1440x900 resolution missing in Bootcamp (MBPr+Retina)

I just installed Windows 8 RP on my new MacBook Pro with Retina display and realized that the 1440x900 resolution option is completely missing from Windows (and games).
I've tried installed NVIDIA's latest 650M beta drivers (304.79), but they refuse to install. The frustrating thing about this is that 1440x900 is the most natural resolution for many games on the Retina display (since 2880x1800 either runs poorly, or reduces the UI of many games to unreadably small sizes). Intermediary resolutions cause ugly blurry jagged edges due to scaling.
Any ideas?

Games are only installed on Home editions by default, so you have to install them
Games = go to control panel > Programs and Features
Then look on left of list of apps and there is a link 'Turn windows features on and off' click that then in the dialog that comes up tick games then 'ok' then games will be installed.
there are also plenty of games int the store... just click windows/command key then click on blue store icon (top left)

  • How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • Can I use both newly cloned MBPR retina and old-MBP with same Time Machine

When my new-MBPR retina cloned from the old-MBP back up in Time Machine via migration assistance, will this newly-cloned MBPR continue thereon backing up with the same old-MBP back up in Time Machine? I.e. continuing same timeline?
And what happen to my old-MBP back up, if I continuing to use my old-MBP with the same Time Machine on? Will TM recognised 2 different MBP and thus creating 2 back ups? I seem to have problem to keep 2 MBP running with same TM. Programs not responding even force quitting them!
And what should I do to use both? Appreciate your help. Thank you.

OK, but in general I can use this one device as both file storage and Time Machine.
I thought that (for some reason) once I set up the Time Capsule to act just as Time Machine storage I would be unable to access it as a plain file storage.
I have just tested it now, and it seems it can work as both - file storage and Time Machine. I can see the Time Machine backup file on it and folders where I can dump regular files.
The only thing I would need to occasionally do is delete some old backups to keep Time Machine segment below 1 TB just so I have plenty of space for regular files.
    This thing is awesome. :)

  • Msi gx623 1440x900 resolution on windows 7

Hello, i know that this laptop can run in 1440x900 resolution screen mode
but my windows 7 runs only on 1280x800.
it's quit a little resolution for me, because i work with coreldraw and some images just doesn't fit at full screen.
i know that that this laptop can perform this resolution, as it even written in manual.
looking forward for answer. thank you

Updating the video driver wont help, because the res depends on the monitor driver and that is included in win7. I'm 99.5% sure you have a 1280x800 res screen. You can upgrade the screen, if you're interested I can give you a great link to a guide.
They sell around $100 on ebay.
This is why I want him to look at the box.  The GX623 can come with either the WXGA or WXGA+ panel. What it comes with may be due to market and the there is a price difference.
    Pwnd,
If the screenshot is from the website where you purchased it and what you got was different, contact the reseller.

  • 15.4" Screen / 1440x900 Resolution Enough?

Is the 15.4" screen, run on 1440x900 resolution, on the MacBook Pro enough space to run Logic Pro 7 more than comfortably?

That may go up with the next version of Logic, which is rumored to be a completely different window layout.
I know, all speculation at this point...

The 1st gen iPad mini had the same resolution as ipad 2. Becasue the mini is smaller than the 2 the pixels were denser.
So my question is... Is the resolution on the iPad mini retina better or denser than other retina screens found on other devices?

Try resetting the iPad (hold the home and power buttons down until the Apple logo appears).

  • Bootcamp with Retina Display model

With my current mac book pro, I use my OSX side for work, and my Windows side for gaming. I am wanting to upgrade to the new retina display model, but I've seen mixed reviews about gaming on the retina display. Are all the drivers neccesary avaialble for games to work properly on the retina display?
Also, does the default retina display run at 1440x900, with just more detail per pixel?
              Thanks

An updated version of Bootcamp Assistant is already on your MBPr. -  Applications - Utilities - Boot Camp Assistant.    It will guide you through the entire process including putting all of the required files to a USB flash drive - you will also need a Windows 7 ISO.   Alternately it looks like it can also still burn them to a CD/DVD if you have the external DVD superdrive attached.
    Good luck!

  • When bootcamping, MBP(Retina 15") does not have wireless capabilities.  What do I do?

I used bootcamp with no problems on my iMac (2008), booting into Windows 7 32bit.  However, with my recently purchased MBP Retina the wireless card seems to be missing a driver or something, and will not even show when I go to wireless help on windows 7.  I installed the Windows 7 64bit.

After installing Windows you must immediately install the drivers provided by BC prior to installing Win. The operations BC does are: 1. create Windows partition; 2. create drivers to be either burnt unto a CD or copied to a USB flash drive; 3. install windows. When Windows is ready, use the product created in step 2, otherwise you will have a lot of problem running Windows, from resolution, to wireless and bluetooth.

  • Problems with FPS while gaming on MBPr Retina

Ok, I have a Macbook Pro Retina 2012. I recently started playing games on it, most seem to be ok but I'm running Windows Via VMware Fuision, it worked great...for a time. I am playing a game, that at times, has a lot of graphic qulaity and a lot going on at one time. I lowered the quilaty but still it seems jumpy like the the GPU cant keep up with the FPS. I and a 1Gb GPU. Is there anything else I can do to stop this and let in play as normal or this a problem with something different than that GPU?? I was looking into external GPUs but that seems WAY too expensive, at the moment until that design one espcailly for it. Just looking for some friendly advice.

