16:9 doesn't what to stay that way! why?

This is my first post so i am not exactly sure how this works, if I did anything wrong please tell me along with the answer.
My problem is with exporting in final final cut pro 5.04. I recently was making a short film that was shot with a Canon XL2 in 16:9 and 60i. When importing i set everything as DV NTSC 48 kHz anamorphic. I proceeded to edit the film and was ready to export. I needed to first write it to tape. When i tried this instead of creating letterbox it wrote to the DV tape stretched into 4:3. So i then tried to export it quicktime DV stream and just put it on a DVD. So i exported it and it again was stretched. So then i went to "Export Using Quicktime Conversion," changed the format from quicktime movie to DV stream. Then i went to options and changed it to 16:9. Which exported correctly as it should look, but then idvd stretched it and i have no idea how to use DVD studio pro. So then i tried 4:3 along with preserving the aspect ration using letterboxes. but that stretched it too!!
Basically i am curious how to make it letterboxed before exporting so idvd will like it and so i can write it to tape. Any ideas?

From what i can understand, iDVD doesn't recognize 16:9 video from Final Cut to be 16:9 video. Please, don't ask me why. But I do know you can run your video through a little app called Anamorphicizer (find it at http://homepage.mac.com/sith33/FileSharing34.html) that should make it work fine with iDVD.
If you want to letterbox in a 4:3 ratio, when you export using Quicktime Conversion, there should be a box in the "Size" options that asks you how to "Preserve aspect ratio" (maybe not the exact wording) and if you check that box you'll have the option between letterbox or cropped. You should be able to make a letterboxed 4:3 Quicktime movie using that.

Make sure the XP box is upgraded to the latest version of itunes. Also make sure it's using the itunes media folder layout as explained here, because that's what the W7 is going to be using.

Get these folders from the XP machine

And put them here on the W7 machine

Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear. I have downloaded and installed flash player several times on my Win7 Vaio laptop. I have uninstalled and deleted all versions. I am the administrator and I have also turned off my Security Software, but the same thing keeps happening over and over. The Java Script is enabled and I have tried both downloading via IE and firefox. It is rediculous that it keeps disappearing and I keep getting messages that the newest version is needed. I am downloading directly from adobe and they say it is the latest. Getting very frustrated. They ask if we have any problems when we go to the finish line, but there is no place for comments. I guess they don't really care if it works or not.

So is it actually installed, or is it not? If not, download and run the offline installers:

I believe that system has a hall sensor on it to detect when the lid is closed so it can put the system to sleep and/or disable the monitor so it can be used with an external monitor only. If the sensor is marginal or has a bad cable, it may intermittently cut the monitor on and off, and may likewise put the system to sleep. One way to check would be to plug in an external monitor and if the laptop's screen cuts off or doesn't show up, start using the trackpad and press on a non-typing key like the shift key. If the external display suddenly pops and becomes active while the laptop display remains black, it's probably a problem with the sensor or the cable/connection. You might be able to fool the sensor into kicking on and off by moving a magnet over it. It's located on the left had side of the base with the unit opened up, and right over the audio output plug.
I know of some people that put a small magnet right over the hall sensor's location so the laptop display turns off and they use the system with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If fooling with magnets, make sure they're small and don't get them close to the hard drive because a strong magnet can wipe them out.

The setting holds for photos taken with camera storing to SD card. Only the email attachment setting does not hold.

When I create a shortcut to a web page from FireFox to the desktop, how can I force Firefox to open from it when I.E. is default and has to stay that way?

I have a customer that likes to use Firefox browser and does for all they can. Unfortunately they have to also us I.E. with some of their business companies so their browser is set to I.E. by default and must stay that way. Tried changing default for brevity we will just say opened to many other problems. SO, is there a way to create a short cut to the desktop from Firefox and force that shortcut to open with Firefox and not with the default browser IE?

You can create a new Firefox shortcut on the desktop and add the website address after Firefox. For example:
Under the shortcut tab, the target could read:

By default Firefox opens a blank page for a new Tab, there is no setting to change that action without installing an add-on.

Interesting. Comes with? you didn't have either before? Paragon is commercial and is now v. 10.0, they were the only one keeping updated and was supporting 10.7.4. I would not enable more than one.
For writing to HFS Paragon has theirs but probably give the nod to MacDrive there.
I never do an upgrade to a new OS over the old system, I backup (clone) and format the drive with the new OS and do the install so whatever is there I know is clean and also to keep from carrying around leftovers from years and systems past.
I would assme Paragon is limited. Try their site and knowledge base?

Thank you for your reply. I realy have nothing else to sync - no music. Emails do work so its just my contacts I am concerned about. I'm kinda new at this but have a working understanding of the system.
I have an icloud account but the Geek Squad went there and tried but could not export contacts. I truly am not that good re icloud. They worked exclusively with my itunes, re-downloading, etc - all of the stuff in their book.
I have not tried a complete restore because I am not sure I am that good with the equipment but could. I did all of the stuff on the help page - sync reset, forced one-way sync etc but the phone just does not seem to recognize the sync. I have not gone to an Apple store to have them have a look - that may be my next step to hook up to another itunes computer. It seems simple to me - it was working fine until maybe 3 months ago - probably when there was an update. Its telling to me that the phone does not tell me there is a sync in process while itunes is saying there is - its just not biting between the 2.
I appreciate any hep - and I said, I not stupidi about these things but have kind of reached as far as I am comfortable with fear of doing something really wrong.
