Unable to use my Nokia 1520 overseas.
facts
I bought directly through Microsoft full price
unlocked
ATT provider
contract free
used it already under straight talk plan, just fine
now I am in Lima Peru, the sim card from.movalstar has the mesage
your sim can not be accessed . Please contact your carrier to obtain your code.
I called att twice they tell me its movalstar that has this code.
movalstar says its att that has the code.
straight talks knows nothing , this account is reactive now also.
my question is . What is the solution to this problem?
I need a damn code. Who can help with this issue?
I bought the phone will full disclosure of it being used with other carriers.
Mircosoft said it was not a.problem as long as they had the same frequency,.. Peru does.. !!!!!

You say it was bought unlocked, are you _sure_ about that?
In any case, this is an issue with either the carier in Peru or ATT. There is nothing anyone here can do for you on this.

  • Could my ipad2 connects to the Internet using SIM card or USB Modem?

Could my ipad2 connects to the Internet using SIM card or USB Modem?

If you have a 3G iPad, it can connect to the internet using cellular data. As the iPad has no USB port, you can't connect a USB modem. You can use what is called a MiFi, though. They connect to cellular service and create a personal WiFi hotspot.

  • Are iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina both "SIM unlocked" in US? Can I use SIM cards sold in other countries?

I'm planning to buy iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina during my trip to US.
    Are they both "SIM unlocked"?
Can I use SIM cards sold in other countries?
Do I need any treatment or/and application when purchase?

If you are not concerned about LTE bands (which will be more diverse and hit-or-miss) the only ones that will matter are these...
    3G: UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)
    2G: GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
This covers almost all the 2G and 3G standards. You will most likely be ok on 3G and in edge cases, at an absolute minimum you will have EDGE speeds since both US and EU frequencies are covered - blech :-)

  • Unable to read SIM card after latest update

I downloaded the most recent android update on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on 12/10.  Since that update, i've gotten the message "Unable to read the SIM card.  Please restart your phone to read the card" a half-dozen times.  The timing between the messages is sparatic (one time it was a few hours between messages, another time a full day, then 12 hours the third time, etc...).
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  Is there a simple fix to this (such as just getting a new SIM card from Verizon)?  I'd like to think that the update wasn't the culprit of this, but I've had my Note 4 since the initial release, and it's only started happening since the last update.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I'm having the same "Unable to read the SIM card" issue. My phone is less than two months old, the unable to read SIM card issue started about a week after I purchased the phone. That was followed by a host of erratic, sporadic issues to the phone becomes unusable and the only way to temporarily fix it is to remove the battery for a few seconds.  I've gone through the factory reset with Verizon reps where I purchased the phone from as well as with a Verizon online Chat representative. In a nutshell, I got a ticket to send the phone back to Samsung in Plano, Texas to get the phone fixed, I am going to do that today because this problem is ridiculous.

In the most part of SOUTH-EAST ASIA phones are SIM free, contact-deal-mess ups are not here. It is totally upto Nokia if they decides to unleash a phone with two SIM card slots FOR EXPERIMENT.
True, but SE Asia is the only place they'd be able to sell the phone, and that is not a significant enough market sector to warrant the R&D, especially with the news that Nokia is pulling out of the Japanese handset market.
In the rest of the world, a dual-SIM phone would only interest a fraction of 10% of potential users.

  • Nokia N8 asks for Sim Card and continues to restar...

I have had my Nokia N8 for about 3 months, and have had no problems until the last few days when it will ask to insert a sim card (when it is already inserted) and it will do a restart for no apparent reason?
    Has anyone had this problem??

From my observation, this happens when you either want to make a call or send a message.
It seems to tally with was recorded in the log file admin***.txt under MailForExchange directory under phone Memory.
It will show either DiskFull or roaminevent or profile does not exist or ignoring roamin event.
My suspicion is, this is software issue as this happens even with a new sim card.
The network coverage availability software function seems to be buggy...
I am using Nokia N8 with Phone memory at 38.6mb
Its a pity as otherwise the N8 has been superb
This phone restart is really really irritating... I wanted to switch to lumia 920 but i have a hunch that this problem might be there as well..

Hi, guys, I need a little bit help here please. Here is the problem:
I bought my N95 from ebay 1 month ago. It was locked on Vodafone at the time of purchase and the seller sold it because he didn't like it. Once it arrived, I unlocked the phone from a local shop. And I use my Vodafone Pay Monthly SIM card on it.
Everything worked fine till yesterday when the phone suddenly lost the network signal (meaning that I can't make or receive calls). So I took out the card and installed it on my old Nokia 6300 which works fine. At that point of time, I thought that the seller, whom I bought the item from, might have report the N95 mobile stolen. However, strangely, I tried my N95 with my friend's 3 SIM card and it works (meaning I can make or receive calls with my N95 on 3).
I have no idea about UK's stolen mobile regulations. If a mobile is reported as stolen, is it unusable only to a certain network or for the whole UK's networks? Thanks a lot.
Why do you have to buy stolen phones :-?.E-bay is notorious place for buying stolen & spurious goods. It is against law to own a stolen phone

  • Ways To Transfer Nokia N82 Messages To Sim Card

Hello, I would like to know on how to transfer memory card messages to my sim card. Please help me as soon as possible. Thanks and cheers.
If you think what I've just post is useful, do give me a kudos! xD

