15454 10G card transparency

Is there any way to configure this card for complete transparency on the client side?
I want to take a third party products 10G output (propriteray framed with 10.3125 G line rate) and transport it over the 15454 infrastructure.

Depends on the interface card. The standard 10G SONET/SDH card will only accepted SONET/SDH formatted signals.
A transponder card used in the DWDM system may allow you to wrap the signal in question in a Digital Wrapper for transport over a wavelength, but I do not know for certain if your signal is supported by the transponder cards.

  • 15454 OC3 card STS3 not available any ideas

Hello, we have a older 15454 network with OC
3 ring between the nodes.  My issue is we are trying to provision an ethernet circuit between two nodes on STS3 and its not working.
We are able to provision the circuit on each end and it shows green but no traffic passes.  After doing some investigation comparing it to other nodes that we are using STS3 on I found that on the OC3 card on the SONET STS Tab there are only STS1 and STS2 available.  sts3 does not show up on the tab.
There does not appear to be any way in the GUI to configure sts3.  I contacted the telcos that are providing the OC3 circuit and they stated it is configured and in alarm as if there is no signal from my endpoints.
Is there something in the CLI interface I need to do to activate STS3?
    Thanks
    ~ Phil

The SONET STS tab doesn't have anything to do with adding a circuit. That tab will show up once you are finally able to create an STS1 circuit in the third timeslot.
When you go to build the circuit, STS#3 is not an option correct? If there are no circuits shown in the Circuits tab for that STS#3 (VT or STS circuit), it's possible you have stranded bandwidth on that sts. In order to check for that you will need to retrieve the cross connects from TL1.
To login, telnet to the ip address of the node using port 3083. 'telnet 10.10.10.10 3083'
act-user::CISCO15:123::otbu+1;           CISCO15 for the username, otbu+1 for the password. Use a superuser account.
    To retrieve all cross connects:
    rtrv-crs::all:123;
Look through the output to see if there is a cross-connect built on that particular STS number. If there is a cross connect, it will need to be deleted. For example, let's say that I need to delete this cross connect:
    "VT1-12-1-5-1-1,VT1-6-1-4-1-1:2WAY,VT1:CKTID=\"test_0009\":OOS-AU,AINS&FLT"
The command to delete this connection would be:
    dlt-crs-vt1::vt1-12-1-5-1-1,vt1-6-1-4-1-1:123;

  • 15454 TCC2P cards resetting - any ideas?

In a CISCO 15454 ONS we recently had several resets of the TCC2P cards, more than once a day.
The alarm description said "automatic system reset" and the TCC2P cards would change protection. We have some ethernet on a ETH-100 in the shelf which sees a brief hit. The 15454 is running version 7.23. Part number 800-24766-02, HW Rev A1, Bootrom Rev 57-5444-04
Could this be power related?  Another 15454 in the same location also had a TCC2P reset, but not at the same time and only one switch
We have lots of 15454's and 15327's and see a few resets, usually never more than once a month at the same site. Some sites are worse than others. Anyone know what causes these resets?
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Ray Presky, CCNP

    Ray,
Well, there is no way to check memory usage.  The TCC will let you know when it is low with the MEM-LOW and gone (followed by an auto-reset) with MEM-GONE.  If you are not seeing either of these alarms then it is something else.
One thought was an issue where noise on the data bus from the Fan Tray would cause the TCC to auto-reset occasionally.  Take a look at FN 62545 and see if the Fan Tray you have fits the list their.  Here's a link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62545.html
Or you can log into www.cisco.com and search for FN 62545 to find it.

  • ONS 15454 ML Card Question

I have an ONS 15454 with an ML-100
and an ML-1000 installed. I hav
e a WAN on the ML-100 that I would like to
add a spur to from the ML-1000. How can I accomplish th
    is?
    Thanks,

    Hi Colin,
so you want to add two more ONS devices in an existing ring.
if you can provide a topology it will be helpful,
if you just want to add two more ONS in existing ring, it will no cause any issues,
we just have to take care of circuits and need to build them from TL1 in these new nodes.
but please send topology to get an clear view.

  • 10g Fibre cards

Does anybody know what the transmitter minimum power and receiver minimum sensitivity of Cisco 10G cards such as X2-10GB-LX4 or X2-10GB-LR are?

  • ONS 15454 Configuration(s)

It's my 1st crack at configuring one of these so, what would be suggested for the following application?
    One pair of Cisco 15454’s
    -Fiber Type
    2 Leaf Fibers Single mode
    - OC12 backbone with provisioning for: OC3, DS3, EtherNet 10/100 meg, GigE, DS1

    Card wise you'd need:
    2 TCC2 cards
    2 XC-VT or XC10G (the 10g card is a 10g x-connect, the vt is 2.5G)
    For ds-1 I'd get the ds1-14, each card gives you 14 T1's
For DS3, you need the ds3-12 card, each card supports 12 ds-3s
For the oc-12 card I'd go with the oc12 LR 1550 card (it's hard to say which one without knowing the fiber specs and distance)
    for oc-3 there is a 4 and an 8 port card, oc3 IR 4 and IR 8
For the GE you have 2 options the G1K-4 and the ML1000-2 The G series card is 'dumb', 'light in, light out' other node, the ML series card runs IOS and you can do a lot with it. I'd read up on each card and make the choice that is right for you.
These are just my recommendations, it's hard to give you specifics without knowing more. You should also take a look at this:

IBM pSeries(p_590) and the latest AIX operating system.
I am happy with Apps Server and Database on this platform but what if any version of the transparent gateway do I require????

look at the transparent gateway certification matrix in metalink.
u can install the gateway in the same oracle_home as the database in case both are the same realeses.

you will need a password recovery cable to be able to perform this procedure.

