1440x900@75Hz not supported on my monitor?

Hello all, I have a Mac Mini bought from 2008, and I have it hooked up to my LCD monitor.
I have it set up right now at 1440x900 at 60Hz, but it doesn't seem to allow me to move it up to 75Hz. The thing is, though, this monitor definitely supports 1440x900 @75Hz. I have a Windows computer that uses this monitor too, and it can do 75Hz at the same resolution.
I have looked at the display settings in both Leopard and the most recent version of Snow Leopard, both are the same. They only allow me to go to 60Hz (in fact, 60Hz is the only non-grayed out option in the refresh choices).
The monitor is an Envision G19LWK. It is hooked up through a DVI cable.
What is the problem here? Is there a way to override this?

Hello Euchre, thanks for the reply, and sorry for the late response.
I tried out that program, but whenever I set it to run at 75Hz, the screen stays blank. I have to reboot the Mac to get it back to a working display resolution and refresh rate.
However, it seems I've solved the little problem here on my own. Hooking it up via VGA oddly enough allows me to run it at 75Hz. The reasoning behind this is beyond me, but its nice to see things move around at this refresh rate.

  • DVI to VGA adapter, monitor says "input not supported"

I have just received my MBP yesterday and, when I attempted to attach it via DVI to VGA adapter to my Acer AL2016W flat panel LCD, the monitor told me "input not supported". I was under the impression VGA is VGA is VGA. Perhaps I am mistaken. There is no DVI port on this monitor so I am, essentially, screwed ATM unless I purchase yet another monitor - this one is less than a year old. I require my MBP to be attached to an external monitor due to a disability, and am not sure what to do. I don't believe it to be an isolated issue, especially after viewing some of the other posts about the graphics card being an issue as well. I wish Apple would come forward with a resolution. I realize this issue has probably been posted somewhere already, however I am unable to sift through all the posts due to the aforementioned disability and inability to attach to external monitor. I just can't sit here for that long, so I offer my apologies.

First off, are you connecting in the proper sequence? That is:
    1. MBP and monitor powered on
    2. connect monitor's VGA cable to the DVI-to-VGA adapter
    3. connect DVI-to-VGA adapter to the MBP's DVI port
In that way, the MBP should autodetect the monitor and set the resolution appropriately. Else, the output resolution of the MBP may not suit the monitor, and the monitor will give a "not supported" error.
As a side note, have you considered the options in System Preferences > Universal Access? Options include Zoom, VoiceOver (spoken screen selections), making the cursor larger, and other enhancements for the visually impaired.
    Hope this helps...

  • Monitor says VIDEO MODE NOT SUPPORTED after changing display settings

HELP! I am about to have a nervous breakdown with my mac mini! I hooked up the mac to my Philips LCD via DVI. No problem at all. But because the screen is only 15" I wanted to play around with the display settings a bit. So I changed the resolution from it's original 1204x768 to the one higher (not sure of numbers) and to my HORROR, I now can't get any picture at all - it says "VIDEO MODE NOT SUPPORTED". I have tried everything I can think of. I have rest the P-RAM, I have unplugged all cables, plugged the back in again, I bought the mac into work and hooked it up to my monitor and changed the resolution back to 1024x768 which is what it was on originally and that STILL didn't work. I can see the Apple logo and then it goes black and comes up with the error message. HELP! What am I doing wrong - I can't believe one click of a mouse button has rendered my display useless!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try booting the mini without the display connected, and then, once the system is running, connect the display. This will often force the system to default to a low resolution, and then correctly detect the display when it is connected.
If that doesn't help, with the display connected, boot into safe mode (hold the shift key down when starting up) and once the system is running, change the resolution to 1024x768, and ensure the correct refresh rate is selected. Rebooting normally ought then to give you a good display.
If all else fails, boot into safe mode with the display connected, and then in the Finder's file menu, use the 'find' option to search for 'windowserver' (no quotes). You should get 2 or 3 results, including one with a string of alphanumeric characters. Move all of them to the trash and restart normally.

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

I'm experiencing a similar problem with an LG Flatron monitor which my MBP no longer recognizes.  I've tried installing all the updates listed above but have not been succesful. Everytime I get a message saying that this software is not supported on my system. Can anyone tell me why I can't install the updates?

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • External video monitor not supported?

I started to use color APP just recent and soon found out that Color does not support live preview to my external video monitor via Firewire, I have 2 devices to choose, DSR11 or a DAC 10 ( DV Converter ), firewire to Component.
I hope that Apple resolve this issue fairly quick, many color users like me that don't have an IO card like AJ Kona or Decklink, color will be useless without an external video monitor for color correction.
    Any input will be appreciated.
    Sigi

Because of the reduced colorspace required for DV, I'd wager it's unlikely that Color will ever be made to go out via FireWire to a DV deck or DAC.
Decklink Intensity - $249 or $399? is a potential alternative...

