15" MBP screen has blue tinge after wakeup from screen saver

I've had a recent problem with having a blue tinge to my laptop display after wake up from the screen saver. The screen saver is the iTunes cover art. When the screen saver is active and I clear it (mouse movement or keyboard), I get my login screen. After entering my password, the screen turns a blue shade. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution. I'm currently running Leopard 10.5.8 with all software updates on a late 2008 15" MBP.

Yea I had this problem a while ago - I think it's because of iStat Pro - are you running that widget in your dashboard? Either delete it or if you still want it - you can go into preferences and click on displays and the screen will automatically color correct itself - but you have to do this every time it wakes up.

    Same here on an older iMac since Lion. Thanks for the uncheck wake for network access tip though, it doesn't do it either in that case, I will leave it that way.

  • Since 5.1 update, my Apple TV has no audio after waking from sleep mode. I can get audio back if I manually put it to sleep through settings. Help please?

    Hello,
    Since the 5.1 update, my Apple TV 2 has no audio after it wakes from sleep mode. To get audio back I need to go to settings and manually put it to sleep then wake it up. Once I do this I have audio. I have restarted the Apple TV as well as me modem and router. I have searched the boards and cannot find a solution.  Please help.

  • MBP Bootcamp XPSP3 slow AFTER wakeup from hibernation

    Very weard problem on my brand new MBP santa rosa.
    WINXPSP3 runs fine and fast if booted cleanly. But when i hibernate and then wakeup it is extremely slow incl screen draws, explorer window etc etc. Only a reboot will give back the normal speed.
    I tried with standby mode but then it behaves normal.

  • Spinning Ball after wakeup from Sleep for a long time

    If I wakeup my iMac after it has been a sleep overnight, the spinning ball appears does not stop. I am not able to click on anything with the mouse and the keyboard is not responsive. In other words, everything freezes up.
    I have an external hard drive hooked up to the computer, if that is relevant.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    I have 3 GBs of RAM. I typically have 3-4 apps running such as Safari, Firefox, and Word. This morning my computer woke up fine and there wasn't a spinning ball. I don't think I did anything yesterday that would have fixed the problem. Prior to this morning, I was having the spinning ball/freeze problem for the previous 4 days.
    If the problem goes away, I'll post back to this forum.

  • Windows 7 – 802.1x Authentication fails after wakeup from Sleep/Hibernation

    In our environment we randomly have issues with 802.1x authentications after Sleep or Hibernation of our client-systems.
    Clients have Windows 7 as OS and are up-to-date regarding regular updates/patches. Drivers (at least
    network and chipset) on affected machines have also been updated.
    802.1x authentication method is PEAP (EAP-MSCHAPv2) and systems are validated
    against Active Directory by RADIUS.
    Analyzing the logs of our RADIUS-Server you can see that the client trys to authenticate
    via MAC instead of its DNS-Name/FQDN (desired method). So the request fails and the client is assigned to a different VLAN without access to the company’s resources. Following steps like DHCP work correctly.
    We have enabled the tracing of RAS-components on some of our clients by executing the following command-line: netsh ras set tracing
    * enabled
    Analyzing the client’s log-file “C:\Windows\tracing\svchost_RASCHAP.LOG” it looks like that the
    component is simply not up at that point in time, because there are absolutely no entries making it impossible to search for a specific error/error-code. Side-fact: unplugging the network-cable and plugging it in again forces the client to
    authenticate again – successfully and with entries in the given log.
    There has been an article KB980295 describing my issue but that does not apply to Windows 7. Hotfix KB2736878 cannot be applied (0x80240017
    - install is not needed because no updates are applicable).
    Does anyone have an idea how you could force the component to initialize earlier (if it is possible at all)?
    Any other advice is highly appreciated as well!
    Thanks a lot

