, just one that has control of the hypervisor.
Its awesome technology, and neat to see, but its really geared towards server virtualization (we use a variant of this in production, and can put 2-3 virtual servers on each physical machine). -
MS-7235 Virtualization BIOS problem
I'm running Ubuntu Linux and am unable to run virtual XP because of a BIOS problem. Currently, I have the original BIOS which was Phoenix 1.1. Does anyone know if I update the BIOS if they resolved this issue?
Thanks for the reply.
I think it is a BIOS problem because installing a virtual XP machine within Ubuntu results in an error stating that the BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant. I thought that since I have the original BIOS installed that updating it to the current one might resolve the error. This computer should support virtualization.
Also, it is a little tough to determine the exact BIOS to update with at MSI. A number of motherboards come up when I search for MS-725. None of them have Phoenix BIOS
