16:9 defaulting to 4:3 on burning

I have a (PAL) project in 16:9 on my idvd, with all settings set to 16:9 also. However, when I preview or burn it keeps defaulting to 4:3 (squashed). I am tearing my hair out as to a solution.
Does anyone have a possible solution?
Thanks

I burned a DVD exported from FCP 6.05 to iDVD yesterday and got an anamorphic movie. Today I tried every suggestion posted on this forum and the FCP forum, and nothing works.. not Anamorphosizer, not changing the settings in quicktime pro and saving them out (they just don't save changed.. it ignores the commands)
So I'm trying this forced 1024 x 576 suggestion as we speak.. wait a minute...
Wait a sec.. I kid you not.. Your not gonna believe this..
I tried this and it was a long movie with a real long compression time forecast (maybe a lot of calculation to force that change of frame size?), so I cancelled and tried again with just a bit of the movie. But now when I try to do this again, it shows up under Custom as Custom 16 x 9, at 1024 x 576 already.. nothing to change. I checked the full length movie again and the same thing. So I compress it and guess what?
Diddly squat.. that's what! It still shows up in quicktime pro as 720x576, and changing it plus unticking preserve aspect ratio (as per Apples advice) get me absolutely nowhere as it refuses to save the changes I input into those fields.
Cupertino, we have a problem..
This is driving me nuts..

  • Default to second button on burned disc

When I burn a Blu-ray disc from Encore the main menu shows up with the second button highlighted instead of the first one. This is for a list of text buttons arranged from top to bottom on the screen, and I've checked the assigned order in Encore to confirm it's correct.
Is there a simple fix for this?

I had the same problem with one of my submenus. In my case it defaulted to the 3rd button. I decided to redo that menu, so I removed all buttons on that menu, then added them back in the order in which I wanted them to be.
Bingo! When I go to that submenu from the main menu, it now defaults to the 1st button. However, that submenu is also accessible from another submenu. Using that route the troublesome submenu still defaults to the 3rd button!
I think there's a bug in CS3 in relation to this.

  • How can you PERMANENTLY change the default Ken Burns effect?

I don't like the Ken Burns effect and want to PERMANENTLY remove it from the default setting for slideshows. I know how to deselect it every time I create a new slideshow, but isn't there a way to change the default setting so the Ken Burns effect is not selected unless I want it?

SImilarly, you cannot permanently disable the Ken Burns effect and remove it from the default settings.

  • Switch Default Burner Drive?

Does anyone know how to change the default location of the CD burner...itunes sends the burn request to a CD burner drive that does not work and I don't know how to change it to my new HP external DVD/CD burner (called the H drive)

I would like to know as well. You'd think that would be a simple menu operation, like in Toast...

  • How do I get rid of the Ken Burns effect on my photos

I would like to get rid of the Ken Burns effect on my photos I addes to my video. How do I do that

When you create a New Project and give it a name, the next thing you should always do is go to File>Project Properties and make sure in 'Initial Photo Placement you have selected either Fit or Crop. It seems the default setting is the Ken Burns annoyance.

  • Burning the same project more than once

Hi guys I have a project saved on dvdsp4 and was wondering if there is any faster way of burning extra copies?yesterday I burned the first copy and it took about 2hours because it had to render the menu etc.. I saved the project and today I want to burn extra copies but it has started to render the menu again. Is this normal?or is there a faster way burning copies once the project has been built?
    thanks
    Danny

It's easy to burn another copy of a DVD if you have already burnt a copy of it before. Just click the "Format" icon in the toolbar. It will pop up with a window with some options. You shouldn't have to change any of these options, just make sure that the Output Device is set to your DVD drive, which it should be set to by default. Just click the "Burn" button, pop in a DVD, and you're good to go.
If you've made a few changes to the DVD, you can use the "Build/Format" button in the toolbar. It will pop up with a window similar to that of the Format window. Click "Build & Burn." It will tell you that a VIDEO_TS directory already exists, and it can reuse as much of it as possible. You can then click "Reuse" to build the new portions of the DVD, and then it will burn it on a DVD.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhoto Slideshow images will not burn to DVD -- Green Screen

I'm trying to burn a slideshow I created in iPhoto '09 to a DVD using iDVD '09. The first few time I've done this, everything burns properly, including the DVD menu. When I select the "play" button to play the slideshow, the music that I originally entered plays correctly; however, the screen is completely green and none of the images appear.
Slideshow has 136 pictures and three songs from my iTunes library. The menu in iDVD has no music and only one pictures, using a previously loaded theme from the default options. I am burning the slideshow to 16:9 ratio, NTSC, best performance.
I have tried creating using the autoplay upon dvd insert option, which still did not work. Same green screen with slideshow music playing. I am currently trying to export the slideshow as quicktime movie then adding that to the project.
    PLEASE help. Any ideas appreciated.

I did search apple's KB again but that's the only article I could find on Green Screen so I posted it to the forum for reference purposes only....
Sorry it failed to help. I'll ask around for other suggestions and if anything comes up I'll post back.
DRM is certainly a possibility as suggested above even though I've not seen it attached/related to an issue of this nature (lines yes, but rarely the entire screen).