    Hi Deason,
    sorry for my very very late reply on this.
    Even if I could not solve the problem yet, I can tell about some progress.
    As both KB-Files (980295 and 2481614) sadly did not help with this at all and even setting the blockperiod to 1 (I saw that 0 doesn't seem to be supported here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831813.aspx) didn't make any difference I
    have been working on how to reproduce the issue. So I wrote a tiny script disabling and enabling the client's network-port on and on (I have removed outputs and logging to keep it short):
    $doAllTheTime = $true
    $i = 0
    $DomainName = (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem).domain
    $NWAdapter = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_NetworkAdapter | ? {$_.name -like "*gigabit*"}
    while ($doAllTheTime -eq $true)
    $i++
    $NWAdapter.disable() | out-null; Start-Sleep -Seconds 10
    $NWAdapter.enable() | out-null; Start-Sleep -Seconds 10
    $ping = $null
    $ping = test-connection $DomainName -count 1
    if ($ping -eq $null)
    "Error with connection"; return
    So I kept it running and after a dozens of loops the issue reoccurred. I could see that it is the dot3svc-Service that does not response anymore by the RASCHAP-log given above. Restarting the service manually triggered a re-authentication that was then successful.
    So I added the restart-service-cmdlet to my script in case that the error was detected and configured a Scheduled Task triggered by the event that a network-cable has been plugged in (has to be provided by the driver). Script and Scheduled Task
    have then been deployed to our clients.
    Even if this is no solution it definitely helps with a high rate of incidents -
    but not entirely... so I am still looking for further steps to
    solve this. Any ideas are highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much for your support!!! Uhle

  • Mega 651 USB devices disappearing after wakeup from Hibernate state - HELP!

    Hi All,
    I still have this problem where when I wake up my Mega 651 from a hibernate state my USB devices seem to get uplugged or ejected. The usb ejected/unplugged window appears also.
    This wasn't too much of a problem, however, my PC is now on a network and when my usb devices are unplugged such as my UPS or shared printer a broadcast message is sent to all network PC's.
    I've also started using my card reader as I now have a digital camera, but annoying when the card reader is ejected all the time.
    I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 with all updaes.
    If anyone can help me solve this problem it would be a great help.
    Also the card reader access light stays on sometimes after shutdown, why is this?

    Suspend has always been problematic under Linux. It seems to be hit or miss for the most part, but here are some things you can try:
    Use an LTS kernel, tuxonice, pm-utils, etc. See Suspend and Hibernate
    Try a different graphics driver
    Tweak the driver module parameters or build your own driver.
    Unfortunately I don't have experience with the radeon driver, so I can only give you ideas.

  • Network has weird problem after Resume from suspend...

    hi guys,
    I have a ThinkPad T60 laptop with archlinux at home. and I have a router with wlan supported for the internet. Suspend/Resuming (pm-utils) works. Recently after resuming, the network-manager says WLAN connected with ESSID, but internet connection was lost. it is weird:
    I can really connect the WLAN, e.g. I can ping another computer's IP and exchange files with it,
    I can see my wlan by iwlist,
    but I cannot reach the IP address of the router by Ping.
    I tried restarting network-manager, switching off and on the wireless adapter neither worked. the only way I found to bring the network back is restarting the router.
    I list the stuff that I thought would be helpful here, hope someone can give some hints.
    thanks in advance.

    after it waked up, I did tried ifconfig down/up wlan0, didn't work.
    I will try to bring down the wlan0 before suspend tomorrow.
    some new test from yesterday
    Router IP: 192.168.0.254
    DNS:192.168.0.254
    another PC: 192.168.0.1
    one of Google IP:74.125.39.104
    after waked up
    ping 192.168.0.254 , failed.
    ping 192.168.0.1 OK
    ping 74.125.39.104 OK
    ping www.google.com Failed
    I changed the DNS to google DNS:8.8.8.8, then I can access website in browser, also ping www.google.com OK.
    I even REBOOTed my laptop, I still cannot reach my router by ping 192.168.0.254.... accessing internet is ok...
    if I restart router, everything is fine...
    what is the problem!!! weird!

