1409 Error opening .mov file

I just upgraded to Quicktime Pro so that I could convert some .mov files I created with iMovie into .mp4 format.
Every time I try to open any of the .mov files created by iMovie I get a 1409 error.
The files are all located on my local system, not on a separate drive.
I'd really appreciate some help.

Hey. I had the same problem with JDeveloper 11g 11.1.2.1.0 (R2) in Windows 7, and I solved it by uninstalling the following automatic updates of windows, it is not a problem of a project or specific application in JDeveloper, because it occurs at trying to run the integrated WebServer.
These are the uninstalled updates:
KB2647518
KB2665364
KB2641653
KB2639308
KB2621440
I hope to serve.

  • After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)

    Hi all,
I'm new to after effects. I have just started receiving the following error every time I try to render my movie:
"After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)".
Yesterday morning, I was able to render movies, however, after I did Apple's latest update I've started receiving the following error. What is happening is that I'm trying to render a movie. It gets to a certain point in the movie (about 0;00;16;09) and then this error pops up. This morning I've tried to repair the permissions with disk utility, but that doesn't seem to have helped.
I've searched Google and the Adobe support forums with no luck. Please help.
Thanks in advance for you help,
    William

Have been able to downgrade to QT 7.3 using Pacifist. Did NOT require re-install of OS.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread...347251&tstart=0
    Download the right version here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
    Panther: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...forpanther.html
    Tiger: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...31fortiger.html
    Leopard: http://www.apple.com/support/downlo...forleopard.html
    Install with Pacifist
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Now that I am back to QT7.3, iTunes7.6 is now asking me to update QT to 7.4 in order to be able to view the new movie rental feature of the iTunes store... which sorta sheds some light on the no permission error. Now that iTunes is renting, not just selling, movies, QT is now all fussy about ownership and permissions. Just a guess.

  • Can't open .mov files in quicktime anymore

I can't think of any system changes that I've made recently but a few days ago I was able to open .mov files with quicktime and now I can't. I get the following error when I try to open one. Error -1856: an unknown error occurred (filename.mov) I've uninstalled quicktime, rebooted and reinstalled with no luck. I've searched these forums and googled the error number but can't find anything. Does anyone know what might be going on? Thanks.

Actually, I can't open anything in quicktime anymore. I've tried opening avis, mov, mp4 and m4a files... all give the same error message and number. I've reinstalled both qt and itunes but no luck.

  • Error Opening Movie - The Movie Could Not Be Opened

Quicktime is giving me trouble and it's not giving me a reason why. It doesn't want to play movies dl'd from the internet. It tells me 'Error opening movie... The movie could not be opened.' The clip in question is a wmv. I tried opening the file in DIVx and iTunes but no dice; they didn't even recognize that I was trying to open a movie. I got the same problem with some films transferred from my old PC via a flash drive (not all, but some).
I am on a MacBook Pro that I just got this week; my first Mac. I am running OSX Tiger 10.4.8. 2.33 Ghz proc.
Please be gentle with the explanations; I know very little about computers.
Oh, also, in the DL'd files menu - you know, the one that pops up when you DL something - the file DLs with the icon looking like a blank piece of paper. Probably not important, but it sure doesn't look like something playable or executable.

"the file DLs with the icon looking like a blank piece of paper."
When the download window pops up type .wmv in the window before you click the download button or OK button.
If the above does not work then download the following FREE player:
    Flip4Mac
If the above player does not play the .wmv file then please post the URL and/or link of this file for us to test it out for you.

  • Error opening url 'file: What does it mean?

When I test some of my as3 movies a new window opens and I can test the file. Yet when I test other movies I get an (error opening url 'file message.) What causes that? It seems to me that if a movie plays it should also test in a new window.

It doesn' work. I only got the one file open. The swf file won't open at
all. The fla file won't test. But when I debug the fla file the flash player
debugger opens the movie in a new window and I get this message in the
output window: "Attempting to launch and connect to Player using URL
    /Users/schweideltyson/Desktop/Circle.swf"
    SWF Users:schweideltyson:Desktop:Circle.swf - 2887 bytes after
    decompression
Could it be my flash player is not working properly? I wish I knew.

  • Error opening movie

i am trying to open a video file that i downloaded. the file is in MPEG Movie format but everytime i try to open it, the messege error opening movie. the movie could not be opened comes up. How do i this file to play ing QT

Usually, stuff opens on my husbands computer that doesn't on mine (non-mac -- ouch)That could be a problem. Normally I might recommend trying to open the file in an altenate media player and checking its own "get info" window it the clip loads. But it looks like this may be an option here. If all applications refuse to open the file, my next guess would be that you may simply have a corrupted file. You can, of course, simply try to download the file again and see if it works the second time. Or you could post the URL for the file and see if anyong else can access it.
it is titled explainer.qt -- is this a usuable file extension?I'm not familiar with such. The .qtl file extension would be a "QT Media Link" but would be a very small file sinace all it dos is open QT Player, pass the location of the main file on a server, and tell the player how to play the file. Again, this looks like a case where it would be best to examine the download source for additional information.