Install Windows via BootCamp this allows the game you are playing to use all of the resources the computer has. Using VM Ware your computer has to power both Windows and Mac at the same time. Therefore performs slower. Also the GPU has to power a higher resolution screen (Retina Display) which will lower FPS.

  • Photoshop resolution on Macbook Pro 15" Retina display too small

I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%)
If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly  – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display
Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see?
There doesn't seem to be any answer on the Adobe forum, so hopefully someone here can shed some light.

    quaetapo wrote:
Well that certainly helps in terms of making the image larger – only problem is with the low resolution there's a loss of clarity and pixelisation of the image; so not the same level of quality...
In System Preferences/Display, what resolution do you have your screen set to? Try changing that also to see if the two settings can work together. Also, since the vast majority of users (Mac or PC) don't have Retina Displays, isn't what you're seeing with Low Resolution checked in Photoshop closer to what most people will see? Remember that Apple's software, such as Safari, have been upgraded to take full advantage of the rMBP display; most other browsers, especially in Windows, haven't.
And if you want to tinker with the rMBP's resolution even further, check out "Eye-Friendly" in the App Store.

  • HOW TO GET THE MACBOOK PRO 13" TO RUN ON THE 1440x900 RESOLUTION

Hey guy, this is not a question bu more of an answer. I have read many forums with people wanting to up there res on the macbook pro from 1280x800 to something higher. i got my 13" MAcbook pro mid 2012 to run on the 1440x900 although its blurry and this is how. Firstly you want to download and instal switchresX. open the app go into last option (colour lcd), go to the custom resolution tab, click the + button on the buttom left,  the at the top chage the option to scaled resolution, change the res to horizontal: 1440 and vertical:900. click ok then apply now experimental. reboot your make go into system preferences, display, scaled and select the one you just created. All done .

Your best option would be to sell yours and buy a used, unscratched model. A case replacement by apple is going to cost a small fortune.

  • Mac OS X Lion Problems (Sound, Resolution, Missing Partition, and Crashes)

Ohia everybody! So recently I installed Mac OS X Lion (GM) on my Mac Mini. It's been installed for about 2 weeks, but I quickly noticed a couple of problems with it.
    Problem 1 - Screen Resolution:
When I had Snow Leopard installed and I held alt to switch into Windows, the menu that appeared to let you switch partitons resolution was correct. Now it seems to be 800x600. Same thing with the boot screen with the Apple logo. When the actual OS is booted up, the resolution is correct (1600x900). Why is it doing this with Lion and now when I had Snow Leopard?
    Problem 2 - Windows Partition:
Before I installed Lion, I had a Windows partition set up using BootCamp. I was able to see the Windows partition on my Macs desktop as well as my Mac partiton. Now it doesn't show up at all, and when I go to Disk Utility, it shows up as BOOTCAMP, and its greyed off. When I click on it and try to mount it, it just said that it couldn't be mounted. Nothing more. I can still boot into it just fine, but I can't view files, which is quite useful when transfering files between the operating systems.
    Problem 3 - Speakers Buzzing:
On Snow Leopard, when I went to play a sound, the speakers were completely quiet and the sound came out nicely. Now, the speakers will be quiet, and when I get a notification or something, the speakers will have a quiet buzzing sound and will continue buzzing for a few minutes after the sound is over. When I play another sound, they will start buzzing again. It never used to do this before Lion, so I'm sure its not the speakers. Hopefully someone has any info on this because I'm clueless.
    Problem 4 - Safari Crashes:
Last problem! Sometimes on Lion (not on Snow Leopard), if I leave Safari open for a little bit, it will randomly crash. It usually doesn't do it while I'm browsing, but if I'm uploading pictures or videos and I just leave it open, I will come back to my computer and it will say safari crashed.
    Note:
I always keep my computer up to date, and have googled all of these problems before with no help. Hopefully someone get help me fix any of these problems.

So I am not the only one with this issue. The sound of my imac g5 sounds buzzing as well. I am hoping for a fix from Apple soon.

The resolution for all CS6 programs on mac book pro retina is horrific. Will there be updates?! I am quite frustrated that I can barely see any of my type in Indesign.

InDesign has yet not came up with the retina display support update but yes we are going to have the support of retina display for most of the products eventually.

Basically, it discusses that sync, refresh, and modes / modelines don't work very well with "fglrx" driver, at least in my experience. The simplest xorg.conf lines relative to your video card and monitor sections will likely work best. I had similar issues (and more) with trying to include very specific xorg.conf code for those sections, and I had to resort to leaving it close to the bare-bones setup created by aticong  --initial to get everything to work properly.
I'm back to the radeon driver (for aiglx) now, so I can't do any testing for you. But hopefully the above info let's you know others have had similar issues.
I tried to do what you said. I ran xorgconfig again and then ran aticonfig --initial. I started up GDM and it did not work, well something worked but my monior said it could not display it. Now my guess is that it could have worked but the resolution was set too high on GDM and my monitor could not handal it. So I added the HorizSync & VertRefresh. Now I have used the  HorizSync & VertRefresh in Ubuntu and Sabayon with fglrx and it works great. I have another computer with an Nvidia card that runs Arch and it works great on this monitor at 1440*900. When I start GDM it picks its own resolutions regradless of what I have in the Modes section. As of now I can display:
    1920x1200
    1920x1080
    1600x1200
    1280x1024
    1280x720
    1152x864
