16:9 KEEPS SHARING TO QUICKTIME IN 4:3

I cannot get my 16:9 project to come out 16:9. I have finished project shot with a Canon GL2 (16:9 squashed setting) first imported into FCP for basic cutting (had to for a specific reason), then output to Quicktime with no format problems. Imports fine in iMovie HD, but when clicking on share with Quicktime, it keeps coming out 4:3. I'm choosing full quality, but is there another setting in expert settings perhaps?
I did read where you UN-CLICK automatic pillar boxing and letter boxing. I did so, still no change... still 4:3.
Any input appreciated...
Thanks!

I finally figured this out. Go into Quicktime Pro, go up to window - pull down to movie properties - click on video track-click on visual settings - unclick preserve aspect ratio -then on scaled size... put on 720 x 405 pixels. Works for me on shooting anamorphic with my Canon GL2.

You can search the entire internet by putting that error message into google, see what other discussions appear.
With only the little information you've provided, I'd trash Compressor and download it again from the App Store.
You could share the timeline out to MPEG2 and then import that into iDVD, if you have it, or Toast.
Given an hour or three, someone with better suggestions will soon chime in.

  • Mailbox effect between shared and quicktime video output

Here are some screenshots from a movie I'm making. You'll see the kid doing the limbo in the clip at the centre of the top image is mailboxed with black top and bottom. I've added some type to the frame (lower portion of bottom screenshot) and it looks like it'll fall outside the image, but when I export the movie as a medium shared video, it turns out fine (upper part of bottom screenshot).  Make sense? I can't figure out why this is happening and where the edges of my frame are. The problem gets serious if I export to Qucktime because the mailbox effect shows while it doesn't show in the medium shared video output.
    Any advice appreciated.

Hi this worked for me... After you've changed the stuff within the browser close it out completely, Open the actual QuickTime on your PC edit-preferences then you will see both player and QuickTime separately. You need to uncheck automatically start play in both preferences, in the second one it has a browser tab when you click that the default is set checked for automatically play in browser uncheck that go through each tab in both preferences and make sure autoplay is not enabled anywhere, Good luck Rhondar35

  • Sharing to quicktime then only get audio when on a PC (Windows)

I shared my iMovie as a quicktme format. It plays normally on my mac, but not on a PC

'quicktime' is no format, aka codec..
audio-only implies, you're choice was h264, which needs QT vers. 7 to offer video too ... check the version on the Windows machine ..

  • Jumpy video when exporting (sharing) to Quicktime

    Hi all,
I'm doing a simple internet commercial for a conference in Chicago. I am having a new problem with imovie. When I try to make the video into a quicktime movie the transitions and frames are jumpy. Here's a clip
    http://timandalison.com/Transvision2007/Commercial2.html
It worked ok with my first commercial here:
    http://forthefields.com/Transvision2007.html
I don't know why it's acting funny. I've used the same settings and everything. I used expert settings in sharing instead of the auto because I wanted to deiterlace it. This setting has made it worse. The jumpy one is compressed automatically for cd-rom and is better than most of the attempts i've made today.
Is it possibly my computer is having a hard time rendering it? It's been acting slow lately on everything else.
    Any help is much abliged

i guess i figured it out.

  • HT1925 I cannot remove or reinstall Quicktime for Windows XP.  It keeps looking for Quicktime.msi file.  The file is in the folder but it does not think it is the right file.  How can I fix this?

Quicktime keeps wanting to upgrade, but it will not finish becasue it cannot find the file quicktime.msi.  The file is in the folder where it thinks it is.  I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but because it cannot find the file it stops.  I have tried to run Quicktime but it says it is not there.  How can I remove it so I can install it again.

It appears it is fixed.  FYI.  I went to Major Geeks and it said:
Project has been abandoned. You can now use Microsoft FixIt for this problem.

  • Sharing to Quicktime:I don't get setting choice menu

When i try to share my movie to Quicktime I don't get the different options(i.e. email, webstreaming,cd rom etc..).
All i get is Export Movie to Quicktime Movie Options Default settings etc
In the Imovie 08 help it says I should get all the different sharing options as in IMovie HD
    Any ideas people?

But still a little unsure as to what setting are comparable to export for cd rom, email etc..
    forget the old settings..
    nobody needs a stylus cd-rom..
iM is mainly for distribution via web, iPod/Phone, and dvd...
if you need special settings, use the many options of QT ...
and depending, what you like to accomplish, one of the zillion options will allow exactly that ..
brightness? my impression is, in iM my videos look darker..
actually, haven't created any dvd with iM08, just playing around with web...
and iM08 doesn't allow anymore the 'live playout feature' ...

