15-d001au bios flash gone wrong .....

hi. after doing a bios update off the hp website, the computer went through the reboot cycle, but it didnt even attempt to restart.  just fell to a black screen and has not done a check or anything. i am wondering if this unit is suitable for a win/b key bios restoration or not? everything i have tried as current has failed. what are my options for trying to restore the bios on this laptop? thanks. mangoat

nevermind all, fixed it up with the hp diagnostic software.cheers.

Hi all, probably did something stupid here but I'm in need of a point in the right direction.

Ok, I flashed my bios with a wrong update.  Call me stupid, call me whatever but I need a point in the next direction.
I have V6.00 and flashed with an update to V5.6 (6570v56).
When powered on, system will boot and you can enter the BIOS setup.  F8 no longer brings up the Boot menu.
If you do not enter the BIOS setup, the screen will turn blank with only a flashing cursor.
The diagnostic LED's on the back freeze on the "TESTING REALTIME CLOCK" combonation.
I cannot forcefully boot from floppy or CD.
I have tried a deep CMOS clear (removed battery, shorted jumpers and unplugged for 45 minutes) and set the FSB jumper to safe mode and I still cannot boot from disk.
Do I need to purchase a new chip?
    Thanks,
    Nate

    Hi,
OK from the info you've just posted.  Now this is gonna sound silly! (as your machine worked before the flash), but you look to be woefully underpowered - especially on the +12v Rail it's 11A
A non booting machine can be a classic sign of a lack of sufficient power!
I don't know what they should be for the board your running, but that (11A) is awfully low - recommended is 16A+ (on +12v) for the K7N2 ILSR - and I'm pretty sure the -L should come close.
    Read here for more info:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=31880&sid=
(I suggest you read this in its entirety.)
Also your WD HDD - preferred jumper settings on WD drives are (with no other drives attached to same cable) either No Jumper or Cable select. Weird things can happen if not set correctly (or so I've heard.)
Did you Flash you BIOS for a good reason - if not, you may be able to flash it back to your previous version (if you know what it was) although, I'm not sure about this - other members would though!
I'm gonna have to go now as it's 5.45 in the morning where I am!
If you don't manage to fix your problem start a new thread (or bump this one) listing all hardware being used, your OS, BIOS and short history. There are some good members on this board that aren't here at the moment and may be able to point you in the right direction.
Adjust AGP 8x in BIOS to 4x (you never know it may work.)
RTC - You did put the CMOS battery back in didn't you?

  • K7T266 Pro 2 Ver 2.0 - Possible flash gone wrong

    I have a K7T266 Pro2 Ver 2.0 (as written on the board)
and I recently flashed it with a6593vms.150.  Now the computer won't boot.
I've tried clearing the BIOS, no avail.
I've removed the RAM, got three long beeps.  Removed the video card, got three long beeps.  So it seems that the POST is still being run.  BUT, when the sys powers up the 1st D-LED turns green and then it turns Red like all the others.  Which seems to indicate a bad proc.  I've tested the proc, and it checks out fine.  Any other ideas?

Why would you flash BIOS in the first place if it's not broken? And worse you have most probably flashed a WRONG BIOS. This is where you should get your BIOS.

You may need to use the BIOS recovery method to flash back to your old BIOS, hopefully you kept a backup for the old one. :P

  • 790GX G65 BIOS Flash with M-Flash Gone Wrong

Okay I need some help quickly if anyone has a G65 board. I'm at my friends house and we were updating his BIOS on his G65 board from what I thought was 1.3 to 1.5 with the M-Flash and while the update SEEMED to finish okay, after the restart it failed to POST and load the BIOS. It then starts with the BIOS recovery requested. The problem is its not detecting the USB flash disk with ANY BIOS at all. We've tried 2 different USB Flash Disks and MULTIPLE BIOS IMG files on the Flash Disk and no go. You can see it read the USB Disk, but it doesn't find the BIOS its looking for.
Can anyone tell me with the backup BIOS does it include an extra file or boot IMG to start the process? Also any other sources for 1.44 BIOS? Coolaler seems to be down.

Yes.  It seems as though the boot block has been overwritten or corrupted.  CTRL+HOME does nothing.  I can't get the board to respond to anything. Its trying to recover the BIOS yet it seems as though the BIOS its looking for on the Flash Disk isn't there. I've put nearly every BIOS file from MSI on the Disk to no avail.  I believe the BIOS was 1.3x. I don't know if it was 1.3 or 1.3bx as this is my friends board and we simply checked the version in the BIOS before the flash and it said 1.3.

