16:9 content fullscreen in QT

Hi,
I am working on FCP 5.1.1 and I am using 16:9 SD video (captured from a Sony TRV-17). Editing works fine, everything is always shown in anamorphic dimensions. However, once the movie is exported to Quicktime or even DV, I can't play the content in "real" full screen.
Quicktime is always acting as if the letterbox is residing inside a 4:3 box, so there are black spaces on the left and on the right, meaning the letterbox video is placed in the center of the screen with a "thick frame" around it.
What do I need to do to render the content in a way it's shown fullscreen on my widescreen MBP screen? Or is there a way to overscan Quicktime, so I can zoom in?
Any ideas?

Me guess is that the Sony TRV is not shooting in true 16:9. It probably has a 4:3 chip an is artificially cropping the top and bottom of the video to make it look like 16:9. I have the same problem with my TRV 900 and never been able to make it full screen on a 16:9 set.

    Hello,
I just wanted to report that my brand new Acer Laptop with an
Intel X3100 GPU (IGP) can't play content fullscreen when using
Adobe Flash Player 9.0.115.0 .... Normal , non- fullscreen videos
play great - but on youtube- when i want to go fullscreen with
Hardware acceleration on- I get a fullscreen gray colored
screen..... If i disable Hardware Acceleration - it works fine, but
I assume with higher CPU usage....
I just thought of reporting this problem with my Intel GPU...
(I also have the latest Drivers from Intel installed)
    My system specs are:
    Pentium Dual-Core T2330 CPU
    2GB RAM
    Intel X3100 Intergrated Graphics Processor
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit Service Pack 1
I hope this helps adobe engineers solve this problem
    Thankfully,
    Edward
P.S. I also have similar issues with my ATI HD 2600 GPU
powered desktop with HW accleration on fullscreen (fullscreen black

  • How to set width/height of iPad app in ipa file

    Hello,
I am developing an app for iPad in Flash Builder 4 and Packager for Iphone.
I set the width and height node values in the descriptor XML and compile the application. When I run the same in iPad, I am not able to see any effect on the app's width and height.
Also, in default load, app opens in dimensions as per the iphone view and not specifically for iPad.
    Any help?

  • Major bug in Hardware Acceleration, flash 10.2+10.3

Not sure if it has been reported before but there's a huge bug in the hardware acceleration on flash 10.2 and 10.3 beta.
    The issue:
If you run 1080p youtube content fullscreen, hardware acceleration on, the FPS drop to 30-80% of what it should be, AFTER you seek in the video and flip back and forth fullscreen mode (if you don't do that, it just runs fine). If the FPS doesn't drop, then just flip/back fullscreen some more and seek some more, it pretty soon will drop. Once it dropped, it will stay low for the rest of the movie.
It's easy to verify when you put the FPS counter ('show video info') on screen, but you can also see it by just closely watching the video and see how it becomes less smooth.
When you disable the hardware acceleration the issue is gone.
    Tested and confirmed on:
    Win7, winXP
    Chrome, IE, Mozilla
    Flash 10.2 and 10.3 beta
    Nvidia, ATI (both latest drivers)
So. pretty much everybody suffers from it I guess ...
Random 1080p test movie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSGBVzeBUbk

not sure if what i found out today might be a solution or workaround!? i had a framedrop from 60 fps down to 1 (!!!) while working on a game. it happened every time i touched the stage (TOUCH_BEGIN) in order to start a touch-drag-operation.  Within the Flash-environment i had made sure to publish the game with player-version 10.3. Then i reset the the environment back to the original player that came with CS5. Guess what: The error disappeared!!!! Now the game is running smooth with 60fps !!!