  • Laptop with two graphics cards? [Nvidia Optimus - SOLVED]

    Hi,
I just bought a laptop that includes two graphics cards: a low-power Intel one and a high-performance nVidia card. Right now I'm just using the Intel graphics card, and the system only detects it. When I install nVidia drivers I have to uninstall the intel drivers because of incompatibilities, and it doesn't even start the X server. I could attach a log if necessary, but I haven't found anything relevant, it just says that the nVidia driver is not valid for the detected graphics card. Is there a way to use both graphics cards transparently, like in other-operating-systems?
    Some hints? Thank you!

It's called Optimus. Kinda surprised there's people who don't already know about it. Not supported fully in Linux, but there's a hack to get the nvidia card going: Bumblebee
    Edit: Bah, too late!

  • 10gb Ethernet cards for Oracle VM

    Hi all,
I've been trying to find information on which 10gigE cards people have had the most sucess with on Oracle VM
What I'm looking for is more of a guidance and 'known to work with' rather than a recommendation or certified combo.

The NIC that shows up in the guest is emulated in software by the qemu-dm process in dom0. I don't think qemu-dm can emulate a 10G card. Even if it could, I don't think it would be able to get anywhere near 10G speed. If you want your guest NIC to be fast, you must use PV drivers for now.
I got the OpenFiler Xen version to work, with some changes. If you are having trouble getting the PV kernel or HVM kernel with PV drivers to work, let us know exactly what the problem is, so we can help you get this to work.
Take a look at /usr/share/xen/man/man1/qemu.1 on your dom0 server, and look for the -net parameter:
    Qemu can emulate several dif-
ferent models of network card. Valid values for type are "i82551",
    "i82557b", "i82559er", "ne2k_pci", "ne2k_isa", "pcnet", "rtl8139",
"e1000", "smc91c111", "lance" and "mcf_fec". Not all devices are
supported on all targets. Use -net nic, model=? for a list of
    available devices for your target.

  • X2-10G-LR reuse on short distance?

    Hi all,
I need to implement VSS on 6500 equipped with Sup720-10GE and WS-X6704; considering that this last 10G card doesn't support VSL, I need to realize VSS interchassis connections on Supervisor 10G interfaces, but I only have X2-10G-LR. Considering that the 2 6500 are in short distance (few meters): is it possible to use 10G long range optics and, if yes, do I need some additional patch?
    Thanks

    Hello,
i think there is no minimum distance for LR, so you should be able to use for short distance over single mode fibers

  • ONS 15216 and 10G

    Dear Sirs!
    Can I use 10G DWDM modules (for example DWDM-SFP10G-30.33=) with 15216-MD-40-ODD= Mux/Demux?
And if it possible, can I use few 10G SFP+ modules and few 1G SFP modules together?
And if it not possible, what cisco Mux/Demux I must use, for 10G DWDM? (I need minimum 8 channel)
    Thanks!
Helping seriously ill children, all together. All information about this, is posted on my blog

    Hi Angelo,
I am currently working on a project with Catalyst 6500's using the DWDM XENPAKS and the Flexlayer. We have tested this at line rate and it works fine. We have a combination of SUP720 with the 4 port 10G cards and the newer Sup with dual 10G ports. We are also using a combination of 8 port and 2 port OADMs, with splitter combiners... good solution...

  • 15305 and 15454 Ethernet interworking

    Hi Folk,
Wonder if anyone can help out there.
Would like to provide a LAN Extension service over an SDH network. Does anyone know whether the GigE and FE cards on the 15305 interwork with the 15454 CE or ML ethernet cards?
Have looked on the Cisco site and am somewhat confused. The 15305 uses GFP-F to map Ethernet into SDH. The 15454 cards appear to encapsulate the ethernet frame before it uses GFP-F.
    Could someone enlighten me!!
    Regards,
    Phil

    Hi Phil
yes, of course they do. You have two possibilites. You can use the 15305 modules in L1 mode and connect them to the CE cards on 15454. Or you can use the 15454 ML cards, maybe with a L2 RPR ring. Then you can switch the 15305 modules to L2 mode with a integrated L2 switch.
CE cards anf the 15305 modules in L1 mode is always P2P and pure ethernet transport without any L2 or VLAN stuff.
ML card and 15305 modules in L2 mode use a L2 switch with a lot of L2 features, like VLAN, STP, QoS and so on.
By the way, both CE and 15305 modules in L1 use GFP-F and are fully compatible.
I hope this helps. Please rate all posts.

  • Buffer-to-buffer credit management scheme of ONS 15454

Both 15454 SL card (MSPP) and MXP_M_10DME(MSTP) have a buffer-to-buffer credit management scheme to provide FC flow distance extension.
I can not find any document about a buffer-to-buffer credit management scheme.
Q1) Are there any buffer-to-buffer credit management scheme difference between 15454 SL card (MSPP) and MXP_M_10DME(MSTP) ?