  • Firmware flash gone wrong

    Hi,
I have the 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition board which uses the Micron® JMB361 chipset.
I needed to flash a sunix PCI card, in order to make it get the it to be used as an IDE card, in my system last night. I used Hirens boot cd and it loaded the drivers for the Jmicron chipset when I booted into DOS. Then when I flashed the card something went wrong and after a couple of screens of garbage it finally said something about Jmicron blah blah blah. Anyway I then booted up my machine and I can use windows fine, but as soon as I transfer data my pc just hangs.
So I was wondering anyone who has the same board can backup there firmware and supply me with the firmware for this Jmicron chipset so that I can reflash it?

I still don't understand what this has to do with JMicron chipset/mainboard at all.  The JMicron BIOS is usually updated when you flash your mainboard's BIOS.
What happens if you remove your PCI card?

It would be good to know what kind of message you actually got.  "Something/blah blah blah" doesn't really help, does it?

    Please be more specific.
Provide full system specs.  How many hard drives and optical drives are connected to the system?  What ports are they hooked up to?
There are four SATA ports and one IDE port hosted by the Intel ICH7DH Controller and one additional SATA port + a secondary IDE port hosted by the JMicron Controller.  If you use only the Intel ports to connect your drives and disable the JMicron Controller in BIOS, do you have problems as well? Please try.

  • MSI Z68A-G34 BIO Flash Gone Bad

I was having trouble with my BT usb receiver that was connected to my Logitech bluetooth keyboard. The pc would be fine for a day or so and then it would crash with a bluescreen. I suspect the bluetooth usb receiver that was the problem since this was the last hardware I've installed before the BSOD.
So, I checked my MB firmware and it was 2 updates behind. I figure updating may fix the issue. I navigate to msi website and download the bios firmware to my usb flash stick. Run it in Windows. It seemed to install fine and it prompted the pc for a reboot. During reboot, the pc would go in an infinite boot loop. I do not see post nor can i get to bios. The screen is black with no signal.
I have tried a few suggestions via searching the web. Nothing seems to be working for me. Is this MB dead? Here is some of the things I've tried.
Clearing cmos by shorting the pins, and removing the battery for a few minutes.
Upload the bios file to a usb flash stick and reboot  while pressing 'F2', or 'ctrl+Home', 'F11.
Upload the same file to stick and rename it to 'AMIBOOT.ROM'
While trying to get to bios, I have unplugged all hdd, cd rom, memory sticks. I only have the monitor, main hdd, and one memory stick to try to recover.

System will reboot twice, after flash BIOS under windows, next boot to DOS flash ME.
Did you see these two procedure all complete successfully with USB drive still plug in?

  • BIOS flash went wrong? stop errors, boot disk error

    Hello, I need help.
I tried to update to bios 4.0.  It seemed to have gone well.  I then upped my fsb 5 to 205 because I could.  BSOD- stop error.  So I put back to old settings...  Same thing.  Then I greatly reduced settings...again, same thing.  I tried usin repair with my win2k disk.  BSOD- "inaccessable boot disk" and told me to "run chkdsk / f."
I tried to boot into safe mode command prompt so I could run chkdsk /f, but I got the BSOD stop error again.
I reverted back to previous bios 3.9.  But that did not solve my problems.
I am guessing I need to repair the HD boot sector?  Whenever I get a stop error it tells me it "cannot find dll winsrv" or something like that.
Any help on how to get this thing back up and running would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Had nothing to do with RAM or boot record.  Since the machine was telling me to chkdsk, i took out the HD and put it in another machine.  I ended up repairing windows on that machine, then taking it to my machine and it worked.  I can't explain the strange errors I got, but at least I fixed the problem.
    Thank you for your responses.

  • Z87-g45 bios update gone wrong

Hi, I'm a noob here and wish I found this forum a little earlier. I updated my bios to 1.6 a little while back, using the live update tool. (not a good thing to do I've learned) and now my bios logo keeps flickering before finally booting into windows. The one thing I hadn't done was resetting the cmos. My question is whether it is still usefull to do it now or should I revert back first to 1.5 with the forum tool? My comodo AV b.t.w. saw the forum tool as a trojan dropper - I take it is a false positive?