  • Standalone Builder java Error/Bug

    Hi,
I am trying to develop an app with FlexSDK 4.1 using pure AS3. When I try to compile the application using the packager, the following exception in packager procces occurs:
thread "main", java.lang.Error - unable to find named traits: mx.collections.errors:: ItemPendingError
    at adobe.abc.Domain.resolveTypeName(Domain.java::195)
    ... etc...
I am using some FXG's instead of classic Flash IDE vector graphics, so I think this might be the problem. Additionally - I am not using my own Apple Dev cert's, but rather some downloaded form the internet (just for try). On the other hand, the apps can be compiled using only the Flash IDE and this certificates.
I am calling pfi with these parameters:
    call pfi -package -target ipa-test -provisioning-profile "cert/mobileprovision.mobileprovision" -storetype pkcs12 -keystore "cert/cert.p12" -storepass pass "bin/app.ipa" "app-app.xml" "bin/app.swf" "icons/icon29.png" "icons/icon57.png" "icons/icon48.png"

  • Mplayer lags at high resolutions

Setup information: Up-to-date Arch x86_64, Nvidia 8800GT with up-to-date closed source drivers, E6750 @ 3.2 GHz, Asus Xonar DX (which I only mention because in the outputs below you'll see "AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/8.33% (ratio: 16000->192000)", and this sound card does support 192kHz audio).
I recently bought a new monitor, which change my setup from one 1280x1024 screen and one 1024x768 screen to one 1920x1200 screen and one 1280x1024 screen, and now when I try to play content fullscreened it lags much more than it did before.  I used to be able to watch h.264 encoded 720p content fullscreened on my larger monitor, but now It's slower even in a window than it used to be fullscreen.  And fullscreened it's unbearably slow, unless I use -vo gl2 in which case it is slightly less but still glitchy and jumpy.  Normally I use -vo xv, and I tried to use -vo xvidix but I wasn't able to get that to work at all.  I even went so far as to buy CoreAVC Pro and was able to get that to work with mplayer, but it doesn't make anything better.
Here is my mplayer config file:

Note that the second one lags less and doesn't seem to vary depending on whether I have it fullscreened or not, whereas the former looks about the same in a window as -vo gl2 but fullscreened skips significantly more.
If necessary I can post more verbose output non-CoreAVC decodes, but I do not think that is the problem as it only skips more when I don't use -vc coreserve.
I have also tried viewing the file with VLC, which does not fare any better.
I can't help but think I should be able to fix this problem by modifying the configuration, as it used to work much better at the lower resolution, and when I'm in windows playing this with CCCP and MPC-HC it doesn't skip at all, fullscreened or otherwise.  Does anyone see anything that could possibly be the problem?

I just rebooted into linux, updated everything, configured the framebuffer and rebooted.  I had it in 1920x1200x32 with vesa, and when I tried to play the same video with mplayer in the framebuffer two noticeable things happened: 1) the video only took up the upper left corner and I could not maximze it to the full screen size, and 2) it still lagged.
I backed up my xorg.conf and reran nvidia-xconfig, which seems to have changed nothing... it still lags no matter what vo I use.  Here is my xorg.conf:

This seems to have just changed my previous configuration.  I'm going to try mucking around with it a bit to see if it gets any better.
EDIT: I just tried switching from twinview to xinerama with nvidia-settings (just a GUI xorg.conf configurator that comes with nvidia drivers) and now things play FINE when I use -vo gl2.  However, compositing no longer works, and things look all-around cruddier.  So I think the problem here is twinview...  That makes me pessimistic about ever seeing improvement...
EDIT2: I think I just solved the problem.  All I did was enable "Sync to VBlank" in the nvidia-settings configuration menus "X ServerXVideo Settings" and "OpenGL Settings".  Now when I run with compiz DISABLED, things work fine.  If compiz is running, however, it runs as cruddily as before, with all the tearing.  This is not a huge issue however, as I am fine with disabling compiz whenever I want to watch HD content.  I believe the key point here was that I needed OpenGL to sync to vblank, and XGL does not have this option (as far as I am aware), so it will not work as well when I am using compiz.