  • Mavericks Second monitor not detected after wakeup from sleep

    Hi everybody,
    seems like my problem is getting worse after updating to the latest Mavericks (10.9.5), but the general problem came up with upgrading to Mavericks.
    I have two monitors connectet to my 3,1 MacPro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB, which worked without any problems for years (since SnowLeopard).
    After upgrading to Mavericks the Mac started loosing the connection to the second monitor after waking up from sleep.
    At first only sporadically and then coming up more often. Some Google search showed that I wasn't alone with this problem. When I first started to find a solution for this, some of the workarounds others recommended seemed to help like resetting the PRAM, choosing another resolution with pressed alt button etc. but over time nothing really solved the problem. I only had a chance to get back my second monitor whenever the problem ocurred. Today none of these procedures seem to help, so I give it a shot with this post...maybe someone has a real solution for this (or at least can confirm exactly the same problem so that I can rule out some other reason than a buggy Mavericks?!?).
    What I can rule out from trying different setups:
    - It is not a problem of monitor brand (no NEC, both same model Xerox brand) nor size (both same resolution and 22")
    - it is not a problem of connections and cables (switching the pluging switches the problem to the other monitor)
    -> which brings me to the idea that the problem occurs with just one of the graphic cards ports. But since I have no other card available I'd like to rule out software problems before buying new hardware!
    - The problem comes up only when waking up from sleep (immediately trying to reboot after the problem has ocurred brings no solution, the secon monitor stays undetected). Shutting down the Mac and booting up after a while (no specific time, but at least a couple of minutes) brings up both monitors perfectly.
    - The monitrs try to get through to the Mac: when switching off the undetected monitor manually and switching it on again, it displays: No signal, going to sleep
    Hope there is some help around here...this is really getting annoying!
    Yours,
    Ray

    The weird thing is that every morning, when I move my mouse to wake the computer, both displays go from black to show the desktop but the second display immediately goes back to black. Unplugging it and plugging it back in eventually works after multiple trys. Restarting the computer sometimes works but not always.
    The only other major change to my computer before this started happening is that I installed Leopard.
    So far I've tried setting my Macbook Pro not to go to sleep but that didn't change anything.
    Should I try setting my displays not to go to sleep either? I haven't tried that because Energy Saver warned me that it could reduce the lifespan of the display.

    It might be a power saving option.
    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings
    change plan settings--then change advanced power settings
    Look for settings related to your Wireless card and/or your Ethernet adapters.

  • Server connection lost after wakeup from standby

    I am sorry if i did not find the right solution in this forum.
    After waking up a mac from standby the smb mounts do not work anymore. Is there any workaround to make the mac mounting the volumes automatically after waking up?
    Thanks so much for a reply!

    Apparently there is a current issue with SMB that requires a fresh login each session...if the connection is broken, you have to log back in again each time.

  • Admin group has wrong gid after upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

    Under Tiger I unfortunately made by login as admin. This worked OK under tiger, but created confusion under Leopard. The final result is that the admin group has the gid of 501 and the gid of 80 has an (unknown) name. Repairing permissions under Leopard caused all of Apples applications and system type folder and files to have the group 80(unknown). I can see from discussion forums and other native Leopard machines that gid 80 is supposed to be named admin and is for, well, Admins.
    I created a new user, gave him administrative rights and migrated the old "admin" user's files, folders, etc. to the new user and removed the admin user through the Accounts GUI. That new user and all other administrative users are members of group 501(admin), but NOT of 80(unknown).
    How can I remove the current admin group (501), give the admin group name to 80 and have the administrative users join group 80?

  • Mbp retina processor choking (?) after wake from sleep

    Hi all,
    I recently bought a Macbook Pro Retina Display 15" (Haswell). Some time ago I started noticing that, after waking up the computer for a couple of times, the image and sound would briefly 'freeze' once every second. Strangest thing is that whenever I play back a system soundfile (like f.i. the submarine notification sound) while (let's say) youtube is playing a video, the freezing would go away only to return when I stop playing the notification sound.
    Anybody got any idea of what's going on here? Hardware or software failure? Anyone encountered a similar problem?
    Here you can see a little video I recorded when my rMBP starts tripping
    Cheers
    I

    happened again just now. opened activity monitor and saw coreaudiod peaking at 54%. changed the driver to soundflower and video stopped lagging ... back to internal input and video started lagging again. I then plugged in my headphones and the freezing stopped immediately.
    so been looking at this thread on coreaudiod and followed the instructions. let's hope my problem is solved