    Yes, false positive.
Forum's USB flash method is excellent and ensures the ME firmware is properly installed. Since you can still get Windows to boot, best to leave it alone and reflash using the archive in the link along with the forum flash. USB stick formatted FAT32, use the tool's 'Fix My USB Key' option prior to letting the tool load the flash files for you. At the 10 second prompt, restart and set the USB stick as the only bootable device, Save and Exit and follow the prompt when in DOS.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169943.msg1275782#msg1275782
Don't forget to install the ME driver available for download at an MSI Website after the flash.

  • T410s Bios Update Gone Wrong

I hoping someone can direct me to a fix for this issue.  Seems to me I can't be the only one having this particular issue.
I downloaded the windows bios update utility and proceeded to update the BIOS.  The utility ran for 10 minutes and it just hung there.  Eventually I ended up rebooted the computer and once I did that the computer would not start again.
One long been and two short beeps and this indicates a system board failure.
    Here is what I did;
    1. Updated bios in windows
    2. Computer would not start
    3. Unplugged power and removed battery
    4. Held power for multiple 30 seconds
    5. Disconnected battery under the keyboard (waited two hours before trying again)
Any advice is very much appreciated.
    Shawn.

If the machine is still under warranty call Lenovo and tell them that the BIOS update killed the motherboard. It might or might not get you where you need to be.
In case of an expired warranty, you're on your own an the motherboard replacement is going to be on you...
    Good luck.

  • 965 Neo flash gone wrong

    Hello.
I bought an msi 965F Neo to use with my e6600. I had some Ram problems with the corsair 5400 1gbx2 chips. I upgraded to v1.5 and i had some issues again. I changed my Ram to some kingston chips. The pc wouldn't boot into windows, nor let me setup them again as it freezed always in the same position in the setup.
So i thought it would be better if i downgraded it. I made a bootable disk with the v1.4 bios and used it. The process of downgrading stopped. I don't know if it had finished or not, but the pc stayed there freezed. Now it wouldn't post or anything. Just the lights on the case operate.
    Any help?

    SAVE YOURSELVES!!!
    ftored,
It sadens me to inform you that you bought the most worhless PSU that exists. These things cause nothing but trouble. My advice: take it out of your pc and find a large sledge-hammer and start enjoying yourself...
Really, I've seen too many people with all kind of weird problems and a Q-Tec installed. It's no good at all. They're unstable, bad performers and not safe. I've seen a few boards that were connected to a Q-Tec and were burnt out completely....
Do us and yourself a HUGE favor: Replace your Q-Tec with something good.
NOTE: In case your PSU is made by Q-Technologies, it's not so bad. If it says Q-Tec, it is.

  • Firefox has suddenly gone wrong. I was successfully running both Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. I auto-accept upgrades including the most recent Firefox upgrade and the suggested upgrade to Adobe Flash 10.1. But after this, Firefox stopped

Firefox has suddenly gone wrong. I was successfully running both Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. My laptop is new and has plenty of RAM and HDD. I auto-accept upgrades including the most recent Firefox upgrade and the suggested upgrade to Adobe Flash 10.1. But after this, Firefox stopped working and does not work when I re-load Firefox 3.6. Also IE8 now works very slowly and does not locate major websites like Microsoft without a 'can't find the website message' and having to pressing Return a second time. When I do get to the Mozilla website and click on the button to try to download Firefox 3.6.6, I get this message "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find mozilla3.snt.utwente.nl". Can you help with what has gone wrong? As it stands, I can't use Firefox at all. Note: because Firefox did not work after the upgrade, I've downloaded the IE8 version of the Adobe Flash 10.1. What I really want is to be able to use both Firefox and IE8. But is this possible if they use different versions of Adobe Flash?

I have been having the same problem as the original poster. After upgrading to Ffx 3.6.6, the program asks you to upgrade to Flash Player Plugin 10.1. I download and installed 10.1 only to find videos weren't loading.
In my case, the problem is the previous installation of Flash Player (9.0.47) was somehow messing things up. To fix this, because I already had Flash plugin 10.1 installed I had to uninstall 10.1 using the uninstaller from adobe and then manually remove any files related the old flash player plugin 9.0.47
Here is a run-down of my process:
    0. To check if you have a previous installation of the Flash Plugin lurking around, in Firefox go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins (tab). At this point you may seen both Flash plugins.
    1. Proceed to uninstall Flash Plugin 10.1. Adobe provides an uninstaller here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
( you have to make sure you have nothing running when you execute the installer).
    2. On my Mac (sorry I don't know what it is in Windows) I searched the hard drive for any files/folders with "Shockwave". I found a folder called "Shockwave 10". It wasn't removed by Adobe's uninstaller. For safety I deleted it and then emptied the trash.
    3. I then went to My HD -> Library -> Internet Plugins.
Remove the file and folder named "Flash player.old"
    4. Restarted; ran the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 installer. Restarted again.
    5. Opened up ffx and double checked the plugins list (see step 1). Version 10.1 is installed and available. Went to problem sites to test it out and Success!
    Hope this helps.