  • Adobe Content Viewer fullscreen

    Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to set the adobe content viewer window fullscreen. I should do a presentation and I find the title bar on the top is rather unpleasant. I know I could export it as a pdf but this would be my last chanche. Thanks

To reinstall Adobe Content Viewer run one of the following:
    Install file locations:
    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6/ContentViewer/AdobeContentViewer.air
    Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\AdobeDigitalPublishingCS6\ContentViewer\AdobeContentViewer.air

  • AppleTV mirroring in fullscreen & different content on tv and ipad

    Hey,
is there any way to mirror a app in fullscreen on AppleTV? I know the ratio is not the same on iPad and 1080p flatscreen.
But there are some apps they can handle this problem.
As you can see the content on tv and ipad is differrent. Some ideas how to do that?
    Greetings

On the iPad Content Viewer too, you have the "Home" icon to go back to the library to download or read another folio.
Tab once anywhere on the screen to bring up the navigation bar, at the top left hand corner, you have the "Home" icon to go back to the library. Look at the screenshot below

  • How to center a flash content in fullscreen mode

I tried this for a flash exe file :
    import flash.display.*;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
but i get a full black screen. any ideas what i am doing wrong.

    Hi there
DOS applications tend to like to be the only kid in the sandbox (so to speak). As a result, they usually don't like sharing their memory space much. It is my own educated guess here that this is why Captivate is unable to capture when the application is in Full Screen mode.
I'm admittedly confused by the desire to capture at full screen. This is generally a bad idea with Captivate. But if that's your need, that's your need and that's for you to choose.
The only suggestion I might offer is to size the application so it is nearly full screen and capture that way. Then use Captivate's Project > Rescale option to make the project resolution larger. You would center the main part of the recording and fill the newly added space with the color of the recording background.
    Cheers... Rick

  • While watching streaming video content, Youtube for example, and I click on the fullscreen button, the screen goes white.

The video plays fine but when I try to watch full screen, the whole screen goes white. The right-click menu comes up and I am able to chose one of the options but the corresponding window does not appear the screen remains white. If I click on the screen the video stops and starts (I can tell by the sound). The escape keys returns the video to the normal size within the browser page and the window for the option I chose from the right-click drop down menu appears over the video.

Flash and other of your plug-ins look a bit dated, please review [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20plugins#w_updating-or-re-installing-your-plugins Updating or re-installing your plugins], perform a plug-in check and update as needed.
See if the problem still occurs with the latest Flash version.

  • FLASH PLAYER 10.3.183.7  DOES NOT WORK IN FULLSCREEN

    FAO:  Mr CHRIS CAMPBELL
    Hello Chris
You're probably getting this from all angles but the newest update to Flash Player  (10.3.183.7)   JUST DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.
I keep my browsers up to date and as of today (5 Sept 2011)  Flash  WORKS in "small pane in browser" mode (for example, in Youtube)  BUT GOES BLANK AS SOON AS FULLSCREENED.
Note that overlay captions and the pause / play graphics DO all work - it is only the video decompression that doesn't - leave screen blank and black.
This is BOTH in FireFox 7.0  and in latest Google Chrome:  I have carefully uninstalled & replaced Flash form the links you posted here and IT STILL DOES NOT WORK in fullscreen.
You really should NOT release new version of auto-updating code like this that are not properly tested:  this has mucked up video viewing for millions of people needlessly.
Is it because of the new accelerator support ?   who knows.    This is a mid-life Toshiba Satellite Pro   (we don't all go out and buy new PCs every ten weeks like you developers do)  and it has a P4 and standard onboard Intel 82852 graphics: perfectly fine up to last week.     But it has 64MB of graphics space and I see that 10.3.183.7  now "requires"   128MB ?       You just cannot make assumptions like that :  I bet there are  50 million plus PCs out there with 64MB (or less) VGA RAM.
Adobe is a lovely product,  but this is a complete and utter  bal*ls-up  as we in the UK call it:      please excuse my anglo-saxon directness.    Sort it out, please.