  • Can't open movie files

I downloaded windows media for mac and I still can't open movie files. When I click open a error window pops up saying "the file is not a movie file." That's crap I can open the files on my pc but not on my mac. By the way the files are on a external hard drive western digital my book. Is there some way I can convert the files to play on quicktime? Any kind of ideas would be helpful.

  • Error opening movie quicktime error

Just finished rendering a 2hr. movie that took a day to render, when i tried to open it up "error opening movie".
The file is 29gigs but won't open.I've tried Compressor, Final cut, Imovie,Quick time,..nothing opens it.
This was done on my G4 laptop
    Help
    Vic

It all has to do with the format of the file you are exporting (I assume you are exporting and not just rendering a sequence). If you are exporting from FCP, "Item settings" will create a new file with the same settings as your sequence or clip. If you are creating the file from another program such as after effects, any available formats there should be supported by QuickTime, but you might possible need to enable an additional codec for QT.
Otherwise, if the redering process is preventing your project file from reopening, I would manually throw away the render files and trash your prefs.

  • Garageband export to quicktime gives "error opening movie"

    hi
i've tried to export a movie without success. i imported video from imovie and added 3 audio tracks from itunes. i exported at full resolution several times to quicktime, but each time gives "error opening movie" could not open movie dialogue box. i exported it to idvd and succeeded. but i need quicktime. any help?
    thanks
    bill

I have tried trashing the plist file. The files look fine through the media manager when copied to the other profile. They look like they are suppose to. The small videos also look fine when played on that computer. Unfortunately our other mac pro computer doesn't have final cut so i can't open and play proress files and my laptop, due to the extreme resolution can't be played on my laptop with final cut studio installed. Tomorrow i'm going to install the proress decoder on the one mac pro to check the files and make sure the self contained is checked but i'm almost positive on that. Other than nuking the profile i don't know what else to do. This is really weird.

  • QuickTime X on Lion crashes on opening movie files

Hi — am running OS X 10.7.3 on a 2010 MacBook Air, and have discovered that QuickTime (10.1) will not open movie files (tested with .mov and .m4v so far).
    The error includes this line:
Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[NSViewController loadView] could not load the "MGPlayerDocumentView" nib.'
And upon trying again I get the message:
The application “QuickTime Player” unexpectedly quit while trying to restore its windows.
Any suggestions on fixing this?  The files open fine in iTunes and VLC, but QuickTime crashes every time.  In earlier days I'd have reinstalled it, but with the download of Lion that doesn't seem to be an option (no installer files available).

Ah well.  Resorted to reinstalling Lion from the recovery partition, and that seems to have fixed it.

  • Error opening fla file.

    Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Flash, so I apologize if this issue is a bit mindless for the veterans.
I am working with Flash CS6 on a Macbook Pro and recently encountered a problem when trying to open a file. An error message pops up, saying 'there was an error opening the file...'. No further details are available.
Looking at the file information, there is still data there, as the size is about 300MB.
I've tried some amateur sleuthing online for a solution, mostly involving changing the .fla extentsion to .rar and repairing the file that way, but nothing I have tried has resolved the issue.
Am I essentially out of luck, or is there a reliable solution for this kind of problem?
    Thanks for any help!
    Boots

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply, kglad.
I had actually previously zipped and unzipped the file and ended up with a folder full of stuff that I didn't know what to do with. Again, this is where my amateur understanding comes into play.
In the unzipped folder, there are 'bin', 'library' and 'meta-inf' folders, as well as a 'DOMDocument.xml' file, a 'MobileSettings.xml' file, a 'PublishSettings.xml' file and finally a file called 'mimetype'.
Should I be encouraged by this?
I'm pretty clueless at this point about how I might proceed from here. I see that the 'library' folder contains all the sound files for the project (it's a soundboard), but is there a way to go from this point to recovering the project as it was before this issue came up? Or am I stuck with starting the project all over gain?
    Thanks again for the help!

    Hi Marco,
as far as I know, you have to use the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = SHARED option in your init...ora file.
In this case you have one password file for one or more databases. It can only have the entries for SYS and INTERAL.
I'm sorry to cannot answer your question of having different password files for different databases %-)

When opening a pdf document in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, saved either locally or on the network, I receive the message "Error opening preferences file The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open.  Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."  I've tried saving this file with a different name and I still receive this error.  If I choose to open this document with Adobe Reader 9, I have no issues.  Why would I be having this issue with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro?

What release of System Update are you trying to install? What OS are you using ie, win 7, 8, 8.1?
Did you really mean IMPORT failed (not export)?
Are your running the install . exec from a Network drive?
Please look in  C:\users\*your id*\appdata\local\temp for the msi install log and post 50 lines of the log around where the error occurred.