  • Flashed the wrong bios to Pavilion dv7- 6b57nr

My system was running really slow, with constant lockups, I tried every this to get it to function faster, it only improved slightly. I accidentally flashed the wrong bios to the system. the unit powers up, and the cap locked keys flashes twice then pauses, then twice again.
    please help!

    Hello!
That mistake is very unlikely. Kt3 uses AMI-bios, K7n Award-bios. There is also a big age difference. But the bios versions are numbered in a similar way:
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=497
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=546
My advice is not to update with that version, especially not with LiveUpdate. Make sure the Kt3 Ultra2 motherboard I linked to is your exact motherboard, and if you really-really need to update BIOS, download from there and do a "manual" update. If you do not have a problem: Do  n o t  update!
I might add that the numbering of BIOS versions is a little confusing sometimes. What is the exact name/number of the "11.5" version?

  • Re: LGA 1150 Bios Flashing & Intel Management Engine

I was updating my MB's BIOS from 1.7 to 1.8 via MSi's Live update. While updating, the systems froze for a bit then it auto restarted it self. When the comeputer started up, I noticed
I can't even go into the BIOS anymore. Thats when I knew, something has gone wrong. I followed the steps in this video : .
When i tried this i get an error: Error 201: fpt.exe cannot be run on this current platform. what am i doing wrong?
    Motherboard: z87 GD-65 gaming.

Do i restore the MAC before or after I flash the BIOS? and When to i flick the switch to go into the dead BIOS? I followed the video but it isn't clear how they didn't have the issue with the ERROR 201. I'm gonna try again and update if anything goes wrong.
UPDATE: so i wrote the MAC address down and went into started into DOS on my USB. I did the command "eeupdate /nic=1 /mac=xxxxxxxxxxxx. Then it say the device was not found. And i'm still getting the error 201.

  • Lenovo T60 BIOS flash problem

Hi There, and first of all sorry for my bad english!!
I have a problem with my T60, because i flashed a wrong (wide screen model) bios onto it. Now it not booting, some leds are blinking then nothing. I've tried, the wincris method to solve the problem, but i dont know the key combination to acces the bios in recovery mode. I've tried to remove the CMOS battery too, but nothing happened. Please help me! Thanks a lot

    Hello yigit,
I'll contact to Lenovo technical service for this issue. But before contacting i would like to let you know that I found official 40CN22WW(1.09) bios for G470/G570 from China support page and i flashed bios with that version. It flashed the BIOS but same problem happened when it comes to EC. When i clicked on OK for flashing EC it freezed and nothing move so around 10 mins later i had to reset laptop by unplugging the battery. But when i enter the setup i saw that all INVALID gone and the correct values are there. So i can see model, uid and serial number in BIOS now. But the EC is same old one which i typed in 1st post.
    When i saw this i wanted to flash BIOS with official 2.09 version. It flashed the BIOS and came to EC flashing. This time it become different. After flashing BIOS it asked me to flash EC, and i clicked on OK, after clicking OK around 6-7 seconds later this appeared;
    IHIS:EC write error in SMI!
and after this one it reset the laptop by itself, i checked in the BIOS and the serial, model changed to INVALID again but BIOS version is 2.09 and EC is 2.04. So I reflashed the BIOS with 1.09 and now in BIOS no more INVALID but EC is still 2.04. I don't know maybe this version has an EC protection or something like that. Or maybe my laptop BIOS or EC is corrupted. I wanted to flash my BIOS at 1st just because of those fan noise with almost 100% speed. Even the temperature is 45 the fan runs like F1 race car I'll take this with this BIOS now and when i go to Adana where I bought this laptop I'll ask for technical help there. Beside all those except FAN runs too fast, there is no problem on laptop everything works fine. But i noticed that boot time is faster with this 1.09 bios, i don't know maybe this is a coincidence.
Thank you for your interest and replies.