There is only way and that, soft format your mobile. For that, backup your mobile's contacts, notes, calender and bookmarks via Nokia PC Suite backup utility. Don't backup anything else like messages settings or user files etc. Now type this as like dial a number *#7370# (default security code is 12345). Your phone will restart and format your mobile's C drive. When mobile starts, connect your mobile with your PC using data cable. Run Nokia PC Suite, wait for half minute then click on Help -> Reinstall PC Suite support. An installation message will appear in your mobile. Install everything and wait for a minute. Restart your mobile and restore your backup first in your mobile. Now transfer your messages on to phone memory. Go to Massaging -> Options -> Settings -> Other -> Memory in use, select phone memory and the question will be asked to transfer messages to phone memory. Click Yes and there your message memory transferred to phone memory with all messages. Good luck... (Give some Kudos if you like my suggesion)

  • How to use SIM card slot on W500

I found there is a slot for SIM card when I pull the battery out. I insert my SIM card and start the computer, however it won't recognize. I download and install Mobile Connect software, I got "no device found" message. How to use this function?

    Hello LeadOrg:
    Thanks for that reply.
What confuses me is this:  There seems to be two or maybe three different cards available, as follows:
Vodafone and AT&T - HSDPA wireless WAN, which seems to address the following two items:
      - Ericsson HSDPA Wireless WAN Adapter
      - Qualcomm UNDP Wireless WAN Adapter
Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP), which seems to address the following one item:
       - Qualcomm HS-USB
I can't find any specifications in the Lenovo literature that clarifies which of the above items are suitable for GSM-900 and GSM-1800 (the frequencies used in Europe) and which of these items are suitable for GSM-850 and GSM-1900 (the frequencies used i Oz, USA, and Canada).
Further, Lenovo seems to be linking these two products to specific carriers (Vodafone and AT&T in one case, Verizon in the other case), and I use neither one of these companies - they don't operate in Canada.  I use Rogers GSM when I am in Canada and Swisscom GSM when I am in Europe.
I am quite confused.  I'd like to get a card that works with the two above carriers - but I don't know how to go about the process of selecting the appropriate card.  The whole HSDPA, HS-USB and UNDP business totally confuses me.  I always thought that UNDP was the United Nations Development Program...

  • Found broken iPhone 5s. Anyway to find owner using sim card?

This thing is demolished, won't turn on and the screen is completely broken. The sim card is in perfect condition from AT&T. Is there anyway to locate the owner using the sim? Is there a sim card reader that I can buy? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Didn't say that. Here's what happens:
    1) doom_dude walks into an AT&T store with the phone.urn the phone in to AT&T.
    2) He tells them he found this phone, discovered that the sim is AT&T, and asks them if this phone belongs to one of their customers.
3a) If AT&T says "yes", doom_dude leaves the phone with them, walks out and lets AT&T contact the customer and organize whatever else is needed. Doom_dude is no longer involved.
3b) If AT&T says "no", doom_dude pursues other options that I cannot give.
    Simple.

  • How to use SIM card in Droid 2 Global?

So I have a Droid 2 Global because it has SIM card capabilities. I called Verizon to allow international roaming. Then I got the unlock code for my phone. Next I put a new-bought SIM card from China Mobile into my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
However, when someone calls my China Mobile phone number, my phone does not react. The caller hears a prerecorded message that the China Mobile phone number is incorrect or not connected.
When I call with my Droid 2 Global with the China Mobile SIM card inside, the receiving person sees my Verizon phone number.
My question is: How do I get my Droid 2 Global to recognize and use my China Mobile SIM card?
I don't want it to use my Verizon phone number while I am overseas. I like my Verizon service in the U.S., and I plan to return to it.  I just thought the idea of a global phone with a SIM card was to be able to travel to other countries and use another SIM card if need be, and the sales representatives at my local Verizon store sold me this idea of international usage. Other users seem to have no problem. Please inform me of how it works
    Thank you!

Hi mortb, thanks for your input.
However, that is not true about SIM cards. You can find accurate information about SIM cards through your search engine or even Wikipedia. SIM cards are meant to be swapped out. SIM cards are used in Europe and Asia more than the U.S. "The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device" (Wikipedia- SIM cards).
A SIM card holds the prepaid account value, telephone number, the user's address book, call logs, texts, etc. A lot of websites give the analogy: Say your phone is dead but you need to make a call. You can use your friend's cell phone with your SIM card and call. You won't be using your friend's minutes, but your own because you are using the minutes from your SIM card.
In my case, I want to use a local cell phone provider to make local calls. Theoretically speaking, I can do so if I swap out my SIM card for a local network's SIM.
Now Verizon locks all its phones to their Verizon SIM cards, so Verizon phones can only use Verizon SIM cards, but the Droid 2 Global allows you to unlock your SIM, meaning that you are going to put in another SIM card, aka another cell phone service provider.
So I am confused why I cannot use another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone explain why? Or what can I do to sync my China Mobile SIM to my Droid 2 Global?

  • Apple helped me to unlock my iphone before traveling to Europe. now that I am in Europe, i can't use sim card because my phone shows it is locked. can you help me?

    Hi
I called apple and a representitive walked me through a process to unlock my phone before traveling to Europe. Once I went through the process apple posted a note that my phone is successfully unlocked. Now that I am in Europe and trying to use the country's sim card, it is not working because it says my phone is still locked

The only way of unlocking is for your carrier to unlock it ( they lock it only they can unlock it )
If your carrier did not arrange an unlock ..........it is still locked
    This is how it works