    Hi Chris
    Thanks for your rapid feedback.
YES  -  you are right  - turning off hardware accelerate FIXES it on this machine.
(For anyone else trying this,  note that if your PC is busy you may not be able to get the Right-click menu to work while the video is displaying,  so PAUSE it first,  then right click in the pane,   choose "Settings",  and UNtick the hardware acceleration tickbox.  Then unpause, and bob's your uncle.)
Interesting:  Chris -  I also notice that   Not All Videos Do it     -  some are fine (adverts seem to be,  on youtube)  -  but this (below) is an example of the one which will not fullscreen with the HW acceleration on  (nice watching, too  :-)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb3VWZj_I6g&list=PL0F01AFE18471E7B8&index=1
NB  Might it have anything to do with the transcoding YouTube are supposedly doing,  over to VP8 ?     I wonder if they change the content of the stream,  when you choose fullscreen perhaps ?   And so perhaps confusing the HW accelerator which may not know VP8 ?
Thanks again for rapid response.   GOOD LUCK ALL

  • [Solved] Openbox's rc.xml error "Extra content at the end of document"

I have a rather silly problem with Openbox.
I'm not a programming genius so, for me, dealing with XML is a pain but I usually manage to get OB's menus and other docs to work. Ive been banging my head into a wall of xml trying to add my own entry to OpenBox's rc.xml file.  All I want to add is an Xfce terminal centred on my Twinview desktop.  I've done it in the past but right now I can't get the rc.xml file to work.  Whenever I re-configure OpenBox I get the following message spit out at me:
Extra content at the end of document on line ###
So far, this is what I've attempted to get this to work:
    - I have tried recopying a new rc.xml from /etc/xdg/openbox to my home directory's ~/.config/openbox.  I was assuming I'd botched it entirely and started over from the beginning.
    - I have cut/copy/pasted the commented paragraph, above my entry, with the same co-ordinates and with the "force position" set to "yes."
-I've googled this error but I only found one or two semi-relevant hits (from this forum no less!)  Unfortunately I did not find a fix to the issue or a reason as to why this error crops up
I know that it's probably something that is easily missed but I honestly can't see it.  I'm hoping someone on the forum will have run across this issue before and had it fixed.  Below is a copy of my current rc.xml.

You can use whatever tool you prefer - for someone already using emacs, emacs is a natural choice. Simple, easy to use online tools exist e.g. http://schneegans.de/sv/
Just upload the file in question ('Validate by file upload' option) and click 'Validate':
The '=' character cannot be included in a name. (723:10)

Googling 'xml validation' should give you some more tools / services if this one is not good enough.

  • How can I make my whole site in fullscreen (API) mode, not just the opening page?

I'm building a site that consists only of static pages, no scrolling, and I want the whole site to be in fullscreen mode. I know it's not good manners on the internet to have a whole site in this mode but it's a site with art and music and I really have a reason to have it this way.
I've been doing a lot of searching and I've got the fullscreen API to work for me, but just on that one particular page. I want it to stay fullscreen even when I go to another page on the site.
Maybe I've been doing this wrong somehow and the script is supposed to work that way but I've not been able to make it work.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks so much for your quick replies.
The thing is I designed the site and tested it on a lot of different screen resizer plugins and it looked good.
What I did not count on was the space you lose with the dock. The content just gets too small on a 1366x768 for example.
Nancy, with "This allows content to fit the available viewport.", you mean the browser window? I've already built it that way.
Jon, ok so I was right about the API not working on whole sites then but it does have the the opputunity to make a single page fullscreen though.
Though I want the fullscreen mode on IE as well, I don't think the interface elements take that much space on windows computers and
maybe I won't have to use fullscreen there. This site is also not designed to work on mobiles so no issue there.
I have been thinking about some alternatives:
    1. Some kind of workaround that you mention Nancy, but I haven't found any.
    2. Have the visitors push a key to get into fullscreen but it seems that there is no equivalent to the F11 on mac, just different shortcuts for
different browsers. Or have I missed something here?
    3. Make the next page open up in an iframe but it just slows down the loading of the page.