  • Keep shared=true after redeploy

    Hi,
I have a secure web site. In my production environment I need to set shared=true for my web-app(s) in the secure-web-site.xml configuration file (\j2ee\home\config). I noticed that every time I redeploy the EAR, I need to add again the shared attribute for my application in the xml file. Of course a restart of the application server is next necessary.
Is there any way to make this configuration permanent (deployment descriptor or system level setting)? Is there any way to set the shared setting from the Enterprise Manager console?
    Thank you for the attention,
    Alex

    Hi again,
After reading some additional information, namely:
    Oracle® Containers for J2EE / Configuration and Administration Guide / 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) / Part No. B14432-01
How to Share HTTP and HTTPS Session [ID 401545.1]
Session Information Of All Applications Are Lost When Redeploying With Dcmctl Command [ID 273230.1]
I guess the answer is evident. To quote ID 401545.1:
"Please take note this capability cannot be enabled from deployments descriptors (in the ear or war file) and it cannot be set using the AS Console."
I have written that I need shared=true but in fact I only need it because otherwise my SSL session breaks too often (and doesn't respect the timeout interval)!
Playing around with the shared attribute is the only remedy I have found so far. I haven't done a review of each packet that is transmitted but according to the SSL debug log everything seems fine. What I understood from the documentation was that some browsers threat sessions in different manner and sometimes they start a new session before the timeout.
My tests with Firefox and Internet Explorer both fail in keeping a SSL session running normally. I don't know if there is a special setting for this in the browser and I couldn't catch a fixed interval for session expiration. My deployment description is fixed to 15-30 minutes but sometimes a session will timeout in a minute or two.
Does anybody have had a problem with SSL session timeout on Oracle AS 10.1.3 ?

  • IMovie shared "using quicktime"

    Can anyone please tell me:
    1) if Macbook can make an iMovie project autoplay when put on a CD? Movies are exported "using Quicktime".
    2) A 2 minute movie usually end up being some 50MB in size. Can I reduce file size (for websites) without compromising quality?
    Thanks in advance

    1) if Macbook can make an iMovie project autoplay when put on a CD? Movies are exported "using Quicktime".
The computer platform has nothing to do with this. Depending on how the content is delivered, the media player involved, and the user settings for the media player, a file may or may not be able to play automatically.
    2) A 2 minute movie usually end up being some 50MB in size. Can I reduce file size (for websites) without compromising quality?
You have not supplied enough information to make even an educated guess. A 2-minute, 50 MB file means your average audio + video data rate is on the order of 3.0 Mbps. Since you do not mention the audio or video codecs involved or the dimensions, it is difficult to tell whether or not you could reasonable reduce the file size without degrading the visual quality. A standard definition H.264/AAC file would likely be encoded at half the file size with good to excellent quality and be compatible with most broadband connections for a website use.

  • IMovie crashes when sharing to Quicktime

I updated my iMovie program and now everytime I use it and try to share movies with Quicktime it closes unexpectedly. I can export the movie as a m4v file using "export movie", but I need for it to be a .mov file and I typically use "export using Quicktime". It worked flawlessly until I updated. Has anyone else had a problem with iMovie after updating it? Is there a way to revert back to the previous version? I have called Apple Support and the gentleman that helped me got it to do what I could get it to do, but could not get the movie to share using Quicktime. He said that all of the files are the same (?) and that I could just use the m4v. I am doing work at home for someone else and they need the .mov file. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I did see multi-pass checked when I was looking at the Compressor Quality. I thought about changing it also because I get about a quarter of the way through the process and then it closes on me.
    My sound settings are:
    Format: Linear PCM
    Channels: Stereo L R
    Rate: 44.100kHz
    Render Settings:
         Quality: Normal
    Linear PCM settings:
         Sample size 16

  • Final Cut Pro X sharing -50 QuickTime error

I'm completely stuck. Every time I try to export my 6-min project, I wait 2 hours and then a window pops out: "QuickTime error -50"
I tried everything I found on the Apple Community Discussions, including:
    - Delete all the render files
    - Switch off Background Render
    - Copy/Paste project
    - Convert MP3 to another format
I have am iMac mid 2011 3.1 GHz. I tried to export with Compressor setting "720p" and "Apple Devices 720p" preset.
    Can anyone help?

Create a short test project with optimized media. Export that as a master file.
If that also gives you a QT-50 error, create a new user account and try another test project.