Please Apple code monkeys ..tear down this problem.

It shouldn't supossed to be like this, but until they send an update, this workarround will work.

  • 10.7.3 external monitor "input not supported"

I have an external monitor connected with the Aplle VGA adaptor to my MBP.
It has been working fine for the last year.
    Today I installed 10.7.3
And now I get the message "Input Not Supported" on the external display.
    Not impressed.
Any ideas or do I have to roll back this update.
    Cheers.

    OK now it gets silly.
I have also had a problem, since I instaled Lion, that when I open my MBP the screen is black and no amount of encouragement will bring it to life.
So, I have to switch on my external monitor.  My deskptop thern appears on the externam monitor, so I select "Detect Displays" from the menu bar and, kazam, my MBP screen comes to life and the desktop moves there.
It only remains for me to switch off the external monitor and wait for Apple to provide a fix.
Now, remember my current problem, in  that the external monitor wil not work and shows "input not supported".
So today I opened my MBP and sadness, the screen is BLACK.  So I switched on my external monitor and WAHEY! it worked and the desktop appeared on the external monitor.
Excited at the prospect that my problem had somehow magilcally fixed itself overnight, I selected "Detect Displays" and my MBP screen duly appeared and the desktop meved there.
The external monitor then stopped working and showed the message "Input Not Supported"
I also have a related VNC problem that is still outstanding, so I think it is fair to say that there are several issues around external monitors with Lion.

  • CAD 8.5 - desktop monitoring/recording not "supported" in WIN7 64-bit, Really ?

Does "not supported' mean it doesn't work at all or TAC wont support it.  Anyone have any experience good or bad ?
I'm pretty disappointed that Cisco finally steps into the modern age with their first support for a 64-bit operating system in the year 2011 but yet its not fully functional.
What do we do for users across WAN links etc.. for desktop monitoring ?  A 3rd party app, etc..
Will UCCX 9.x support the Built in Bridge (BIB) ?
From the CAD user guide, page 8 in the PDF
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/user/guide/cad85ccxug-cm.pdf
NOTE: Desktop-based monitoring and recording is not supported on Windows 7 64-bit running WoW64. However, Unified CM-based monitoring and SPAN-based monitoring and recording are supported on Windows 7 64-bit running WoW64.

Just curious but did you upgrade from UCCX8 to 8.5? If so, were you experiencing similar issues on that version or were these introduced in 8.5? We are currently with a UCCX/CAD 8 install and they are having quite a few problems with CAD, specifically with CSD. They did not previously have these issues on UCCX 4 prior to building out this new UCCX 8 system. Needless to say they are puzzled as to why they have experiencing a 'downgrade' after upgrading to a much newer version. They have had little luck with TAC so far but there is some progress. Regardless, I'm just curious if alot of these issues are related to the new rev of code (beginning with 8) being linux based v/s window. Essentially requiring a re-write of the code I would assume.

  • Rage 128 Pro and HP Monitor= 'Input Not Supported'. Need help.

    I recently purchased this monitor for my Mac G4 (Digital audio model with Rage 128 Pro);
    http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=7246171&Redir=1&description= HP-Smart%20Buy%20w19%2019-inch%20LCD%20Widescreen%20Flat%20Panel%20Monitor-Monit ors
When I power up the Mac I can see the apple logo as OSX starts to boot but soon thereafter I get a black screen with a little floating window that says, 'Input Not Supported'.
What does this mean in technical terms and do I need to return the monitor?
    Thanks.

    Hi-
The monitor is telling you that the input being received is not supported. This is because the rage 128 is too weak a graphics card to drive the HP Monitor ( or any LCD over 17" for that matter).
You will need a better graphics card to run the display.
As for which graphics card, basically, most any 4x AGP Mac compatible card +other than+ the Rage 128 (or Pro) will work to drive the monitor.

  • Problems with new display, "Input not supported"

So, I just got myself a new LCD screen (Acer AL2016WCbd) for my G4 (DP 1Ghz Quicksilver 2002 w/ 10.5 installed). The monitor seems to work alright and everything with my Windows box, but whenever I try to use it with my G4 the monitor goes black, flashes an error box saying "Input not supported," and then goes to sleep. It does show the boot screen... the gray background and Apple logo... but goes black after that.
I've tried rebooting, resetting the PMU, tried booting in Single User and Verbose mode, tried hooking the G4 up to another monitor and lowering the resolution to 800x600 @ 75Hz and then reconnecting the Acer, but no dice.
My only other ideas are to try hooking it up over DVI instead of VGA (though I'd need to get an adapter for that); playing around with a few different things in target disk mode by hooking it up to my laptop (which I don't currently have); and trying to boot from my Leopard install disk (when I find it). Might any of these things do any good? Is there anything else I haven't thought of? Or am I just wasting my time?

