16:9 footage/menu is displayed as 4:3 on final DVD

Hello...
Recently i installed Windows Vista and have been testing my adobe video products.. so far.. far better performance than XP on my dell dimension 2350.
I own a sony HDR-HC3 high definition camcorder. The other day i imported the full quality into Premiere... edited it, and then downsized the format to MPEG 2 DVD Widescreen; out of the Adobe Media Encoder.
I then imported my menus, pictures, music, and the mpeg 2 dvd footage.. which is in widescreen (format is was filmed in to begin with)... I created the menu.. 16:9 menu.. added the footage.. made sure it was in Widescreen.. check. I then went to preview the DVD.. everything looked good.. i had the black bars at the top of the screen just like i wanted...
So i go ahead and burned the DVD.. went to my dvd player.. popped in the CD.. and what i got was a full screen presentation of widescreen footage... the footage looks enlongated... the menu is also stretched to fullscreen..
My question.. how can i get the DVD to play my footage with the black bars at the top.. or in otherwords... a widescreen DVD?
Thank you for your time!
Fxmaker

I did revert back to Xp.. still gotta try reburning the dvd tho.. and i will check the dvd settings on the player.. i'll get back to u guys if i have any other problems..
thanks

  • Footage & Menu dimensions don't match on Flash Export (Encore CS4)

Here's the basic layout of the project:
A timeline is first play, leads to a motion menu. That motion menu links to other motion menus with Transition clips set.
All footage and menus are NTSC 4:3 (720x480, 0.91 PAR). Going out to Flash in 640x480 Medium preset.
    My problem is as follows:
All of my footage (Timelines and Transitions) is displayed at 640x480 (correct). But my motion menus display at 640x468 (so there is minor black letterboxing). The jump is quite noticeable in the transitions, since they are just an animation of the menu elements.
When I go out to DVD I have no problems, everything lines up nicely.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
I have a hunch it might be something like Encore is pre-rendering the motion menus at 648x480, which when downscaled to fit into the 640x480 flash window end up at 640x468. Sound plausible?

One way to test this (I think) would be to change the position of one of your menu layers, like a button object or a text object. That would force a re-render of the menu.
In order to avoid the long render times for a full project, do a Save As with your current project and give it a new name. Then delete all of the assets except maybe one timeline and one menu. Then force the menu re-render as above and see if export to Flash produces the same results.
I wish I had personal experience upon which to draw, but I don't export to Flash from Encore.

  • Menu/Toolbar Display Corruption Upon Resizing Window

We're experiencing an issue with one of our workstations where when the Adobe Reader X (10.1.3) window is resized, the Menu/Toolbar displays become corrupt and garbled on the screen (see the attached picture). The Toolbar appears on the top, the frame around the application disappears, and the menubar has to be hovered across for items to appear.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader, updated the video card drivers, and ensured all Adobe/Microsoft updates have been applied to this workstation.

Was curious to how you were able to change the display resolution - I am unable to even see anything on my desktop... I have connected my power book to another monitor but have the same result.

  • Creating a vertical dropdown menu that displays inline

I would like to change how my dropdown menu displays.  First I'd like for it to dropdown directly underneath its menu item and in the process move the other links down.  And remain visible until it is clicked again, thereby shifting other links back up.
Here is what I am trying to accomplish:
    Main menu:
    main link 1
    main link 2
    main link 3
    main link 4
Then when user clicks on a link:
    main link 1
       sub item
       sub item
       sub item
    main link 2
    main link 3
    main link 4
And for it to remain displayed like the above until clicked again.
So in essence it could even look like this as a user is navigating:
    main link 1
       sub item
       sub item
       sub item
    main link 2
       sub item
       sub item
       sub item
    main link 3
       sub item
       sub item
       sub item
    main link 4
       sub item
       sub item
       sub item
And then each submenu disappear as its main link is clicked again.
Hope this makes sense and hope someone can help.
    Thanks!

    Subject: Menu Icons Display Strange
    Hi again
Hmmm, new install. Aside from the funky icons does it seem to function?
What is your operating system? Vista, Windows 7, Windows XP and how many bits? 32 or 64.
Note that Adobe has no version of Captivate that has been blessed and purported to run flawlessly on 64 bit systems. We are seeing more and more folks arrive here that are using 64 bit systems and citing all manner of issues. Mostly surrounding capture and audio.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Menu parameter, display text and filter by ID

Is it possible with a parameter of type menu to display the text that has meaning to the user
But when filtering in my query send the ID's of the items the user selected in the menu?
For example I have a catalog with 50 reason descriptions in my DB, every reason description has an ID
So I display the 50 reason descriptions so that the user selects whatever he wants
When he runs the report how can I get the ID's of the reason descriptions he selected?
    Thanks and Regards

    for All option:
    select description, id from table
    union all
    select "All", -999 from dual
    in the query SQL:
    where
    colum1 = decode(:parameter1,-999,colum1,:parameter1)
    for Multiple selection:
    colum1 in (decode(:parameter1,-999,colum1,:parameter1) )
    example to create a report:
    1.create a list:
    select rownum || '-' || t.tname tname, rownum tnum from tab t
    union all
select 'All' tname, -999 tnum from dual
    order by tnum
    2. create a parameter using above list
    3. create a data model with following sql:
    select rownum || '-' || t.tname tname, rownum tnum from tab t
    where rownum in ( decode(:PM_doc_id,-999,rownum,:PM_doc_id))
    4. generate the layout
5.view this report to verify it.

  • Is there any way to edit the standard Firefox context menu for displayed Web pages?

Is there any way to edit the standard Firefox context menu for displayed Web pages? I frequently want to save a picture appearing on a page. Sometimes I "slip" and hit "Send Image" when I want "Save Image As", and have to sit and wait for a default send-mail page to come up, then close it, fiddling with its "are you sure" dialogs. This is a painful way to handle a slip-up. I basically NEVER want to e-mail an element directly from a page. Is there any way I can just delete "Send Image" from the context menu?

You can remove entries in the context menu with code in the userChrome.css file

Some IDs are listed in this MozillaZine Knowledge Base article:

  • Can't get a Google Site navigation menu to display on Safari

I can't get my Google Site navigation menu to display on Safari (iPad or iPhone)? Navigation menu is off the page...tapping the screen opens the sidebar but then it instantly closes automatically.
I looked in Google Sites Admin for a mobile device compatibility setting, but didn't find one. Also looked in my Safari settings on my own iPhone/iPad devices and nothing I do allows the Google Site navigation to work. This makes my Google Site unusable by iPad and iPhone users.
    Help...?

Are you using Safari? Have you tried an alternative browser - Chrome, Firefox?
Edit: What's the website - maybe it's down.

  • Itunes launches but only menu bar displays

we have an iMac with osx leopard and several user accounts. When we launch iTunes, the menu bar displays, but no user interface window (library, store, etc.) displays. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't fix the problem.
On some of the user accounts iTunes does launch and the window/user interface displays properly.
    Any ideas what to try?
    thanks,
    Mike

I just figured out the problem. I kept pushing F3 and the window would come up, but I could not make it active. I then noticed the app was really minimized below the tool bar. I grabbed the app window and pulled it up - problem solved.

  • Menu Connection Display Droputs

The menu bar display icon showing connection and time connected continually drops the time, slides the signal indicator to the right and then restores the time display. The signal strength remains constant at 3 of 4 bars and Internet Connect shows a connection exists. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using layered menus? (Do you have the base layer checked to show?)
How are you making the menus?