  • Burning mp3 cds on zen mirco softw

the creative solutions software has apparently got a default setting for its mp3 burn list thats alphabetical which means no matter what order i put the tracks (theres lots of them) on the list it reorders them. which is a complete wind up. also the file names in joliet? script will only be accepted if they are less than 64 characters which many of them arent.can anybody help please.
    regards lloyd

    - First of all, lloydlove is burning a data CD, not audio CD. My guess is that when he replied SSR that he is burning "audio", he was actually referring to burning MP3 files into a MP3 data CD.
    - When burning in to an MP3 data CD, the notion of track order does not apply. There is no such thing as track order for MP3 data CD. An MP3 data CD simply contains MP3 files. You can choose to view the files in whichever order you want by clicking the Windows Explorer's column. For example, to view by Filename order, by file date order, etc. You can also view by artist order, album order if you enable the artist and album column in WIndows Explorer. So, this is not a problem with MediaSource.
    - The current MediaSource uses Joliet format. I do not see any settings to use otherwise. So, for now, you have to bear with the limitation of the filename.

  • DVD-R and CD-R Burn Speeds Slow after Tiger

Hi, I just installed Tiger a few weeks ago and noticed that when I am in the finder and record or burn a CD-R, it does so at 8X max, and a DVD-R data disc burns at 1X only, instead of the 2X its supposed to do it. Any help is welcomed.
Also having problems when inserting a DVD-R, it no longer askes what to open (IDVD, finder, DiskUtility) even if I never checked the always do this, it automatically opens IDVD everytime and doesnt let me open it in the finder. The solution for this is that I have to place the IDVD application on a External Harddrive and then insert the disk and I get the dialog box again, but once I pass the application back to the applications folder it always defaults into opening that.

Your burning speed isn't determined by your operating system, it's determined by your SuperDrive. So if you have an 8X max for CD-R and 1X for a DVD-R that's what you're stuck with.
You can however reflash your firmware to trick your drive into ripping and burning a little faster. Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll e-mail you the info on how to do it. It's been a while, so I have to look up the file again. Also, be sure that's the SuperDrive you have because the new firmware is drive specific!

  • Can't find default settings for slideshows

    Aloha--
I'm running iPhoto 5.0.4, and want to set two defaults: my music, and my transitions (none). Every time I select a folder of photos and click "slideshow," however, the slideshow comes in withe "Jesu" from the sample music folder, transition - "default:dissolve", and the Ken Burns effect. I have looked at other posts on default settings, and they say (and show) a "save settings" button for the music choice. My settings have nothing like that.
This is Apple! Don't tell me there's no way to set these two simple defaults.

My error. The top of my page read 6 when I logged in yesterday and didn't check it further. Sorry about that.
I don't think you can set a default set for new slideshows, only those that have been created. But that's for when you click on the Play button at the bottom of the Source pane next to the "+" button. That one has a Save option but it's only for that one folder of photos. Each new folder has to be saved also.
You can get rid of the default sound track and replace it with something you'd like as the default. Open the iPhoto 5 application, Control-click on it and select Show package contents. Then navigate to the Contents/Resources/Music folder. There are the default music tracks. You can move the out and put in a couple of your own favorite tracks.
    Sorry about the mix up.

  • Burning DVD on iMac G5

I have an pre Intel iMac G5 and tried 6 times to burn a DVD using iDVD5, the default is the internal G5 burner, I upgraded to iDVD6 which fortunatelly has the option to burn on another DVD burner which in turn was successful. What should I do if the extrnal is not avaliable? I need to rectefy the problem on the iMac G5 should it go into the shop it is only 3 months old. It plays dvd's, music video and VD fine.

Are you using known high quality media?
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
Are you burning at the slowest speed possible?
Is the media prepackaged in jewelcase and has nothing written by you or stuck to its label?
Is the label side facing you when you put the disk in?
When you open Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info, under hardware's disk burning, what supported formats do you have, and is your media matching that format?

  • Burning speed on K430 Desktop

Hi. Can anyone advise why I cannot change the burn speed on my new K430? It defaults to 6x or 8x and I cannot change it to 4x (I have defaulted to 4x on my burning software but doesn't work). Thanks

    Hello
The image on recovery DVD contains tested drivers and it is really not necessary to discus it. The recovery image is tested before installation in the Toshiba factory.
I am also interested if the burning speed will be higher after recovering procedure. Dont forget to back up your data.
By the way: you can create two partitions using expert installations mode. If the OS must be preinstalled again it will be possible to recover just first partition if necessary and all your data will be safe on second partition. If you need instruction about expert installation mode please write again.
    Good luck!

  • Identifying users without DEFAULT ROLE ALL

I want to query the database catalog to identify users who have been defined without DEFAULT ROLE ALL. Unfortunately I do not see anything in DBA_USERS that would tell me this.
I suppose I could run DBMS_METADATA.EXTRACT_DDL to generate scripts for all users, and examine the output, but I would like something more direct.

  • Getting the same text more than once

I keep getting the same numerous texts more than once from my friends and one of my friends even said that they were getting my texts out of order. Is it my phone or the network?

  • HELP! What are the settings to export with the highest quality (I will show my project in a cinema.)

    Hello,
I have a project I will be showing at a local cinema, and I need to have the best possible quality for that......
My source footage is SD, so I am exporting it as a MPEG2-DVD project, the first time I exported (with the default MPEG2-DVD settings) and burned it, it looked good (at least on my 34" TV) but I am not sure if that quality will be as good when projected on a cinema screen...
So, what I need to know is, which of the MPEG2-DVD export settings I must change in order to get the quality I am looking for.....
BTW I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 and the whole Creative Suite 4....
    Thanks in advance
    Al

If it looks good on your tv it will look good at the cinema.
The resolution will still be 720x480/576 if a dvd player is hooked up to the projector.