OK, so I can get the display working if I first boot up with another display, set the resolution to whatever I want it to be, then hotswap in the Acer that's been giving me the problems. But once I restart my computer I have to go through the whole process again. Either the tower isn't picking up on the display profile from the monitor or the monitor just isn't sending it to the tower.
My question now is: is there a way to for me to lock the resolution and refresh rate, so it always outputs at, say, 1680x1050 at 60Hz? Both Newegg and Acer have been giving me all kinds of (excuse me here) sh** about how they can't help me, so I really don't want to deal with them anymore by having to return/exchange the monitor or get it serviced. I mean, I know the thing works and I know the resolution I want it to run at. I just want to be able to lock it so Leopard doesn't revert to some unsupported output every time I reboot.

  • Xrandr not supporting old resolution

Upgrading Xorg completely broke my system. Lots of not-fun later, I found out that setting up dual-head has to be done with xrandr, which seems like a good way to do it.
However, xrandr does not support setting the resolution from before...
I want to have my two screens running at 1280x1024 (which is quite normal I think, anyone having two 19''ers ).
Now xrandr tells me, that the maximum resolution I can use is 1920x1200. Perviously with xinerama I could set the resolution to 2560x1024 without any problems.
Anyone have similar problems? Anyone have a solution?

    I have a Mac Mini Late 2012, 16GB ram, 2.6GHz, Intel core i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000  1024 MB.
Many of the posts/solutions that I read recommended copying the file:  AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext  (contains video/res/buffer settings?) from a Mavericks Time Machine backup. Next downloading a program called KextBeast (installs .kext files) and run KextBeast to install that file into Yosemite. Since I didn't have a Mavericks Time Machine backup - I did a fresh install of Mavericks then copied the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to an external drive. Next I did another fresh install of Yosemite. Booted up into Yosemite. Copied the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to my desktop. Ran the KextBeast program and it installed the file exactly where it is suppose to be. I rebooted and then opened System Preferences/Displays -chose the "Scaled" option and there was the 3440x1440 resolution at the top of the list. My LG 34UM94-P Monitor is running in all its 3440x1440 glory!!!!
To locate the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext in Mavericks:
From the Finder, select Go > Go to folder...  and enter "/System/Library/Extensions/".
KextBeast can be downloaded here: www.tonymacx86.com
I have to admit I was worried about running KextBeast - just because I know nothing about the program - but I figured worse comes to worse I would do a fresh install back to Mavericks. But KextBeast worked like a charm! If you have the know-how using Terminal you can do manually what KextBeast does -do a search for jonathans Blog. KextBeast requires that you first copy the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file to your desktop.
    SOME OTHER NOTES:
There were some posts that recommended getting a Hex Editor and editing the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext file - I assume they meant the version of the file that is used by Yosemite - but I went the easy way.
    Hopefully this is helpful,
    dc
WUPS - I forgot to mention that I am using an Apple Thunderbolt cable NOT a DisplayPort cable.

Apparently ever since they upgraded from e17 to e18, they now require XComposite. I'm using the default package through pacman. Pacman installed all the required packages it apparently needs. I've tried uninstalling e18 completely and reinstalling which didn't work. When I do a pacman search for XComposite, E-core-X and XRender, the updated libraries show up.
Do I need to build every package from scratch just to get this to work?  Or is there an easier way? I tried googling the problem, but only four sites came up with three being .c code. The other didn't offer any real help.
Thank you in advance for any help.

There's nothing custom in my X setup. I've tried deleting the .e folder but still no luck. I'm not sure if it helps, but here's my xorg.conf file. I'm also using the closed source NVIDIA drivers if that matters.

  • Selective XML Index feature is not supported for the current database version , SQL Server Extended Events , Optimizing Reading from XML column datatype

Team , Thanks for looking into this  ..
As a last resort on  optimizing my stored procedure ( Below ) i wanted to create a Selective XML index  ( Normal XML indexes doesn't seem to be improving performance as needed ) but i keep getting this error within my stored proc . Selective XML
Index feature is not supported for the current database version.. How ever
EXECUTE sys.sp_db_selective_xml_index; return 1 , stating Selective XML Indexes are enabled on my current database .
Is there ANY alternative way i can optimize below stored proc ?
Thanks in advance for your response(s) !
